Football / Re: Grenada vs Jamaica in Caribbean final ...........
« on: December 17, 2008, 10:03:59 AM »
Here is my prediction - T&T will get in under one of two situations.
1.  Cuba will be (or should) banned if they cant guarantee that they will have a full strength squad through out the tournament.  To have a situation where half the Cuban team run off once they land in the US and play with a weakened team (all relative here) makes a mockery of the tourney.

2. Grenada will show some Caribbean solidarity and give up their spot (I mean they gave y'all Sparrow- why not a spot in the 3rd rate tournament).

I cant see the Grenadian players willingly giving up their chance to showcase their talent to the world atthe Gold Cup. This is bug for them. Same for Cuba (defections or no defections). the players worked hard, it would be a shame of Jack Warner took this away from them in favor of his country men.

have to agree with u there.

Is Manning fault 6 peeps jump out ah car and kill a yute and hospitalize he friend.

Some will say that it is his fault.  Others will say that it is the fault of the police.

But the truth is its the fault of the perps.

What is most disconcerting however, is the lack of ability by the police and those commissioned to protect and serve to apprehend these criminals and get successful convictions!

Why are so many crimes unsolved?  Why are so many criminals on the loose?

These same sickos will offend again and again if they are not swift caught, tried and punished.

thats because police trainin procedures haven't change much since the sixties ah dem man cyar take a good finger print, man does be boholding murder weapons woth dey bare hands.................. is as if they still dont grab the concept of chain of evidence, that is what it come down to. The few training opportunities that exist abroad are granted to old farts just about to go on pre retirement leave, u feel dem comin to teach anybody someting, the entire police service needs reinventing, dem men cyar ketch nobody unless they get a tip off.

u remember the bombings, the police commissioner and the minister decide to make a grand entrance with a copter and blow away all the evidence, den they ketch d man, and the idiots put d man on a plane back to isreal without properly interogating him, those thing were specialised low exposive devices, they were not so much designed to injure, but to scare and destablize.

Breds , them fellas beat ah 1st team mexico, and hunduras! plus they draw and beat canada, and was very unlucky not to qualify.

we catch we royal nenen to beat ah 2nd string USA team and failed to put away guatemala. ah mean the facts speaks for it self, do you really think we could beat ah full strenght Jamaica. IMO they have ah better unit than us.

see that word right there, ensuring that we have that is the coach responsibility, the body can't function unless it knows what the brain is doing, remember this is not the strike squad days when everybody played basically in the same vein and man could just fall in and maybe click, its a different landscape now styles vary and coaching between clubs vary, dem fellas have to be in group long enough to understand each other, if not in days then playing and practice time, how else are they supposed to gell how else are they to be well drilled and tactically sound. A team is and should be a collective, a sum of it's parts, but won't simple add itself up at the drop of a hat when the parts continually change with no good reason.

This happened already folks and at the time I would have given anything for us to be in the next round ..we beat Jamaica to win the caribbean championship but they beat us to progress in the world cup. I prefer where we are and I give kudos to Jamaica for what they have achieved. jamaica beat who reach de final ...it eh dem fault that is was grenada ! We lost to Grenada ..unlike others I blaming de players nolt de coach !..no way Grenada beating dat same team if man was playing for dey country.
Unlike us jamaica always play with heart and soul in every sport.....unless and until we change we go forever be behind de eight ball ..no matter who is de coach.

Why is dat shit.  I agree with him that de players have to take part of the responsibility for us losing.  I am in no way excusing the coaches but when players show no pride and no fighting spirit they should be blamed.

its shit simply because he constantly seeks to remove the coaching from footing part of the blame, which in my view is shortsighted and just plain wrong.

How Roberts can't get called up to play for T&T is a mystery to me.  He should be a fixture in an attacking midfield role.Controversial I agree wid you 100 percent.  See my post in the thread about Kenwyne Jones going to sunderland.  I made the same point.  Our players need to start going to other leagues besides england.
It's ah mystery to me aswell. maturana is ah dunce, and corneal didn't help any, if wim was the coach or beenie, fellas like roberts and nigel danials would've been playing regularly.hey nuff, the falla even said he preffered the attacking mid position, but pancho took it away and gave it to wolf, what ah big head dunce.

