I am always impressed with CR's abiltiy to keep most of their talent in the country and maintain a high level of football..
That's because they have one of the strongest leagues in Central America. One of their biggest Clubs Saprissa is a feeder club for the NT.
Saprissa is definitely a big club. Alajuela too. very high standard of football in that league, and always thousands of fans.
There's also a few others that are big like Heredia and Puntarenas who was recently in some south American tournament and did well. CR has a strong league and it is very professional. Guatemala has the strongest league in Central America although their NT has not been nearly as successful as Costa Ricans.
Warlord, them chapines would love you for saying that. Guatemala league has two good teams: Municipal and Communicaciones (Cremas). That is it. They rest are usually also rans. The Costa Rica league is a solid league for the most part from almost top to bottom. I personally like the Honduran league cause Olimpia is the king in dey. And they is a big club too.
El Salvador's league is the pits. One team in dey: FAS.

Guys,
Keep in mind from Jan 7 to Jan 17 Haiti played five official games in 10 days. On top of it they play two training games on Jan 3 and 5. So that 's why the coach bench five starters (to rest and to avoid losing players due cartons accumulation). Now the goal is the $120K.4 me the coach makes the right decision.
Now hopefully see u in final for the round two. 1-0 for trinidad.

I have a question Why is it that top international clubs stop coming to Trinidad and Tobago? Is it because they get big money to go to the United States and Asia or we just stop inviting them to our island. With that said I meet the directors of Falkirk football club during the World Cup I ask him to bring his team to Trinidad he said that it would be too much money to travel all the way to Trinidad but it sound like a good idea
I say the Pro league should invite four international club during there summer brake for a mini tournament with four teams from the PFL that way some off our players could get some exposures. Let meh say this I had a lot off ideas before if some off you remember my ideas for the PFL 4 years ago they now starting to implement them hopefully this could be done in the next two years only because this summer will be the Gold Cup.
So know lets say the PFL loves this ideas and wants to run with what teams should they invite to generate excitement among the T&T pubic
psssst.... Allyuh miss de best part... and the knowledgable heads on here know the fellahs who calling me stupid is some assholes who dont know football, unless you fall in that category of the ignorant....
Soldier,
I go have to disagree with you on Bleeder.
I sorry but I write off your credibility in this thread with this one line yuh type here.QuoteThe World Cup is the highest level of football, and Theobald played well in all three games. On defense, his attempts were more effective than the other defenders.
Breds there were two TT mysteries in the WC...the first one was why Latapy only get 20 min.
The second one was why Theobold get 270 min.
I have to admit, that was funny.
My statement is not based on this single game:
I'm not sure how many of you saw the T&T vs. Martinique Digicel Caribbean Cup game last night, but one player definitely stood out from the rest - Densill Theobald. His passing, defensive tactics, technique, control and confidence expressed a level of superiority that is not yet possessed by any of the other players on the team. Quite frankly Densill Theobald is Premiership Material. Just a few out of order words cost him that in Scotland - it clearly had nothing to do with professional skill. There is no question that he should be this team's captain, and that he should continue to be featured in the senior team.
When I say 'Quite frankly Densill Theobald is Premiership Material.' I do not mean that his performance in this game makes him such, because he has had this skill long before - which is why he made the WC starting line up. My point is that the player is at an elevated technical level to his current colleagues and that this was exemplified within this particular game.
Either way, you have to be able to separate player analysis from a team analysis and acknowledge that the performance of the team is not an indication of the player's technical skill or understanding of the game.
Fella, you gotta be kiddin me? We assemble a jokey squad to play in the Caribbean Cup and he may or may not be a class above. However, there are several reasons why he can't handle the Premiership at this point in his career:
1. His play is too slow
2. He is just not physical enough
3. I see everybody talking about vision and I yet to see it
4. He is so low down the pecking order in terms of quality in Trinidad is a joke.
Just b/c the man make the WC squad don't mean a thing to the Premiership teams or any foreign team for that matter.
Be realistic on the forum. The kid may be good but he eh that good!
Carib-briton
U got to be rational. You guys (Trini and Bob Marley-Jamaica) are always talk about badly and all about poverty and Crime. Now it is time for us to remind to in the poverty we have prestige and dignity and respect. Never they will have a black out within a game. Thats a shame for Oil country just face the reality no...face it Those Trinis did not deserve any excuse
recently I had in the rastar country there were gunfire while a soccer game was playing..!!!!!!!!!! Hey not in Haiti
By the way:
1)u guys always talk about 74 do u remember that Bahrain cry about bad call for the penality that u had against Bahrain. U got to respect the call of the referee whatever it is a bad or good call.
Guys, Haiti is working toward political and economic stability then u will see the real Haitian Soccer team when the economy and stability are there.
SHAME ON TRINIDAD GUYS JUST FACE THE REALITY IS A REALLY U SEE WE ADD ANOTHER GOAL DONT COUNT IN HAITI TO SAVE UR ASS IN THAT ROUND U WILL GET KICK HARDLY.
This is unnecessary. What's this? So much to say about world cup tickets him being a robbin liair but when it comes down to the blunt question above....silence. Why? Because every trini know deep down you'd still be drinkin out of coconut shells without DA MAN
Obviously you have no affiliation to Trinidad or the rest of the Caribbean for that matter. As a person of Jamaican/Trinidadian descent, I don't appreciate your comment about "drinking out of coconut shells" that is very dumb. Caribbean people are not one dimensional types of people like you ignant white folk so don't make such a stupid comments. You should try educating yourself before making dumb comments.
Why is that uneccessary. Yu nuh si sey mi a defend mi own star. why mi fi mek white eediat bwoy come tell mi bout 'coconuts'. Dat nuh mek it. Mi a defend it

