dude we holding a low block and man was gettin stepped pass like dey not dey, I agree with yuh point re: facilitating some proper arrangement for training and prep and d gov't seeming lack of interest but d manner in which Bolivia broke our lines with d space available was scary. we not fit enough to step across 3ft to give we self ah better chance of defending d situation ??? there wasn' even "tired effort" in some ah dem goal........I didn' come with no high expectation or rose coloured glasses......I knew going in we were more than likely going to lose

Mexico is the only team that is guarantied a spot the other 2.5 spots is up for grabs.
Canada Honduras U S A will battle it out for the other spots with Costa Rica and Panama with a outside chance of taking a spot.
El Salvador coach has added some American steal to El Salvador but he has taken away there attacking flair they are going to struggle to score goals.
Once Jamaica and TT continue to hire a bunch of local coach's they will never qualify for a WC

When did they have that?

come now seeker :shameonyou: don't you know that any country the even close enough to smell d air in Argentina and Brazil have attacking flair.....I cry :shameonyou: good sir

Sando, I used to talk to the late Coops(Kenwyn Cooper). He coached the TT national in one of these Shell Cup and I think they won. He told me that he liked this tournament because it gave the younger players exposure. As a matter of fact they have lost some of the tournaments by using the B team. He was under no illusions that being Caribbean champion made them ready for the Central Americans. He bemoan the fact that they could not get some of the top English teams that used to come in the 60s and give us a run for we money. He would have liked to get South American opposition sometimes, but TTFA always had "other" plans. Which led to nowhere.

I think Eve's inclination towards pragmatism caused him to lose very "gettable" points in the end though he would still got fair showing out of the team not good but fair, Fenwick's style and temperament just does not suit this team, result aside, If you looked with an unbiased eye yuh could kinda see "sumting" coming together......kinda....still think he needs to be braver, but yuh could kinda see "sumting", whether it real or mirage should be tested, IMHO, can't say that I could see "sumting" with Fenwick results aside, d players seemed uninterested or a little annoyed on d few occasions yuh could judge facial expressions from d footage of games, dat cyah be ah good sign
whether it’s fenwick, fister or hart, these lads want a friend to pat them on the back, not a coach to prepare them to play for their country. I want to know were they disinterested playing for lawrence as well thus the reason they lost 17 games in succession? this international football is not about some prima donnas coming together to lime with the boys and hustle some match fees and head back to their clubs, this is about pride in the uniform. just look at quoto, Quintero and zardes how those guys go out and kill themselves for the shirt, you think they give a damn about who’s coaching them? no, it’s all about the shirt and the fans who travel thousands of miles to see them play. our lads could give less than a damn about that ttfa logo on their uniform, or the flag for that matter, in fact it’s all about them.

in the absolute beginning no maybe not, as tings progress yes, Trinis have fragile sensibilities, annoyingly so, for d most part, Trinis unfortunately like winners and "advantage ting" so Lawrence's collapse to abject failure would have lead to d same said loss of confidence/interest, with Hart it was blatant undermining by d new Admin to get local club players in the team even though it had been proven time and time again dat dem fellas couldn' deal with d pace required by Hart.

did Eve fail, yes, can dat failure be interpreted as abject?, eye of d beholder ting dat, but as I said, I could kinda see "sumting" dey, for whatever dat is worth, can I be proven wrong? yes.....but at dis stage ah willing to find out.

Eve say in the post-match conference that personal fitness played a big part. How much more could we have done with fit players? It was 5 games in about 2 weeks, that had to take a toll. I feel short-changed in that we can't accurately assess the team's ability if they not fit. Also if we had Hyland, Bateau and Levi we would have had a much stronger team. Even if we playing ultra-defensive, Levi is a reliable outlet for a counter-attack, and he woulda stretched their back lines.
Eve also said he rested Molino because he just came back from injury, fair enough, he has to consider Molino's career in a situation where we were highly unlikely to progress.
In this tournament I didn't think the formations used were good for Molino. He needs a fellow attacker near him in the attacking third to combine with. His clever passes and movement are what make him great. He not goin to dribble through 3 men but he will certainly take then out the equation with a pass or a run.
When is Copa Caribe?

