NO UNITY IN RIO

Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott who won T&T’s only medal at the Rio Olympics which ended yesterday, has blasted the lack of team spirit and unity within the T&T camp during the Games.

“We did not do so well as a team this year because honestly, for my part, we were not a team. We did not come together as a unit as in 2012. I was young in 2012 and I was one of the younger ones and I saw the gelling of the team, but here it was not like that. I would not say it was the athletes, I would have to say it was the heads. You need to be able to understand that for a team to be able to perform properly you need to bring them together.”

I suspect had something to do with the Marissa Dick issue, some T&T athletes were harbouring feelings about her selection on the team. Very unfortunate if tis was the case. Olympics come only every four years. A wasted opportunity for them

Tell em Keshorn. On social media I saw positive vibes from only a few (specifically Cleo was a joy to follow). On Instagram only Cleo congratulated Keshorn which seemed odd. Something went down. The other athletes were quite active on social media but didn't have much to say to/about Keshorn when he won bronze

I also want Sunil to post a pic of himself in a turban to confirm that he is living fully up to his new name!  ;D

No disrespect to no one but

This thread is kicks yes! borderline racist.

Are you calling Sam a racist? Isn't Sam a dougla?

No not him, the thread. And by his past threads, I can tell he's just joking. As a fellow dougla that is,  ;D (though I'm not a fan of that term)

I agree with the above post. There needs to be a larger contingent represented by athletes, men and women of all races. This country is too talented to have 1 medal.

Thank god for Keshorn who salvaged something for us. We have regressed and failure should not be commended.
Bolt said after his first games he cried and that the people in Jamaica called him a failure. Now they call him GOAT. We as a people need to stop accepting mediocrity

I suppose is a sign if your keeper looking like he pull together his uniform from stuff he had in the trunk of his car.

;D A serious throw-back to Puskas days. Ah sure he gehhin fined by the goalkeepers union.

He's a throwback indeed. He's been wearing them for sometime now. Used to wear black but after he wore grey one day they went 9-0.
Comfort over style for him. Eccentricity mindset of the goalkeeper. Not an easy position.

Cricket Anyone / Narine reported for suspect action again
« on: April 24, 2015, 12:34:49 PM »
These people really have it out for Narine...

http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-premier-league-2015/content/story/866063.html

Kolkata Knight Riders offspinner Sunil Narine has been reported once again for a suspect action following the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 22 in Visakhapatnam.

An IPL release said that Narine "will still be eligible to bowl in forthcoming IPL matches" and that he "may request a biomechanical analysis of the deliveries in question at the ICC and BCCI accredited testing facility, the Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy and Sports Science Centre in Chennai."

Narine was first reported for a suspect action during the Champions League Twenty20 in October 2014, following Knight Riders' group game against Dolphins. He was allowed to play their next game, the semi-final against Hobart Hurricanes, but all 24 deliveries of his spell were called suspect by the on-field umpires, meaning he was banned from bowling in the final, against Chennai Super Kings.

Consequently, Narine skipped West Indies' tour of India later that month, and informed the WICB about handling the rehabilitation process on his own. Despite not having played any competitive cricket since then, Narine was surprisingly picked by Clive Lloyd's selection panel in West Indies' World Cup squad on January 11 and two weeks later, he clocked his best bowling performance in List-A cricket, picking 6 for 9 to help Trinidad & Tobago to the NAGICO 50-over title.

Narine, though, withdrew from the World Cup squad on January 27, stating that he did not want to rush back, and instead focused on remodeling his action, working with a very small group of coaches including former Pakistan offspinner Saqlain Mushtaq.

In early March, Narine underwent tests at the ICC accredited centre at University of Loughborough and got a positive nod from the experts. However, when the clearance report from the Loughborough centre was submitted for review and clearance from BCCI's sub-committee dealing with corrective actions, the board wrote back to Knight Riders saying Narine would have to clear another round of tests at the Sri Ramachandra University centre if he was to play in the IPL. It meant the BCCI was effectively cancelling the Loughborough report.

While Knight Riders questioned how the board could discredit a report from an ICC-approved centre, the BCCI maintained that they were merely making their own assessment to be adequately convinced with the bowler's action. Despite the protest from his team, Narine eventually took the retest and was granted a clean chit by a panel comprising former India captain S Venkataraghavan, former India fast bowler Javagal Srinath, and ex-international umpire AV Jayaprakash. Upon being cleared, a BCCI press release stated that Narine had "recommended to the BCCI that his name may be removed from the warning list of bowlers with suspect actions".

