The ligue 1 players are Desmarest, Jeff louis( who fired the first shot that lead to the goal), Kervin belfort-fils, Jean Jacques Pierre and Jean Sony Alcenat. Jean Eudes Maurice is a second division player. The ones playing in France are Jeff louis, Belfort and Maurice

If you're making the case that  T&T is better than Haiti base on the game you watch then you must admit that Haiti is also better than Honduras right now who's leading the group because Haiti outplayed Honduras and did look better than Honduras. Just to be fair! Wouldn't you agree with me?

Haiti took 24 shots and scored zero goal, Honduras took 5 shots and scored 2 goals. Haiti was on the plus side  in all statistical aspects of the game but loss the game.

Here is a fair rating and comparison:

From what I saw, the two teams are evenly match. We all agree that with a little luck on  Haiti side , they could of won the game 3-0. With a little luck on T&t side, T&T could of tied the game 2-2.

I don't think T&T could of won, they could of tied it but not winning it for the following reasons:

T&T never tested the Haitian Goaly with a hard shot at any point of the game while your goaly hard to stop some hard shots from the Haitians. I also realize every time the Haitians got the ball on the counter attacks, they were watching T&T on their review mirror which led me to believe they were faster than T&T players. Haiti did attack the goal faster, look more hungry and determine than T&T. I was surprise in most part of the second half, T&T was playing  Haitian style of soccer looking cool passing the ball at midfield back and forth side way etc... They were playing like they had the lead. When you're 2-0 behind, you attack the opponent goal by moving the ball forward not side way or lateral passes.

From watching all the teams right now in this group, I'd say Haiti and Trinidad are the 2 best teams in the group. I still don't think Honduras is that good. They're just  riding on their name and reputation as the 3rd best team in the concacaf.

I think you will win against Honduras while Haiti will take care of El Salvador

The commentators failed to understand  that these Caribbean teams are playing with European based players on their rosters. They will be surprised to find out how many first & second divisions French based players are on Martinique squad. Just like they're already given Honduras the group before any games played...well hopefully T&T, Haiti or Salvador will prove them wrong..

Football / Group B preview

Gold Cup Group B preview: El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Trinidad & Tobago
JULY 4, 2013
Nicholas Rosano
MLSsoccer.com

Group A | Group B | Group C

El Salvador

Head coach: Agustín Castillo (Peru)

MLS connections: Steve Purdy (Chivas USA)

Previous Gold Cup appearances: 7; quarterfinalists in 2002, 2003, 2011

Los Cuscatlecos registered a commendable accomplishment by getting out of the group stage in 2011, just the third time they have done so. Though recently a fringe player among Central American teams, they should be able to take advantage of a wide-open group behind strong favorites Honduras. The young squad (average age: 24.2 years old) features one MLS player – Chivas USA defender Purdy, though a significant number of players developed in the US, including goalkeeper Derby Carrillo, midfielders Richard Menjivar and Gerson Mayen and forward Dustin Corea. Former Chivas USA attacking midfielder Osael Romero is the most experienced player on the squad, with 74 caps and 16 goals for the national team.

Haiti

Head coach: Israel Blake Cantero (Cuba)

MLS connections: Mechack Jerome (Sporting KC), Peterson Joseph (Sporting KC)

Previous Gold Cup appearances: 4; quarterfinalists in 2002, 2009

It's difficult to know what to make of the Haiti squad, which is drawn from players across the globe and features just eight of the 23 (including all three goalkeepers) playing their club football in their home country. With an experienced backline anchored by veteran defender Jean-Jacques Pierre – one of four squad members who plies his trade in France's top two professional divisions – and a team brimming with confidence after holding their own in friendlies against Spain (2-1 loss) and Italy (2-2 draw) in June, an appearance by Les Grenadiers in the knockout stages isn't too farfetched a notion.

Honduras

Head coach: Luis Fernando Suárez (Colombia)

MLS connections: Marvin Chávez (San Jose Earthquakes), Mario Martínez (Seattle Sounders)

Previous Gold Cup appearances: 10; runners-up in 1991

Honduras have firmly established themselves as a power in CONCACAF on the back of qualification for the 2010 World Cup and consecutive Gold Cup semifinal appearances in 2009 and 2011. Though Los Catrachos opted to leave many of the Premier League and MLS-based stars that have featured so far in their World Cup qualifying campaign, they still boast a formidable squad including MLS-based wingers Chávez and Martínez and a smattering of European-based talent including former D.C. United wide man Andy Najar, now with Belgian powerhouse Anderlecht. The squad still boasts a good mix of youth and experience, and enough talent to match their recent Gold Cup showings.

Trinidad and Tobago

Head coach: Stephen Hart (T&T)

MLS connections: Carlyle Mitchell (Vancouver Whitecaps), Keon Daniel (Philadelphia Union)

Gold Cup appearances: 7; semifinalists in 2000

The Soca Warriors are back after missing out on the past two Gold Cups and looking very different from the team representing the smallest country ever to qualify for the World Cup, in 2006. Former Canada national team coach Hart will take the helm of his native country after spending the last 25 years coaching in Canada, and will count on players plucked from club sides as far off as Turkey, Kazakhstan, Thailand and India. Stoke City forward Kenwyne Jones and former Arsenal defender Justin Hoyte, now with Middlesbrough, lead the England-based contingent and could be key to T&T's knockout-round hopes, while reigning USL PRO MVP Kevin Molino will look to add to his burgeoning international experience. Former MLS players on the squad include Daneil Cyrus (Sporting KC), Chris Birchall (LA Galaxy, Columbus Crew) and Cornell Glen (New York, Dallas, Columbus, Colorado, LA, San Jose).