It's time for the Bajans to get creamed. Haiti is definitely going to send TnT a message come Monday. And I know that Martinique is really gonna come all out to win. The coach and players said that there won't be any room for errors against TnT or Barbados.
Haiti 3 Pts.
TnT 1 Pt
Barbados 1pt
Martinique 0 pt.
I say qualifying for the next stage would be acceptable. After that happen we can sort out a lot of things that is not going as planned. We have to be realistic about things. It's is going to be a tough tournament. In sports 90% of the game is played in the head, and a lot of the teams believe they can beat us so we cannot just sit back and say we are better. we have to know our strengths and our limitations and try to play to our strengths.
It could be easier but it's not, so lets try to support as much as we can.
I agree with this. Given the circumstances, qualifying for the next stage would be acceptable, because at least we would still qualify for the Gold Cup.
Doh get me wrong, I really hope we can go out there and fight and win the Digicel cup, but as long as we qualify for the Gold Cup there would at least be something positive from the experience. I think the gold Cup is another important step in the development of our football for the 2010 qualifying campaign, and without it, it would really set us back a lot
Disagree with you there. It's important for the Soca Warriors to win this Digicel Cup. After all it is at home and nothing less is acceptable!
Of course the Gold Cup is important and the ONLY guarantee of a Gold Cup berth is to win the damn tournament. There's a lot of pride and bragging rights here and teams like Haiti and Cuba never won a Caribbean cup title ever.
The top 4 teams from the digicel qualify for the gold cup, if i'm not mistaken. So as long as we make it out of the group stage we make it to the Gold Cup. Can anyone confirm this?

Warlord, who said that the French invented carnival?
I don't think ppl believe that. Who said that to you?
Many here previously indicated that the "french influence" in Trinidad and Tobago resulted in the birth of Carnival. That is simply NOT true. Not because you use the Terms Dimanche gras, Jouvert means that Carnival was French influenced. It is African and West African at that.
No one said that.
What was said was that the existence of French names was evidence that the French made a contribution to TnT culture.
You are clearly dense. Our carnival and our people are hundreds years removed from Africa. If it were possible to transplant present or even past West African celebrations wholesale into TnT right now, it will not be Carnival.
When I show people from Africa what we do for Carnival dey eye does want to pop out their head because it is very different from what they do, despite the common origins of our Carnival, our Culture and theirs.
It has evolved from its initial origins which include Africa, Catholicism, Colonialsm (yes including the French), indigenous populations and the circumstances and history that brought us to the West Indies/Caribbean/ 10 deg N latitude.
Being Pan-Africanist and racially proud is great but if it is achieved by deliberately ignoring non-African elements that contribute to what we are then it is delusional and dishonest.
May be that's in your version of history!Warlord, who said that the French invented carnival?