I mean come on countless aguement have been put forward as to why the coach is equally if not moreso responsible for the state of the team and u defend him but is yet to put forward a rebuttal that adequately makes your point, I yes can agree that the players have shown a lack of heart and determination aswell as poor general technique, but It is the coaches responsibility to look at the present plan and make adjustments where needed if that plan seems flawed, the coach has shown llittle or no tactical acumen whatsoever, jus choppin and changin as the sun rises and falls, now if u have an argument that can put everything u have said into a proper perspective such that it doesn't like u are simply makin execuses then bring it................otherwise...............well u already know where I stand.

A squad of 18 will only have room for 3 possibly 4 strikers. In the current system we use one out and out striker. We are heavy in this department.

K. Jones
S. John
J. Scotland
C. Glenn
D. Roberts

Unless we willing to use him in midfield somewhere, I doubt he will feature much once those above him in the pecking order are available especially right at the top.

I think he provides a different dimension to the forward line but in reality. Who is he going to displace?

glenn's speed can be a great advantage, but he needs to work on finishin, in that light alone he could well be pushed out by an in form DR.............lookin at it objectively or through the eyes of any coach more motivated by the bottom line than as some put it bais, badmind and plain incompetants

Sour grapes! Like I have said, the general consensus amongst Jamaicans is that being in with a chance of making it to the world cup finals carries more weight than playing Grenada for the title of Caribbean champions.

And anyone who follows CONCACAF football will tell you that Mex, Hon, USA, CRC will start overwhelming favorites to qualify for the world cup finals, even some of your own country-men holds that view.

lastly, it takes more than 11 players to make a good football program. Your so called "B" team that failed to spark in te Caribbean tournament had all of 5 world cup veterans in the starting line-up for christ sake. Coaches will tell you that the true strength of a football team lies in the strength of its bench.

1 world cup veteran against grenada( whitley) 3 against barbados ( whitley, avery john and cyd gray) and one against JA, whitley.

And what is your point? I suppose Cornell Glenn didnt take part in the tournament?
You just fell on your own sword.

I think he's simply saying that they were never utilized collectively or consistently, as they should have

To fire Maturana and bring Latas could be a very big mistake. Yeah I don';t think Maturana have the team playing well, but he have insight in managing in international games (though they may be outdated). Latas will be a fool to accept the full head coaching job now or within the next 6 months (that is if we still have a chance in the HEX).

He can be Head Trainer or something like that, but we need someone who have been there before as a coach and can get the job of the team looking good done.

Elan why you say that Latas wld be a mistake now for? He knows our players, their talents, and he has their respect, and admiration. He's versed with our culture in nd out football, apoart from which he seems to be gaining relevant experience at falkirk... :beermug:

Managing at the international level is a different level than club managing. You have a whole different set up, in less time to prepare, greater outside involvement, etc. Latapy taking on this headache now may not be good for his image and influence.

that's a good point eight u know,.............no not changing my position on maturana, just saying good points, but I am really not expecting warner to hire anyone else unless dey local, want a bligh and does kiss he ass regular, or cheap if from foriegn

this is de only country i know where the administration does appoint an assistant coach . everywhere else man does appoint a coach and de coach does bring he assistant.... warner tried that with Beenie and latas ...you know how that went.
he tell mats the same ting with latas earlier ...mats say he already have an assistant ....
the saga continues ....
all ah allyuh who saying bring dis one and bring dat one ...allyuh tink big coach does stand for dat ? jack running de ting like is joe public !

I see your points and understand where comin from, but what is annoying is the fact that u continually, conveniently and stubbornly ignore the fact that maturana has glaring deficiencies, in every department when it comes to coaching, choosing instead to blame the players and everything else except where most of that blame lies, with the coach, I my opinion all involved players, admin, coaching are culpable for the present state of the senior game but once u get on the field, its all coaching and as such your tactics should reflect a clear understanding of the players at your disposal and he has not done enough to prove that he knows anything about the player he selects. outside of keon, kaleem and akile there are few other that can be consider cemented into the team, even while producing creditable performances............ and this to u is not grounds to doubt the coaches instincts......and I use the term loosely

Everybody and his tantie knows that Francisco Maturana is a complete waste of time as head coach of the national squad because he is following the dictates of someone else, as his erratic selection policy, contradictory statements and bewildering tactics throughout the year testify.

By the way, if some career apologist insists that the Colombian is following the beat of his own drum, then the situation is actually worse, because no sane person in such a position of national sporting prominence can do what he has been doing of his own volition.

