Dear Forumites,

I came across the much touted, but highly secretive Socawarriors wristbands.

They are available in a sports store in Ellerslie Plaza maraval, called Sport Outlet.

The fella in the Store did a very good job of trying to sell me one and I will send one for my family overseas.

He is of the firm Belief we will make Germany and he had a idea of the team and the national set-up.

The band is EXACTLY like the Lance armstrong LIVE STRONG band..........i.e it looks like a big rubberband on yuh hand.

However it is Red/pink in colour. They all have Socawarriors on it but each band had a different message. Some said Germany 2006, another said, Believe while another had the main slogan the RED DAWN RISING.

The Display box is red, with an abstract goalkeeper on it, a goal, net etc. But the big slogan on the Box is the Red Dawn Rising..........I kinda like that  the marketing people doing they wuk.

Finally the fella was selling them at 25$ TT for one. They come individually sealed in a plastic envelope/pouch and he say he could handle me a lil discount if I buy a grap.

So now alyuh know!

I was tempted to ask him  what % of the sale going to the players and the TTFF, but I go hold stick him with that next time I pass tru.

Thanks Touches, You on the ball! I'll pick up one tomorrow.

Football / Re: who would be better as a player for us right now
« on: April 07, 2005, 05:49:15 AM »
I would say not to focus on either of them. Latapy has said that he will be more useful as a coach so let him coach.

WELL SAID!!! Latapy does NOT want to play, how many times does HE have to say so!!!Nakhid can be useful coming OFF the bench, in centre mid, possibly replacing Eve , who CANNOT last 90 mins!I don't see Nakhid starting. Besides in an interview after, Nakhid himself said he had "..to think about the offer", hinting he had his heart on maintaining the dual Asst Coach/player role...although he soon added "...but then it's hard to say NO to Leo Beenhakker".

I believe Seaton and Dwarika will also play for Beenhaker, they BOTH played under Simoes ...not sure if that's a reflection of Bertille's ALLEGED "Anti-Ras"/strict disclipline stance or that he (Simoes) was able to gain their trust/respect. Whichever, they came out to practice sessions...as they did with Porterfield..although Seaton didn't make the final team back then.

"Hardest" is another story...my heart bleeds for this young man, after seeing the one on one interview on Gayelle. Sadly, unless/until he is taken out of the environment he lives in, we may NEVER see him become the player he promises to be and achieve the potential he has! He is playing with Caledonia The Fire now, and Jamal will certainly do his best to support and nurture him, but in the end it's up to Jemmott to KEEP his act together...pray for him that he does THIS time!

I'm disappointed to see Lyndon Andrews recalled, ESPECIALLY after his Digicell cameo. Kevon carter, Keon Daniel, Sherman Ants Phillips or Hayden Tinto would have been MUCH better, YOUNGER, choices!!!

No more to say ;D

Thanks much! I'll definitely take a look.

i was just wondering what criteria benhakker go be using to determine a t&t team.....

is the ttff goin to give him a list of players who they like or is he goin to watch a jabloteh w game in d stadium an pic for himself?

dutch like youngsters think ricky shakes have a chance?

also angus eve dwight yorke stern john d ones who is BSC boys them could step up their game for a coach who have no favorites???

PRESSURE!!

Good point(s)/questions. I too would like to see an emphasis on YOUTH! While germany 2006 is our IMMEDIATE goal, we must ALSO use it as a stepping stone for 2010! Therefore the nucleus of THIS team must be young enough to be a part of our next campaign. So shakes, boucaud,Jones,Glen,Sealy,Spann,,Norville are ALL players who should ALWAYS be IN the squad, so come 2008 they have WCQ campaign experience! Add to that mix training locally, Attiba Charles,Baptiste,Celestine,JM Williams, and our 2010 attempt is being assisted simultaneously as germany 2006. It takes GUTS and forsight to implement though.

Depending on the results in the three vital qualifiers in June and July, I will make a decision then. If it is a return to Falkirk, I will be delighted because I love the Club and have made many new friends here.”

Somebody need to tell latas we only have TWO Qualifiers in June and NONE in July! We play in the Gold Cup in July. After that we face USA in Connecticut, so realistically he CANNOT give Falkirk a decision until SEPTEMBER because we will still be in with a MATHEMATICAL chance up to then.

In related news, I was informed by LP that Ron Atkinson was NEVER appointed and stripped of the job. There was a short-list drawn up by the Technical Committee, of which Atkinson was one,and the pros and cons of each candidate were discussed by the Committee AND players' input was sought. The Tech Committe THEN selected the candidate who they felt were the BEST and went with Beenhakker.