Since reworking his action, Narine has been extracting substantially lesser turn than before, and picked up only two wickets at an average of 73.50 from five IPL matches this season.

"East Indians" refers to an ethnic group thing. "Africa" refers to a continent, and is less exclusive since it encompasses different races and ethnicities.

Come on. It's Trinidad we talking about. African and Indian are the terms used to refer to the 2 most populous ethnicities

much ado about nothing. Media creating excitement and more division. I getting fed up of this race talk

Easy for you to say, you are east Indian dissent. He who feels it knows.

I'm mixed along with my opinions. And you don' t have to side with a race or be of a certain race to be sick of the race talk. Opportunities like these are used to exaggerate and only add oil to the fire

There is a lot of sh*t here in this article, but my point is that there is a double standard. It's an election year, no leader of a country (cuz we know he winning) should be letting photos like that go public. If Kamla was lambasted, why not the same for Rowley?

Double standards in dis PNM country

Story Created: Feb 22, 2015 at 10:21 PM ECT
Story Updated: Feb 22, 2015 at 10:21 PM ECT
If at Carnival or any other occasion someone were to wine behind the Prime Minister and were she to respond, what would the country have said? What would the PNM and Keith Rowley be saying today?
I can just envisage the headlines, “Disgraceful behaviour by the PM, unbecoming and shameless,” “No wonder we are a lawless society”, “Major letdown to all females in our country”.
The attacks would have been fast and furious and with full force as I said last week. The Inter Religious Organisation would have likely gone on record condemning her indecent behaviour. We might possibly even been hearing from our Archbishop and other church leaders on the moral decline of a country whose leader could bring herself in full glare of the public to “ramajay, gyrate and misbehave” on a child.
We would have read about child abuse, the responsibilities of adults in our society and the need to be our children’s keeper. The uproar might have even forced a premature election.
But this is PNM country. One law for the PNM and another for everybody else.
The PNM hypocrites are coming out of the woodwork to defend the indefensible.
What they are saying essentially is that it is absolutely OK for a 65-year-old man, an aspiring national leader, to wine up in a sexually suggestive manner on a teenage girl who is even too young to vote. “Dat is we culture and anything goes in we culture, so what is all the fuss? Dey too farce and outta place.”
That may be PNM culture but it is not mine nor is it that of the hundreds of thousands of decent, intelligent citizens whose views apparently do not matter.
Could you imagine such unbecoming behaviour from Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper? Or Australia’s Abbott, President Obama or the Queen of England? No wonder Singapore’s Lee Quan Yew said we have a Carnival mentality, which unfortunately has pervaded too many aspects of our lives, including our political lives. But in PNM country there is nothing wrong with a female foreign minister putting her hands, suggestively in my view, around the waist of President Obama who was in our country on an official visit. According to PNM wisdom, Mr Obama must know that this is PNM country.
What would be the hue and cry today if our PM had made unsubstantiated accusations, as occurred in “emailgate”, without the necessary due diligence.
What would the PNM have said and done? Martin Daly, Selwyn Ryan, Roy Mitchell and Winford James would be preaching we are a nation of laws, a country of evidence, and for a democracy to function there has to be minimum standards of evidential practice.
But this is PNM country and Dr Rowley can get up one morning, ketch a vaps, go in our distinguished Parliament and say whatever he wants, or in this case whatever is handed to him, or placed in his mailbox.
Only in PNM country is it right and proper to withhold important, pertinent and relevant information from the President especially if it involves the appointment of someone who many hundreds of thousands of UNC supporters believe to be suspiciously too close to the PNM and Keith Rowley.
Using the same PNM logic, it is now morally right to withhold important information to the Board of Inland Revenue (BIR) regarding our revenue status especially if the BIR did not request the information. Or to withhold information concerning my terminal illness if I am being considered for an important official position in the country; or to withhold information that my degrees are honorary. You think it easy.
If the Partnership Government had no vision, plans and policies in this campaign to take this country forward what would they be saying? We all know from scriptures that “where there is no vision… a people perish”.
But this is PNM country, where calypsonians see absolutely no hypocrisy in every last man, woman and child on their PNM stage pounding the UNC and not a single word, “not a funeral note”, could be heard against Keith Rowley.
And why? Because all our present crop of calypsonians are closet PNM people. Most do not even feel the need to hide their political sympathies because “dis is PNM country”.
I believe it is a moral shame for UNC taxpayers to be funding these blatant, unbalanced and hypocritical attacks on their government in the name of “we culture”.
This election provides a choice between two leaders and two visions for taking us forward. I am eternally grateful that each of us has only one vote.

