Why do you think it's better to go with 4-5-1 instead of 4-4-2?

Because first and foremost we're in the results business.

Our defence is the weakest aspect of our game

We're not that powerful an offense where we can outscore our opponents consistently enough to overcome and make up for defensive mistakes

Therefore, in order to minimize our defensive frailties, we shore up the midfield to assist our defence trusting in the fact that we have enough firepower and experience to score and not lose the game.

How come nobody didn't question Leo when he was playing the same 5 man midfield and one striker ? ...I'll tell you why because he achieved results ...I doh know why peeps trying to outcoach Maturana from day 1 so ...like he eh getting results ?
Some folks go still criticise Maturana if we make it to South africa again but not one ah dem ever put a better  alternative.

No one questioned Leo because :-

1) The timing in which he came.

2) He showed almost immediately that he knew what he was about. Almost immediately you could have seen a better organized team on the field.

3) Like I said in my prior post, he got the team discipline enough to work the 3 players in the center of the park effectively.

but we look a deadlier team than with beenhakker, we playing a short passing brand of football that is working well, so until we see our results in the hex, everyone should take it and cool it

fenwick was crying about guerra the entire time, now the youth is off his list? he is another problem in my opinion, also you have pacheco and noel who cant get a chance but players with less skill getting the call, like a former player said, the corneals and i maintain the corneals are selecting this team.

Entertainment & Culture Discussion / Re: Soca's "lack of success"
« on: November 25, 2008, 10:29:22 AM »
the lack of success is attributed to the lack of marketing and togetherness in the community itself, too much infighting amongst the artists, if someone is better, they try to keep that man down, jamaicans are different, they support eachother more, add to that the lack of variety in the lyrics and releasing material throughout the year instead of just carnival. The soca artists dont make money on selling records, so they tour year round at all the carnivals, if they dont tour, they dont make money, so its a vicious cycle where they are stuck recording on only carnival lyrics. They are now getting out of this and it will help the music.

I heard the author on the radio the other night. he sounds like an ass, but some of the evidence he claims to have is really damning...he says there were World Cup matches that were fixed...including Brazil v Ghana in 2006...

not surprised, it happens all the time. just look at the money being betted on for a big game, you would understand the magnitude if a team loss or won what monetary effects it would have on the parties involved.

Football / Re: 40 countries where soccer isn't number one
« on: November 12, 2008, 10:47:31 AM »
not surprised, if you attend tt matches for regional cricket, they have a following, now wth 20/20, it has grown bigger in tt, especially since tt is the champion in the region and represented in the stanford 20/20 beating the best english county team and almost defeating england which was aired worldwide. When test and odi cricket start back, it doesnt matter whos playing in the oval, its full almost all the time, people forgetting the trini posse stand, real woman, music and liquor.

For me football is #1 but in tt, cricket is king, if you take a look at it in terms of demographics, most indo-trinis watch and play cricket or follow it in trinidad, mainly from the hindu element of the nation, they also invest in it, but you have a substantial part of the afro-trini population who plays and watch it as well, take a look at the tt team its mixed with both indian and african trinis, not to mention mixed trinis as well, local whites and you may even get local chinese and syrian playing and watching both sports. So there is no surprise, not to mention the fact that the ttcb is well run and much more organized than the ttff with a better youth program and they not as well funded as the ttff. This bodes well with the public, they have youths to look out for who are upcoming stars, no scandals nor unfair selection of players in the ttcb ranks.

who cares about the guat result, study our result against cuba at home, i see too many overreactions on this board about games which are easy for our team, especially with a full squad.

I once read an article about diego and it said he didn't have tremendous success as a coach in his previous tenures, not because he wasn't knowledgable or couldn't coach, but because of his demands on the players, he asked alot from them and expected them to be as good as himself when he played. His selection was excellent but getting the best out of the players was tough for him because he based his requirements on himself, i hope he can get the best out of these players, i dont see the problem with demanding alot, as long as the players are capable enough and have the skill and ability, if they don't, its like beating a dead horse.