I hope the first thing the TTFF do is give the new coach tapes of our last 3 games and those of our opposition, ESPECIALLY the Panama/Mexico game, so he could get to work ASAP! Big names will not give us victory against Panama, proper planning, hard work and execution will. After all, Panama are the ONLY side to take points off Mexico, something the US and CR failed to do!!! We CAN beat them, BUT our preparation will be key!

Football / Match Report
« on: March 30, 2005, 07:42:27 PM »
Well fellas I just get back home, so here it is:-

THE BEST GAME BY THE (SOCA) WARRIORS IN THE ENTIRE CAMPAIGN SO FAR!

From the get-go it was clear that T&T meant business. EVERYbody was hustling. AND marking tight! It was end to end action with T&T dominating possesion and playing the ball on the ground! Spann was a FORCE ib=n the middle, winning balls and distributing well. Dennis Lawrence had the BEST game I've seen him play in YEARS! He marshalled the defence and played a la "Dawg"! He won the air balls, distributed it to Dwight and/or Spann to re-launch the attack. Speaking of dwight, my MAN OF THE MATCH! The man led from in front, passing, shielding, creating space for others, tackling, hustling, LEADING! By the way prior to this I was NOT a Dwight fan, I AM NOW, because this was BY FAR the BEST game he has EVER played for T&T in the last 10 years, and possibly ever. Ince was also a savior pulling off Top notch saves including a couple one on ones. but it was a point blank save when the WHOLE stadium thought the CR striker was SURE to score, when Clayton came up BIG!!! David Attiba Charles was another man making a claim for a starting place on the team! Big, strong and FAST, he handled the right-side well.

team played 3-5-2

------------------Ince-----------------------
------DACharles--Lawrence-----APierre---
Edwards-----------------------------Rojas
---------Spann---Yorke----Eve-----
-------------John--------Glen----------------

First half while  we dominated, we created few clear-cut chances and failed to convert the few we did create.

Second 1/2 some men CLEARLY ran out of steam! Spann got injured and had to be subbed. He was replaced by Fitzpatrick. Then Edwards was subbed for SAm while Glen got injured and made way for Nigel pierre.

Notable moments, another one on one sitch dealt with by ince, who came off his line and won the ball. edwards shot that just deflected wide. CR free-kick that did have the whole stadium holing it's breath as a CR player outran the entire T&T team , only to be beaten to the ball by Ince.

T&T's ONE major fault lay in NOT taking enough shots on goal! Otherwise we DID create chances, but too many touches and passing off the shooting responsibility.

Player ratings-

Ince - 8.5 Saved our @$$ several times to keep us in the game!
A pierre - 7.5 Too much air ball, but heart & soul player!
DA Charles - 8 What a full debut! One or two bad touches (speaking of whom, we agree to disagree on THISone eh, LOL) but added some much needed SPEED to the back-line
Rojas - 6.5 Little added offensively, overdribbled, BUT played an "Average" game defensively and would make my bench
Lawrence 8.5 BEST game EVER! De man Manners Wanchope when he came on! See comments above!
Spann 8 - WHY hasn't he been playing???The man is our Ideal def Mid!!!
Yorke -9.5 BEST GAME EVER FOR T&T. DID EVERYTHING (but score)..see above
Edwards 7.5 Opposite of rojas, Highly effective attacking but lacking defensively... probably "tackle-shy" since the long injury lay off. Decent wing play, but lacks match-finess, so faded in 2nd 1/2
Eve 7.5 Did his best and made some enterprising runs, applied presssure until he too obviously ran out of steam around 68th min
John- 6 NOT in form, needs to bench, should have been subbed against USA,Guatemala AND again today. Class is permanent, form is temporary though, he WILL rise again!
Glen - 7.5 Always looked dangerous! Got injjured and ran out of steam, BUT coming off injury the way he did, I think he gave his best!

Fitzpatrick- 7 Will always make my team, along with Spann in the middle, energy fuh so, just needs to work on his SPEED and passing

Sam - 7.5 Speed and dribbling made some good runs, has great close control, and created space for shots... just didn't take them.
but still would have prefferd Sealy, whos a better finisher

NPierre - 7.5 Sam withOUT the speed, but deserves squad place, worked hard while he was on

I guess by now you must realise the xcitement in my report, and I can't help it, because the TEAM played HARD, worked Hard and really,GIVE IT THEIR ALL!

Bertille WILL be replaced though, and I think it's best! After today's performance, i have hope that we CAN and WILL qualify...See all US-based in connecticut in August, PATRIOT comin!!!

Time for Germany!!!

Football / Re: allyuh bad talking Stern John,,but..
« on: March 26, 2005, 05:02:30 AM »
Boss show me which national team does drop dey proven top striker?  Most most good managers does let dey top scorers play deyself into form

I'm not sure who was "bad talking" Stern here, but based on my having seen all of our qualifying games so far (live or on tv), Stern's work-rate HAS been poor. I would like him to LIFT his game, and MAYBE one way of doing that is for him to realise that he has to EARN his spot on the team just like every other striker, and not feel that because of his tremendous scoring record (ie the PAST), he has an "AUTOMATIC" pic.

