The man name Camps and had to wait in line for a ticket? He uncle Oliver didn't hook him up? Or is it that Jack tell him to blank the man or calling Stern a poacher.
Typical Trini mentality - "pull strings to get places... then after you pull the strings, I will criticize you for it." Catch 22.

Even if I had the Oliver strings to pull, I wasn't about to touch them.

So yuh get blank then...
Typical Trini mentality - that is called piccong. If yuh cyah take it, you in the wrong forum.
Ask Trini Infinite  ;)

I think that fall under the psycology of winning.
Remember, this is a man went into the Champions League final hearing talk about how much lick they will get, and was in the lockerroom halftime down 0-3.

Quite frankly, if you go into any match thinking you going to lose, then you already starting behind. They are the seeded team, playing against a side that barely qualify, a side they does beat on the regular, and a wildcard from South America, but not a powerhouse by any means.

Of course, these days is only in boxing you could say in public before a match that you go beat down the next man/team.

Under all the old talk. Everybody hoping we do well. in fact, I done bet a case of beers that T&T beating England (4-0!) but deep down inside... yeah, it go soak in...

Football / Boca vs Velez
« on: April 23, 2006, 03:20:29 PM »
I love the Argentinian Clausura. Real wildness.
But Velez and Boca tied. 88th minute, Boca get a free kick. Smash the kick into the wall and then the ref see the linesman with he flag up.
Give 2 players yellows for whatever reason and then have boca retake the kick.  good shot, mad scramble, ball cross the line and then cleared. Velez crowd gone loco. Game suspended in the 88th minute.

Boce win 3-2.

Man in the stands opening dustbin and ting to pelt bottle, real wildness. I feel it for Velez though. Boce essentially get a do-over on the free kick. And the infraction wasn't no big fight to say you had to retake the kick, but say what, that is how it does go.

Exepct to see that one on espn as an example of how them soccer fans like to riot.

You are correct about the action Shaka seeing. Though he come out stupid for a ball that Hasselbaink foul him on. It had a kind of "Kelvin Jack in Bahrain" feel to it. But no goal so is all good.

Middlesborough have the better play, but they cyah finish for nutten. I suppose that is the difference between Manchester and Middlesborough - quality finishing.

This game coming like that Hamburg - Leverkusen game yesterday..

Yeah, dey tief him. all Glen had to do was let Donovan perfect passes bounce off him into the net.
bitter...are you SERIOUS??..'let Donovan perfect passes bounce off him into the net'  :o

1st goal....long throw for LA...donovan challenges for de ball, gets enough on it to direct in glen's path/direction..glen one time it.
2nd goal...donovan intercepts and wins de ball off chivas player, brings it up de field where he is surrounded by three chivas players..glen switches his run from right to left, opening space..donovan floats a ball across de penalty area..glen connects and puts it bottom right corner one time.were you watching de same game i was??? ???

#8..President Of De Glen For Goals Committee

I see you cyah connect with sarcasm as well as Glen connect with the ball for that second goal...

I doh like no USA players and yes, is hate. But i spend nuff time in the Oval/Stadium getting licks to build a healthy hatred. And it have no giving jack he jacket. USA could win the world cup and they would still be a shit side to me. Just like Fatima is a shit squad of rare and odious shittiness.

That being said, the commentary thing is somethign I've noticed more and more over the past few years. A guy like Martin Tyler will call whatever he see on the field, end of story. And plenty of us grow up seeing that and expecting that.  But we also grow up seeing NBA coverage where everytime magic or Jordon make a layup Marv (bite them in the..) acting like is the greatest shot of all time.

Now you seeing it on FSW and GolTV and ABC/ESPN. The fool who does colour commentary on La Liga. He does be having orgasms every time Ronaldino touch the ball. He used to sweat Zidane, but now he have a new love. Is the fact that it out of context and that other men on the field doing similar things, and that Martin Tyler would never get on so that make it that much more grating.

And when you do see something truly great, they done spend so much time shouting that it gets lost in the rush. Is best they put Sedley Joseph on.

9288
Is the normal story.
Every World cup or Olympics, it does have news stories saying how the host country/city behind schedule in xyz... Look how much talk Greece get and they had all they stuff in order. Look out for China  stories for the next olympics. And as for the backup grid and ting- pure bs. Sepp go be lucky if he limo have a spare tire.

« on: April 15, 2006, 08:19:40 AM »
This tune is rank Sh@#  But then again, most of them are.
The best Football song is Fighter by Maximus. Before that was Road to Italy, the only thing that edge out Fighter is that it will work for every team in every competition. Whereas, Road to Italy, well, is only when the world cup playing in a spot ending with "eee" that it could work.

still though, a good measure of the staying power of Ayres and Superblue masterpiece, is that on the field in Bahrain men was singing "On the Road we going germany"

i know I will be singing We Reach when the plane land, after that, it really doh have many choices beyond the old staples.

Yorkie in the top 10

My Top 5

Henry
Klinsmann
Giggs
Zola
Hyypia

no Cantona in the top 5, even though he was voted overseas player of the decade?

Cantona was never that great to me. He was definitely better than his peers at a time when English football realized they were technically behind the curve compared to its European counterparts. But since then ther have been better players. He also benefitted from the unbelievable ManU hype /marketing machine of the 90s that made ManU the richest most famous club in the world even when htey couldn't win crap. Cantona had timing on his side...he played football like a continental European and had better technical ability than most of his counterparts at the time..so he is remembered in this iconic way..but since then, better, but less celebrated players have invaded the Premiership. The Premiership is miles tougher now than it was in Cantona's day......

Hyppia has to go down as one of the greatest defenders in the Premiership..all time. The man is pure class week in week out for ages now. When people talk best footballers they always duck the defenders..so I gave one vote to a position I knew would have gotten overlooked. I can think of dozens of top class foreign players in the Premiership and not really be able to separate them...to be honest my top 5 done chaneg 100 times as I read every body else answers  ;D But Hyppia is definitely a class act.

How could I leave out MAKALELE  ???

If you going to go with the argument that Cantona was only good b/c the people in his era weren't as good as now, then you could apply that to pretty much every footballing great. I mean, All joke aside, you feel men like Beckenbaur and Cryuff would get the time today that they they had back in the day to make plays? If you really want to talk about the history of the league (div 1), then George Best win hands down. But if he show up today at 20 and try them beats he will get kick down. lighter ball or not...

I hate Manchester Utd. but I love Cantona. The man was head and shoulders above the rest. In fact, the drop kick he buss in the stands alone should guarantee his spot at the top of the list.

What about Andy Cole?
