Pro I will give pacho his pips if he delivers.

I am also hopeful his play dead to ketch corbeaux alive brand will get results.

However we play like we dont have a clue, and give our opponents too much time on the ball. It is as if we playing dont cross the half and defend for dear life and hope the lone attack we launch will score, kinda football. Is one thing to play defensive...but you must defend compact in a zone, close down the proper passing lanes, pressure the ball smart and dont panic when you do eventually regain possession. With us is rush een and hope to connect, stand up and point and boom kick up the road.

If the TT team could only look like Joe Public. I would be so happy.

Ti sit next to me in the oval...watch the guadeloupe match, admit theobold pull stones, watch spann play la la, watch the collective garbage....and still find I negative when all I do was describe what was on the field.

I set the bar real low for this TT team and many times they do not meet or exceed my expectations. In fact I am often surprised by our lower ranked opponents who play better more constructive and more entertaining ball....But hey...we winning so everything is all right.

I tell alyuh I on entertainment yuh know.

Alyuh doh take me orn....there will be weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth...and those without teeth shall gnash their gums.

But doh study it....its all entertainment.

...spot on.

Touches yuh hit the nail on the head with that one ...that is exactly the brand T&T playing under Pacho! .... I en hatin (too much) once they getting results...but it is definitely difficult to watch.  That is why JP performance vs. Revs was so nice to see...

How could a Trinidad and Tobago team missing:

Ince, Jack, Sancho, Birchall, Whitley, Hyland, Samuel, Jones, Roberts and STERN be almost full strength?

I assumed Birchall injured..but

- Roberts is not a surety as one of our top 4 strikers IMHO. He get a contract through Wim and he automatically jump over everybody else who come out of University and in the Pro league without doing anything spectacular that set him apart from the rest.

WIM How did WIM  do that? roberts is with a mlf sports and has an agent ..  AND he is wayyyy better than toussaint

Amen Bredda!!! .....

They call 22 men so they could play full field scrimmage.

But No Whitley...he must be injured bad.

No Stern...they playing up in they arse.

Watch the line up

4-4-2

                             Phillips

Cyd       James/Thomas    Lawrence    Avery

Edwards    Yorke   Theobold/Leon    Daniel

                Scotland     Glenn

If we play 4-5-1  they will take out Scotland and put both Theobold and Leon.

I think unless James real impress in training the coach will not lose faith in Hislop or Thomas to partner Lawrence. They have an understanding is plenty games they play together. But I would give james the chance.

Stern woulda make a difference on this side...I woulda rest Toussaint for him.

Nah cyar start on his debut.  But will be a starter by the time the Hex start!

REST ALONE??!!

Man dis fella is flat out not good enough to play international football!! - Based on the one time I have seen him play  ;D ;D

but shucks man...touches is touches ...if yuh cyar trap yuh cyar trap...if yuh lazy  ... yuh lazy..(good ting Stern does at least score)....

Toussaint cannot be the best local based striker in Trinidad!

From watching the JP/Revs game the other night ...I find Saunders could even get a call up..hard nosed..tackles well ...keeps the game simple.

PACHO - please stop picking Toussaint Please!!! ah beg yuh!!!

Football / Re: USA midfielder confident of win over T&T
« on: August 27, 2008, 02:34:21 PM »
The key ingredients to beat the US:
Discipline in the back - stay compact and concentrate for the full 90+
  • Patience in attack - keep the ball when you win it
  • Attack with confidence in the attacking 3rd - a la Richardson from Joe Public
Limit the number of dead balls - they will dominate us in the air.  1/2 their goals come from FKs and corners.

After I saw them play Guat.  I am perplexed as to why we do not beat that side?  It just tells me that the psychological part of the game is just as important as all other elements (technical, tactical and physical)...the US has severly damaged the psyche of our team..we need players that just don't give a dam_ and just play, no matter the opposition ..... dem mudda suckas does lace up dey shoes jes like we!!!

Soldier, Now I thinking about this...do you really believe is ah mental? Fuh thee past years of them beating we, did they have better players than us or did we already beat ourselves mentally even before we lace up we boots? ???

I think it is a combination of a few issues.  Their youth dev. systems are better than our but I am prayin that Lincoln has an impact on that.  I also think that our foreign coaches (even Beene as evidenced by the fact that Latas played only 20 mins in the WC) - have not figured out how to put a team together of players that have the flair and creativity like the Strike Squad ...to be quite frank ...our football has become a bit white washed..with players hesitant to play with flair and take chances.

