Football / Re: How much say does Latas have.
« on: February 12, 2009, 11:19:31 AM »
dwight should not have let stern take the penalty...
this just shows even though these guys have experience, at times they don't show it...
it's like it's a sweat and yuh padnah didn't score so u try time and time again to set him up to score at the cost of the team...
up 2-0, 4-0, 6-0, no matter, keep playing the game cuz this just shows anything can happen in football.

latas is a next story, he is a qualified team leader, not yet a qualified coach..he will be but he is still new at this...i say he is a great team leader and shoulda put himself in the game when he saw things were getting out of hand and calm the play on the field cuz he couldn't do it from the bench

mats ain't to blame for this one entirely, yes birchall should not have come off, yes glenn was not needed
but it comes down to the men on the field.  they may not have been as fit as they should have been, but they are professionals and should know they have to find it in them to get the job done!

tnt demonstrated a few times that they have skills and could play real nice, but at the end of the day it's about playing consistently....if we have a weak left defensive side, the mids need to step up and if they not doing the job, mats and latas should take care of it.

if we play well for 90 mins i don't believe that another concacaf team could beat us...period.  but how do we ensure it is done for 90 mins?

God Bless sweet TNT and may their efforts pay off.  May they all be safe and play well
May all the badmind people who try and strike blight on our nation lose their negativity, enjoy the game and become believers in our blessed Warriors.
Amen

This quote is attributed to Noah Davis on today's Yahoo! Sports page:

Quote
The United States versus Mexico means much more than what happens on the confines of the soccer field. Each match continues the hundreds of years of history between the two interlocked countries. It’s a rivalry of both soccer and socio-economics. Quite simply, it’s the best the world has.

He is saying that the Mex-USA rivallry is the GREATEST in WORLD FOOTBALL.

hahaha .... how delusional is this madman!?

not that delusional considering he knows he's just lying through his teeth to try and make more people in the United States become interested in football.  For his sake, I hope he doesn't really believe that rivalry is the greatest.

Football / Re: Striker Selection
« on: January 28, 2009, 03:17:36 PM »
Base on the system we play, I see KJ and CG starting, IF we go with 2 strikers...Scotty is a must on the team, coming on for Glenn in the 2nd half  :beermug:

Big Up!

I second this.
the days of T&T holding the ball and playing slow was never really in our blood.  Scotty is on fire lately but against El Salvador we need to attack, and attack fast.  We have the strike power to do so, and who better than Glenn and Jones to have El Salvador always having to run back and play catch up?  Especially on the counter I can see those 2 do some serious damage.  And bringing Scotland later in the game might not be such a bad idea...

good topic...
we definitely have some power and selection up front.
If these men are not scoring and creating scoring opportunities, I hope to see others get playing time and not wait for the 84th min to switch things up.
Strikers here have to fight for thier spot, so fight with goals and put some serious fyah in de back of all of our opponents' nets.

scouts, press, everyone else
we speak freely on our forum, we speak freely on our players and our nation for one reason...we care.  It may be hard, cold, and sometimes bitter but we only expect the best from our warriors.

I have been part of this website years ago when the old forum was up, and once the new forum came into play I only recently re-signed up however I have been reading consistently in the interim.  We are a tough group, and all the scouts, players, and everyone else should know it's all love.

Although it would've been interesting to see Arturo suit up vs. T&T, he's just another player that the US capped before some other country could (to possibly never be called up again).

fifa needs to change their rules, like maybe only active international players should be capped by a country, but if they haven't been using him for say a 1-2 yr period, he should be free to play for a country he is qualified to play for! IMHO

agreed...good team there,

I don't know when the underachieving mindset will stop from the Caribbean...hopefully we're on the incline (WCQ, Latapy)...and Ja seems to be on the right track too.

probably gonna get ostracized for this but rather than being happy Carlos may start Saturday, everyone start going off on some next thing....may not be the best crosser but he's still a good winger.

Big Magician/London is right, only time will tell, but that seems hardly the case they can be as strong as the older class.  Also the Mids in that time for Man U were stronger than the current ones IMHO.

we could use these guys as they definitely add some more power to the team, however fifa needs to change their rule..i agree once u play for one country you are committed to them but if it's under 21, etc, there should be some kinda loophole.  england prob. put them in their team back in the day to avoid them playing for other countries...lol

So you think the award is a Joke only because Ato and Latapy not on the list, or is it that you think there are too many Jamaicans on it? Whitmore is there only because he has done something that not many people in football manage to accomplish: 2 goals in 90 minuts at the world cup. Latapy good yes...but I believe its all about accomplishment at the highest level. + the thing is organized by a Jakan, so what you expect :)
[/quote]

no scene on too many Jamaicans, they have lots to be proud of, I'm just saying there are other athletes that deserve a mention...and because it's organized by a Jakan doesn't mean it has to be biased...jus saying

and accomplishment at the highest level, yes latapy didn't score in a wc, but along with his his accomplishments at club level, he helped the smallest nation EVER qualify for the WC, and represented well.
Ato's accomplishments weren't at the highest level?
Just bigging up my nation...that's all

earle good but no latapy...esp considering his achievements, nominated for FIFA World player of the year

as for Ato he deserves it, if quarrie is there so should he...same olympic medal count.

usain is still too young, let him get through his career before he get his accolades, but he deserves a spot in the future...ato has done tons for the Caribbean in track and always bigging up his people.

this awards is a joke, i agree.  If you had to put two in each category winning who would u choose?

"Jamaican-born Al Hamilton, who resides in England and is the architect behind this initiative"

wonder why 50% dominated by the Ja's...

Ato def. deserves a spot there, not to mention Latapy should get some respect too...
