@Worm, Yeap it was live on many Haitian radios. Unfortunately, I have a slow internet connection.

In case you guys do not have anything better, here is a likely audio feed for Haiti vs. Trinidad: WWW.TOTALMIXRADIO.COM (Creole).

Jam, it's the same for all the other teams. Their first choice players are mostly unavailable.

"Do some research and take Jamaica out of that list. Jamaica's Reggae Boyz don't have a player crisis."

Good. So, nobody is going to use the B-team excuse this time, right?

Nov 2nd...dais a Tuesday...nice lemme plan meh schedule from now.

I reaching early to see what Haiti have to offer.

Apparently, they're doing well in Brazil. They recently won two games 2-0 and 1-0 against second division clubs in Brazil. However, I have no idea how strong they are as I haven't seen them in action since the trashing in Argentina.

They will probably bring a mix of local and foreign players, mostly guys from the USL/MLS.

Based on the players' selection for the camp in Brasil and what the Brazilian coach has said, I expect a more physical team.

I watched Guyana and SVG, they are definitely weaker than they were a few years ago. I do not expect them to cause much trouble.

"I will argue that we are only talking about T&T and Jamaica, what about Haiti & Cuba"

I have not heard much about the Cubans other than they are preparing in Germany, however Haiti will bring a new and young team to the GCQ. The team is currently under a Brazilian coach  and it is setting camp in Brazil in preparation for the Gold Cup. Many of the new faces are Franco-Haitians playing in France and only a couple youngsters from the former U-17 that went to the WC will join the team.

The clashes Haiti-Martinique, Haiti-Guadeloupe, Guadeloupe-Martinique will establish which Creole-speaking Caribbean team rules! Those games are going to be real fights and I cannot wait!

134
I do not know if the question has been already asked and/or debated. But, will there be players of Trini background who will participate in this WC? If so, list players and teams.

135
It's not an American import in Haiti.

It's a very old tradition that goes back thousands of years. It was brought to Haiti by slaves as Gedes' Day. The Catholic Church considered it as 'pagan' and changed it into what we know as 'La Toussaint'. But, the name betrayed its pagane origine.

In Haiti, we have both forms. La Toussaint is Catholic and Gedes' Day is Voodoo.

Haitian catholics go to church on La Toussaint, then head to the nearest cimetery to bring flowers, light candles, pray etc.

Voodoo adepts wear spirit costumes (just like in the US Halloween) and gede's colours (black and purple). Some head to the nearest cemetery as well because that's the domain of the Gede's King, Baron Samedi. Because Baron Samedi and the Gedes are very humoristic Loas (Voodoo god-like spirits), people who are possessed or faking it usually offer freak shows like eating hot pepper or rubbing it in their eyes, handling snakes etc.

Thus, Gedes'day and La Toussaint give a Halloween feel in Haiti.

Now, it's my understanding that Cuba is not sending a team to the WGC in the US. That leaves 3 teams for the three spots to the GC. So, why should there be one more qualifying round? Is it just for bragging rights, to crown a champion?

137
Welcome back All Saints!!!!!!!

True. I have never thought of it that way. 'La Toussaint' is how we say Halloween.

Thanks, guys.

Football / Re: Onyewu to play one season at AC Milan for free
« on: May 18, 2010, 03:01:33 PM »
Like somebody has put it, it's a "brave" move.

Many American stars who make the move to Europe struggle for play time. Adu, for example was always on the bench. Think about the consequences on Onyewu's career if he ends up on the bench at AC Milan, which is very possible!

At least, Adu can say they do not give me play time but they give me money!

However, he is a good player. The gamble may pay big at the end. Good luck, Onyewu.

Hm! A black kid with a lastname like Herold in Florida...sounds Haitian to me.

However, tough luck. Hope he takes good care of himself.

Escaped from certain death!

I was driving to Hotel Montana to drop a friend of mine who was visiting the country when suddenly I saw houses, office buildings, and churches coming down and for an instant I thought it was Armageddon for sure!

When I arrived at the hotel, it was pancaked. My girlfriend who was waiting for me there  was killed.

I lost my older brother, several nieces and cousins.

However, I have just brought my parents back to the states to receive health treatment.

Thanks, Sugar for asking. I truly appreciate it.
Deeks, TdotTrini, and Dinho, I have received your messages. Thank you, guys.

Football / Re: Concacaf Format for 2014 WCQ.
« on: December 20, 2009, 11:11:58 AM »
true. or at least a half. if ocenia could get that why not the caribbean?