Trust that the US team came to T&T on Nov 19 ...mindful that they could have lost that game..but they put a plan in place to stop Latas and Yorke that day..and they did ... Latas en relly make a note dat day...tink about it..... from then our psyche has been damaged..

WHo on that US team should we relly relly be worried that we cannot neutralize without the proper plan??  ...our coaches have to coach...put a plan in place to play to our strengths and be fearlesss... but disciplined.

It's very interesting to me when you can get a report like this from a team/club/reporters from the MLS,people who are seeing/playing against this team for the first time,a team based on reports on this site would have thought this team was a shyt team,i'm yet to see a report anything close to this from a reporter in T&T,i know this may be is a surprise to most but based on the history of this team it should not be because the Pro league has grown and is not only Jabloteh it have, they are not doing as well as they should but they are a force, they have proved themselves by their results in the league, the criticisms leveled against them is only because they are associated with JW but what they are doing is no different to what all other teams do,so i want to say well done JP keep up the good works.
Coops, I watch the game and for the first 75 minutes Joe Public basically dominated the game.  What Joe Public did is exactly what our national team has to do in order to compete with the us....attack.

Dwarika and Richardson were a thorn in the side of the revs.  They really had no answer for either of them.  The one thing that US coaches fear in T&T players is our skill and that is exactly what we do not use against them.  I cannot for the life of me figure out why we do not attack, dribble and be creative against the US.  To me that is our only chance to win.  BEAT THEM....

Kudos to Joe Public as I thought the game was entertaining.
I understand and agree with your thoughts here but from my experience i will say that through out our history our strengths has always been our individual skills/flair,our downfall has always been our ability to play as a team,i think the modern game takes away the individualism and places more emphasis on playing as a team, through that players have lost their confidence to dribble and be creative, today if you are successful with it you are a hero and vilified if you are not,it's the easiest way to not make a team (just dribble too much) although i think every team needs a good dribbler on it.You will find our teams on any given day will play excellent and the next poorly because our success most times depends on who we play, our game in recent years has been very defensive and there are lots of reasons for that,we more tend to try and keep possession/play it safe than take risk,Latapy is a perfect example he was too risky for Benie, any how i gone.

Arimaman - spot on observations boss...I felt the same way watching that match last night.  Richardson..if he is a T&T native should be on the national team...especially since someone (crazy) thought that Toussaint was good enough to play in the colors!! ....the fella is worries dread..and the commentators were basically telling MLS clubs to scout the man.  He played under control, fearless and was full of confidence attacking that backline.

It was good to see Dwarika could still play ..he showed flashes of the stuff we saw all too often when I played for CIC.. the fella used to do what he wanted....ah know allyuh remember dat Malick side that took the North by storm!!

Coop's I hear yuh but tend to disagree that "the modern game takes away the individualism and places more emphasis on playing as a team" - - I think that players today are more technical all around and more players are capable of being a threat...so that lends for more balance.  I tell my youth teams that yes, we need to play as a team, but we have to be technically sound in all 11 positions....not just rely on "one good dribbler" as you say.  The good dribblers aka more creative players can play to their strengths and flair because they know that they have solid (technical) players around them.  They are more willing to take chances and commit to attack.  Our national team lacks that balance of skill ..you have some men that are comfortable regardless of pressure on the ball (Yorke, Daniel) - some men that could hold it under pressure most of the time (Hyland, Whitley, Lawrence) and then some men that ...pass off responsibility as opposed to making passes (Cyd, Avery,) ...I trust that you understand the difference....

I firmly believe that the team should be built around players that are highly to above average technically, that could read the game ..and share the occasional blade.... and ofcourse an enforcer in the middle of the park ..and a bonafide shot stopper that can distribute the ball accurately to initiate the attack....  Find that 11 and we qualify for 2010..no worries..

Joe Public look good last night....players of the game were Baptiste, Richardson, Thomas and Figueroa

Well done fellas..

me eh know about all the talk about Stern and "disruptive element" and all ah that, but my personal opinion is that Stern style of play is not what Management looking for. I feel he want a totally mobile team, and the kind of targetman hold up ball that they've been making Stern play is not Maturana thing. I eh go lie, me eh like it either.