The difference between the two is quit simple, latas knows talent when he sees it and will know how to pick a squad and what reccomendations to make, some posters on the board wont be pleased with latas picks however, especially what players he spoke on his last visit in trinidad. Corneal on the other hand is vex because he knows he too damn bias and latas isnt when coming to selection, corneal also knows that his picks like akile edwards and the other hounds chosen by himself wont see the light of day because latas not picking a hound.

Folks need to come to reality - we do not have the depth of talent in T&T. T&T talent pool has dwindled.

and yet the under20s that has a consistent line up of players can probably give d digicel team a run for their money! People STILL CONVENIENTLY FORGETTING that last year's tournament was played in T&T as opposed to this year's tournament which was NOT...but dey want to equally compare.  Oh well.

Regardless of what you say Palos - Our Second team players should be good enough to be in the top four of the region. I still fighting to keep quiet on this whole issue but ah finding it hard for man to defend in any form or fashion incompetence. Many on this forum equated Pacho's winning record with improvement.  Please show me the improvement or better yet development when we cannot place in the top four in the region regardless if we playing in the Stadium or any savannah in the caribbean.

Stop telling me of the Hex and making it to the World Cup for a second time.  Making it to the Hex with the Blacklisted players coming back should be a given based on our World Cup experience and the group we placed in.  Getting out of the Hex is another discussion.  I also cannot agree with belittling the DCC and the Gold Cup in a a World Cup qualifying year, when we all can see that these games are a key component to the texhnical staff getting cohesiveness and strategy for the World Cup qualifying games.  Now there is an oxymoron if ever there was one "T&T Football Team Technical staff" and "Strategy".  Sorry for digressing.

This constant argument about the wrong players being selected has merits based on performance. Stop the argument about the national coach and technical staff not being responsible for improving the player and that responsibility resting solely on the player and the players' club technical staff, because I will then ask who pick the National team and what is the role of the National Team Technical staff once they have selected players who are knowingly deficient then using the excuse that this is the best players we have to work with??

My only hope for us is that someone gets it right before the Hex wheter is the TTFF getting rid of Pacho or Pacho earning his money and instilling a game plan that suits the players he has to work with (as opposed to this bush football we seeing).  In my opinion Pacho is a goat herder.  Plain talk bad manners.  He has done nothing for our football but win with an experienced team and beat non-quality opponents.  But he has a great winning record and has "coached" us to the Hex.  But other coaches in our history have done the same and we paid the price.  Porterfield and Bertille easily come to mind.  They did a very good job to get to the Hex but were exposed in the Hex as being incompetent with the same group of players.

Blessings

tell dem nah man!, I gave the coach d benefit of the doubt, even endured an ear full from "1969 woman" and chicago was enough to make me take a closer look at the coach tactics. and man to make excuses, is if man wearin blinders or have a vested interest in Maturana bein coach. The hex is at risk of being a repeat of 2001 and more embarassing so.

Answer me a simple question

Most of our locals are clueless about the game, and believe that once dey could "beat" ah man dey "ready". So Pacho realize that he only option is to find the fitess, most disiplined, coachable locals and give dem ah shot.

say what!, eye drops mi breddar eye drops, I is one that put head on a block and say give the present crop a chance because there seems or seemed little life in the football after latapy and yorke but he keeps shuffling the same old pack, and never seems interested in local players that have good stats in their favour, now I understand the idea the weaker players might be the most keen to learn but how long has it been now, have u as yet seen some minute semblance of a stable line up.

and can u tell me how the few constant picks on that team are more disiplined 2 have no team and holdin out for a pie in the sky contract and few other not even first team picks for  their clubs, come on man this  is Porterfield 2001 all over again, but with unintelligent team selection.

and I say again I supported the coach in the begining, but something jus isn't right with him

Ah Boy a topic I can relate to WELL...

I used to drink nuff milk when i was younger. All kinda glass of milk. I used to make all kinda Ovaltine, Milo, Quick, Horlicks, nutrament, peanut punch, eggnog etc.

When I get in meh teens I start lashing the supligen, linseed, seamoss, etc.

Then I find I used to fart plenty but the farts used to be louder, more in volume, noise, quantity, length of fart period and increasingly more potent in the scent department.

