Scoreline is very flattering for T&T....we look good to collect about 5 goals at least! Poor defending, no midfield, can't string more than 2 passes together .....just poor. We'll be lucky to come away with a draw here.

We eh play no opposition of consequence yet. Tempered celebration.

And the celebrations are over... :(

I'm not surprised though...I saw this coming from miles away. It's unfortunate for the young ladies though. They played their hearts out under a federation that doomed them to failure from the start.

PORT-AU-PRINCE—T&T was sent packing from the Caribbean Football Union Under-17 Girls Championship after a 3-1 loss to Jamaica in a must win final Group F match at the Stade Sylvio Cator, Port-au-Prince on Friday night.

Coming off a 2-2 draw with Bermuda in their opener on Monday, the T&T girls needed a win to at least reach the third place play-off for a chance to advance to the Concacaf Under-17 Women’s Championship.

However, the young ‘Reggae Girls’ also needed to a win after falling to Bermuda 2-3 on Wednesday and led by two goals from Olufolasade Adamolekun, they came from behind to beat T&T.

T&T went ahead in the sixth minute through Aaliyah Prince, but Jamaica drew level on the half-hour courtesy captain Monique Perrier. Adamolekun fired the Jamaicans ahead in the 69th and five minutes from full-time she added another to seal victory and second spot in the three-team pool with three points, one behind group winners Bermuda while T&T ended with one point.

In Group G, host Haiti blanked Cuba 3-0 to end with a maximum six points after a similar margin of victory over Puerto Rico, which ended second with a 4-0 trashing of the Cubans.

Today, Bermuda and defending champions Haiti will meet in the CFU final with both teams already qualified for the Concacaf Championship while Jamaica and Puerto Rico clash for third spot, with the winners earning the third and final CFU spot.

U-17 Women eliminated from WCQ series after 3-1 loss to Jamaica.

The Trinidad and Tobago Women’s National Under-17 Team was dumped from the Uruguay 2018 World Cup qualifying series without even facing CONCACAF opposition. The junior Women Soca Warriors were eliminated after a 3-1 loss to Jamaica today at the Stade Sylvio Cator in Haiti.

The result meant Trinidad and Tobago finished bottom of the Caribbean group, behind Bermuda and Jamaica. The Jamaal Shabazz-coached team failed to win any of their last three matches with two draws against Grenada and Bermuda preceding tonight’s loss.

Trinidad and Tobago attempted to play off the counter attack and got a dream start as star forward Aaliyah Prince put the junior Women Soca Warriors ahead after four minutes.

But, according to the TTFA Media, Jamaica were easily the superior team and pinned Trinidad and Tobago back in their half. The “Reggae Girlz” hit the post on two occasions before striker Monique Perrier equalised, after a blunder by Trinidad and Tobago goalkeeper Makeda Herbert.

Tied at one-goal apiece at the interval, Jamaica eased away in the second half courtesy of a Olufolasade Adamolekun double to seal a play off spot against Puerto Rico.

“I am disappointed that we are not able to continue our World Cup journey but it was definitely a game where we played with heart and determination,” Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Kara Trotman told the TTFA Media, “and it hurts that our efforts weren’t reflected in the final score.

“We have learnt a lot from this tournament and hope the program continues so we can really benefit from this experience.”

It was a bleak return for the women’s programme, which seemed to be set for take-off in January when the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) hired vaunted Italian coach Carolina Morace and a foreign contingent that included assistants Nicola Williams, Elisabetta Bavagnoli and Manuela Tesse. The overall package of the women’s coaches was rumoured to be US$24,000 per month.

Tesse, the Under-17 head coach, quit the programme in May while Bavagnoli was also quickly conspicuous by her absence.

Morace and Williams finally downed tools in July after the alleged non-payment of salaries by the David John-Williams-led football body.

“The right terminology is,” Morace told Wired868, “the contract [is] terminated for just cause.”

Still, the National Under-17 Team had been together since March and participated as a squad in the local WOLF competition.