On another note, watching USA vs GUA, Guatemala looking frightening at times boy, especially in midfield play. They have the US busy;and dey gruff and rough no ass. Like dey whole team now turn into Carlos Ruiz clones with the sneaky rough play. They commit 24 fouls and bloody up ah man face with ah elbow. This is one eff up game, 1 red card each team. The American players taking ah physical beating. US winning though 1-0 on ah freekick header.

TnT - GUA go be a good one.

US just win 1-0. Fight on the field now. Guatemala want to fight. Steeups.... More licks fuh dem from THE RWB.

I was nw going an write the same ting.  Guatemala will be a good test.  We have to contain the "dread" in the middle and the #7 on the right flank.  The US damn lucky to come out with the win...Guat had the better chances on goal ...Howard had good hands tonight... but Guatemala is beatable..... in fact I thought El Salvador was better than them...

Once our fellas come with the right mindset ...NO COMPLACENCY and with things in perspective..they should win the game 2-1.  But it will be physical..they will be pissed that they did not beat the US....Trinidad needs to settle early..MOVE THE BALL and take their chances.....

HOME BASED ..... PLEASE SUPPORT THE FELLAS IN NUMBERS....I want a match report talking bout 25000 strong in attendance!!!

Well Done Warriors!! .... that red kit looking reall kuff!!

Thanks uprising! VERY nice read. Sounds like we should be able to get pass Cuba on Wednesday. Will also be a good boost for the Guatemala game...Also sounds like an SOS for Stern, Randi Patterson and Collin Samuel.

I surely hope that we can get a result at Cuba -- it will not be easy...but last night was a BIG win for this team -- Hostile environment and the kept their composure and got a result...sometimes yuh have to do what you must..we just have to accept that it will not always be pretty.

Of concern;  the retreating to the 40 yd (line) before we apply pressure on the ball.  This will not work for 90 minutes.  Pacho has to change up his defensive schemed DURING THE COURSE OF THE GAME.  Last night he afforded ES way too much possession and did not make A SINGLE ADJUSTMENT.  That is worrying...is he actually coaching?? Because these fellas need it.

Is like in basketball - sometimes yuh press full court...sometimes yuh fall back and play zone....yuh have to mix it up...alot of time las night one man would presha high ...but the other 9 men droppin back...leavin about a 30 yd gap in the middle of the field...there must be presha as these teams transition throough the 3rds....

There is not enough time to teach that to the locals...so hopefully the addition of the FB brings this level of understanding.  Pacho you self man!  You is a big coach...you must read the game and make adjustments....did not make the last 2 subs until 10 minutes left in the game?? Not when yuh defending most of the game...yuh know men was tired.... bring the subs on (especially in a friendly) with 20 - 25 mns left ...so they could help hustle it and preserve the win....

Coaching 101!

Thanks for the report, man. I was quite pleased and surprised to hear that we won...then I saw that the coach actually bent to his critics and put 2 men upfront. good.
anyhoo, uprising you didn't explain how we came to be 1 man down???what happened there? and who was sent off?

Ah rell bad tackle -late and over the top of the ball - by our #7, start off the whole ting..  Simple ball play across to the man...he could not trap...so...since it was right in front of our bench that he made this error (with Pacho watching)... he decide that he want to mash up the ES player... de fella jes push and skip... but could not avoid the tackle completely.... so dey tussle after...benches cleared ...even the ES subs dat was warming up behind de goal ran all de way out to midfield........anybody on here would have been vex if a man com sliding een like dat...

it took quite a while to sort things out...so I did not even see what Cyd do...  ES only had one player sent off as well so it was actually 10v10....a player on the ES bench got a red card....so they only lost one field player.

Note: the #7 get turn up bad bad by ES #4 -  so he was frustrated long before he do dat piece ah mess.... the #4 giv him a lil stop and go and hand de man doing de "matrix" yes - - de part when Neo was dodgin de bullets... I seriously tawt de #7 break he back!!!

One thing I disagree wid yuh about is Glenn.  Ah think sometimes he looks bad because the service to him is poor.  Glenn is a player that is most effective when he is facing the opposition and running towards goal.  Because of tactics/formation/lack of creative midfielders he is forced to play with his back towards goal.  What you call starboy attitude I see more as frustration.  There were a couple times last night when he made good runs into space only to have a terrible pass sent his way.  Either de pass was overweighted or wide and yuh could see by his gestures that he wasn't happy about it.