« on: January 14, 2015, 07:46:10 AM »
This is my present status on FB:

I never thought of Clive Lloyd as a public Tun Tun hole.
But this man sends a depleted side to the WC saying they building for the future. Instead of waiting until after the WC and sending the strongest possible side.

Worse yet, he says they need young allrounders to have a chance.
 Pollard is 27.
Andre Russel is 26 has scored three half centuries in ODIs.
Pollard has scored three centuries and seven half centuries.
Lloyd admits Russel has underperformed but surprisingly he is retained at the expense of two of the best players in the World.

Why focus on allrounders?
Ramdhin is 30. No young keepers?

Benn is 33. No young spinners?

Simmons is 30. No young openers?

They have obviously singled out these fellas.
Worse yet they Cacahole says nobody influenced him.

So is Lloyd and only Loyd to blame.
I would love if if after the WC EVERY TT player get sick during an ODI for the rest of the year: Simmons, Bravo, Bravo, Pollard, Ramdhin, Rampaul, Narine, Badree and Gabriel.

TT alone could cut the WI ass.

I now understand why CL nickname is "the big Cyat."

I think this government needs to demit office asap so we can stop the corrupt wastage of T&T taxpayers' money which is being siphoned off into government ministers and their friends’ pockets in kick-backs.

The reason why these unnecessary $50 notes are being introduced is because some government ministers needed to be paid, its all about over-inflated cost of doing things and getting your kick-backs to fill your pockets.

Why is it that the government hasn't declared the cost of printing these ugly curry coloured $50 notes and exactly how many have been unnecessarily printed? Ask yuhself that!

This government has done absolutely nothing since being in power to bring money into the country's treasury but has done everything possible to empty it as soon as possible while most of their 51 ministers have become millionaires overnight.

PS: I wish I could wave a magic wand and exile this whole current T&T government over to a jail in Guyana but we need the billions in wasted/stolen T&T taxpayers' money back first.

The notes being introduced are polymer bills and have been adopted internationally by countries such as Canada, Australia and New Zealand and are much more difficult to counterfeit. Eventually all bills will be polymer.

Right now Warriors looking good. Steve Kerr is a lucky rookie coach. Mark Jackson built that team for him.

Lucky to have a good team like that to coach, but Mark Jackson was too buddy buddy and getting knocked out last year in the first round of the playoffs got him canned.

Kerr has the Championship experience and always looked like he would be a good coach based on his in game analyses. Let's see how beneficial it will be come April.

Rampaul out, Narine back in World Cup 30

ST JOHN’S—West Indies fast bowler Ravi Rampaul will not be playing in the prestigious World Cup set for Australia and New Zealand next year.

The T&T cricketer has been left out of a 30-man provisional squad released by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) on Monday.

Rampaul played two ODIs during the tour of India in October before the series was cancelled because of a dispute between the West Indies players, the WICB and West Indies Players Association (WIPA).

The squad also included six uncapped players: left-arm seamer Kenroy Peters, legspinner Imran Khan, offspinner Ashley Nurse, 19-year-old fast bowler Marquino Mindley, left-hand opener Evin Lewis and allrounder Jonathan Carter.

Khan has been enjoying a fine season in the Regional four-day competition confusing batsmen with his legspinners. He is among the top allrounders in the tournament so far and earned the selection ahead of the former West Indies spinner Devendra Bishoo of Guyana.

His countryman Evin Lewis is a hard hitting opener, whose attacking style has caught the eyes in both shortened version of the game. Peters has been having an outstanding season despite his team not doing well in the tournament while the Barbadian Carter is a hard hitting middle order batsman and allrounder Nurse has been outstanding in the limited overs version of the game.

Mindley has surprised many with his pace.

Returning to the squad are Darren Bravo who missed out on the current tour of South Africa because of personal reasons and mystery spinner Sunil Narine, who has been remedial work on his bowling action.
