Who will be the next dwight and latapy of T &T

If none of those youths are playnig senior club football or in the U-23 picture then none of them will be Dwight or Latas. At age 16 them men was that good, phenoms that could ball with big men.

The fact is that we don't need to find one Dwight or one Latapy but need to develop a quality crop of players. In that respect we are not doing too bad at present but we are getting good players more by luck than by design.

Club academies is probably th ebest solution as the other alternative, a national academy, just can't/won't be funded.

It sounds like everyone is dancing around the issue like they fraid to come out and say that it appears that Jabloteh is a better managed outfit than the national team.

Talk about Speed, tactical awareness, excellent possession, movement off the ball, fitness and most of all skills and aggression, with a real fighting spirit.

Please TTFF/Bertie......the slow fwds we have ent cutting it. Trap and screen from Yorke and stern and the boom kick from the inefficient wingbacks ent cutting it.

I am assuming that Pierre didn't play. He is clinical but he is hardly a speedster.

Who is coaching  Jabloteh now?

« on: March 15, 2005, 03:15:25 PM »
Well he just score vs Gils 1-1.

Yeah just I saw that. Can't keep a good man down.

Too bad Stern isn't scoring as he used to either ;)

4567

Take note Rahim, Scotland, Samuel, Sam, Boucaud and DWIGHT!  You not getting any better sitting on the bench.  Time to move on.

Are there teams that want these guys. Dwight could (and should) drop down division for sure but have the others really had any option to move clubs.

Anyway this is good news for Jones. He hasn't been scoring for Stoke as he was at Wednesday but the fact that they extended his loan is a good sign that he is performing at Championship level.

« on: March 14, 2005, 04:53:26 PM »

They supposed to be in top match fitness if they training right through up till the game if they have good intensity in training.

I can't see them getting match fitness unless they are playing top level, high intensity games, training is unlikely to do it.

ive been asking this question for a while now. one game is not enough. the full sqaud hafta be together for a game or 2. ttff better announce something soon.

We have to hope that something is being worked out but I don't how how likely it will be that we will have the full squad together for two practice games. To be fair the TTFF has done a decent job of finding games this time around although the quality of opposition hasn't been great. This Honduras game should be a very good test, but only if they learn things. It seems that we are playing practice games and after every game saying that "it was just a practice" and not addressing flaws.

this is the reson he does not want to run for us savannah

Even though he may not make a US team in life, Clement prefers to represent the US rather than deal with the headache of Trinidad."

That was my fear.

What doesn't kill you should make you stronger and these disappointments need to make the athletics association wan to put their house in order. Instead they will blame Clement and say that he is unpatriotic and nothing will change.
Reading Ato's statement it didn't sound like he had any sour grapes and he is somebody who should.

Everybody have to look out for themselves so I cannot speak ill of Clement or judge the man.

4570
Our track and field association  should have gone all out to get kerron clement to represent trinidad and tobago .the minister of sport that wultless bitch should gone all out himself to.Well a next one lost

The man said no, end of story. The national association can do nothing after that. What they have to question is why he chose the States. Apart from the obvious opportunities of representing the US, the association has to wonder if he decided not to go local because of any perceived mismanagement or poor organization. That is what they have to work on so that future talents do not go the same route.

Looks like it may very well be a second string squad as they flying to the states on the 24th. That is de day before Champions League final and Chelsea and Liverpool may yet be in de finals.

I would be surprised if England travels with a 2nd string team. Most likely they will travel with a full squad (barring injuries and commitments) and let the senior members play limited minutes.

Either way I will try to be there once the price not too ridiculous.

For my money Barca should only blame themselves.

I agree totally. The first time I watched the game I came away feeling that Chelsea was lucky. It looked like carvalho did foul th ekeeper on terry's goal. After watching it again I admit Chelsea deserved their win only because Barca was very poor at the back and Cech was excellent.

Even so Eto'o had enough chances to put Chelsea out. I admire Barca going for it even when they were leading on away goals but their defending just wasn't up to it and I couldn't understand why they were defending so high up the pitch.

Jahyouth -

Teams and players are two different things. An all caribbean selection could very well have more Trinis than Jamaicans in spite of the results of the National teams. All star selections are by nature biased. Who are the jamaican players you would choose to replace Shaka, Dog, Glenn and Jones?

For every name you call Sam could very easily make a case for the Trinis that he chose.

The fact is that we have underachieved as a team but we still have Shaka the best Caribbean keeper by a good bit, Glen - arguable the best Caribbean striker in MLS, Andrews - The Caribbean defender playing at the biggest club.

5 Trinis and 3 Jamaicans is no great injustice, that is just how the man choose to pick the team. When yuh check 4-4-2 and see some of the all-star teams the greats does pick you have to scratch yuh head and wonder if they ever play football.

Two people are not supposed to have the same all-star selection that is why yuh normally decide these things by committee.

edited to add: I see that Palos beat me to a reply

I came across this while I searching for the Warriors board. It is very impressive. I assume that it is the work of Flex and Tallman and that we will get links to it soon.

These is a great archive especially for the media who have to cover our games and for the expats who haven't seen most of the new guys live.
Some Examples of warriors in action below:

Is it just or are plenty people writing in to the papers to voice their interest and concern about the football? Or is it that the press have anagenda and are printing everything they receive?

« on: March 09, 2005, 11:24:47 PM »

If he get fire he cyah say is because he didn't have no time or he had no support.

According to him, the one thing that he wants he cannot get, quality players.

The excuse will be that he didn't get enough time and that everybody was putting him under unfair pressure (because he from Tobago). Then we will hear how ungrateful we are because he is our most successful coach and that he do so much for T&T football.

Mark my words.

Also looks like the USA T&T game scheduled for Hartford Connecticut.  Hopefully all the New York and New England based can make it there and give we some support.

This is actually the closest Stadium to me. Personally I couldn't ask for anything better. It is also closer to New York than Foxboro so there should be really good support for the team.

Football / Re: It is a myth that we do not have talented players
« on: March 09, 2005, 05:41:08 PM »
Coaching is a bigger deficiency than player talent.

We just don't have the systems in place to make the coaches we need to develop better players. It is sad because you can develop coaches through competition but the general level is just not high so there is nothing forcing us to develop better local coaches. Hopefully this will change with the PFL but I am not sure. You look at Jabloteh and Connection and their successful coaches were Stuart-Charles and Hill. Hopefully more locals will get a chance or prove that they are worthy of a chance.

Passing and running are the hallmarks of effective football and these are two things that we are woeful at. It is not natural for players to understand that when you make a run you don't have to receive a pass for it to be a successful run. The run creates space for the player with the ball and gives him options. Understanding teamwork is very key and the psychological part of coaching is necessary for this and I just feel that plenty of our coaches don’t get the opportunity to learn this.

This is something that has to be drilled into most players. It is not just us though. I play with some Africans and for nothing could you convince them men to run full out without the ball. They only waiting to see where the ball going and is real hand on waist, complaining business. South Americans I have met have a better appreciation of running off the ball.

4583
I miss that one. Will check for a rerun next week in the early morning slot.

Nah, nobody is ah ass like Ferguson... Souness come close. Mourinho jus real like heself. thais all

That is old talk. Ferguson has been winning things for 25 years. Over that time he has done plenty things to upset people. Mourinho has been in the spotlight for what? four years? Give hime time, let hime win more and then see who is the bigger ass.

Mourinho is a great manager, but he is much more of an arrogant prick than Ferguson.