The Caribbean does not deserve a spot because Caribbean teams have not qualified enough to deserve a spot andwen qualified have made no real impact

Umm pinky how can caribbean teams compete with nations like mexico, costa rica, guatemala, honduras etc usa big big countries.. Beating these teams are always going to be a real upset... Caribbean teams have small pools or players meaning less options for the team.

Here in CONCACAF WE HAVE 35 TEAMS 15 less than EUROPE THAT HAS 12 WC SPOTS?

I agree Caribbean needs their own freaking spot. It really hurts me to see some of the crap teams from asia and oceania make it, any team from concacaf will whip them anytime thats why fifa give us play offs with south america...

FIFA IS BIASED FOR EUROPE TEAMS..

ONE CARIBBEAN SPOT WONT KILL ANYBODY.. IF CRAPPY NORTH KOREA IS THERE, A CARIBBEAN SIDE SHOULD BE SO ALSO.

THATS REALLY SCREWED UP THE CARIBBEAN HAVE NO TEAMS TO CHEER FOR AND   MEXICO, HONDURAS(WHO NEEDED A FAVOR FROM EL SALVADOR TO QUALIFY) AND USA . IMAGINE THAT THEY MADE IT.

its freaking obvious that if more teams from a region compete they have better chance of one of them to win the damm thign.

FIFA THIS IS NOT A WORLD CUP.. THIS IS EUROPE VS SOUTH AMERICA AND AFRICA WITH SHIT ASIAN TEAMS TO MAKE UP THE NUMBERS.. TELL ME AH WRONG PLZ

You wrong on so many levels i don't know where to start.

That FIFA is biased towards Europe is no news to anyone.

But that "crappy" North Korean team made it to the world cup in front of a behemoth of a country called China, another Asian powerhouse named Saudi Arabia, and a decent Asian side with pdigree called Iran.

The same way a "crappy" Trinidad and Tobago side made it to the World Cup "at the expense" of Nigeia/Cameroon/Egypt/Denmark/Uruguay etc

Well, China is certainly not a behemoth in term of football power for the top caribbean teams. In fact, North Korea is 'stronger' than China and very few people truely expected China to make it even chinese nationals..

Having said that, I believe a separate 1/2 spot for CFU will not be a good move for the region, specially for T&T, Jamaica, Cuba, and Haiti as those countries have proved that they can bang with the other concacaf teams when they are well-prepared.

We love to call ourselves latin, british and all sort of craps but in fact we are just one separate group regardless which caribbean rock we call homeland. In fact, we do have some positive characteristics. However, our repetitive failures at Concacaf level is probably due to our well-known complacent tendency and lack of ambitions which some can attribute to what they would call a complex of inferiority or simply put, a slave mentality.

Ain't no @#$#@% surprise ... they worked for that, and Haiti did shit in relinquishing the attack in favour of half-ass defending.

Though both Jamaica and El Salvador finished with identical records, El Salvador was eliminated having lost to Jamaica. The Reggae Boyz will now have to wait for the results the results of the final Group B and C matches tomorrow and Saturday to determine whether they advance.

Jamaica's faith is in the hands of Haiti and Panama. Jamaica will advance if any one of the two below scenarios play out:

1) Panama fail to beat Nicaragua

OR

2) USA beat haiti by 3 clear goals

The most likely of the two scenarios would be a USA 3-0 win over the USA.

Well, what about a victory of Grenada over Honduras? If USA fails to beat Haiti 3-0, But Grenada beat Honduras , Jamaica will advance at the expense of Honduras.

RF, it's not really our fault if you're no longer in control of your own fate, you know?

Football / Re: What Brand of football do we play?
« on: April 20, 2009, 07:03:05 PM »
I think we may have to coin some words like sub-brand and ghetto-brand for this one if the word brand is a must :)

TnT falls into the central american brand of football which is known for unlimited short passess and skillful dribbles. It's not unusual to see a trini midfielder dribbles several guys in the midfield and when he notices there is noboby left to dribble, he just passes the ball laterally to another midfielder or even a defender like to say, "I'm done.Your turn, sir"!

However, the caribbean adds different flavors to that brand which we may call ghetto-brands. Teams like TnT, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Martinique play the same ghetto-brand while Jamaica, St-Vincent, Barbados form a different group within that same central american brand.

Panama trashed Haiti 4-0 in a friendly game tonight in Panama.

Both teams are preparing for the next Gold Cup.

(No excuses)

What's going on with Haiti?  Majority of your top players were missing?

Nope, we even had Jean-Philippe Peguero.

It was a fairly 'strong' Haitian team with players from Ecuador, Argentina, Holland, USA, and France.

Fire, Haiti/Jamaique is still on.
