hope he buss up the mls nets like stern john did. Ill try to go to toronto sometime. or go to a red bulls game when he plays here

He not a goal scorer.  But he will create chances and plenty excitement.

Not a goal scorer. Isn't he being brought in as a striker?

from how it look in de practice scrimmages...he's gonna play up top with Jeff Cunningham..but when Danny Dichio comes back he might be used on the wing(my opinion)

1  Its all about comfort. so yes...

2 both.....These days, nobody wants a regular kangaroo leather boots....off centre lacing, control grips...etc..are what sells....(even though I dont feel the difference)...

3  Nike

4 Nike Tiempo Air Legends......gonna get d Nike Lasers this season though...

hurry and get dem Jay10..from a comfort standpoint it's equivalent to playing in a pair of air max 360's....the padding in the heel and sole are simply amazing...plus there is a colourway in T&T national flag colours ;)....i have the yellow with black and the T&T flag clourway..My favourite shoes to this day

Anybody have any idea how they evaluate these players during tryouts?  Do they just put them thru the paces or is it in-practice scrimmages or...??

In my mind it just seems so difficult to gauge unless you evaluate in actual game situations (and impractical as that may be).

from what i know and have been told, it's  a little bit of everything...skill,positioning on de field, technical ability, communication, fitness, adapting to different game/scrimmage situations, cohesion with teamates etc etc but at the end of the day every coach/organisation is different

1.I think it can help and also i think it can hurt(also alot depends on de position de player plays..in my opinion defenders shouldn't wear vapours or cleats that are too light cause more times playing their position requires being very physical(50-50 balls etc) and these cleats don't offer very much support) also  you have to know what cleat may best suit you as a player..whether you have wide feet, high arc etc etc

2.I think marketing plays a part but i honestly think that some of these sport companies are genuinely trying to meet the needs of their endorsed/sponsored athlethes which in turn benefits the average consumer

3.Nike

4.The old tiempo series from nike, the first predators (with rubber grips all around),the vapour/talaria series and most recently The Total 90 Laser(basically it's nike's version of the predator)

Football / De Player or De Shoes

With all de technology going into de construction(weight, comfort, waterproof.interchangeable studs etc)of football cleats(sorry ole timers it's evolved from just full grain leather and some rubber studs ;D) I ask the following questions....

1.Can a player's shoe help/hurt his performance on the field

2.Do you think it's just marketing ploys or do some of these features that are the main selling points for certain football cleats actually work

3.What is/are your favorite player(s) wearing

4.(regardless of what level played) What has been your favorite pair(s) of football cleats to date

he look thusty throughout de training session earlier today..didn't miss a beat and look as if he'd played with danny dichio and jeff cunningham somewhere before cause dem guys clicked well on de field... if de saying 'yuh does play de same way yuh train' carries weight then defenders have to brakes(whether he sign here or not)..

Somewhere we missed the point about compensation after the injuries. as though no one cared. i get the impression that he was abandoned. Whatever happened to Compassion.

Yeah boy ah was reading de thread and thought people woulda latch on to dat, but no one did till you brought it up.....

Ok, now I doh profess to know ah whole lot about how dese things work, but ah know he was realeased from his club, so ah take it dem eh help out with de bills from de injury, but den how ah man who reeeaallll represent in de WC have to suffer through ah injury like this??....De man literally spell it out....he eh get no support from nobody..... :( :(

If somebody could explain how dat coulda happen I would be glad cuz like ah say mih eh know in detail how these things work.....

Good luck Cornell.....looking forward to seeing you again....

lemme explain it  as simply as i can for you...his compensation $ for theraphy/rehab from de galaxy got caught up in de pay beckham a retarted amount of $ fund'...i think de galaxy decided that instead of pay for this player's rehab(and probably a increased salary for a new season due to fact that he now has  playing in a world cup to add on resume etc) they would just release him and not have those issues to address..THAT'S MY OPINION as far that situation goes...as for the TTFF it's no secret where his 'compensation $' for the injury he picked up while wearing the national colours at the World Cup is/went...it's the same thing Dwight Yorke said some years back regarding his decision about him choosing club over country at times..due to the fact that before friendlies etc the necessary people from the federation are calling you constantly..seeing how you're doing etc...then when you represent the country and happen to pick up a knock or injury..you can't hear from NOBODY...

Doesn't Osei Telesford play for Chicago?..How did he perform against Toronto?

Osei played a full 90 against the toronto reserves the game finished 2-2..he had a good/solid game..he played right back for 80 minutes and right midfield for the last 10..SOLID in both positions...very comfortable on the ball..he leaves chicago next week for T&T to start Gold Cup preparations

The game was a besss game as we does say in my opinion...Ronnie O' Brien was influencial for the time he was on the field (take into consideration he's not back to 100% fitness and played with his right leg in a knee brace) he's one of the things toronto has been lacking from game 1 onwards..a creative presence in the midfield...Edson Buddle game out to play and hustled and created problems up top for the time he was on the field(he set up the 1st 2 goals)....Maurice Adu was the player of the match for me..he's a workhorse..not only is he technically and skillfully gifted but his positioning on the field is  priceless..and last but not least his goal was the game's best...

