on a local point of view

I think one of the glaring differences in our football is the body language during a game, much different to lets say a brazil, germany, italy, england, argentina or france these teams exude a certain confidence beyond the norm.It could be even deemed as pure arrogance saying do you know who I'm or is war bring yuh a game.....

We can't act like those teams you mentioned for obvious reasons but in Concacaf; US, Mexico and Costa Rica exude confidence.  I'd say so should T&T, at least in the Caribbean we are definitely at the top; I haven't seen games recently against other Caribbean teams, but do we act all arrogant?  We the only Caribbean team in the Hex, in the U-20 World cup, and most recently in the last world cup...we have a great track record...PERIOD.
Footballers on the field is like animals in the wild, yuh enemy can smell fear...they need to bring out the animal instinct

honestly? I would say:
Wild
No organization
Undisciplined
individual based.

The style that took us to the world cup was not that.  Hence it is the coach that will dictate our style until local coaches make it a point to play with organization; but he must not tolerate the wildness/lack of discipline.
I'd say we should stick with the euro brand...

The Under 20's however play nice and cohesive.

Chicago and Nashville had one constant no real leadership on d field, full stop, dennis didn't take charge or couldn't, ah mean, how come dwight an latas have to be around for ting to happen, dey have to find a leader, somebody to rally d team, an' in both games it din have none ah dat....... it was as plain as day

agreed, but who is the man for the job?
Ince is a boss, but he does just yell...let him just deal with the back 4...
Carlos should be the man up front and the whole field.  A player in the midfield with credentials will make the best leader, that's why dwight and latas good.  Carlos should take on this role...latas pass the torch..yuh cyah do it all

I'll have to put them up over the weekend. I so tired cause from since yesterday morning when i wake up at 7am to now, I must be sleep 3 hours. I have to be out early tomorrow by 6:30 so I really must drag my tired self to bed.

Tallman, when I was in the airport, guess who I see? Bradley. An I was wearing my little trini pin on my coat. Went up to the man an said "good game chief" He said thanks, shake my hand. Only after I get back to my seat, I say to myself, shoulda take a picture.   :-[

I guess this kinda thing is what Maturana meant when he say we were applauding when Honduras score...( i doh see nothing wrong with it, I just saying that the man had a point)

same thing I was thinking.

They have the fundamentals and fitness...  tighter organization... more pride and motivation
...

So what it is we better at exactly? Beats?

Our style is better, not the team, not the organization.  A strong, fit, organized Warriors team could beat the Americans...man for man. When they were the laughing stock of the world yuh feel they still didn't believe they were better?  Yuh can't walk like a dog with he tail between he legs.  We call warriors for a reason.

We called Warriors because nobody was goin Germany if we was called pu$$ies.  :rotfl:
But seriously, a strong, fit, organized Warriors team is a dream, an illusion. A nice one doh, will be nice to have. We sure coulda use dat last night in Nashville.

I agree it's an illusion at this point.  Time to stop the excuses from TTFF, Warner, the players...I getting real real tired of dey nonsense.....time for them to take accountability for their actions thus far....
maybe ah still dreaming :-\

Interesting post; maybe it's ignorance or foolish pride but the American style of football is not better than ours.  They have the fundamentals and fitness yes, but we don't.  But more importantly, they have a tighter organization with a h*ll of a lot more pride and motivation than us.  US soccer is a big thing 24-7, not juss come WCQ time.  These American players believe they are up there with the best, whether or not they are is another question but they believe it and you see that on the field.  I can't stand the Americans' arrogance but even more I can't stand T&T's lacklustre effort the past year or so.

I feel that is why the players quickly walked off the field
(but they should have acknowledged the supporters)

They mighta feel some of the supporters were the same ones criticizing them on this forum and didn't want to look them in the eye.  And yuh could blame them?  It was a pathetic showing on their part and if I was in the stands I'd show meh love but I'd also give them a cuss or 2.

Ching and Altidore both crap in my eyes.  Any team in concacaf coulda tear apart we wings and score a few goals yesterday.  They only good for MLS, cause come WC (cuz yuh know they making it) they go get a rell cut tail.  Dey woman's team have more talent.  (no disrespect to the ladies)  ;)

wherever he go he create a sinking ship, what he go do wit a ship already sinking?

I with you Socapro.
Can't stand him, you ever take a look at his face during a match?
cold, grinning, could give a damn.  This man have less passion than any other coach I ever seen for TnT.  I don't want to see this as another wasted WCQ campaign and as long as he calling the shots from the sidelines it will be

please sack mats, you see he had a grin walking to the locker room after the 1st half? evil grin...evil man.  Not looking out for the team, rather his fat pocket.  He could care less.  Latapy has less experience but I believe he cares more.  i like scotland and jones starting but they are the same man in term of striker ability, lack of ability to create.  Where is Glen?

                         Clayton Ince

Julius James,  Dennis Lawrence, Keyeno Thomas

Carlos Edwards, Chris Birchall, Yorke,  Keon Daniel
                         Roberts

          Kenwyne Jones      Cornell Glen

*Latapy/Hyland could come on if needbe, as well if KJ is playing the same bring on Scottie
**Samuel for Daniel might be worth a try

dais why de man name Controversial.

but I could see a game against Honduras played in Toronto where T&T fans would come and show some rell support and make serious noise..the Honduras fans would get drowned out before the game start.  Yuh cyah play US in Canada for obvious reasons...but against some of the Central American countries...would be nice to see us host up them up here...

some perspective on the population....yes it makes me very proud to see our accomplishments when placed next to the other nations.