You forgot to mention its roots in the Catholic Church

Warlord, who said that the French invented carnival?

Hold on! Who were the West-Africans who influenced Trini Carnival? Were they the ones remaining in West-Africa or those who were brought here as slaves and whose cultures merged with European and Amerindian cultures (Arawak, Tainos, Caribs etc) to become Afro-Caribbean? According to what some of you said in this forum, during the Haitian Revolution thousands of slaves and their masters migrated to TnT and others follow from other French colonies. Those are the people Warlord was talking about when he said TnT's culture had no connection with the French/Haitians. He unsuccesfully tried to prove that TnT's culture is more a product of Spanish culture than anything else when some of us here were simply pointing out similarities in TnT and French cultures. And now, he's defending the influence of West-African cultures in TnT?
Before you support somebody, you may want to first find out what that person is about. Make sure you also sign the 'teeth structuring' and 'head shapes' thesis he was working on in regard to the West-Africans.
By the way, what do West-Africans have in common with Warlord? His quote, "West-Africans have more similarities with you than someone like me" So, why is he using the West-African card now. He was cornered and was just looking for a way out. You probably are smarter than he is. Don't fall for that.
hahaha no... thanks VB but i think ill address him with an open letter.Ey somebody please move Warlord's last post to its own thread.
Warlord, in all seriousness, you sound like you have a learning disability.
Here, please register. Learning Disabilities Association of America

Dear Warlord, I believe I may know a semi retarded sloth that has larger range of vocabulary than you and boy goofy certainly uses it with more wit and guile than you... Perhaps you should stick to conversing with rocks for now... check us in about 10 to 15... hell make it about 30 years then yuh could check us.
for now... in your words of grace.. latahz yuh battyrashole!
yours truely... Jefferz.
And your point is what fassyhole? eee....wha smaddy tek yu girl? Bounty mek a tune fi workless bwoy like unnuh!
so i guess this means you are indeed absolutely oblivious to the the fact that you are obviously seriously mentally challenged.... or is it that your just jamaican??
either means the same thing.
Dont get me wrong guys, I am not pro Warlord, but if his point is that the term "French influence" depicts the European culture as being dominant or the "main player" in the development of Trinidadian culture, then I agree with him. But if his point is that there is no connection between Trinidad and the Afri-Francophone peoples in the Caribbean, then I disagree with him.
The latter statement was his original point. In fact the subject wasn't Carnival specifically but Trinidad Culture in general andwas been adamant that the French played no part. Carnival was just an example to show that the French had any influence at all. It obviously served Warlord's innane purposes to make that the subject.
Carnival is obviously the fruit of African as well as French culture and no one disputed that, the only one believing that it has one absolute origin was Warlord.
I prepared to let this one rest because it has now descened into a trollish pissing match.
All we need to do is qualify fuh the gold cup if we win it we win it
However, while there are clearly Roman and French influences in the festivals of New Orleans, Rio, Trinidad, etc., the roots of these pre-Lenten festivals lie in Africa where, ironically, it had nothing to do with Lent at all.Quote
Why are you determined to prove yourself as a clown?Quote
JDB he's acually correct in this case.
That's exactly the point I was making but he still didn't get it. The fact is the French has no influence watsoever in Brazil's Carnival yet it is very similar to TNT's
I think most people here are believing in "Baybylon system" as far as these Europeans are concerned. But facts are facts and the culture and traditions are of W. African origins.
The next thing I'll probably hear from some is that Ska/Reggae was influenced by some European too
What is similar in both T&T and Brazil is the dominant presence of the Catholic fate, which seems to be a recurring theme in most of the World's Carnivals.
BTW Ska/Reggae has quite alot of American influences.
I think you got it wrong there. American hip hop was influenced by Jamaican ska/reggaemusic. The evolution of hip hop started in NY in late 60's with DJ's trying to rap (talk fast) over a beat which is founded from our dancehall/ska reggae. Jamaican DJ's were doing this long b4 anyone else in the world.
If you like I could post you a full article on how we influenced Hip Hop/Rap in America.
warlord ska has american influences ska came about when they mixed the mento with the american R&b