Group Dynamic

Honduras are the clear favorites, here, but after that things are wide open. The pressure will be on T&T to get early results against El Salvador and Haiti early on, knowing that the formidable Catrachos await at steamy BBVA Compass Stadium in the final group match. Haiti, on the other hand, could be in great shape if they can squeeze a point out of their own match against Honduras at Red Bull Arena in the first round of games, leaving Trinidad and Tobago in Miami – home to a Haitian diaspora of more than 100,000 – and El Salvador in Houston.

El Salvador should like their chances – they've shown in World Cup qualifying and the Copa Centroamericana that they go toe-to-toe with some of the more talented teams in Central America. Ultimately, they have enough talent on the roster to be able to go through alongside Honduras and one of the Caribbean teams – likely Haiti, considering the scheduling, rosters, and Haiti's "home" game in Miami.

The good news for whichever team finishes third? With the US and Costa Rica likely to put up big numbers against their Group C opponents, Cuba and Belize, it seems highly likely that the third-place team in a tight group such as this one will be one of the two third-place teams to earn a quarterfinal berth.

You know what I found to be interesting about this group. Every team and everyone feels this is the easiest group. Honduras fans and other Gold cup teams think that's the easiest group, according to most people, Honduras should beat everyone easily and top the group with no problems. Salvador fans think that T&T and Haiti are easy 3 points, they only need worry about Honduras. Here in the T&T thread, they also feel the same way as the Salvadorian. Here the prediction is , T&T will shut out and blank both Haiti and Salvador, only Honduras will gave them trouble. Although the Haitian are not predicting any wins, they're coming with confidence, they feel if they can play Spain toes-to-toes and play Italy equally (i.e European champion and Vice-champion), they should be able to handle Caribbean teams and central Caribbean teams at ease as well)..

Here is my prediction:

I think the fact that Honduras is bringing their B teams, this is going to be a very competitive group, Im expecting a lot of  tie games. I think 3 teams will come the group, I think the best third will come out this group as well. About three weeks ago before Haiti played Spain and Italy, most people were predicting 5-8 goal win for Spain & 3-5 goals win for Italy, the outcome were quite different than the predictions..Another one for you, the Jamaican were predicting  CFU final between Antigua and JA, and the other qualifiers were suppose to be Guyana and Grenada, all 4 didn't even make it of their group, let alone wining CFU and qualify for the gold cup..
Well, after all games are played on the field not through words of mouth..

I think there are 3 times as much Haitians in Miami than Trinis...

Off topic: In preparation of the upcoming gold cup, Haiti spending the next 2 weeks in Canada playing ,local teams for a total of 4 games. Haiti totally dominated and beats MLS club Montreal Impact 2-0 in a friendly last night in Canada.

About the Spain-Tahiti game. They always say that the lowest level players and teams are in the CFU, I really doubt it that any CFU team would have lost 10-0 to Spain. If this team is its conference champion, I really wonder what national teams plays in that conference? Haiti that's not even a CFU champion let alone a concacaf champion, played a competitive game against Spain. From what I seen from the Oceanie  champion Tahiti, it looks like any Division I club, in Haiti, T&T, Cuba, Jamaica ....etc... will beat any national team in that so-called Oceanic conference

Haiti 2 Italy 2.

This Haiti B team could have easily beat a full  Italian team

This was a full Italian team with Baloteli, Daniele De Rossi, Riccardo Montolivo, Stephan El Shaarawy and Marchisio ..leading the charge against this Haiti B side

The way this tournament is set up there won't be a CFU champion. The top 2 qualifiers from each group will move on automatically to the CCL tournament. In this case it's Valencia from  Haiti and W Connnection from T&T. These two teams will not face off to determine a champion. Caledonia will play a home and away series against Portmore United of Jamaica to determine the last CFU qualifier.

Football / Re: Cuban Coaches and the CFU
« on: December 25, 2012, 11:46:35 AM »
Cuban take their sports very serious and invest not a lot of money but mostly times and energy in every aspect of their sports. Even though, Russia no longer supported them but it gave them a good foundation for 25 years that they continue to build on.. Cuba is the only team in the Caribbean that play with 100% local players in every tournament. No Caribbean county can make that claim. Most Cuban coaches got their sport training through Russia where sport is considered as a national duty or as a religion or a top priority. Most people couldn't understand for a long time why the best US amateurs  side couldn't beat a Cuban amateur side in sports like Baseball, Boxing and Volleyball even though these sports took birth in the US..I always understood why...

I  begun to respect the Cuban soccer Coaches when Armelio Garcia took over a Haitian team in Trinidad coming from the best of the worse teams(i.e best of the third place finishers with 1 point and -1 goal), to help Haiti to beat Bermuda 3-0, 2-0 in a CFU play-off...and Move on to take care of teams like Martinique, Barbados, Guadeloupe and to win the CFU cup in T&T and accomplished all that ..all in less than 2 weeks on the road in T&T...

Both Martinique and French Guiana are loaded with league II players, CFA players and even some former league I players without club. Most of Guiana players are CFA players. Even the league I clubs in French do not want  to play these CFA teams. In the past, when you think of CFU competition, the top 4 teams that came to mind used to be Jamaica, Trinidad, Cuba and Haiti, well that's not the case any more, a lot of teams started to look elsewhere to upgrade their teams.  The only team in the Caribbean that play with 100% local players is Cuba. Their players are not allowed to play or sign contract elsewhere.

From CFU database web site , it looks like Martinique was sent to group A and DR will replace Martinique in Group B. The returning champion(Jamaica) would have all the second place finishers while A & B will have all the first place finishers.
So it will be Trinidad, DR, Haiti, A&B
