Latapy? Why people cannot have accurate information in their articles?  Journalism is a big joke these days.

Brent Sam said "Once I started to take the game seriously, I realized that I real good and have real talent".  The U20 coach is saying Brent does not like to train so what Brent should have said was "Once I started to take the game seriously, I realized that I real good and have real talent so badman like me don't need to train"

Shaka should be quiet.  He collected 4 of the best from Pres in the 1986 national intercol semis.

Anyway, congrats to the Pres team and staff.  Long overdue win.

Football / Re: Beenhakker back in charge.
« on: June 14, 2013, 04:22:50 PM »
This two month assignment for Leo is probably driven by several factors such as the timing of the Gold Cup, availability of funds (we can only afford two months right now), Leo looking to bank some more money for his retirement and we came knocking on his door, etc.

If we do well in the Gold Cup potential next steps would be find more money from sponsors to keep Leo or find another "high" profile but cheaper coach since we are a more attractive team.

People talking about his age but if the man mentally and physically capable of doing the job then age is irrelevant. It is not like he is out there playing on the field. Carlos Alberto Parreira is 70 and Scolari is 64.  Beenhakker is 70, so he is too old for us but Parreira and Scolari not too old for a big side like Brazil.

Now would I hire Beenhakker as coach?  Most likely not since he may not be coaching till 2018.  However, I would hire him in a similar role as Parreira to work with the national coach.  There is one problem with this plan, there are no good local coaches so we are back to the only option, the quick fix option of hiring him as a coach and hoping his assistants learn enough from him to eventually take control.

Pardners may be able to answer this. But has contact been made with the schools left in the competition? I don't expect them to boycott and stand with pres as asylumseeker suggests but would say something if they even play under protest to show that they disagree with how things have gone

There were some discussions with other schools, but not to deal with the issue of playing under protest.  It was more in line with the administration of the league and some decisions by the SSFL.  It was more like the coaches bouncing ideas off each other.

Pardners,

What happened yesterday? According to the Newsday (http://www.newsday.co.tt/sport/0,169915.html) both teams did not show up.  Other media outlets state Shiva won by default.

Pres beat Arima 1-0 through a Civaughn Dimsoy goal.

Hear nah...as is having to play away is not enough, even with the impressive unbeaten record in the zone...but the officiating does be a next thing Pres does have to fight up with boy.  Talk about a raw deal the southerners does get up there.  The ref play about 15 mins time-added-on when there were very few time stopping infringements during the second half.

The schedule was madness.  How could a team whether it was Arima or Pres play on Monday then travel to Tobago to play on Wednesday?  Basically 2 games in 48 hours.  The semis should have been no earlier than Thursday and winner of the Arima/Pres game should have had home field advantage to eliminate the travel.

And the North, Central and Tobago teams would've played one game and into the final eh.  I not sure how it was last year, but year before was the same thing.  If is only five teams, they should at least rotate every year so the south and east zone winners wouldn't always play more games (away) to reach the finals.

If it was up to me and they insist on a knockout, Central would play Tobabo every year for a berth in the semis.  Those two zones play the least amount of games in zonal play.  Ideally I would prefer a round robin for the Big 5 so each team play 4 games: 2 home and 2 away.  The team with the most points win just like the days of the Big 7.

Pres won 2-1.

 :applause: :applause: :applause:

This squad has to be deep and must be playing with conviction and belief.

Not sure about the deep part but definitely agree with the conviction and belief.  The squad is about 20 deep, 2 on national duty and 2 injured so only 16 "regular" players left.

Pres kept their 100% record in the league with a 4-0 win over P'ville.  Big 7 was still around when I left school in the 90s.  I think it was around 2000 it became knockout.

Correct, but not Mottley. I believe his pb was 45.2.

I honestly thought Robert Guy was in the mix but couldn't find the info to substantiate this.

VB

Robert's personal best was 45.61.

OK, but what does Edwin Roberts have to do with this. We talking sub 45s.

VB

Are you smoking crack?  You were talking about not being able to substantiate Robert Guy running sub 45 and I posted his personal best.  I never said anything about Edwin Roberts.

I was there for that game.  Pres was leading 1-0 and totally dominating the match. Rain start to pour around the 30th min and by the start of 2nd half it was mud swamp.  Signal Hill took over the game and scored 3.  They weres running in the mud and large pools of water like Usain Bolt and awe looking like Jared before he went on the Subway diet. It was the perfect example of the difference between eating yam and KFC.  One of the best games I ever saw though, even Bago ppl gave us props despite the cutarse.

Evans Wise by far the best dribbler but Jughead by far a more productive player.  Wise use to pick up a ball on the half line beat 2 men end at the edge of the penalty box beat a 3rd and then try to beat a 4th and lose the ball.  While trying to beat the 3rd and 4th he use to end up back at the half line  ;D
