Lawrence has a terrible record, and I really wanted him to do well having been mentored by Martinez for so long, but alas we don't have Belgium quality players

People acting like dennis is a big coach because he was on Martinez's staff. He was just a scout.  Not an assistant coach.  Dennis is a waste of time.

Woo Ling is still an average player at best.

San Juan's keeper looks a lil rusty. Maybe from not being challenged match after match?

From the highlights I can’t say he looked rusty.  I saw good finishing from the Green Machine and poor positioning from the keeper.

Curious to see the list as well. The best players in SSFL played games yesterday so I wondering if they trained in the morning then played school football in the evening or they did not get selected in the national pool.  Players such as Riley, Sween, Hospedales,St. Rose, Coryat, etc

Sensible procedure? Trinis always in bobol. All they had to do was check MOE as you said. But they knew what the answer would be so they tried a thing and was hoping no one caught them. How can you go back a form? Anybody with sense know you could only repeat a form. I willing to bet these 3 players are done with school. The principal and coach should be punished for trying to use these children.

Always felt he was overrated. He never even dominated SSFL. The videos that were floating around highlighting his skills were basically him making some basic passes with a good soundtrack against poor opposition. Woo Ling was simply a decent player.

USA, Canada and Mexico won the bid to host the 2026 WC...hopefully Trump don't f**k up the relations anymore and T&T has their house in order to actually qualify!

what does this mean for the amount of qualifiers from this area?

2026 will be 48 team world cup with 6.5 spots for Concacaf. So qualifiers will have 3.5 spots up for grabs.  If we can't make it we need to focus on netball.  First step is to get rid of DJW.

Keep an eye on Dwight St. Hillaire 200/400m runner.  He is at the University of Kentucky. He has the potential to join the 4x4 relay pool of Cedenio,, Richards and Lendore.  Solomon, Gordon and Quow getting up in age.

FIFA will not back this play as it would detract from the World Cup. I don't see this going anywhere.

I agree that FIFA will not be keen in sanctioning this tournament.  Clubs will not be keen on allowing their players to participate in a tournament of no value and risk injury.
The US can go ahead and still schedule the competition but I expect most teams (except US) fielding "B" squads.

Some of these members are absolutely amazing to me I swear. After one game and some of you are already calling for the coaches scalp? It's a proven fact that we don't match up well with caribbean opposition and struggle tremendously with CFU teams as oppose to the central americans whom we tend to have an easier time with. please give the coach a chance, as it stands we're in the rebuilding phase and the experiment is on. Please be patient folks.

We struggle with CFU teams because we are not good.  We tend to have an easier time with Central Americans, I am not sure what you are saying since we don't beat them either.  I understand your point about giving Lawrence time but at the same time Tite came in and turned around Brazil immediately.  Lawrence with the team a while, had all the WCQ games to iron out stuff so I think it reasonable for people to at least expect us to beat Grenada.  I am not saying Lawrence is Tite and we have the same talent as Brazil, I am saying we should at least be able to beat Grenada by now.

Good morning.

And there you have it.

The TFA U15 program has worked.

Jaiye Sheppard (former Scarborough Secondary School student) wins the 2017 SSFL Premier Division with Presentation San Fernando and Adriel George was instrumental in  Bishop's High School's 2017 Tobago Zone SSFL U19 first ever League title and promotion to the 2018 Premier Division.

This program was initiated this year (2017). Both made it all the way to the Trinidad and Tobago National U15 team earlier this year. Imagine that eh....

Jaiye is very talented.  Probably the most talented in his age group.  He and other guys like Judah Garcia, Jordan Riley and Pappy represent the future of our football.  We need to develop them and not let them just be SSFL stars.

I really don't care about Shiva but this is a bucket of BS ..so what ..a kid played a club match and the school is penalized to that degree..this is school boy football ..it's for the the kids.  :bs: :bs: :bs:

There are rules to be followed.  Now if the rules are unclear, outdated, etc. then they should be changed. I feel bad for Shiva but their management dropped the ball big time in regards to following the rules.

Tobago 28,

I agree with you which leads to the need to replace the admin but I don't see it happening.  We Trinis like to complain but do nothing at the end of the day.  The people who have the qualifications to replace DJW need to come forward with a plan to get rid of that clown.

