Football / Re: Is kenwyne Jones premiership material??
« on: May 04, 2009, 06:54:24 AM »
::) For anybody to have a chance as a good striker he has to also have good players around him that can give him the chance to shine and have a coach that can bring out the best in the striker. Unfortunately Jones playing for ah S#it team with ah s#it coach so it really hard to tell if he can be a true top striker . He have the pace, size and is great in the air probably one of the best headers around...but with that said he has the first touch "of ah rapist", not a great shot and cannot run at players and take them on. So to truly tell if he can develop into a great striker he needs a better partnership, team and coaching ...because right now he doesn't even look as good as some of the Championship strikers.  :-\

;D Ah just see this list and I'm happy to see the mix of players he call up...but I eh know why Latas like this man Theoblold  ??? The man get him ah spot at Falkirk he ah make it he had trials all ova D place and cah make it...why this man still on the National team pick roster...and I'm surprised Whitley eh even get called to get ah run in the mix as much as I think he may be far from ready fitness and probably no where game ready..ah still ah little surprised....Theobold should be trained to be ah Carib Cheerleader or  waterboy or sumthin... cause I eh care how yuh cut it the man is ah S#ithound and if he take the field in any of the next matches ah have to start questioning the selection process!!!...my 2 cents.

I have to agree with palos ...I think that Hyland is the only one right now is  capable of handling the pressure on senior team football...however saying that.. once this Hex is over make it or doh make it to WC.. we should really be looking at other under 20 players because from what I've heard some of these players have bright futures . ;D

:) Exactly my point Mackie..Glen is a player with lotsa pace.. he runs at players, with a decent shot and he has scored in almost every game he has played for us lately. Then we have Scotland who everybody knows has great vision, a good fist touch, a nice shot and is lighting up the championship ... his biggest problem is he slow like mollases  ;D ...but we have to try a new combination nuthin against Stern and Jones.. but right now for me Stern has to take a seat along with Jones...but Jones has the size and build to hold off defenders and is great in the air so of the two I would have to pick him over Stern because I dont see a Scotland/ Stern or Glenn/Stern working for us ...IMO...Stern dont make great runs into space and he rather fall down looking for calls than fight for the ball.  :-\

I'm not just picking on him.. Jones has been s#!t  lately too......with that said we have other options..aka Roberts, Scotland and Glen or a new combination of players but ..these two up front has offered up nuthin but bad touches, falling down looking for calls, no running at defenders, no holding up of the ball, no running off players into space , no good shots ...should I go on...did u not see the last games?  ???

??? It's amazing to me that at this stage in Stern's career man still talking about what he did years ago??...are u kidding me ...when somebody has lost their form you just call it what it is and find somebody to fill the spot isn't that how it works in football example Ronaldo , Ronaldinho ...even Man U's Ronaldo last year's player of the year.. was off his game this year and get benched...so ah man who ain't exactly lighting up the field needs to be benched pure and simple ...that goes for Jones too!!...Nobody can take away from Stern that he has scored a lot of needed goals for us...but can you really say that at the present time the man is a quality striker...I would say absolutely not but that how his career has been like a yo-yo...he is not hasn't ever been consistant top level striker look at how many clubs he has been too...yuh think if he was as good as some of you all think he is Managers would be ready to trade him as soon as something else comes up....give me ah damn break!!! No disrespect to the man he has had a semi-decent career but he and Jones are in a slump and they are not helping us in this Hex...so they need to be benched..INO!!  ;D

My 2 cents...I agree that Stern probably shouldn't retire now he still have something to add to the team... however I never really thought of him as a great prolific striker except for the years in the MLS. He can come off the bench but he cannot be a starting striker . Nobody can take away the important goals he has scored for us in his career but I'm sure nobody would forget the tons of  easy sitters he has missed in games..Stern will miss bout 10 easy goals and hit that one that we need to survive. However at this stage we need somebody that gonna hit 10 and miss 1...he ain't that person. Also I think it's disgraceful when man does be booing and cussing the man when he on he field, at the end of the day the man really has held his head up high and neva turned his back on Trini even when people ready to string him up.  If he retires I believe it will hurt his career more than the team right now he can't even get off the bench at his club so he needs to show somewhere that he can still be effective.  :-\

::) It's amazing that some people are ready to throw in the towel and bring in players from the under 20 team and focus on the future  ??? ...we are still in the Hex right?...we still have ah chance right?...I believe we give ah 100% effort with the likes of Yorke and Birchall although they haven't had consistant games with their clubs they give us solid efforts at the International level. Yorke is fitter more than half the men on the team and no one could doubt his ability and composure that he brings to the team when he is on the field. So until there is no mathematical way that we can qualify...we ban we belly and do whatever it takes, put the best team on the field and fight till we  faaacking  sweating blood!!!        :rotfl:

Ok nuthin new we looked like a high school team... everybody knows that..!!!...with that said....we had 5 palyers that had solid games Birchall...dont know why he was subbed when Daniel was having a piss poor game..Ince, Lawrence, Carlos (best player on the field), and Hyland looked decent. A. Edwards received a yellow does he miss the next game?...Also Thomas didn't have a great game but wasn't horrible...he is usually pretty solid...if Dog is healthy and seeing that Gray ain't in the mix lately can Thomas play right back? and Dog play in the middle...feedback on this if anyone knows...Also INO the two starting forwards should be Scotland and Glen ( he's scored in almost every game he's played lately for the team, he has pace and runs at players)...Scotland has great vision and holds up the ball well and has a great first touch...any opinions?  ::) ::)

My 2 cents....I think any footballer coming off such a long layoff probably can't be ready for international play in a month. I think that Whitley is by far one of our best options for the midfield but I wouldn't put him on the field for our next match maybe even 2 matches... seeing that he has not played a competitive game in months .Look at Carlos it took him months to almost a year to get back his confidence and form and Jones is yet to  fully find his form. These are two players in the EPL with the best trainers, surgeons and one of the toughest leagues in the world. So anybody with some sense has to see that as good as Whitley can be he would probably hurt the team more than help it at this stage. ::) ...but I wish him the  best and hopefully he can get up to speed quickly and be back in the line up cause as you all know we probably need him.  ;D

::) I have a small problem with a player coming on here and airing dirty laundry for public viewing. I think that you should have addressed the issue on the training ground like a man. No disrespect to you or the impression that you may have gotten from Glen who knows ...you may be right and D man could ah total A$$hole... but there should be a level of respect that should keep it on the ground. At the end of the day most good forwards have a bit of arrogance that they are better than everyone else.. I think that's what drives good forwards to stay on top... don't get me wrong that doh mean that yuh treat people like s#!t...but it sure helps the player's confidence ;)

IMO...Latas should bring Fenwick into the camp. At the end of the day the man does have a consistent winning record and he a solid defensive background. He is tough and disciplined but he can be harsh and abrasive ( which lately he seems to have under control). If you listen to his half time comments in each match he always seems to spot on with what he has observed and what changes should be made. Doh get meh wrong I eh think D man is a the Ultimate coaching choice but based on his previous record and knowledge I can't see how his input could do more harm than good. The team lacks discipline, cohesion and shape...also we have a inconsistent back 4 due to players trying out for positions that they have not ever played before maybe he can help in this area.  ::) ::)

If he feels he needs the help of the Jabloteh coach, we will do that. Latapy must decide that from his own judgement."

Wow...that is a statement that speaks volumes to me  ...does that mean that Jack would actually have Fenwick be involved in the National team...what a change in thinking..huh ;)
