I'm asking this question, because I live in florida and I know the answer men go give meh already,is because the spanish run things, well that's a lame excuse from the people I've spoken to so far.

Here meh out, look at the diversity in south florida alone, yuh have jamaicans, trinis, haitians, and a host of different english speaking caribbean nations.I could always bet anytime men in florida invite me to play in ah league or tournament is ah spanish that run things,ah don't no for much of the other states, but it becomes a task sometimes to be treated on equal footing when dealing with those latin folks.

I'm a little surprise doh, after living here for so many years, that we're not involved more on a controling administrative level as oppose to participating with the registering of a team,
which we seem only interested in doing.

What's your take on this, could someone enlighten me as to why!

Jokes / Monkey Eating Lion.
« on: March 24, 2006, 06:45:02 PM »
"A hungry monkey was looking for some food one day
and stumbled into cave where he came across a pile
of lion's bones......

The monkey stood there for a while
staring at the bones when he heard some footsteps
behind him.....as he glanced over his shoulder he saw
a big lion walking towards him...drooling in eager
anticipation of fine monkey cuisine...the monkey
started to panic-"what ah go do??? oh gawd...ah
dead...ah have to think fast...oh yeah ah know what
ah will do!"....then as soon as the lion reached close to
the monkey, the monkey streched and rubbed his belly
-"Ah Boy dat Lion went down real good boy"so the
Lion paused on hearing this...looked at the lion bones
laying on the floor and ran out of the cave as fast as
he could...as he left the cave another monkey who
was maccoing de whole ordeal started to laugh-"Nah
Boy...you so chupid you fall for dat?...boy leh mih
carry to eat some monkey!"...so they both ventured
back into the cave...the next monkey looked over his
shoulder again to see the lion returning...he started to
panic-"what ah go do now...ah dead for sure..have
to think fast!...as they reached close to him he let out
one loud steups-"Boy where de hell de monkey ah
send to bring de next lion boy!""

It's been on my mind for a while now, reason is I personally know quite a few local guys I play with who are over 40 and there conditioning is well over average, even so they might be fitter than guys half there age,but the question is how much of a factor does age play a part in being selected on a team even though you've shown more talent more skill more control and of course more experience, but still warm the bench.

Football / Any ah allyuh ever hear bout ah cic boy name zane o'brien?
« on: March 21, 2006, 08:39:08 AM »
The reason ah bring this up is ah playing in a league at mctyre park off sw 56ave in hallandale beach,we bring ah side to take on them spanish sides,so far we start off kinda rockie losing the first game 1-0,but it was because of ah racist spanish ref and linesman, but anyway we have ah boy playing with we name zane, that boy sick yes,he should ah get ah try-out with them warriors, plays midfield touches sweet, likes to shoot from outside, great passing ability, deaf skills, great ball control,if any ah allyuh south florida base guys want to see him in action we next game is 12noon on saturday march 25th.

Meh only problem with him is he holds on to the ball to long, but otherwise nice to watch.

Football / Taking on a defender............
« on: March 19, 2006, 08:31:52 PM »
I was just thinking one on one with maybe up against ah rio ferdinand type defender, who on our warriors team could blow pass him with speed and dribbling skill. Now remember the player not running down the flank with speed to cross the ball over, they simply are taking it to the defense.

I'm just curious to know how we are measuring up towards the big dance in germany, against there build up to france 1998.I'm sure we will have a better competition with much better results than they did.

This has been on my mind for a long time now,the best defense is a great offense. That's what I was thougt, but looking at the game yesterday, lets measure up stern, jones, glenn, sealy, etc, against the likes of saha from france, van niselroy from holland, ronaldo from brazil, mesi from argentina, who among our core is at that level.

Here's my problem if colin samuel is gonna supply them balls, like the way he did against Iceland consistently then we can't afford not to capitalize on chances, like how stern missed a couple.

With that said I'm hoping we find a solution to fix that open area with a forward who can complement stern, that has speed, deaf skill, ball control, good striking ability, this might be the answer defensively if we can't find any additional strenght in the back.

Your Response please.

I'm asking this question simply because at times no matter how well coached a team is they could lose the game,as well as playing the worse game of there lives and pull-out a miracle winning goal at the end.As I remember some years ago czech republic vs greece in the european cup, czechs were the favorites coming into the game, people said 4-0 czechs and they pounded greece for most of the game, but at the end greece with a header from the only corner in the first half, won the game for them.

1934 Italy 2-1 Czechoslovakia Italy
1938 Italy 4-2 Hungary France
1950 Uruguay 2-1 Brazil Brazil
1954 Germany 3-2 Hungary Switzerland
1958 Brazil 5-2 Sweden Sweden
1962 Brazil 3-1 Czechoslovakia Chile
1966 England 4-2 Germany England

1990 Germany 1-0 Argentine Italy
1994 Brazil 3-2 Italy USA
1998 France 3-0 Brazil France
2002 Brazil 2-0 Germany Korea/Japan

Notice That germany & brazil have combined 14 world cup finals out of 17, what do you think is the reason for that.I think that they both have a similar style of play with one exception brazils players individually are more skillfull.