Football / Re: Fire Dennis Lawrence Thread.

VERY responsible comments by Dennis during the post-match press conference. When asked about the composition of the teams he would field in October, Dennis noted that he would respect the integrity of the hex. Other teams still have much to play for, so Trinidad & Tobago would play its role in making teams fight for points.

I sort of agree with respecting the integrity of the Hex.  However, we need to start "building" for 2022.  Mexico already qualify plus we dropping 3 points there regardless of who we select so I say give the youths a chance there since it not affecting the table. Anyone who is a doubt for 2022 campaign should not be selected for this game.  Look at Venezuela, they selected a few stars from their U20 team that finished 2nd at the world cup.  They drew both games including one in Argentina.  The keeper from the U20 team was brilliant in both games.

As for the USA game we should field our "strongest" team since that game will impact the outcome of the Hex.  However, I doubt our "A" team can get a result but would love for us to poison the US world cup dream

But seriously can we make anyone fight for points with the toots we playing?  Lawrence is a yes man for DJW.  I still think he can be successful as a coach but he needs to get his balls from DJW handbag before any positive stuff can happen.

Congo,
I see where you are coming from but the challenge is getting 5 -7 players to agree to make that move.  At the end of the day they seeing our history of poor administration so the group scene may not happen.  They probably waiting on others to make the move such that no one is making the move.  The Federation needs to sit down with a group of players and convince them at the same time.  However, I doubt they are capable of doing that so we stuck in this current mess.

These players need to make up the nucleus of our teams going forward. We should only be working with "finished products" at the national level. Let others develop and we utilise. Let's get them together for the next Olympics first.

A majority foreign born/based team as well as a good/big name coach or manager should be a step in the right direction.

Imagine a team with Sancho and Bostock, Rohan Ince?, Tom Ince? and other foreign born with a the additonal mls players and Levi Garcia.

The reality is the foreign born players not gonna get a run out for england unless they are really talented. I think we don't even have a chance at getting Sancho cause he is at a very competitive level and is already earmarked for a future role in England squad. I am sure we can convince those in lower end of pl, championship and league 1. League 2 I believe is a stretch and should only be encouraged if the player is young or is a star of the league. Zamora was capped twice for England and discarded. We need to begin the conversation with these players at a much earlier age. We took Jake Thompson to the World Cup at age 19.

We should attract them with prospect of playing in the olympics or even under 20 world cup.

Prospect?  Those players not seeing it that way because, we are not qualifying for those tournaments.  So this whole prospect thing is pie in the sky right now.

We got a lot of blind supporters.  I still don't understand where they see all this talent we got that better than the players from the Concacaf teams.  I am starting to believe our coaches think the same so there is no need to improve the situation.  End result is constant failure by our national teams at all levels.  But don't worry, we have more than talent than the US, Mexico, Costa Rica, etc.  We have so much talent we can't beat Caribbean teams.

They have turned the corner for the 67th time. if they do the usual then the next test they will lose by 8 wickets or 200 runs. Hope I am wrong.

Richard Theodore was a central defender but also played as a right back.

Lack of mental preparation cannot be the only reason.

Socapro, I follow your logic and argument.  It makes sense but one area where ppl could challenge it is the fact 3 of the 4 SB were obtained at the HCS.  People still skeptical about that clock.
The true differentiator is practice.  You can have one team with an average 10.25 per leg blaze a team with an average of 10.1 per leg if the 10.25 team practiced a lot more compared to the other team.

4x1 women relay, MLA, Keshorn, 4x4 men relay and Jereem in 200 should be contenders for medals.  Cedenio and Jehue fully healthy and training in the right camps should be contenders.  Assuming no other break out stars, there is potential for 7 medals.  The reality is a lot can happen in 3 years, who expected Jehue would not even be a contender now after his success in 2013, injuries, coaching issues, lack of support, poor training facilities, poor admin, etc. that can line up like the swiss cheese diagram resulting in the potential of 7 medals becoming no medals.

The experience Khalifa got in the 2017 WC will help get ready to be a future star.  A lot of ppl cry her down but they seem to forget she is only 19.  Allyuh remember the 18 yr old Ato Boldon in 1992? What happened in that Olympics then what happened in 1996 and 2000.  Be patient and more importantly be supportive.
