Please note that our U-17 coach, now passed away, RIP, was ripped apart by the football public for not picking our best U-17 players. He usually went for the players on his club team. These Manning and Dacosta Cup teams are tougher because they are truly our best U-17 players.

R.I.P. yea but it is your best under -20 players eh. Compared to Trinidad's Under 19

OOOOO I now see why Trinidad continues to lose to Jamaica each year in the Manning and Da Costa Cup. The Jamaician All Star Team is an UNDER 20 COMPARED TO TRINIDAD'S UNDER 19.

Da Silva and Paul are on the National team with World Cup experience and they ain't get pick!!!!! ??? ??? ???

STEEEUUUUPPPPPSSS Wether they from CIC or not should not matter they are a class above the rest and should have been chosen!!!

But I am not surprised at all, our school has always been subject to this injustice >:( >:(

The arrogance from you CIC  fellas is really astounding sometimes yes...I surprise not one 'Gustine player on the squad, but then again we players ent nutten compared to Saints players so who are we to talk.

Yuh see how yuh miss the point!!!! These players could be from MARS for all I care, the fact of the matter is they good enough to make the national team but cah make the school league all-stars? What is the logic behind the selection? ??? BAKE CMON arrogance have nothing to do with it

Grskywaler it does not mean that o because they were on the National Under-17 team that they should make the SSFL-All Star team which is an Under-19 League with players 18 and 19 years old who are in fatc better than those of the National Under 17 players. I know, and many peoeple/coaches would also tell you that they are players in the league who were not on the National Under 17 but are better than the likes of Glenroy Samuel ,Jean Luc Rochford ,Chad DeFreitas ,Micah Lewis etc and were 18/19. Bottom line the coach worked with the players he had availiable and I know for sure that Shawn Cooper has more coaching experience that most people in this topic-forum.

Boy that team might not be the strongest but it a very good team any other players would catch thier ass to start on that team includeing , DeSilva and Gay.

                                                  Joseph Baird/Kareem Gray

           Mikel Williams/ Akeem Adams/ Sherrick Hilaire/  Isiah Smith/ Sheldon Bateau/ Jerome Williams

                                                        Jamal Spencer

                         Kevin Molino/ Elijah Manners/ Robert Primus/Trent Lougheed
                                           Marcus Joseph  /  Shahdon Winchester

                                     Daniel Cyrus/ Neil Mitchell/ Stephen Knox

That Midfield is very strong. Any one of thos players in the midfeild on a good day coudl tear a team apart and control the whole play. Would hate to see what would happen if all 6 of them have good games.

Many people ignorant to the fact would not know that the coaches had to work with  players who actually came out to the screening sessions.  Not the big bois who feel they have name and should get pick because of this , including ,Leston Paul , Kevin Mussio , Sean DeSilva etc.At any team ,National etc sometimes the best players dont come out to train. This side is actually very strong in all parts , from defennce , midfield and fowards. Jammal Clarencnce is injuried and Gay did not go to Screeniing.

Many people have argued that Shandhon Whinchester is better than his star counterpart -Jerrol Britto , both are great youth prospects compared by many sports personalities , coaches etc as the next Yorke and Latapy. Who have known them or seen them play could vouch to this as being a serious comparision , youth with loads of talent and potential since the ages of 9 ,10,11 at their repective clubs playing at least 3 to 4 age groups higher and still shineing.