As for Babalawo, what happen to you man?
We all represent the same nation!
We all support the same team!
We all give our hard earned dollars to watch the games and support them!
We all just trying to make our nation successful...NOT divided...help in this cause.
So as a Fellow Trinbagonian of many backgrounds, I ask you Babalawo, VB, etc don't play bad mind to this race nonsense...because you are creating unnecessary hate and distance between fans of the SAME team, SAME nation.
When push come to shove, I would hope that regardless of race, as long as we representing red, black and white we have each other's back cuz we fighting the same battle jed, no need to go to war. Bless.

leaves a lot to be desired if our best games were draws....
I agree with next game...been waiting for him to prove us wrong

Funny I could stake all the money I will earn in my lifetime that if the team look good allyuh go credit Latas fuh de selection (that most either bitchin about or cussin Pacho for) and Yorke's presence with uplifting and empowering them.

And ofcourse if they loose, well we know is Mats fault fuh sure wit he Corbeaux brand ent?!

lol.  you're probably right..a lose-lose situation for Mats...however, if the players start speaking highly of his coaching ability, and we see the difference, we will all gladly sing a different tune.
as for Latas, he ain't no saviour until he saves us by making us qualify instead of a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth.

Football / Re: Latapy thrills Mayaro with ‘Magic’

They complained to Latapy about a feeling of being left out of the national program and pointed to the fact that more recently they had produced Ryan Stewart and Leston Paul, two of the more promising players in the country.

Latapy assured the gathering that he would address their concerns since his main purpose for being in T&T is to help find and develop this country’s talented players. And encouraged the young players to dedicate themselves to the game and make themselves ready for when opportunities become available.

I must give it to Latas...he's giving the local players a feeling of pride and motivation to succeed.  As well showing our nation that our greatest player to ever lace up boots is giving back to his people.  I hope he doesn't screw this up, or TTFF screw it up for him.
He talks a nice talk and has the right idea but actions will always speak louder than words.  Run this program right from the get go!

KJ has let us down lately....but hopefully he surprises us...I know the man is capable of being a premier league threat.  Let's hope he lives up to it. He has the necessary tools.  The only thing I believe he lacks is self confidence.  He need to stop being so humble and quiet.  Get in the action...Get mad...Get vocal..Get goals.  Talent can only carry him so far, now it's up to him to find the drive and motivation to make him succeed.
...Then again this talk about Kenwyne night just be a media hype so defenders lay off him for a while...
get your scoring touch back jed...you could start on the 28th  :D

Football / Re: AIG & Manchester United
« on: March 18, 2009, 02:12:13 PM »
They shouldn't sever the ties with AIG.  AIG is the scapegoat, Obama has stated blame on AIG, and society will blindly follow.  AIG should pay the bonuses, how else will they draw the proper talent to get them out of the situation without proper compensation?
Anyway I am upset with AIG as much as the next but Man U should support the sponsor that gave the $$$ or else it shows poor business relations from their perspective.

AIG is not a scapegoat.  Their contribution to the financial crisis is significant and everyone recoginzes this.  They aren't being blamed for anything they didn't do.  Obama is not leading "blind peole" anyhwere...if anything it's the opposite.  One can more likely argue that Obama's latest reaction to AIG's bonuses is in response to fury over the fact that tax payers' dollars are being used to fund bonuses of traders who lost billions of dollars....

The fact that the bonuses are contracted retention bonuses as opposed to discretionary performance based compensation makes the issue more complicated.

Not sure if the mods shoulda merged this thread....different issues being discussed.

Obama's administration is misleading about the so called "evils of bankers and their greed."  Pursuing every legal avenue as Obama puts it makes no sense.  AIG employees ARE entitled to their bonuses however the anti-corporate mentality being thrown around makes them the scapegoat.  blame the private sector, blame the compensation, blame the bankers...easy way out.  But is that the true reason for the global financial crisis?  Hardly.  Corporate behaviour plays a part but the US government is to blame...

Football / Re: AIG & Manchester United
« on: March 18, 2009, 11:16:54 AM »
Ok, so over the past week - there has been worldwide outrage over the annoucement that AIG will be paying massive bonuses to execs, whom by an overwhelming consensus are not deserving due to AIG's performance.

Maybe we need to consider that these contracts to guarantee the bonuses were signed prior to AIG receiving TARP money - since Manchester United and AIG agreed on a shirt sponsorship program prior to AIG's downward spiral.

So should Manchester United drop AIG as a sponsor due to all the bad press and imminent implosion?
It might seem like the ethical or moral thing to do, to side with public sentiment and outcry of such vicious and wasteful spending.

Does it serve the best interest of Manchester United and football as a whole to separate themselves from those who promulgate the ills of society?

Man U is a team many many people love to hate - and the attention it draws to the AIG situation will be an issue that is more polarizing to some with financial interest. From a marketing standpoint, ie. selling jerseys - which neutral or supporter would possibly want to purchase a shirt with the name "AIG" emblazoned across the front of it?

I love the Aston Villa strip, but I will not buy it because of it's close resemblance to that leftist group "ACORN".
To me, it's almost as stupid as wearing a Syracuse Orange shirt in the middle of Ireland.