But, even with two North America-based players—midfielders Sarah De Gannes and Trotman—in their line-up, Trinidad and Tobago could not even get to the semi-final round of the Caribbean stage.

After their 2-2 draw with Bermuda on Monday, Shabazz suggested that his team was not good enough.

“It is clear that we are a step or two behind the teams in this tournament,” Shabazz told TTFA Media. “It is our ability to stay organised and [our] grit and determination that is keeping us in the game. Where their legs ran out in this match, they applied their hearts and we were able to get a point.”

Trinidad and Tobago have now failed to qualify for two successive CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championships under the David John-Williams-led TTFA—despite being Caribbean champions in 2013. The two-island republic were also eliminated at the Caribbean stage of the Men’s Under-17 competition in 2017, despite being the host nation and having previously qualified in 2015.

Trinidad will host the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship from 18 to 20 January.

Am I seeing what I think are crutches being carried by a player on arrival in Panama? If indeed they are crutches, why does he have them?

Excuse my ignorance if it's the norm for teams to walk with crutches, it's just something I've never noticed in pics of football teams before?

Maybe you saw the handle of somebody's suitcase.

Third pic, fella behind Stern....definitely looks like a pair of crutches....Never seen that before...

WI actually performing creditably.

I fraid to talk bcz I don't want to goat mouth the side.

I guess even an A team eventually must have a good game.

VB

Tremendous improvement from the last match but we could have been in a much better position had a few catches been taken...if we didn't drop Root  on 8 and Stokes on 9 in the first innings our lead would have been much bigger. We dropped Root again on 10 in the second innings and it seems he's cashing in now.....We need  early wickets tomorrow morning or this match could get away from us. .....And why is Holder not  bowling Bishoo?!?

Great to see Blackwood back in the test squad after being overlooked in the past couple series. Good knocks by  Chase and Brathwaite too, but half centuries are not enough at this level. If we are to be competitive against England these fellas need to convert these 50s in to big hundreds! I don't expect us to win any of the tests against a superior England team, but good competitive cricket is what I'm looking forward to.

TOURIST KILLED ON MAHO BEACH AT ST. MAARTEN BY JET BLAST
by  Mike Killian

avgeekery.com

http://www.avgeekery.com/tourist-killed-on-maho-beach-at-st-maarten-by-jet-blast/

A 57-year old woman from New Zealand was killed on Maho Beach late Wednesday afternoon (July 12), after being blown off her feet by a jet blast from an aircraft taking off.

The beach is world famous to aviation enthusiasts and plane spotters, because of its extremely close proximity to St Maarten Princess Juliana Airport and the many large aircraft that service the field.

As an aircraft positions for takeoff, people will hold a fence while watching from behind the plane as it roars down the runway. It is an experience known as ‘fence surfing’.

According to the report, the woman was doing just that when she was blown over and hit her head on a concrete block; likely the sidewalk curb or small retaining wall.
The aircraft involved in today’s incident was a Boeing 737 owned by Caribbean Airlines, headed for Trinidad.

There have been previous incidents at Saint Maarten airport where people injured themselves at the beach while ‘fence surfing’.  In 2012, a viral video showed a young woman losing her grip on a fence and smashing her head into the concrete retainer wall.

It’s not uncommon for people on the beach to be tossed around by the jet blasts. It is part of the typical ‘avgeek’ experience that has made the tourist destination so popular. This is the first known incident though in which someone has been killed at the field by jet blast.

Jet Blast from a departing aircraft can be particularly dangerous. Depending on the distance from the aircraft, the blast can be strong enough to flip cars, vehicles and people. The danger area for a 737-sized aircraft can extend up to 1200 feet behind the aircraft.

General Discussion / Re: Transferring money from TT to North America
« on: July 06, 2017, 04:54:02 AM »
Appreciated. If you have any idea what the limits are, let me know.

As far as I know, there are no limits.

There may be restrictions with the shortage of US in the country.  When I traveled to the US recently, I had to get $100 one day, a $150 ah next day and $200 another day.  I had to check with the bank first and make sure they had the money before I go and get it.