By Gregory Trujillo.
23-Apr-2003 - Talented striker Andre Toussaint has copped the “Footballer of the Year” award in the professional team Joe Public.
When the “Eastern Lions” held an awards function on Saturday at the Dr Joao Havelamnge Centre of Excellence, Macoya, 21-year-old Toussaint also walked away with the trophy for scoring the most goals last season.
The Point Fortin striker, who just missed selection on the Trinidad and Tobago team that left on Sunday to participate in the CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifier in Martinique, was also named “Most Valuable Player” in the Trinidad and Tobago Professional Football League.
Also receiving awards for being tops in their respective teams were Jeremy Delpino (Eastern Football Association Premier Div); Catrina Meyers (Women’s Div); Kevin Graham (U-19 Div); Marlon Stephens (U-18 EFA Div), Shennon Carew (U-16 EFA Div) and Jamal Gay (U-14 EFA Div).
John Henry, who was in charge of the Under-14 and Under-16 sides, was named “Coach of the Year”.
Feature speaker, Englishman Garth Cooks, a former player with Tottenham Hotspurs, urged top local players not to boycott the national team.
“Representing your country is the pinnacle of a player’s career,” Cooks said while commenting on the stand taken by 19 players recently to withdraw their services for an international friendly.
“Whatever you do don’t break your contract even if you are in dispute,” Cooks advised.

Just digging up an came across this article. Why was he overlooked for all the national youth sides , he has been around some time now?

I could tell you for sure , this is team is going to be made up of mostly Under 17 players from last year maybe half the team, and probably since SSFL is an under-19 league. They would pick a few of the best from the league and make up that side and the random youths from Pro league , Reserve league etc. It seriously should be a strong side if they scout the right players.

Naps has a very good defence they always based thier team on a VERY STRONG DEFENCE! Anyone who saw Naps and eldo play knows also that Naparima's midfeild is far superior. Naps also played eldo in a pre-seaosn friendly and beat them 2-0

NAPS WINNING INTERCOL 2008 FOR SURE! ELDRADO IS A BAKE SIDE. Naps played them in a pre-seaosn friendly and beta them 2-0. Jamal Gay is a good player but NAPS have defenders that could easil neutralize him. CIC have no kinna defence neither Scarbrough. WATCH AND SEE Eldorado is a shit side , with a very good striker, Naps midfeild is wayyy superior and thier team is always based on a Strong defence, Defences win championships.

The National u-20 team 2008 should be as follows:

Glenroy Samuel {San Juan senior comp.}
Elijah Manners{San Juan senior comp.}
Wendell Paris{Naparima College}
Robert Primus{Malick}
Danielle Joseph{St.Augustine Senior}
Darius Peters{Hillview College}
Jevaughn Vance{St.Augustine Senior}
Mikel Willams{St.Anthony's}
Jeffon Cornwall{Caripichaima}
Jamal Clarence{Pres Sando}
Neil Mitchell{San Juan Senior comp.}
Leston Paul{No school}
Akeel Selby{San Juan Senoir comp.}
Sheldon Bateau{Fatima}
 Stephen Knox{Fatima}

TTFF needs to focus on these players because they are very talented and will make something happen for Trinidad and Tobago. {More players still to be submitted}

what years was manners born in is he a 1989
I think Manners is 19

Slim his name is Anothony Paris from Naparima, and even tho eh rel bad and can kill men at will , next year he would only be 17 years old , and not ready for that under 20 side as yet.

Some othe rplayers fomr Naps that should have a chance would be
 Keeper- Curtis Julien
Defender- Cion Samuel , Sherrick Hilare, Isiah Smith
Midfeild- Jayson Joseph, Keston Smith.
Foward-Nigel Wright

Fell free anyone to pust who you think couls be some potential U-20 Players.

I also feel Stephan Cambell from Pres Sando, and depending on his age  Shevon Fredricks "Pumpkin"  P'Town Captain.

How good is Elijah Manners guys ?

Manners is pretty good, has been playing Intercol about 4 years now. Plays any where in the midfeild more attacking tho and uses both feet effficently , he has a deaft first touch which is one of his strengths . Has all the basics down, great control , excellent desion making and vision plus he scores.
Played reserve league with Jabloeth not sure if he made his senior team debut for them but he left that league and didnt sign a contract to come back and play school football , also was on the all star team form last year.