Peeps ... no worries on de report ...it was de least I could do because Touches and others have been handling we (especially those of us dat outside) fuh so long ..ah had tuh give it a go!!  Touches is de chief doh...de res ah we is jes tryin a ting!!

I hear yuh on Glenn .... he would show better wit better service...but he could actually help improve the quality of service ...by improving the quality of his runs... 2 tings were not happening consistently...the forwards were not leading the mids and backs and; the mids and backs were often playing too slowly ...they were not processing the play quickly enough when the counter was on.  IMHO that comes down to technical ability and awareness.  Which is learned.

"we need to find a lot, we need basically a whole team...it funny how some people say phillips  performing well while you said he was shaky.  The cuba game will be very interesting"

When I say we need to find these players for these roles - - I mean we need to decide on who these players are going to be based on the current crop of players ...I am in no way saying that we need to start or extend the "talent search"....

From what I saw last night, I think Hyland could hold it in the middle.. He and Whitley (if Yorke is not available) could be the 2 pitbulls I spoke of earlier...we just need 4 dangermen in front of them to make of offense go...KJ and who else?

u getting the left back #3 mixed up with Cyd,#3 get cap, furs whatever u want to call it & foul the spanish man. That was not a well excutied free kick a little lucky if u ask me, the ball was to be a cross nobody toched it & it snuck into the last post.Dont forget after the game the players greet we(t&t fans),first time i see Hyland play he had a decent first half, nice touches & was changing the play from left to right. Not a bad proformance seeing that EL SAL was like the home team we still need alot of work to get things right, nice report never the less :beermug:

I understand dat it was the #3 that get the "sombrero" that lead to the ES goal.. but I thought he AND Cyd had sub par nights.  The ES goal may have been lucky to you ..but it was perfect execution to me.

From that angle - right side of the box for an inswinging left footed service - players are coached to drive the ball across the face of the goal...aiming for the area just inside or just outside the far post.  The attacking players are to make aggressive runs towards the near post, so that the GK does not have a clear view of the ball, because there is too much "traffic" flashing across him.  The idea is, if the ball is driven well (as it was) - 1) all an attacker would need is a touch to get it on goal 2) You get a deflection of a tracking defender - own goal and 3) in this case - no one touches it ....but because you were aiming for the area indicated above.... the result is the keeper getting beaten standing still....goal!

Perfect execution ..... not luck.

Our 1st goal was also well executed ..... short corner from the right side.. Theo to Daniel ...well driven bending ball into the 6yd box....Glen rises and with the slightest of headers (because of the quality of the ball served)...goal.  Had that ball from Daniel beaten everyone..it would have been a goal or a real nice save....

Besides Stern...This side is the best we have available.

Like we playing for a draw or a 1-0 in Cuba.

Now way no how Toussaint should be there before Stern.

Glen score a tap in vs Haiti down here but he play in a good few games and he salting bad.

Unless he starting Roberts and bringing on Glenn as the super sub in the second half.

I want him keep Phillip in the goal.

Other than Stern, the defence locked, but the middle is a real headache...Whitley ent play a game for the longest while. He have two ineffective midfielders who need caps in Hyland and Daniel. Theobold in the mix, Birchall in the mix, Leon dey too and Edwards spot locked.

The invited overseas pros include Swansea City defender Dennis Lawrence, Sunderland midfielder Carlos Edwards, Ferencvaros FC goalkeeper Jan Michael Williams, Miami FC defender Avery John, Coventry City midfielder Chris Birchall and Denizlispor FC striker Darryl Roberts.

                         Phillip

Cyd          Hislop       Lawrence      Avery

                         Leon

Edwards     Whitley   Birchall/Theobold   Hyland/Daniel

                       Glenn/Roberts

The other players included are goalkeeper Marvin Phillip (W Connection), Makan Hislop (United Petotrin), Keyeno Thomas (Joe Public), Cyd Gray (Clico San Juan Jabloteh), Clyde Leon (W Connection), Keon Daniel (United Petrotrin), Densill Theobald (Caledonia AIA), Khaleem Hyland (unattached), Aurtis Whitley (W Connection), Anthony Wolfe (North East Stars), Andre Toussaint (W Connection) and speedy striker Cornell Glen who is currently undergoing contract negotiations with an overseas club. Maturana commented on his selection, citing the importance of a good start for the team in Havana.

