Latapy and Yorke seem like good choices simply because when are there around the team looks much better: organized, assertive, aggressive, like they actually have a plan............so I ask this, is that plan maturana's plan that isn't being properly executed by the locals he pickin now, because it sure as hell dont seem so.

1+ for giving dem a chance because I feel dem doin it a'ready, an dem same fellas that man does be waisin down "aklie" does even look the part.......though be it in shades

2002 qualifiers bertille get fired, porterfield is the coach, after a rough start against canada in the semis and anybody who remember that first game in canada would admit we didn't start good at all, we was all over d place, an inspired long throw out d box, from dey and d momentum change in we favor and never let up..........remember............remember d hex after that..............remember that desaster!....remember the camera switching to porterfield RIP and he just sitting there with he chin in he hand with no clue what to do nex', well I see that look again recently in Chicago and guess who was wearin it,...........dais all i have to say

It is so easy to agree with those who are saying the same thing you are saying ...himself to himself ...why lasana eh ask dem fellas why the standard of the local players so poor ? You go ask fellas who producing substandard raw material what a finished product should look like ? I seeing right ? all yuh know how old Marvin Oliver is ? ( He was on de squad for the first game maturana was in charge for ) ..like man forgetting that Mats started with he or what ? all yuh want more old people on de squad ? Vidale say de coach should not be experimenting by now, fenwick and stuart charles calling for de inclusion of other players ...how come nobody eh pick up on dat ? again ..is because we want to hear what dey sayin !!!

regardless of all the aparent self promotion, it is quite clear that there are better local players on offer than what the coach has choosen, I was one who said give him a chance, they looked good against cuba and guatemala den came that US game, and the in explicable decision to send in a team with little or no defensive leadership or leadership of any kind for that matter, d other question though is team selection presently one mans job, then who is it, because whoever that is seem to have no idea or dont care to know the the strengths and weakness of the individual players, the team selection has gone from experimental to a vapse type setup.............dat mc farlaine fella was like a rabbit out a hat

another question after all d debate about dwarika did he even play...........didn't care to see d grenada, fell asleep on the bdos win..........and I never ever fall asleep watchin we play before! as for jamaica well.................. couldn't watch dat.

hello All

I recently got introduced to Krav maga while taking in the human weapon series, what got me about it was how practical it was as opposed to other fighting arts, while still being very technical in its approaches, and immediately started researching it and came across this torrent link it contains several pdfs and four well put together instractional videos. it covers everything from basic hand to hand, to knife and gun disarming techniques. I figure TT being the way it is these days, that ordinary ........... um...somewhat law abiding trinis like mi self and u........I imagine...... , can benefit from learnin this art because again its practical, u wont find any magical jet Li/kung fu stuff in it. It simply focuses on teaching the user about "potentially" staying alive in many close encounter scinarios.

Note: This is NOT meant to be a replacement for Sound Judgement and Good Sense on your part, but only when u tink d criminal/attacker not goin' to use his or jus plain dont have none

Sound like you working well with limited resources. But keep in mind even  "flashy" kumite-style fighting has its benefits. Risking your health to face off against tournament athletes will help you master fear and relax if confronted by real attackers. Also sparring at full throttle with bad intent flashy or practical is a reasonable approximation of the force that could be directed toward you in a self-defense situation. Also when you are involved in an altercation you will likely get hit, bent or thrown. And all the practical technique in the world will not help if you freeze up when you that happens. Hard contact with an opponent will gradually bring out the ability to shrug off the shock having force applied to you person and to keep fighting back, a VERY important skill to have.

If you find you want to broaden your knowledge of MA into your particular situation to it might be a good idea to develop a practioners community, whereby people of different backgrounds and levels meet, share and train, as long as proper ground rules are laid down and respected.

Keep it up the training, not everyone has the luxury of going the conventional route.  Just remember that an empty cup can hold the most tea..

it not flashy kumite fights that bother me, its the inept looking ones that dont fill me with confidence.....but again like bakes said could just be weak instruction

I understand the purpose of kata as well, muscle memory is important and it would be foolish to believe that u can master something after one try, my point was that it all gets tossed out the door for kumite sessions, some students seem more likely to hurt themselves than an opponent, something I don't think good instructors should allow to happen.