Yeah thats Cion allyuh talkin about , he play with Naps this year but the second game in the second round against PTown he got an concossion an was in the hospital for a few days he now recovering , and didn't feature in any of the games since. Includeing the St.Anthonys . Probably one of the best players on the team , could play anywhere in the defence and also midfield , word is he should be back only if Naps makes it to the National Semi-Final or Final.

Naps tame Tigers.
By: Kern De Freitas (Express).

It has taken Naparima College five years to get over the 6-0 mauling by St Anthony's College in the 2002 RBTT InterCol final at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
With three goals in a span of 26 minutes, Naps may have done just that, in the end cruising to a comfortable 3-0 victory at the same venue and booking their place in Tuesday's BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League "Big Five" final.
Truth be told, the "Tigers" of Westmoorings lacked confidence, with some of their key players either missing in action or unable to make a meaningful contribution, through injury.
Most of the credit has to go to the South Zone champs, though, as they stuck almost flawlessly to a well-worked game plan.
Nigel Wright, Shahdon Winchester and Anthony Parris all struck the net from close range in the first half and with a three-goal deficit staring them in the face at half-time, the Tigers could not muster the strength for the uphill batte.
Even Naparima's rhythm section drowned out the sounds of St Anthony's own support and, in the end, they also had more to celebrate.
For the first ten minutes neither team settled, both trying to get a feel for each other. Wright had the earliest attempt at goal in the 11th, but shot over St Anthony's custodian Kevin Mussio's crossbar after controlling neatly at the edge of the penalty area. Skipper Uriah Bentick got his first try less than a minute later, firing just over from distance.
Naps then took full advantage of loose defending by their North Zone opponents, an unmarked Wright receiving wide on the left and, with time and space, he calmly picked his spot and beat the advancing Mussio.
The most innovative player in the Tigers attack was Emery Joyeau on the right flank, but he found little help up front. Mekel Williams headed wide for St Anthony's in the 28th and then striker Bradley Lawrence hit over from six metres soon after.
In the space of three minutes, the game was over as Naparima delivered the telling one-two combination. First, in the 38th, Winchester was picked out by Keston Smith and he obliged, heading the free kick past Mussio.
Parris was then given too much space on the left, raced past a defender and slotted under the onrushing goalkeeper.
The Tigers were desperate then and substituted a listless Bradley Lawrence for winger Micah Lewis, who never looked himself, having struggled with injury recently. Travis Joseph was the second substitution at half time, as St Anthony's tried to put more life into their attack.
Naps forte, however, is their defence and they neutralised everything which came their way.
The Southerners hung back to wait for the counterattack and shut down any attack from the wings, forcing St Anthony's to come through the centre. The closest they would come to goal was Bentick's right-footed drive in the 52nd, which forced Curtis Julien in Naps' goal to parry over.
The final whistle brought jubilant celebration for Naparima, who must now prepare for the winners of tomorrow's semi-final between East Zone champs San Juan Secondary Comprehensive and Tobago's Mason Hall Secondary. For a night, though, they can bask in the joy of a memorable win and at least ease some of the pain inflicted by the Tigers in 2002.

Lol , yuh mean 3 teams actually get byes into the semis. I guess because the Central Zone and Tobago Zones have less teams and therefore play less matches and are traditionally the weaker zones they always have to fight up in a Quarterfinal to earn to play in a Semi.

Mason Hall into SSFL 'Big Five' semis.
By: Kern De Freitas (Express).

