I have been in this country since 1995, and I have seen Football come a long way. The negative attitude towards football here in the US seems to mostly come for the older folks. But, when I look at the youths in the system and the soccer moms and dads, you can see a wave of change in that respect. It is more prevalent in the youths today I have to say. When you look around, you can see lots of football (soccer) fields and they filled with soccer camps. Look at the under 18 and the under 20 teams. They can compete with any European or South American teams today. I don't think that America has anything to worry about in its football future. The bottom line is they have the facilities, the money and a vast number of youth interested in the games. If anything, the other sports have to worry. Football is very contagious. What I am worried about is the state of football in Trinidad it burn me to see the US cutting me heart. All them youth these days looking to steal and shoot people. That is sickening. Gone are the days when de stands were filled to capacity with football fans. The only hope for the youths and interest in the game is for the government to inject some real finance into the sports and the parents taking initiative and have there kids involved in sports from early, even attending there games. That will do some real good. The last time Trinidad could really compete against the US, was in 1989 world cup qualifiers. It break my heart to see how them fellas playing now. No passion and a lack of the basic skills (passing and trapping). But anyway, I in Hartford. Ah wearing red and ah holding my head up high no matter the outcome.
