Football / Re: Loaning of Players

Ironman, like you from the Couva area. If so, what part?

W Connection did loan some of their youth players to Couva Rotiv Players last season. A lot of Couva Rotiv players were also members of the W Connection youth programme. Couva Rotiv Players manager/coach Mr. Baird was also a member of the W Connection technical staff and was in charge of the under20 and under 17 teams at a time..............I think that Couva Rotiv Players seems also to be the grooming team for Connection. But I must say that there is a lot of talent on that Couva Rotiv Players team and they and Connection are doing a lot for the youths in the Couva area. A lot of talented ballers came from Couva, All the Benjamins who went Benedicts but originally from Gasparillo, Atiba McKinght, Silvio Spann, Nigel Daniel, John-Michael Williams. So Iam just pleased that Mr. Baird is helping to nurture that talent in the area and there is also a hockey post night league in the Housing area where a lot of good players are picked up also.

Wasn't Sherwood the white boy who use to play for pres back in the day?

But glad to see that the fella interested, it doh matter if he never reach our island yet. And from his words, d fella sound very enthusiastic, and to boot the man young, i hope if he doesnt make the cut the dont cast him away. Plenty of dem fellas young and if dey aint make d cut, dey jus feel neglected, We have to keep them in d mix. Keep dem around d U23 team. Once we keep these men in the national fraternity, trust me, the future is ours. We shouldnt wait 3 months b4 an olympic tournament to start pulling ah team together...dem men suppose to be playing friendlies whenever dey get d chance but funding i know is a problem but at least we cud make a start.

Abu Bakr Jr. is aight, he good at d SSFL level but at d U20 qualifiers in USA vs USA his speed or lack thereof was detrimental to our team...dis aint u14 when u cud have d luxury of slow defenders. Dey said d US U20 coach called over Adu and was point to Abu Bakr Jr. as if saying take it to him and dey say Adu was running pass him like a full bus......Ah tink we could make ah next team from fellas playing college ball in D US. Although they may not be able to come upon request because that could jeapordise their scholarship but these players should not be forgottenbcuz there is alot of talented ballers playing NCAA and NAIA football....Past stars of SSFL like Julius James, Steve Sealy,Osei Telesford,Ateba McKnight,Anthony Noriega,Dean Logan,Sheron Manswell, Kyle Cupid,Kevin Norman, Jeremy Del Pino, Keiron Benito....Remember Scott Sealy got called while at university so these players should be given an incentive as plenty of dem just overs football when they graduate.

Football / Re: Intercol Finals!!

One of meh most memorable intercol finals is in 1997 when St. Anthony's take on St. Benedicts in d Oval and Tommy Joseph talkin real shit in d stands. Dat St. Anthony's team was a bomb (Carlos Edwards and Sean Cooper striking, Marcus Rodriguez on d wing, Ethan Stewart as a stopper) but Benedicts with (Nicholas Benjamin, Silvio Spann (who was in form 4), Lyndon Diaz, Moreba Baker, Jordan) were equally as talented.

Benedict's were without their key marksman Kester "Blacks" Cornwall but dat was a really exciting game which ended 2-1 in Anthony's favour..Carlos Edwards and ah cyah remember who score for d Tigers and Dia Hunte came on as a sub and scored a penalty for  Benedicts.
