Football / Re: LEO BEENHAKKER New TT head coach

Beenhakker has a very good track record, winning 3 league titles with real madrid, 2 with ajax and 1 with feyenoord.  Also he qualified saudi arabia for the world cup.  However, we should not get too carried away.
He suddenly quit Ajax in 2003, coached America in Mexico in 2004 and got fired because they did not win anything although they had big name players like Blanco playing.
Don't misinterpret what I am saying.  He is a very good coach and it is a very good move to hire him, but let us not be blinded.

I agree with palos.  Hiring Beenhakker and Latapy are good moves.  Hopefully Nakhid and Latas can get along.

This is also a good opportunity for Latapy to learn from a very experienced coach so he can improve his coaching skills.

Leo Beenhakker quit the post at Ajax in 2003 due to personal reasons and began coaching in Mexico.

Stern John might be our best forward but he is out of form.  He need a spot on the bench.  It might work to our advantage having him come on in the second half and play 20 - 25 minutes.

You have some valid points but I believe Jack Warner's plan is for TnT to get fourth place and try to get to win the playoff.  We have only 1 point form 3 games, there is no way we can catch USA, Mexico and Costa Rica.  Although the team played well against Costa Rica, it is obvious St. Clair track record in the past 12 months was not good.
Excuses like the field was bumpy so we lost is not good enough...I guess the other team did not play on the bumpy field.

A foreign coach definitely will not have all the answers especially with the short time frame between now and our next match but the national team need a change.

The real problem is not only changing the coach but the administration.  We are in the middle of WC qualifiers and we playing friendlies against Atlanta Silverbacks and Mexico playing Argentina.  Obviously the people responsible for organizing friendlies are not doing their job.

It is too late to argue and criticize now, the new coach must get the support of the players and the fans.  Hopefully he will use the serivces of local coaches so he can have an idea of the strengths and weaknesses of our players.

One can argue that St. Clair tried his best but certain things did not make sense.  For example, we played very well against Guatemala but lost 5-1.  I have never heard of such sh*t.  Let Brazil, Italy, or Argentina coach say anything stupid as that and they will be laughin stocks for life.  Only in Trinidad that statement will hold water.

Football / Re: Avery John

A lot of people have questions regarding Avery John.  An inside source says that Bertille has some personal issues with Avery...in trini language..he doh like Avery head.  This is a long standing issue but Avery is a very humble person so he will not say anything negative about Bertille.  Once he is called for national duty and he is not injured, he will always represent his country.  But Bertille issue with Avery is more important than winning so he will continue to play Dennis Lawrence and any other idiot who claim they can defend, once it results in Avery not playing.