Toussaint should not  even get a corbeaux sweat again for this team - based on what I see last night vs. ES...

From last night's display..I feel we should go wit..

                          Williams

Cyd            Lawrence         Hislop            Avery

                           Birchall
Edwards                                           Theobald
                           Hyland

                Daniel                Roberts

A bit unorthodox with Daniel up top - but he is better technically than Glen and would link better with the midfield, which would help us maintain possession and get more players involved in the attack.  He is certainly a better option than Toussaint. If he is able to turn his defender...he strikes the ball well.

Subs;
Glen for Daniel (60')
Whitley for Birchall (70') - move Hyland back to DM let Whitley play AM
Leon for Theobald (70')

Football / Uprising El Salvador / Warriors Match Report
« on: August 15, 2008, 08:34:08 AM »
Forumites - I am trying a ting here ...so please doh compare mih to our resident Match Report expert - Sir "Touches" Esq.

With that out of the way, I must open by saying that we need to continue to support OUR team! - I am very proud of what I witnessed last night at RFK Stadium - The fellas made us proud ..for the most part ...some players on display were clearly not of International calibre and are just not ready (we will get into that later)

When I arrived at RFK (~ 7:15p) ... I was shocked to see how badly outnumbered the T&T contingent was by the ES crowd.  I thought to myself "Nah! -dis cyar be true..de Trinis must be around de corner or assembled somewhere else ..because dis cyar be it" ...yuh  seeing two three red jersey over so ..another  two three dong dey...couple flags ..couple bandana ...

Proceed to find a parking spot in lot 8 and all de ES drunk already and carrying on .. so I studying..if / when de Warriors win dis match..how I getting my car out of here ... because I park deep deep in de middle of a ES section.  Anyhow ah lock mih doors ...say ah quik prayers ...cause de car lil new still... and proceed to de stadium..nice lil walk but ah reach.....tickets in hand ...warm up jes finish by de time ah reach inside.

Bam - sit down ...pan around de stadium and realize dat yes .... we outnumbered bad bad ...it was like de movie -300- ... it might ironic if it was actually 300 of us out of the reported 28000 people in  attendance.... but dat 300 make rell rell noise...and conduct weself properly especially considering dat ES do rell sh_t wit de bottle pelting and runnin on de field and all dat...

The Game:
Trinidad lineup in a 4-1-3-2 - with Leon sitting in front of the back 4 and Theo, Daniel and Hyland in front of him.  Glen and Toussaint up front.  We looked purposeful in de earlies and were looking to settle in and play some ball.  The tactics were made clear within the 1st 10 mins that Trinidad were not going to pressure high and allow ES to knock the ball around in their own half and in midfield - we would retreat and apply ball pressure about 40 yards out - look to win the ball and play counter attacking football.  OK ah could live with that ... but not WHOLE game??!!

The defense was organised in that the spacing was good, but the formation allowed for way too much room on the flanks, so the wide ES players were able to serve balls into the box or swtich the field with one pass, under most often, no durress.  The left mid (#17) for ES was terrorizing Cyd, who looked either roast, old or injured... this was ES best player on the night and was always going to be the player to score for them.  Very comfortable on the ball and always looked dangerous going forward.  His goal was well struck and ES executed to perfection.

To our credit we defended well and limited them to only a few clear cut opportunities.  The best saves our keeper had to make were from deflected clearances from our defenders.  ES players were generally better technically than us...but any player would look good when not under pressure.  It would have been good to see Maturana mix things up occasionally, by moving his line of pressure.  Because when pressured (late) in the game - the ES back 4 looked shaky. Trinidad's defensive tactics were what you would expect from a team playing a man down - very little risk, compact and limited excessive movement ..which is OK..but it relies on defenders winning their individual battles.

Offensively, I was disappointed by the movement off the ball and the overall movement of our forwards.  Toussaint seemed disinterested and never really seemed to get engaged in the game.  He did some things well.. but at this level, more is required. The crowd was calling for his sub after 10 minutes... after two poor touches and no defensive effort.  He was playing as if his spot is booked in the side when the FB are available. No way! Glen, did not see opportunities to run into space or check back to the outside backs to recieve the ball, he spent most of his time posting up the central defenders..who muscled him off the ball..  his 2nd half was better than the 1st.  There always seemed to be too much of a gap between the mids and fwds ..and it was in that gap that ES kept winning the ball.