The reason I say they have similar styles, look at the methodical build-up starting from the defense all the way up to the strikers.

Football / Do the Americans Have our Number or not?
« on: February 07, 2006, 10:40:57 AM »
I was talking with someone who has close ties to the warriors and he said the reason why the u.s.a. will always beat us in football/soccer is because they know what it is to fight for what you believe in,using the analogy: that if a soccer ball was half over the line and there was no way they could stop it from going for a throw-in for the other team, they would still go after it.Therefore making the claim that we're passive by nature and not agressive enough,we continued to talk and I said maybe it has to start from this new generation coming up,he agreed and punctuated with saying there're so many distractions one has to deal with as a young man growing up in trinidad that he hopes with advent of coaching schools and other Institutions that are designed to foster and grow as well as groom young talent that this maybe a thing of the past within the next 5 to 10 years.

What's your Feelings on this............

I remember the eddie hart league ah fella by the name of vaughn samuel, score one from the half, a scorcher.

107
I remeber back in the late 70's early 80's john d had the cumberbatch brothers who also played league ball for peterborough, listen when them men taking corners bredz, goalkeepers use to be sweating bullets because yuh know they sure to score or keeper had to pull off ah magnificient save.

Censors or Not, Soccer Still Sucks

Wipe out the messenger when you can't compete or don't agree with the message, that's the manly way, or should i say the soccer way.
The message will never die - soccer sucks, always has, always will. It is NOT a sport, it is a sissy game. Real men play American Football, where it takes brains, coordination, speed, strength, endurance and working as a team.
No soccer player living or dead could ever have made it onto an NFL team (except the kicker) whereas any number of NFL players could easily have dominated in any soccer league anywhere.
So to all you snitches and bitches who cry to mommy, you may kiss my muscular caucasian ass.

How to Un-Suck Soccer
by: honor9112001 (48/M/los angeles ca)
Msg: 1 of 301

OK, to be fair about my attacks on the game, i have watched about 30-40 matches over the past month.
Soccer COULD be a decent and much more popular game, certainly a great deal more watchable, if there were 2 rule changes.
First, no more offsides. It's a stupid rule, particularly when the defenders have all of the advantages as it is. It would bring a whole new realm of offense to the game, breakaways, odd-man rushes and spread the field out more to create more shots on goal. Games would be more interesting, and scores would be more like 5-4, 7-6, hell maybe even 10-9.
Second new rule, you can only pass the ball backwards (toward your own goal) once, do it twice and it's a turnover from the spot of the second kick. This would put more pressure on the defenders to ADVANCE THE DAMNED BALL instead of the incredibly boring kickbacks to the goalie, who then pick it up, pose for the camera, pick their nose then boot it 70 yards for another turnover.
Of course you purists are going to argue and bitch about the tradition of the game, blah blah blah, but you must admit, the soccer game i describe would be a hell of a lot more interesting to watch.

This was a couple years ago but it has resurfaced since and quite frankly these mf's are getting on my last nerve, yuh no many of we caribbean people live in the u.s.a and to some extent have adopted there lousy game of so called football which actually is using your hands and should be called hand ball.

SFUYSA RULE CHANGES & Warning

At the December SFUYSA League meeting, two rule changes were adopted.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:
Mercy Rule: "After the first half has been completed, or at any point in time in the second half where the goal differential meets or exceeds eight goals, the game is considered complete and the match shall be ended."

EFFECTIVE 12/25/2005 and beyond:
Restriction on Punts and Free Kicks in Small-sided Games: In all small sided games U9 through U12; an indirect free kick from the center mark will be awarded to the opponent when a goal keeper punts, or a player kicks a free kick from one penalty area to the other penalty area without the ball being played first by another player.

Reasoning: to encourage more passing and touches on the ball for the small sided games.  Kicks may be played to the alleys between the sidelines and the penalty area, but this restriction is aimed at forcing teams to play the ball out of the back and encourage the development of skills in bringing the ball forward.

FIELD MARSHAL WARNING:
It is required that a field marshal be present and identified on the game rosters for ALL SFUYSA games.  Failure to provide a Field Marshal will result in fines to the home team.  All clubs have had ample time and warning up until now.  Any further failure to provide AND identify the field marshal will result in fines.

I had posted something similar a few weeks ago about the water breaks and players that were subed in a game could come back on at any point, here's some additions.I tell you boy I don't know if I'll be alive to see it,but all this looks awfully suspicious to me,maybe the makings of a era in soccer push by the one and only super power U.S.A.,what's your response on this.