I should mention that I am in Trinidad, my comments are not am indictment of karate itself, but on the value or lack thereof, placed on awareness, technique and form during sparring sessions that I have seen here, especially among young students, but mind you the kata sessions look very technical but mostly a bit flashy and who like flash more than trinis, but as I said the lack of application shown by the students just doesn't really inspire me

My biggest concern would be for you to pick up some moves from film, along with a false sense of confidence in your abilities and then find yourself in trouble on the streets.  Even dedicated martial artists who live in the dojo have to guard against this, let alone someone who never/hardly ever steps foot on the mat.  So don't take what I'm saying as discouragement... if anything I'd like to channel your enthusiasm in a different, what I feel is more effective direction.  You might be at a disadvantage in that more esoteric styles like Krav Maga, KSM, Escrima etc. may not be available to you in TnT so it may make more sense to develop some grounding in another artform and then incorporate some crosstraining into your routine where possible.

trust me when I tell u that I am a perfectly grounded individual and never get ahead of myself, it would be detrimental to my well being if I was prone to that kind of thing, and I have done my fear share of supervised physical training

I as well as my brother have been to karate demonstrations, my brother does capoeira seriously too.
karate dojos are good at would they do, karate.....................self defense however and generally awareness, attention to form and technique seems to get lost in translation, somewhere between master and student when it came to kumite sessions ............again like the football it could be that the student/player just not competently grasping or choose to ignore the basics but..................it seems like scoring that point is more important than displaying proper understanding of what they are taught.

Trinidad & Tobago will qualify with any win against Jamaica if Grenada don't win by at least 2 against Barbados.
Trinidad & Tobago will qualify with a draw if Grenada draw with Barbados, or if Barbados beat Grenada
Trinidad & Tobago will qualify if they lose by one goal to Jamaica and Barbados beat Grenada 1-0.

no I did not intend to dismiss kung fu the word movie just got omitted , do u have any idea how many people believe what they see in movies are real and worse do u no way many people try to pass off cine' tricks as real in so called instruction manuals .....................on a kung fu note fan of wing chun

again my intent was never to mislead nor is it to have people believing this to be a begin all end solution just a practical one based merely on its attention to basics and its focus on dealing with scenarios that may occur during attack.

and again if didn't seem to highlight them enough  the documentation is very thorough hence the reason I chose that package

I am 31 and slightly handicapped, practicality is important to me, and I take learning very seriously.

with proper research and a honest acknowledge of your limitations, a person can teach themselves anything once the right resources are readily available.

hell I am proficient in 3d art, character animation, and getting there in 3d applications programming among other stuff, all through proper research, I found solid resources practiced, researched and practiced some more.

Anybody who watches a video and then goes out and tries to replicate what they see on tape putting their lives in danger.  There simply is no substitute for actual time being put in on the mat and developing the type of muscle memory and discipline that is required for the practical application of the techniques in real world settings. This is where the 'sound judgment' should factor in.

meant to say that too, we been at it for months actually and still are,

the people on those tapes a professionals in law enforcement and military, not some clowns on metacafe and such or else I would not have posted it.

All relevant cautions, health and safety requirements are fully articulated on those videos or I would not have posted it.

u might also want to consider creating a simple user account for internet browsing, this step alone makes it infinitely more difficult for viruses to do serious damage to your system as critical system folders are off limits to modification by viruses and spyware...........without serious hacker magic, and they generally dont bother because the concenus is that the average computer user is stupid or un/under informed or simply dont care about computer security. your admin account should neva neva ever be used for any thing other than admin stuff anyways..........installing new software and stuff.

I dual boot win2000 and XP, why..................2000 in my humble opinion is still windows most stable solid offering it has been attacked had to deal with hardware issues and kept goin all the while bleeding to death, XP just screamed like a bitch and died the first time it crashed on me, added to that, I still encounter wierdness with it , and I am certain that vista has even more weirdness. alot of the control u have readily exposed with 2000, is present in XP and i suppose vista but is disabled and cheekily hidden

dem fellas could get points from all them games............even with the kinda football they playing now once they have the right leadership and mindset, if the technical staff seriously try to understand the opposition, they can get point even in the most unexpected places...........for instance usa and mexico not comfortable when they being run at........maybe not advisable in mexico but they can be held, but I say there could be definate points off the usa in the usa, but they cant sit back......we have too expose and capitalise on their weaknesses the way they do ours. and I'll tell u what they won't see it comin either, but the midfield and defense need to be all their mentally.

Nah just prefer to get it in CD/DVD form once others done "guinea pig" it but at the same time I buy all the the games I really want as a gesture of good faith/appreciation, if u haven't realized piracy is killing the desire of companies to make PC games.............maybe not bad for xboxers and ps2/3 people but bad for me...........and it had nobody used to run down crack game like me

yeh a here so, mi bess friend gi me the money to buy it, and few days later, ah get offer  dvds, still promise mi self to buy it and never did because it was freezin plenty.........................cuss dat game, cuss it.........and den realized it was a hardware..............turns out the fan on mi gf6600gt was broken, and hware protect kept kickin in when it get too hot. I find a replacement though............didn't expect to find one in trinidad either............real hard to maintain gaming boxes down here.............it still have skyamp dat does want to tell u that intel POS, gf4 is d latest in graphics hware ,even while u tellin dem that yours is gf6

be buying a new gaming rig jus now though gf6 lil dated... and if a game not scalable (Crisis) wais a time
