the problem is we as trinis get accustom to the "now for now patch work" we seem to prefer it simply because we not really exposed to nuttin else (y u tink we does keep jumpin from one monkeys pants to the other for elections and refuse to put both parties outa WE misery) because we in the true sense of the phrase "creatures of habit", and despite what we tell ourselves we despise change.......especially if that change requirres added effort or patients on our part. we brain just not wired for that kinda thing.........period................sadly :'(

We like how the team play against El Salvador, Cuba and Guatemala for the most part, but want to fire de coach after USA beat we.

So let's say we don't make the Hex - I expect that Pacho will be fired then, then what next? I guess you will want the next coach to bring in the blacklisted to prepare for the 2014 WC. Anyhow yuh look at it the youths on this team is we 2014 squad - so get accustom to them. We are not developing players fast enough for there to be significant changes for 2014.

So we get lucky and scrape een the 2006 WC, and all yuh acting like is we birth right to be there every 4 years. For we to guarantee that we get in every 4 years it will take much more than a few foreign based, and a "big name" coach -  we must develop a footballing culture in T&T.

We does call weself ah footballing nation, but we doh love football in T&T (we love it everywhere else but T&T), we is ah nation of waggonists, and all yuh want to know why we having problems with player development, and have been ketching we ass to beat lowly CFU teams, even when we "big names" on de field.

All yuh ever watch how we foreign based does play real hard for dey clubs, but look like dey on vacation when dey playing for T&T. Look at all de mistakes Carlos been making, ah bet he doh make dem with Sunderland. Stern doh loaf as much in England - Yet all yuh blaming de coach. The players suppose to want it bad enough because dey representing THEIR nation, and that is all de motivation dey need. That reason alone is enough for dem to play to their full potential, This is not club football - this is yuh nation yuh representing.

Truth be told, and all things considered we shouldn't be in a WC finals, we just very fortunate. Nevertheless, we may stumble in 2010, so that we can finish in 2014 - I cool with that.

well said, but still one of things that I in the last few matches of the 06 campaign that has not resurfaced here was that finally......finally TT had developed courage while under fire something we never had imagine (holding the US 1-0 with ten men, come from behind twice against quatemala to win, coming from behind against mexico to win.) where did it come from, who put it there, and where has it gone now, even if pacho can't speak english, anton has been along for the ride for years, has he learned nothing, If nothing else that "never say die psycology" that the team had finally gained, should have stayed, wim started destroying it with his refusal to take the local player seriously and Anton and Jack allowed the job to be completed. If we should qualify again for the WC and players show the kind of nerve or lack thereof that was displayed last night we are going to feel the embarassment we were spared in Germany.

Make mistake people we weren't true contenders, but we had that mindset

the perfect scenario would been jack paying the player what was promised "rather than using it to fund his campaign antics"
have that team with the improved psyche playing and motivated ,mixing in the the new players to adopt that same mindset who would in turn instill it in even more local player when the pros aren't around(anymore)

it seems that some forget that as far as the "experts" were concerned we fielded an aging team "well past it's prime" for the WC

Pacho stays. I was wondering why Dennis was on the bench, but then it occurred to me that Dennis played his ass off only 4 days ago at his age, and I am confident that his body was complaining, so why play him against the USA.

The only player we were missing was Dwight, and I understand why he wasn't there - no fault of Pacho. This performance does not deter me one bit. Leon and Telesford are the main culprits, they are supposed to be defensive midfielders, but for the most part did not pick up the loose man, and didn't effectively support their central defenders.

After the first goal did u see the camera pan to lawerence he was blue vex and looking health to me

What havin an ego 2 wit being disruptive. U could b a hound and b disruptive. D best team mean all avialable players being called 2 camp and d esteem coach look at dem and c what dey have 2 offer. Then u pick yuh best team dat eh happen man gettin call back then bein discarded because dey disruptive we talent pool so large dat we can discard men just so.

point taken, but the vibe being sent out on the board by some is way too negative, at the end of the day don't u think that the guy's that got selected deserve some benefit of the doubt, I don't think the talent pool is as slim as some make it out to be, it's raw perhaps but, it exists. with proper molding, who knows what could happen?

