He is just trying to say that you can't play pretty football in the epl for any sustained period of time because the league just too rough and the weather, too bad.

Has nothing to do with being "good" enough. He chose the words for a reason and he is just being an @$$. I am not the biggest messi fan but the man is clearly the boss now and it is reasonable to believe that he can make it in any league.

If Eagles had a better defense and defensive coordinator they would have a real chance at the superbowl.

Football / Re: Fenwick: It would be an honor to lead the Soca Warriors.
« on: December 17, 2010, 10:01:27 AM »
So Terry Fenwick claims he'll bring the pride back to playing for T&T and our results will improve if he's made coach seeing that he's guaranteeing qualification to the Gold Cup and World Cup

Let's look at the evidence.

Terry Fenwick's supporters say look at how he works with T&T players and has success with them.

Well it's true that he works with T&T players.  But what is this success peeps talkin about?

He's worked with Jabloteh only, which certainly up to a couple years ago was one of 2 dominant clubs in T&T football.  Their roster comprised of 99% T&T players.

In addition, many Jabloteh players have gone on to other clubs and a significant number of National team players have played for Jabloteh under Fenwick at one time or the other.

So if one is to gauge "success" by being tops in the T&T Pro League and number of players on the National team, I guess Fenwick is "successful".

But let's examine further.

When Jabloteh comes up against foreign opposition in the CONCACAF Champions League...even in their heyday....how did they fare?  Has Jabloteh ever made it to the final rounds of that CL?  As a matter of fact, the other dominant local team over the past 5 - 10 years, W Connection, has made more strides in that arena than Jabloteh ever has.  Even relative newcomer Joe Public, with a Bajan coach, has done better than Jabloteh ever has under Fenwick in that competition.

If I'm not mistaken (and I frequently am), the best Jabloteh has ever done when playing foreign competition is when they played Chicago Fire and buss dey tail 3-1 or something in T&T with Cornell Glen running riot.  And even then, Fenwick was just an assistant to Head Coach Ricky Hill.  Of course, Jabloteh come and get dey ass wax in Chicago in de return leg.  But these things happen.

So if its accurate that Jabloteh has had little or no success outside of T&T, and Jabloteh under Fenwick at their peak was a de facto T&T national team (local based anyway), why would anyone think that T&T would have any success under Fenwick?

I not sayin Fenwick not better than Latapy, or that he's not even the right guy for the job at this time, but to me he just talks a good game.  He's yet to produce the results on it.  Unless yuh satisfied with results at the Pro League level....2 years ago when CLICO had money.

Good post

Discipline= how to be a professional

-Eating right
-Training right
-How to play the game the right way, applying proper techniques, executing coaching strategy etc.-Having the right mental approach to the profession
- ...Etc.

On the evidence our players lacking discipline.

That's not discipline. You could be disciplined and not know how to aply proper technique etc. due to poor coaching

Good argument Kicker, one flaw, Iniesta was injured most of last season for Barca.  IMHO it was a big factor in Barca's stumble last year.  He was instrumental at the WC, that is for sure.

A quality player is a quality player...

The politics of the Jack Warner and England feud isn't serious enough to get in the way of that.

what about a marginal or simply promising player?

I personally don't care where they host the world cup. However I am all for the boycotting of fifa. There honestly needs to be a new governing body for the sport. One that is transparent and without an agenda.
Trouble is this is near impossible to achieve without government intervention, which would be a mess by itself.

I hear men clamouring for a new coach but without the infusion of the foreign base players, the simple fact is that the local players (Trinbago B team) is no longer a force in the caribbean.

Good point and one that I have made repeatedly. Our best players are playing abroad and are reluctant to come back for the Digicel Cup, so this team we put forth isn't a true reflection of our abilities as a footballing nation. Our best local-based players don't make up the best team in the Caribbean. Big surprise. Our talent pool simply isn't deep enough to field multiple "top-tier" teams a la Brazil etc...

At least this will serve to quiet all those who keep clamouring for a local-based squad for the WCQ.

Latapy is dead to me...I dont know if I can ever hear his name and have a positive thought... that was always the danger

I hope he does well in the future...just never with TnT again... he's too laid back and clueless for coaching

"Latapy is dead to me...I dont know if I can ever hear his name and have a positive thought..."
Execessive and Ridiculous!
Latas has always been a great player and he wanted to extend it to coaching the national team ... nothing wrong with that .. initially we all supported him!
Unfortunately, we have now all concluded he is not good enough and obviously he has to leave.
He gave it a shot and didn't succeed ... fair enough thats how it is.. aint the first and sadly won't be the last .. he didn't come here to try and bring we ball down ( or tief we like Jack) he came to try and lift it up but he didn't succeed sooo let it go and wish him well.

Men confusing frustration at his inability to lead the team to higher heights to actually hating on the man.
That is bullshit!!!!

Co-sign. And he supposedly the biggest "die-hard" supporter. Immaturity is a hell of a thing