Then it move from farting to proper gripe. I talking serious belley pain. Then I graduate to full fledged Diahorreah anytime i drink milk or a milk based product.

If I want to use the toilet...a glass of milk and in 20 Minutes I have to make a appointment on the bowl.

Funny thing is Ice cream does wuk meh too....but Haggen Daz I have no ill effects...but gimme a flavourite, Munch King or B&M....is level fart after that.

Another ting that start to wuk meh as I get older and I used to drink copious amounts...see orange juice...LARD BOY...That is pressure. I will get instant pain and fart, pain in meh joints and diahorrea with that.

Lataid does work real good, if I chew 2 tablet, no pain, no fart. I could drink milk good.

Nuts is another thing will bring out bump on meh skin. But not all some...I cool with cashew, but regular p-nut. Is level Bump.

I goin an' sue your ass for public endangerment or something.......... damn near bust a gut laughin :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have to agree with Tallman on this one. Frico, I understand your point, but there is never an acceptable substitute for match fitness and, on the basis of the dismal showing of our local team at the Digicel Cup, this team needs as much matches under its belt in order to gel as a cohesive unit.

We cannot always rely on our foreign-based to rescue us and Yorke and Latapy, although in superb shape, do not have the legs to run with the twenty-somethings anymore.

So, I think the Gold Cup would have certainly helped more than hurt us.

We certainly needed to play in that tournament more than Grenada and Jamaica, due to the fact that we DO have bigger fish to fry and need match practice.

preach on brother!
thank you

Due respect to you Tallman but my main point was that we should be concentrating on just the WC qualifiers and nothing else apart from club matches.I do not think that any other Football Federation in the world has to play a major competition that clashes with WC matches, you can correct me if I'm wrong, even if I am 'I still feel we cannot afford one major injury bcoz our pool is very small.Remember Norieaga and Mauge?I am sure there were more but not so serious.I still say the GC would have intefered with the bigger prize...qualification for 2010 SA.In the meantime let us all be happy for reaching the Hex and let Jamaica and Grenada enjoy their moment of glory,we still await glory of a bigger kind.Have a nice Christmas and a Happy 2009.

distraction u say,
what about get a chance to feel out the very same opposition that we face in the hex,

knowing what they may have in store for us and how we can counter it,

how about maintaining the the match fitness that is sorely lacking, especially for the players that are on the team despite not having a club.

The ability to gather first hand information on the way any of these teams would approach us in the hex, thus allowing us to have some semblance of a plan...........hmmmm

need I also remind u that this would have given the core nucleus of the hex team a chance to work with the digicel team, did u not notice that after the US game that the "experiments" were subdued and some cohesion allowed to take hold........if only by force.

does it not occur to U..........sir, that those same restrictions might have been put in place for the gold cup thus allowing for further cohesion within that core.

guess not huh............... idiot!

It is so easy to agree with those who are saying the same thing you are saying ...himself to himself ...why lasana eh ask dem fellas why the standard of the local players so poor ? You go ask fellas who producing substandard raw material what a finished product should look like ? I seeing right ? all yuh know how old Marvin Oliver is ? ( He was on de squad for the first game maturana was in charge for ) ..like man forgetting that Mats started with he or what ? all yuh want more old people on de squad ? Vidale say de coach should not be experimenting by now, fenwick and stuart charles calling for de inclusion of other players ...how come nobody eh pick up on dat ? again ..is because we want to hear what dey sayin !!!
Blind could always lead de blind ....if you eh no where you want to go then any road will take you there !

What you talking about men not trapping is irrelevant, and most of the coaches addressed this issue.

They stated that the players did not pick themselves and as such you cannot really lay blame squarely on the players. How hard is that to understand. If you have a stable of thorough-bred and you pick the donkey out in the pasture, how the hell you could expect the donkey to buss the tape first.

The argument that the players are technically weak is nullified by the fact the coach is the one who pick the team. Get real/

name the players ( thoroughbreds ) we have in our stable that the coach eh pick yet ? When and if you can answer that i am also asking you to consider the fact that the well is dry.

Okay, if we looking to pick local then the stable have to be the PFL, and the top performers were not selected to the team. Now, the top performers may not be true thorough-bred, but they not donkeys cause they did out perform those selected, not to mention Daniel, Hyland, Whitley, Power are without regular competition. I don't have to name the players when the coaches in the PFL are naming the players and the stats show who the players are.