Invented! Chicken Soccer Bowling

ChickenBowling10
Originally uploaded by Avant Game. Chicken soccer bowling is just like regular bowling, only it's played in a hallway, with a goalie, you bowl both balls at once, and there is a stuffed chicken involved.

How to play Chicken Soccer Bowling:
1. Find hallway.
2. Obtain children's plastic bowling set.
3. Recruit "goalie."
4. Give goalie stuffed chicken to hold between his or her knees.
5. Bowler hurls 2 plastic bowling balls at the pins, consecutively or simultaneously. Bouncing off walls allowed, but no throwing!
6. Goalie stands behind pins and attempts to block balls from knocking pins over.
7. Goalie must not drop stuffed chicken from between legs.

What crazy shit will these yanks come with next.....

Football / U.S.A. hoping to get there Christmas present in june 2006...
« on: December 26, 2005, 10:42:13 AM »
WC: USA Christmas wishes six months early

For most hardcore soccer fans in the United States, they're hoping for one thing and one thing only and they're thinking about putting that present on layaway for about six months

What every diehard USA fan wants is the United States to come out of Group E at the World Cup and then continue through at least the semifinals. It's fair to imagine that a good number of those fans are based in the real world and would be more than satisfied with that kind of performance. Given all the factors that have been proven over and over again in consistently reaching the latter stages of the World Cup, a semifinal visit following the quarterfinal run in 2002 would give the U.S. an enormous boost in world credibility.

Please don't misunderstand ... nothing could possibly make American fans more happy than winning the trophy, but with only seven different countries having accomplished the feat so far, it's simple to see how difficult it truly is.

A great deal of doom and gloom has circulated the Internet boards about the impossibility facing the U.S. team. In a recent Fox Sports World Report Topic of the Week, roughly 70% of the viewers who responded mirrored this sentiment.

The question is why?

There is always a surprise team that exceeds all expectations.

The South Koreans did it in 2002, trumping the quality performance of the U.S. The hosts' performances were widely questioned due to the surrounding controversies from their Round of 16 match against Italy and their quarterfinal victory over Spain, but no one can question their fantastic displays during the group stage and the Koreans were not outclassed by the Germans in the semifinal.

In 1998, the small nation of Croatia successfully navigated its way through a group stage with Argentina, Japan and Jamaica, then reached the quarterfinals and dismantled Germany 3-0 before bowing out against the eventual champions France in the semifinals.

It was Sweden who produced the stir at USA 94 by coming out of a tough group with Brazil, Russia and Cameroon, then cruising all the way into the semifinals where they were knocked out by Brazil.

So why can't the U.S. be Germany's big surprise?

U.S. players Oguchi Onyewu, Landon Donovan and Kasey Keller will have to be at their very best to beat the Czechs. (Ronald Martinez/Staff / Getty Images)

The United States' problem used to be finding a skilled player for a position. Now, Bruce Arena is forced to experiment with a left-sided midfielder at left back to try and get his best players all on the field at the same time.

In other words, there's a depth on the U.S. squad that no American coach has ever had at his disposal.

Goalkeeper Kasey Keller is in top form.

The quality of defenders is deep with solid, experienced professionals such as Cory Gibbs, Oguchi Onyewu, Steve Cherundolo and Carlos Bocanegra, backed up by consistent performers Eddie Pope and Gregg Berhalter.

In the midfield, Claudio Reyna and Landon Donovan are complimented by dangerous wingers in DaMarcus Beasley, Bobby Convey and Eddie Lewis, and up top, Brian McBride is a consistent scorer who will be aided by young up-and-comer Eddie Johnson.

Are there holes? Of course there are holes — unless you're Brazil, there are going to be holes.

But was every Croatian on the field who played their best in 1998 a household name and a first-teamer for Real Madrid? Aljosa Asanovic started for the Croats against Germany - hardly considered one of the world's best at the time.

The USA will prove a difficult opponent for the Czechs, Italians and Ghanaians. The most important result of all with be getting off to a good start with points against the Czech Republic.

Few gave the Americans a chance against Portugal in the opening game of 2002, but they came through with the win. The U.S. will have to be even better to beat the Czechs as they will not be taking the CONCACAF champions lightly, but it most certainly can be done. The Czechs qualified in their UEFA World Cup qualifying group by destroying the minnows — the matches of greatest relevance, against Holland and Romania, they won one and lost three.

Put that in your stocking.

The reason I'm asking is I remember Hristo Stoichkov use to smoke a cigarette before and after ah game for bulgaria and it never affected his game. There was also a boxer by the name of ricardo mayorga who use to do the same, drinking and smoking before ah fight an winning,so does it all depend on the individual or are they the minority and some people could just handle it better than others.