Mason Hall Government Secondary continued their Cinderella story yesterday with a 1-0 victory over Central Zone champions Carapichaima in a BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) "Big Five" quarter-final at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago.
The new Tobago Zone kingpins, who secured their maiden Championship Division title last week, had 17-year-old striker Stefano Wright to thank for the winner in a close encounter. Just four minutes into the second half, Wright thumped home from close range off a cross ball, spoiling Carapichaima's perfect record in 2007.
The victory puts the previously little-known Mason Hall in Friday's SSFL Big Five semi-final against East champs San Juan Secondary Comprehensive at Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar. Mason Hall manager Rostan Wood was impressed with the opposition given by the visiting Carapichaima squad, but felt all his team's hard work had paid off in the encounter.
"The game was a 50-50 game," Wood told the Express after the win. "Anybody could have won. They [Mason Hall] have been training very hard and they still have room for improvement. But they worked according to the game plan, they followed what the coach told them, and the result showed."
In other SSFL action yesterday, 2006 North Zone winners Mucurapo Secondary Comprehensive only just escaped relegation when they thumped five goals past Diego Martin Secondary goalie Andrew Waldron.
Goals by five different strikers not only sunk their opponents, but forced a spirited--and unlucky--Diego Martin to the bottom of the "North" standings and into automatic demotion from the Championship Division.
Kevin Molino, Mutar Taylor, Akel Bruce, Allan Joseph and Kern St Louis all struck the net, turning a 3-0 hafltime lead into a devastating loss for their opponents, who have added an element of excitement, even against the better sides in the league this year. Only an inferior goal difference to Trinity College stopped "Diego" from returning to the top flight of schools football next year. The "Big Five" competition continues tomorrow with North Zone champs St Anthony's College and their South Zone counterparts Naparima College facing off at the Hasely Crawford Stadium from 3.45 p.m.

Yesterday's BG T&T SSFL Results:

Big Five

Mason Hall 1 (Stefano Wright 49th) v Carapichaima 0

Mucurapo 5 (Mutar Taylor, Akel Bruce, Kevin Molino, Allan Joseph, Kern St Louis) v Diego Martin 0

Mason Hall tackle Carapichaima.
By: Kern De Freitas (Express).

First-time Tobago Zone champions Mason Hall Government Secondary and their Central counterparts Carapichaima Senior Comprehensive kick off the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Big Five tournament today at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Tobago from 3.45 p.m.
For both teams, the league competition has ended, and only one of them will grace the semi-final stage come Friday. The teams are yet to meet on the field, with Mason Hall being the "babes" of the competition--in only their fourth year of existence and their second in the Championship Division. They aim, however, to take full advantage of the "underdogs" tag.
Carapichaima themselves do not know what it means to be national league champions. This year, according to manager Steve Gopeesingh, they intend to change that fact.
Last year, the Central Zone champs stumbled in a 5-1 whipping at the hands of Mucurapo Secondary Comprehensive in their quarter-final fixture. Gopeesingh explained that goalkeeping was his team's "Achilles Heel" in that loss. He is more assured this year.
"We're looking for a victory tomorrow (today) to be honest," Gopeesingh told the Express, yesterday. "To be honest, we're all confident of reaching the final."
Their less experienced opponents, who are enjoying home advantage today, will be hoping to spoil Carapichaima's perfect record.
On Saturday night, coach Sherwin Jordan hosted the entire Mason Hall squad at his Patience Hill home ahead of their final training session early yesterday morning. Jordan is hoping that same togetherness his team is exhibiting will be the key to victory.
"If the team stick to the instructions that they're given, I think that we have enough strength to win against Carapichaima," Jordan said, during a training session on Friday.
Strikers Jeffon Cornwall (14 goals) and Trent Lougheed (9) have been prolific for Carapichaima, and are two of the SSFL's top scorers thus far. Mason Hall have their own stars they rely on, such as striker Benton Charles (7) and influential attacking midfielder Daneil Cyrus, the only national Under-17 player from Tobago.
Cyrus is the team's talisman and is well respected by all the players, who feel they can be more than a handful for the visitors from Central Trinidad. That will not daunt Carapichaima, who have their eyes on the prize.
"We're focusing on our game, we're not focusing on the opponents," Gopeesingh declared.
With no history between the teams, it will be tough to predict a winner. But when the final whistle sounds, only one will be moving on to the Big Five semis.
North Zone competition will conclude today with Mucurapo and Diego Martin Secondary battling to stave off relegation, at the Fatima College Ground, in a bottom-of-the-table clash. Trinity, who have completed their schedule of matches, are also in the relegation zone.
