I in dat.  I am shaking the dust off meh boots as we speak.  I could give all yuh ah good 5 minutes in the right back position. I might be exagerating on the time but ah good for one over lap and one slide tackle.  After that I going and fight up with MaxG and Cowen for the cooler boy position.

Alberta boy you want to go past theory straight to praticum.  I am surprised that you are running down immediate results.  Who cares what the results are at this time (day ten), if there is improvement towards the true goal of getting full ponts against Panama and stealing a point from Mexico (and that will be a big thief along the lines of Ocean's Eleven)!!!  What do you want to base the immediate results on??  Football is a TEAM sport.

But to each his own.  When yuh fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

Alberta,
Let's give Leo a decent opportunity to prove himself.  If he is a fraud we will all see it in the coming games (and don't act as though we are on the verge of qualifying, we are in a deep hole, reality check).  What would BSC have done with the same crop of players against the opposition?

If anything, Leo should still be in an evaluation mode, if he is beyond that then we are doom to failure again.  He has had only ten days to evaluate players, he is now starting to get a view of how these players selected would perform under a game scenario.  If Leo has moved beyond evaluating players then I for one would be worried and disappointed, because he would be depending on someone else's evaluation of talent at home and the biases that come with it.  Then you would not necessarily see a difference in the make-up of the squad or the play.

Clean slate.  Let the man at least write something on the slate.

Football / Re: The Touches Match Report.....Fellas doe panic!

I will start by stating that I don't like poor results, but I will defend the team at this early juncture.  This is for the simple reason that the Professional Teams are units accustomed to playing with each other (there is history there).  Leo is putting things into place with the present crop of guys at this time.  I look at the presently configured national team as a Professional team that was formed 10 days ago and now learning to play with each other.

Let us not forget, Football is a team game first.  If what Touches is pointing out with regards to formation and tactics is true, then we are on the right road for Panama.  Have faith in the man credentials (We really don't have a choice do we).

Good to know that the Friendlies are being lined up with some decent opposition.

As Touches say:  Doe Panic Fellas

Thanks for the report Touches.

MaxG maximum respect on the efforts to contribute back home.  We need more men out here to do the same.  That requires a certain level of consciousness which I doh think some of we ballers have in dem.

Goes way beyond the boundary (or as in this case de sidelines).

Football / Re: Tiger and Rojas will be Keys for the Mexico Game
« on: May 07, 2005, 12:07:50 PM »
Coach Leo said it best: "We will need to play to our strengths and know what we can and can't do."

Far too often we focus on the opposition, playing conditions, and a whole heap a nonsense and we loose sight of what we want to do and start the game on the back foot.  Not being a great fan of BSC on the field, he was a perfect example of one focusing on what we can't do (and oh gosh he could cry) but not necessarily game planning on what we can or want to do in light of the drawbacks.  I doh care where they schedule this game, when it is all written we have 90 minutes of football to play.  So what if they schedule it out of Azteca, count yuh blessings and move on (Slap in yuh face.......Steups).  Well then similarly yuh cannot be happy that the last game of the campaign is against Mexico at home, a game which should have no meaning to Mexico since they would have already qualified and a lot of meaning to us.  Leh we count we blessings and move on.

Now, if tiger and Rojas are strengths then use them, but I doh necessarily agree with KND logic (to be honest after reading a number of posts from KND, I am hard pressed to mention "logic" and "KND" in the same line).  The players should be selected to suit a system and not the other way around or for that matter soley on a perceived familiarity with playing conditions.  That sort of game planning is what has us in the position we are in right now.  Come on, this is the 21st Century of sports there is a lot more to game planning than what was said.

On that note I am very much interested in Leo's final squad.  Let's see which so called foreign star boy receives the "Leo slap in the face" and gets benched or even left off the squad.

I am most times surprised at the venom that is thrown at Latapy and Yorke.  Noting their history some of it is deserving but I think many of us in the public loose sight of the fact that "Football", a sport to us, is these men livelihood.  We all make decisions in our professional and social lives that might appear somewhat unpatriotic, like the many of us in foreign lands that would not contribute a dime to our primary or high school library back home for a book (that is after we enjoyed a free education), but yet still we fast to get on Latas or Dwight.  Is there really a difference.  If yuh living in a glass house be careful of throwing stones.  Dem boys are little educated footballers, plain and simple.  If they fall back into the National team great if not we move on and say "Thanks" for the memories (which they have indeed provided).  We don't need to beg them or be hostile to them.  Time to move on.