To answer your question. In the 1994 World Cup,Arrigo Sacchi took off Roberto Baggio then FIFA world player of the year, when Italy's keeper was red-carded in something like the 5th/10th minute of the game. It took guts to do that, but tactically it was wise. On the contrary, Real madrid have been treating Raul like a God! Coach after coach continue to start him (despite other options) and Real have paid the price... NO trophies in the last 2 CONSEQUETIVE years, with Raul clearly OUT of form for the past 2 seasons.

I am no coach, but in my humble opinion, you should always play the men who are in scoring form , provided they are tactically correct based on WHO you are playing. NO player should ever be BIGGER than the TEAM.

Having said all of that i voted for the Stern/Jones combo to START today, because I believe based on the opposition, they will deliver the goals. A hungry Sam and/or Nigel Pierre in the 2nd half IF needed are good back-ups. Sealy who is in form right now should SERIOUSLY be considered for the NEXT game against Costa Rica.

Football / NO PATRIOTISM
« on: March 25, 2005, 04:09:45 PM »
Fellas, yesterday I decided to pass by the TTFF's offices inasmuch as I hadn't heard any news about live coverage of the game on local tv/radio. (Yours truly was planning on making the trip, but my US visa expired this month and since you have to pass through Miami to get to guatemala, i have to miss this one). Anyway, as fate would have it the whole office was having an Easter "get together". Mr Warner was there so I took the opportunity to ask HIM about local coverage. He said that HE (Jack) offered to meet HALF the cost of bringing the game, but was rebuffed by the local TV stations who claimed "NO ONE INTERESTED IN THIS GAME". I expressed by outrage, to which he he replied "I share your sentiments and  I will be attending the game, but rest assured, I will be saying more about this matter, upon my return".

Thank God for the internet!!! Will be on tomoorow night from 8:00 to check out the updates.

Also to all Trini-based, who going to the game, vibes me nuh. I know Palos inside already, what about Andre samuel, Cowen et al ?

So you see the attitude of Channel 4, TV-6 and the rest of them? back in 1989 we had ONE TV station but saw ALL of the strike Squad's away games. Is 2005, we have Channel 4, TV-6, Gayelle, IE TV and Synergy, FIVE local stations, and NOT ONE OF THEM F!@#$'s willing to meet 1/2 the cost of bringing the game! But leh we win nah.. ALL ah them go be asking jack and the TTFF for FREE MEDIA pass. These people have NO PATRIOTISM AT ALL BOY!!!

« on: March 22, 2005, 04:19:53 AM »
I just posted below how Rojas played for his club on Friday and set up a goal.  You sure he's doubtful?  Did he pick up an injury in that game?

No, the info I read in LAST week's local newspapers claimed that BOTH Rojas and Glen would undergo fitness tests this week. I guess it's just Glen who's doubtful now.

Football / Lawrence recalled
« on: March 21, 2005, 07:30:04 PM »
Heard on the TV-6 news that Dennis Lawrence has been recalled to the Senior team as a replacement for Marvin Andrews who it seems is now OUT of the squad for the games against Guatemala and Costa Rica.

BIG Loss there, ESPECIALLY with Cox apparently nursing a hamstring injury, and Rojas doubtful, that leaves a pretty THIN defensive unit...AND STILL NO AVERY JOHN??? The locals like Anton Pierre, Thomas and Attiba Charles will have to step up, and Sancho will have to play the game of his life!!!

Football / USA 1 - Honduras 0
« on: March 19, 2005, 05:09:01 PM »
Just saw a bit of this game. Eddie Johnson scored the goal late in the 1st half.USA played without their European players and STILL dominated. However the game WAS played in Alberquque (excuse spelling?), USA. giving them HOME advantage. From what little i saw, the USA will be VERY difficult to beat at home! They played a 3-5-2.

For T&T's away game to the US we would need to play a VERY tight defence of 4 players with 2 def midfielders to stifle the US's 5 man mid. Glen's SPEED will be critical! Counter-attack will be our best option...Honduras looked dangerous when they employed this tactic, but they lacked the firepower upfront/US defence close-marked VERY efficiently.

Patriot out

P.S. Hope T&T technical staff taped the game with matches against both teams coming up in upcoming months

One positive I see is that Sealy IF selected for the Guatemala And MOREso the costa Rica games would have recent experience playing against the opposition defenders he's likely to play against on March 26th and March 30th. Hope the Technical staff tap into that info. Sealy should be picked though, ESPECIALLY if Glen doesn't recover in time!