Once the fan support(and the team's level of play) stays the way it is right now..it's gonna be VERY VERY hard for teams to come to toronto and get 3 points..cause that crowd is 1 of the most intimidating home crowds i've seen in a while

russell simmons is a hypocrite and does contradict himself nuff...say 1 thing on BET then say something else on anderson cooper 360....

my take is on this is...

*music is a form of expression....people life stories/experiences etc...avenue to vent so on and so forth
so if certain rappers having interaction(s) with whores...buying million dollar cars, houses, jewelry, planes etc...smoking weed....carry weapons and use them etc....and decide to sing about...what wrong with it?

*it have nuff sensorship on radio/tv...blocking out these derogatory words...so to actually here these types of lyrics repeatedly is either yuh went out and buy de album or somebody put a gun to yuh head and tell yuh to listen to it

*what is a female dog called? nuff R&B/Rap female artists refer to men as dogs...

*all these half naked girls in dem videos shaking dey bumper etc etc..did somebody drag dem outta dey house and say come wine up in this video or else? america does create dey own problems..is it rappers fault that tuition fees are crazy expensive in america and in order to pay school fees/bills some of these girls go that route and is it their fault yuh does make more money being a video girl than a regular day job?

*when ozzi ozborne...maralyn manson...etc sing bout murder...devil...kill...killl....doing shrooms,lsd etc..how come nobody ain't fighting that?

*people starving all over de world and we making noise over what a bunch of black millionaires say on dey records....and some of we is de same one's if ah gyal doh respond favourably to we cat calls or advances we quick to say'gone nah girl..you is badess/ho and cutting style'...

Football / Re: What is it about Trini's and football!!!
« on: April 21, 2007, 12:11:07 AM »
I ask this question because ah passionate bout meh country and meh ball. however, it seems like we as a people cant get together, as one united front, to dominate the sport we love. from the heads in charge of the game (the associations) to the attitude of the players, all have contributed negatively on the impact of the game as we trinis know it. i was thinking this until i read the express this morning and saw the article talking about the west indian cricketers not wanting to do any hard training. i remember so vividly many so called "big players" duckin hard training. maybe its a caribbean thing?? maybe not!!!

i started talking bout this cause as a trini, me and 2 other trinis decided to enter a "trini" based team into a league. the league has about 4 to 5 jamaican teams...no trini teams. now all these other teams winning with our people so we decided to join forces and represent we nation proudly. i even heard to my face ah jamaican organiser of one of the teams say that "trini ballers have de talent but no head. all yuh have to give dem is a piece ah bread and taxi fare and they good with that." Regardless to say me and de yardy almost end up in fist-to-cuffs. but after dealing with "we" people in trying to do something positive for us, i understand y he said what he said.

after me and the other organisers went knocking on doors to gain sponsorship (because what little trinidad business they have aint even entertaining your conversation bout sponsorship) and we get grounds with lights, uniforms and all that is needed, it have players who aint showing up for training and generally not contibuting to nothin. however, we have some africans and 2 jamaicans on the team...is the most dedication from dem fellas..and this thing aint even about dem!!! the sad thing is the same jamaican organiser who insulted us, have 3 or 4 trinis still playing for him. why we people like to settle for 2nd best. it affects our society and contributes to the nonsense with trinidad football.

For us to make it to the next world cup our attitudes need changing...from the influential to the man sweating small goal. we need to come together and unite. we always quick to bad talk jamaicans...but dem loyal to their cause and will fight tooth and nail for what they believe in. it dont have enough of our people who like that. so i challenge all formuites to start ah new trend towards our fight to get to the next world cup. Tallman and Flex have the forum to influence public opinion so leh we utilize it.

Appreciate the opportunity to vent fellas!!! :beermug: :beermug:

fordy....just to add to yor post.... right here in toronto...men can't even get a lil sweat organised...organisers/forumites like polished hoe booking field for $140 cdn a hour and four men showing up...after 12 + men post and say dey will be there...and is not one time it happen...would you believe is some chinese de four men board for a sweat and after de sweat done de chinee who organise de de sweat say' we're here every saturday at 11.00 you guys are always welcome'...and de same men who on de forum talking one setta football talk are no faaaaacking where to be seen....

it hurtful to see other ethnic groups organise such events to de point that their sweat too crowded...all age groups and gender...from sixty year old men to working mothers coming out....and we de supposed football guru's of de caribbean are no where to be found...stuuppppes

they fizzled out in de second half...dey lacking a creative/offensive midfielder...the abscence of Ronnie O Brien was very obvious in de middle last night.....also Jim Brennan didn't play in his natural midfield position which i think contributed to their lack of presence in de midfield.... Welsh, Nagamura and Eskandarian look like de eat some spoil curry..also from one of de interviews i seen before Toronto's first game he(Eskandarian) said something to de effect of ' It wasn't my choice to come here..but that's how the game goes sometimes..at the end of the day i'm glad to be part of history with this new club and be playing football ' and from his showing last night he didn't seem to care too much about what was going on...Edson Buddle is a good striker..i hope he stays away from de LCBO while in Toronto.

Cornell hurry up and heal up...this Toronto team could use a spark plug in de offensive dept.
