« on: September 11, 2016, 10:12:46 AM »
Since the Hex started in 1998 it took 11-16 pts to get 4th spot and took 14-17 pts to get 3rd spot depending on how competitive the Hex is this time there is 2 weak teams in TT and Panama that means there is going to be more pts for the rest of teams.
What TT has to do is 1st hire a coach that can coach at the international level that will make TT competitive with the big 4 and those pts would be reachable with S Heart in charge we just competing for the wooden spoon.

What makes you say Panama is a weak team?  Going into the hex I would rate them above Honduras.

Three telling stats...
We have never beaten Costa Rica
We have never lost to Mexico in Trinidad
We have never lost in Honduras.

At least if my memory serves.
We must play to win at home for sure. However, we have gone to Panama and Honduras in the worst of times and gotten a point or three in the past. It is very doable to get top 4 here and possible to get top three. Never have our chances been so great as this since before 06. I think 06 was lucky as we were fourth with more losses than wins.
We can actually look for 10-12 points before our last 3 games if we get something from the opener against Costa Rica, against whom we have the worst record.

We have lost once in Honduras.

Until the WICB is replaced with competent people who have the best interest of West Indies cricket in mind we will never see the best players in the test team.

Panama were robbed last night plain and simple.  That referee should be suspended.  If the elbow from Carlos Vela on the Panamanian player was not a red card then there is no way Tejada should have received a red card.

As for the first penalty call, that was pure crap.  Torres fell on the ball and as soon as he realized his elbow touched the ball he tried to get his hand out of the way.  He was falling with his back to the ball and could not see where the ball was in relation to his hand.

What I saw last night sure as hell looked like someone was determined to make sure Mexico made it to the finals by whatever means necessary.

I long to see the day when both Mexico and USA fail to qualify for the world cup because until then I don't think Concacaf will change the way they operate.

I must admit I am not a fan of Chanderpaul ...his poke and block style of batting
quickly puts me to sleep.

If he wants to help the youngsters , retire, get a coaching certificate and groom them.
How many has he mentored over the last 5 years ...he is still selfish Paul ..personal goals.

Its impossible as a player to do so...Give them your spot on the team...Playing will help,
not carrying water and gloves ..etc

Even though Chanderpaul's batting style may be boring it is exactly the kind of batting the West Indies need right now in test cricket.  Innings after innings I watch our current batsmen throw away their wicket playing stupid shots.  The one batsman that seems to value his wicket is the youth Braithwaite from Barbados.  His batting style is boring too but with the current state of our batting is the final score that matters not batting for show.

« on: July 11, 2014, 04:26:17 PM »
No way Asia should have more spots than Concacaf.

14
Why have this game at 2pm?  I thought the objective is to have as big a crowd as possible?  These administrators never cease to baffle me.

15

Socafighter the points you raise above should explain why West Indies cricket has reached the state it is in currently.  Lack of forward thinking.  It is foolish to have a deadline prior to the date of the final of the IPL for the reason you pointed out.  In case West Indies players have to play in the final.  The thought process of these administrators (or should I say the lack of a thought process) is sad.

And, why is he banned from the entire test series?  Wasn't it supposed to be just the first test?  Good luck winning a test series with Sillyman Benn.

16
No wonder the West Indies Test team is crap.  All one has to do is look at the scores from this four day tournament.  The overall batting in the region is atrocious.  West Indian batsmen lack patience.

I think the Canada move would have been a smart one to expand the CPL to new markets.

I think it is silly of the CPL organizers to use the names of the islands as part of the franchise name.  Using the names of capital cities would have been the more appropriate thing to do.  Many fans are still looking at the CPL as a competition of national teams, which it is not.  Which is why some people like Weary refuse to support it.

If fans realize that the CPL is now a franchise league like the BPL or La Liga and put nationalism aside they may be able to see the benefits of the new format.  By using the island names as part of the franchise name CPL organizers are making it more difficult for fans to put aside nationalism.

Many T&T fans are upset because over the last few years the T&T red force had enjoyed international success in T20 cricket and built a internationally recognized name brand.  So yes, in the short run T&T might have lost some potential international glory but I believe in the long run the CPL is better for the region as a whole including T&T.

Also, I would eventually like to see the CPL expand to 8 franchises with 2 franchises in North America.  Toronto would be my first choice followed by a franchise in either New York or Miami.  Two North American franchises have the potential to boost the league's revenue by increasing crowd support and generating TV revenue.

I really hope this is Sammy's last test match.  He should be replaced with Dwayne Bravo.  I would also recall Ravi Rampaul to the test team and give the captaincy to Dinesh Ramdin.  I don't see any other candidates for the captaincy on this team right now.

He should be given a few more matches to prove himself at test level.

The West Indies selectors and a lot of the current players are a joke.  People talk about Sammy being a good captain but how is throwing away your wicket playing stupid shots good captaincy?  Sammy is a waste of a pick on the test team.  His game is better suited for 20/20 and one day cricket.  I think Dwayne Bravo would be a better choice for tests over Sammy.

A lot of our test batsmen bat with a 20/20 mentality.  They are very impatient and give away their wickets needlessly.  Powell and Sammy in the first inning and Gayle in the second inning are prime example.  Somebody need to get these batsmen to change their mentality in tests or we will continue to get the same results.

Anybody know why Chanderpaul isn't moved up the order?  I would even ask him to open the batting.  He is being wasted in the middle because no one will stick around long enough with him.

I hope this is the last test series we see Sammy on the test team.

Bravo should step down as captain.

I was going to chime in here with 'Yes' we have won games while wearing the white kit, but I see that everyone pretty much answered also.

Regardless, I really rather our red uniforms.  I always found the red kit to be the 'baddest'.