A point that must be made clear is that is very evident that our players are playing to instructions.  They almost look programmed and to be lacking ideas sometimes..but it is clear that they are trying to execute the coaches instructions.  Which is not an entirely bad thing..because it breeds discipline ..a trait that we have not always had..HOWEVER..a coach must recognize a players strengths and showcase them as well, while maintaining that discipline.

Our movement off the ball was not there consistently..which says that the players do not understand supporting angles and timing of runs.  That is because all 10 field players are not equally proficient technically..so the thinking is.. "I am not going to run off the ball..because WHEN we lose it..the run back will be that much harder..so instead, I will hold my ground here and leave the player on the ball to figure it out" - that is not international football - The coach has to find players that have this understanding and that are technically proficient..which means that they are fundamentally sound (trapping, passing and receiving), can read the game and are physically fit.   So from this point on ..if you do not have those attributes..your opportunities to represent the Trinidad & Tobago National team, should be slim to none.  A Standard must be established...

Player Evals:

Keeper - 5, Shaky

Cyd - 5 .... something is not right with him..is he injured? ..a speedy winger will mash him up

Edwards - 5 ... seemed too dainty ... his distribution out of the back was poor.  Showed his inexperience by giving up the foul that lead to the ES goal...nice late run forward to setup last goal...

Central defenders - 7.5, were strong in the challenge and played to their limitations..never really got caught out..need to work on clearing the ball..in any direction other than on goal!

Hyland - 8, the fella could play..was the best TT player in the 1st half.  It only takes a few touches to see the men that have IT and the ones that dont...Hyland does..Toussaint does NOT

Theobald - 7, got better as the game progressed...deserved the full 90... is not going to be our defensive midfield so mid, so as an attacking mid needs to offer more going forward.

Daniel - 7.5, good on the ball and could make the squad when the FB come in.  But again, must be more of a threat going forward..but a player to keep.

Leon - 6, did not really have an influence on the game...plugged the middle when he had too..but the flanks were so wide open that ES took advantage of that and never really threatened down the middle.  Do not really see him playing ahead of Whitley, Hyland or Birchall.

Toussaint - 5, 45 minutes was plenty - had me convinced that at 34 and 200 lbs... I deserve a call up to this team!  - this fella cannot be one of our better local forwards..ah cyar believe dat.

Glen - 7, 2 well taken goals..deserves to be in the squad..but comes off the bench to play up front or play him on the flank in midfield.  He is not a target player, and his movement of the ball needs work.  Must be trained accordingly.  Seems to be on a star boy kinda scene..so must lose that attitude, put his head down and continue to work hard.  Did well in the 2nd half.

Subs - 6, OK ..no real contribution... nice goal by Wolfe..a touch was all he needed ..the service from Edwards was top class....

Coaching staff - 6, this is my 1st game seeing Pacho's tactics live...and I was left wondering if he is up to the task.  Trinidad players have a flair and pinache that needs to integral to our football - I just did not see that last night.  I saw players afraid to make mistakes and to take risks.... gone are the days of attacking football?? ...say it aint so!!!...

We need to find;
2 defensive mids that are pitbulls in the midfield, that would allow the other 4 offensive players the freedom to attack

2 wing backs that can defend, initiate the attack and get forward,

2 wingers with pace and ability to get down the line and around the corner..

a target striker, with a mobile striker playing off of him..both of whom could finish....

Players from ES game that should be in the 18 for Cuba:
Hyland (should start), Daniel (should start), Theobald, Glen, Central Defenders

Bless!

uprising u was going good till u ask yuh last question

"Do we consider MLS/USL as foreign or local??" come nah man, do better than that nah

Hard Luck - did not realize that we rate the MLS and USL so highly... ::)  ....I do not consider them to be that great so maybe I should have posed the question - "Do we rate the MLS?" .... so ok for the sake of falling in line with you "experts"...we will say that the players in MLS are.....Foreign based!!  - thanks fellas for showing me the light!! - shame on me for rating our local players on the same level of the MLS -- what was I thinking???

No wonder we do not really set a high standard of play for our locals...