Thankfully my cousin had some and I got some from him as well.....

This is what I mean. If everybody with money wanted to transfer to the US or Europe it might be a strain on the system, therefore, is there a limit, eg., if I have one hundred thousand TT and want to transfer to North America, can I do it in one shot and do I have to transfer to US dollars and the transfer. I am thinking logically there must be a limit. Some businessmen are dealing in millions etc.

VB

The $100,000 TT will first have to be converted to the USD equivalent then wired to your account in the US via the bank's intermediary (usually they use Bank of America). There is no charge for the conversion but there is for the transfer. Under normal circumstances there is no limit to how much you can transfer (as long as you can account for how you obtained the money)  but given the  Forex situation at the moment there might be limits imposed. However, as you are not obtaining any physical cash from the bank you may not have a problem.

Once Pakistan crossed 300 I thought it was all over for W.I.....( actually, I thought it was all over once they crossed 250!)....Great knock by J-Mo and by Nurse at the end...Good contributions by Lewis and baseball-man as well... We need to place more of a priority on rotating the strike and taking singles though....by the 16th over we faced 10 overs worth of dot balls  :P
Hopefully this augers well for the rest of the series!  Well played fellahs  :applause: :applause:

Was the flag raise for Kenwyne perhaps?

I was listening to Ramesh Ramdan's interview on Sportsmax and he too suggested that the flag may have been raised for Kenwyne as the assistant ref. wasn't aware of the trajectory of the ball when it was played , i.e he thought it was being played to Kenwyne rather than Joevin. However, after reviewing the footage again that doesn't seem likely; the flag was raised just after Joevin got the ball ( and Kenwyne also seemed to me to be marginally onside as well.)
It was a questionable call but we had some of those go in our favor as well....it's not the first time and, unfortunately, it wouldn't be the last time ...that's the game I guess...

Claims that Dwight Yorke 'DENIED" access to US

DWIGHT YORKE was denied entry into United States on Friday due to the travel ban imposed by US President Donald Trump.

Yorke, who is the former Soca Warriors captain and Manchester United striker, was denied transit access to Miami because he has an Iranian stamp on his passport, according to a tweet by media anchor Richard Keys.

The tweet from <@richardajkeys> read: “Well done @realDonaldTrump. Man U ambassador Dwight Yorke denied transit access to Miami cause he has an Iranian stamp on passport. #crazy”.

Iran was one of seven countries which Trump has banned citizens from travelling to the US last month.

The ban has since been reversed.

An online article from the UK Mirror stated that Richard Keys is an anchor on beIN Sports.

Yorke was headed to Miami after on commentating on the beIN Sports channel on Thursday night's football match where Manchester United's won 3-0 over St Etienne in the Europa League.

Jamaican gas prices now lower than Trinidad’s
BY RICHARD BROWNE (Observer)

The price for a litre of gas in Jamaica is now less than the world average, according to the latest figures from GlobalPetrolPrices.com.

The average price for a litre of gas in Jamaica is now US$0.88 or J$106.04. That compares to the world average price of US$0.97 (J$116.88).

But while Jamaican motorists are benefiting from prices that are just below the world average, Trinidadian consumers have much better prices. Since October 2015, Trinidadian prices for gas have been TT$3.11 per litre (US$0.48) and TT$1.72 (US$0.27) per litre for diesel.

The average price of diesel across the world yesterday was around US$0.83 per litre, according to GlobalPetrolPrices.com. Jamaica falls just below that rate with a price of US$0.78 or J$93.99 - placing it between Paraguay in Latin America and the mountain kingdom of Bhutan in Asia.

Does the title contradict the story??

Without a significant score from Chris Gayle we'll struggle to chase or set  anything above 120.....
What's Sammy's role in the team?? chief clapper???  He bowled just 2 overs in 4 matches and on the two occasions he batted he failed! Whoever we face in the semis will be licking their lips already.