As I said earlier it is risky but, in my opinion in this region, there no better test than the WCQ or maybe the gold cup, but apart from that top flight friendlies don't come our way......... atleast not often enough

Yeah but who was d coach when we get 5-1. D FVL argument pass boring now play d best players even if dey is little greenmen from mars but dey have a TNT passport. Doh drop man because he disruptive etc who was more disruptive than Rodman but he has bout nuff NBA rings because d coaches knew how 2 get d best out ah them.

so... um........ what then by your estimation defines the "best players" because it seems to u it's someone not playin' here at the time :o. And the Rodman example don't fit that was a big ego among big egos, we are trying to build a confident bunch of up and comers and they need all the positive vibes they can get, and if there are elements that are detrimental to that process, then I say put them in place, because they should know better

I am not discounting the contribution of the foreign pros, but here's the thing
<scenario>
digicel cup local based team hastily put together, not given as much attention, doesn't play that well but gets the gold cup spot anyway and then is pretty much discarded in favor of the foreign based pros</scenario>

how does that build a usable local talent pool, tell me?, I'm about breaking the dependency syndrome, about not having to put up with the Roy Keanes of the world unless it it's absolutely necessary, what wrong with that ???

and we won 3-2 ?

save for one.....and we all know who that is ;D  that was the same team that struggled in the previuos matches so then, your point is what.....exactly ???

@arazi the "stand and fire" statement was meant to highlight a major flaw specific to his striking abilities i.e. "offsides" not his general play, should have phrased it better, my bad, but still, he is has trouble with "thrird man release" setups and generally is best as a "direct" targetman so doesn't it stand to reason that paying closer attention to the action of all around him and not just the person delivering the ball should be part of his mindset, even after all these years. he tally should be easily closer to the eighties, if he would only learn
....................there is playing it close and then there is being 3 whole feet behind the last defender and not realising it ???

well I like the fact that more local talent is being used, I see it this way, If u have a well oiled, competent  local outfit, then the foreign based player become bonus adds, would it be good to field a team that doesn't attract the panic that the exclusion of stern, birchie, roberts and yorke seems to be causing. the way I see it WCQ is the perfect acid test to find such players, risky though it might be. when else will there be a sterner test in this region <sarcasm>the digicel cup ??? :P</sarcasm>

as for the Stern John argument, credit him for his goals but, he is to easily made redundant by more technically minded teams as a "stand and fire attacker" he is still the worst reader of the offside trap I have ever seen

Forgive me for making just a general statement, but sometimes I think us supporters are living in some fantasy world where we supposed to be beating teams like Guatemala easily and mashing up the U.S. I saw the game on Saturday and quite frankly, we looked as solid as we can expect for the level of talent we’re putting on the field.

I think Stern John, Roberts and Birchall should at least be on the team if not starting but what if their attitudes do not please the coach and their play on the field isn’t good enough for him to put up with their disruptive attitudes? Not saying this is the case, but maybe it is.

What exactly do we as the supporters want from this coach? We’re in second place in a group behind one of the top teams in the region. We were very very unlucky not to win the last game, a game in which we competed from start to finish. What is the big problem with the coach? Is it because he’s not picking our favourite players? Should he put up with disrespectful and disruptive behaviour because we the fans want to see certain players on the field? I love this forum but when I read some this stuff I just have to wonder what kind of dream land we living in when we expect Stern John and Chris Brichall to make us CONCACAF powerhouses.  Yes they should be on the team but we have to trust the coache’s decision; he didn’t drop from a tree and started calling himself a coach, he may actually have a clue of what he’s doing.

For example, when Aklie Edwards, Jamal Gay, Guevara, Joyce and Cupid among others were playing in all those games before WCQ started we were criticizing the coach for using too many players and experimenting too much. With Yorke, Hyland and John out already who are we looking too to fill the gaps in the team, those same young players who he was giving exposure too in the earlies. He knew there might come a time when he will have to call on these same young players to replace the veterans. Yet all we did was bawl how Edwards not ready and blah blah blah as if we know anything about running a national football program.
Anyway, don’t take offense to my rant but these are just some of my humble opinions. In my fantasy I’ll be looking for a point on Wednesday

well this is my first post here....................... been lurking for a while hello everybody and I have to say I agree with the above, I saw few thing wrong with Saturday's game, the equalizing goal was a set play.....right? how the hell does formation become an issue in a situation like that ??? as suggested above

stern would have been a nice to have....sure, but there needs to be succession planning as well, and if the rumours are true and he's more of a pain than an inspiration to the younger players .......um isn't that a bad thing, regardless of his resume ???

for the most part they looked a cohesive unit, and to me that more important than giving everybody their favorites.

Latapy is my favorite player of all time, but when it took his return from retirement to re-ignite our qualification hopes the scary thought that there might not be much life in trinidad football after him entered my mind, I have to say that those worries have been quieted a lot, because to me this is one of the more solid group od four starts I have seen

mi 2 cent.