Not a matter of expert. It is a foreign league in a foreign country. Bt the way the USA cutting CONCACAF teams  ass wid the same MLS players

True I stand corrected - our players should be recognized for playing overseas..regardless of which "sea" it is.  Ah straight now.. upon further review.  :beermug: :beermug:

But please remove my name from any consideration for the DavyJenny's!!!

For the real ball peongs and Forum experts! (I can claim the 1st title NOT the 2nd!!...I am a peong fuh life!!)

Can you select a top 11 Foreign based and a top 11 Local team?  Based on mainly current form and overall ability to play INTERNATIONAL football.  How would that 22 rate against the Big 3??

Do we consider MLS/USL as foreign or local??

Men quarrelling about why we not playing higher calibre teams

The truth is that in the eyes of the world, we really not that good and any other confederation other than the teams we playing right now, doesn't see a matchup against T&T to be worth the investment in enhancing their programme.. When ever we mention US and Mex and even CR we start talking about conceding upfront, ask ourselves why, in fact dont ask ourselves cause deep down we already know the answer.

That being said, we just shut out the Caribbean Champions and put in two goals... I taking that..

We starting to win games ugly... I taking that... Because of seeing the game live i am able to put the result in context.. We surely not playing well at all so the expectation levels doh really go anywhere as a supporter even though the results of late have been good.

Six consecutive clean sheets.... I taking that.... Makan Hislop if allowed to continue has the the potential to be one of the best CB in Concacaf......

Another step is the team's abilty to perform on foreign shores, we will see how they do in the away matches to come...

You have to build credibility in the football world. Let the coaches continue their work

I trying to stay away from forecasting this team's progress. Frankly its a bit mind boggling and i doh get paid for this.. I will just wait and see...

Well said sah!  - - talk shoulda done after this post people. The man hit the nail on the head!

G you are NOT the weakest link!  ..... in a forum full of weak links!

The coaching staff needs to be held fully accountable for player selection and tactics.  If the players selected do not have the technical ability or tactical fortitude to execute - basic football fundamentals - how then do they get selected to play on the national team??

As a youth - lil personal history here - I was cut from a national squad (last cut) coached by Mr. St. Claire - because I was not able to consistently execute a basic / fundamental ....trap the keepers punt out of the air ...with your laces ...and initiate the attack... -  BASIC!

Because other players could execute CONSISTENTLY - they were selected to rep the country ...and I was not.   Tough to swallow as a youth..but now as a coach I understand that a standard must be set and enforced even if it means killing or postponing a dream!!

What standard have our coaches set for our players? -- how long does it take to evaluate a player? Surely not 10 - 12 games! -- we should be closer to identifying our strongest 22 by now.  11 local 11 foreign based.

Maybe we should start a poll - Name your strongest Foreign based vs Local Based???  and that see if those 22 players could stand against the Big 3?!!

I cannot believe Latas is not included as an option on the poll.

From all reports - the team seems to lack motivation and pride in the colors -

Nothing like having the team under the charge of a legend, as long as the staff is also strong.  I say Latas and Gally.   To bring back pride and not to mention people - back in the seats....

Imagine playing a WC qualifier in front of 1000 people!!!! There are more than that at college league games!

You guys head shallow... the game will do Gay (for example) a whole heap of good (experience). Scotland have experience under his belt allready, let the youth get a chance he might surprise you.

A good mixture of experience and youth is the way forward. By the next world cup we will have a seasoned bunched thanks to Matruana whether he here or not.

in all honesty, if you look at the level of play of each of our strikers, darryl is playing at a very high level, higher than the championship and league one, Eerste Divisie is at the same level as the epl, so really, jones and roberts playing at a higher level than stern and scotland, jones injured, so roberts and stern are next in line then scotland, plus maturana believe in the youths so he will try them over a foreign based because of our future prep, i doubt scotland will miss wcqualifiers.

God is de BOSS...

You must be smoke some bad weed to think that the Dutch Eredivisie is at the same level as the EPL.

Aye boss - doh put down weed like dat nah bredda - - Dat man is obviously a spranga tuh make dat statement..check him fuh coke, crack and hero!!

No Rafinha (Schalke 04), No Breno (Bayern)

No Hernanes (Sao Paulo), No Lucas (Liverpool), No Richarlyson (Sao Paulo), No Thiago Neves (Fluminense)

No Ronaldinho ... and prolly no heap of protest ... I am yet to check.

Are you serious?