Yuh light de stove and yuh cooking with gas. 🔥

I woulda go more 343-ish stay compact in ah mid block and most launch d front 3 and wingbacks and leave d defensive 5 floating close for cover more like 3-2-5 in attack...we woulda have ah lil solidity and d ability to get numbers forward with good enough  protection in d backline  , neither  guat or el sal was engaging in any kinda high width to make ah straight back 5 any kinda necessary from what I could see

d constant needless back passes annoying

We playing a lot of backward passes right now.

We've probably played about 7 to 8 minutes worth of negative passes out of the 90 minutes.

Honestly, that is the norm for most teams, clubs and national teams. But last night is was driving me f**king crazy.

It was driving you crazy because it was probably beyond the standard deviation. It seemed to have driven many/several observers crazy. Not sure that includes the coach.

I view a lot of football. You view a lot of football. When last you have been that put off by negative passes?

I view it as an issue that could have been resolved and should have been resolved relatively quickly, but I am also absorbing that it has grown roots genetically.

When used in European football it is accompanied by other actions designed to spark penetration. The players were not balanced in applying it as an unlocking instrument.
Resetting play through yuh defenders is common tac to switch or recycle d ball if a avenue get block but these days defenders push up to be closer options,  while we defenders wasn't "staying home" they were mostly negative and never once would try and resist Guat press in a forwrd thinning way, except for Alvin.

Even if fitness was a concern, ah lack of courage  is what did us in here, we didñ't really play "bad", d coaching staff just decided to leave dey balls in Florida  or something

Verdict?

yuh could tell dat he trying for solid defense, but we attack too one note, dumping to d target man or running d wingers in behind, no attempt to play through the middle, no decoy runs to draw defenders from d midfielders, no creativity from d mids either, and no courage, d amount ah time we turn back play was unnecessary

His second spell as Chelsea manager was infuriating for me, even during d title winning season, needless pragmatism, dat is why he cyah make at clubs with attack in dey DNA

Anther test coming up- Guat did put up a fight against Mexico and had some offensive attacks going- at this stage in our development no team is a pushover- even today if we faced Anguilla or Bangadlesh we would be in for a test.
Hope to see improvements in:

striker position- some one has to step up and create havoc in the box
We need to be more of an offensive threat
3. Our offensive build up and attack have to be evident as we press forward and keep pressure on defence
4. Need some creative flair up front
5 - our midfield trio needs some work- not defensively on the ball not offensively controlling or setting up the attack

we have no choice but to go for it. with a slim mathematical chance we hadda score goals we might also not concede but at this stage all bets are off
stop worrying your head mate and just rock back and enjoy our last game in a while. as previously mentioned, mexico is a top team in the world for a reason, they don’t fall victim to minnows, but instead go out and get the job done with precision and accuracy. they don’t live in wonderland like us in CFU, in reality they are concacaf giants for a reason.

nah I not worrying I know is ah fraction of ah percentage odds, I jus want to see us play with more enterprise from d word go

D ting is we looked capable when we abandoned dat ultra defensive shluck and went after the game, my feeling is we should have gone for it early and close up early if we had manage to earn ourselves a couple goals and wanted or needed to close up, if fitness was ah concern....but we were left chasing ah game with considerably less gas in d tank because containment measures does burn gas too,

we looked more competent when we tried to actually play, second goal notwithstanding, which might have been mooted had our approach been braver from d look of tings.....it altogether very vexing

why d fuuck we didn' start like this, Eve got this start wrong
yup. I was certain Moore and Joseph would have been on top, Telfer in his wing role. Hacksaw & Molino middle, Powder left (4-4-2) Jones or Williams ,  David, Peters, Hodge.

At least he successfully adjusted the 2 nd half, but chasing the game at this level not easy for anybody.

that El Salvador team looked unsettle d moment we started cuttin out dey channels and closin dey angles, El sal nor Guat does deal with pressing well, yet dem was pressing we all over d park.....we lose two nil and yuh could still see we coulda get ah result if IF we did come out and play man.....dais what hurtin mih d most......
