Football / Re: Jahyouth's player ratings: T&T vs. Panama
« on: July 11, 2005, 11:04:35 AM »
I don't think we could make a goalkeeper change at this point. If Jack is going to improve he needs to keep playing.  Beene needs to find a way to get Shaka some time as well so that we have 2 trusty custodians for the rest of the journey..cyar bench Jack now at all..dat will shake his confidence and open de door for Imps to come back and stake ah claim!

Jahyouth, spot on wit yuh ratings..need more creativity from the mids/forwards...I am impressed with the overall play of the defense..i think we have that unit sorted out..now Beene need to figure out how to generate some offense..because we have no flow or 'brand' as we say...that is not trinidad football...  at least it seems like the program have some direction..

Go Warriors..

Like Sternn online fellas, reading de posts...because ah see he get a vote for the Concacaf ALL Star XI...!!

363
I agree with you dey Samuel, bring Glenn on in about de 65 min for either, Samuel or Jones..Stern could come on for somebody in about the 70th and bring Eve on with him for somebody else..if we protecting a lead..I would put Eve in the middle of the park late..to command the middle, win balls and motivate men to finish the game..the man is a leader and needs to stay involved with the team..

TT Best XI:

Jack
Atiba Tallest Dog Avery
Edwards Birchall Spann Samuel (Tiger could be in the mix at some point)
Yorke Jones (give him instructions to run at the defense)

Stern is out of form and needs a rest. Pure and simple.  I en go fight de man down but a lack of form is a lack of form.  The younger players looking to him for some kinda guidance and if dey are constantly seeing him underperform, the whole team level drops...we need 11 men committed to playing to the teams strengths and coaches directives..Trap and Screen just not getting it done right now...

None of the teams scouting us worried about our starting forwards, but trust me they are aware of the men we currently have on the bench...they know men like Glenn and Jones could cause problems..

Food for thought..Beene will figure it out..

King, i en saying to forget about samuel, all I saying is that Theo audition on de left done..let Samuel start tomorrow..but moving forward I believe Tiger should be in the squad competing for the position wit maybe Samuel and another left footed player..you could only 'get by' with a right footed man on the left....now if you get a man with 'both feet' then is different story..but as far as I know we don't have too many of those... leh we jus hope we figure it out..because if Avery keep collecting yellow cards because of the gap at left mid...his game will be affected...we need a man that can play out there comfortably and play the role... not a man 'learning to play the position'...not at this level..we don't have time to teach a man how to play a position..

my 2 cents...

Football / Re: Bring Back Tiger!!!

What allyuh saying is that it is ok, for a team trying to make the WORLD CUP, to only have one true left footer (Avery)?  Allyuh mus be mad to think that experimenting to see, which RIGHT FOOTER will be best suited to play left flank, is the course of action to pursue?  That would not even be acceptable in college league, much less the world stage..

Bring back Tiger and find 2 more left footed players to hold down that flank, let them battle it out.  We need a man with a high work rate that KNOWS HOW TO PLAY THE POSITION.  No more make shift players, playing 'out of position'...all the footballers in Trinidad and we here trying to figure out which righty could play a lefty position??  Theo on the left DONE...Lawd Ah Cyar Tek It No More!!!!!!!!

De Panama game is a must win on every level....so all experiments done...Samuel on the left
Spann / Birchall in the middle...if Edwards fit on the right (or Cyd if he not)...Stern and Glenn up top.. Atiba..Sancho .. Tallest ... Avery across de back..Jack in goal..ALL OUT (disciplined) ATTACK against Panama..yes we want to possess the ball..but we have to move the ball with purpose..men playing like they fraid to lose the ball...that is why they looking poor technically..just play to their strengths and to the coaches instructions...

This game is a huge game as it will set the tone for the rest of the Hex..if dey dont get 3 points..confidence will take a shot..

Handle allyuh business warrriors...

                     Jack

Atiba     Dog      Giraffe     Avery

Rahim          Spann           Samuel
                  Birchall
        Scotland        Stern

Eve for Rahim
Glenn for Scotland
Sancho for Dog (he need a rest)

This game could have 1-1 written all over it, but they will pull it out wit a late header (Eve corner..Stern finish)  2-1 Warriors!

369
I agree, the left mid has been a dead spot for us with Theo out there.  It is clearly a position that needs to be straightened out.  Also if Theo is going to compete with Birchall, Whitley, Spann , Eve and Rahim for time in the middle of the park, then it is time to put the experiment of him on the left to rest.  Between Glenn (Tiger, not now but maybe later) and Samuel we should find a competent left winger.

We have to be solid at all 11 spots on the field, at this level we cannot afford to hide players on the field, because please believe it will be a weakness that teams will exploit..if our left mid can't keep their right side honest, opposition will attack down our right left side whole day and we can't expect Avery to hold it down against 2 and 3 attackers, pressha does buss pipe!

So use this Gold cup to solidify every position on the field, so come WCQ we know who is who and what is what..

Jus my 2cents..we all know Leo runnin tings de way he see fit..cool wit me I-ya!

Go warriors..

I still feel Nigeria will get they act together and qualify, but from that list Ivory Coast (de youth Drogba could ball) and possibly Ghana.. I en saying a African team winning it but one of them will go deep into de ting

I think the US will come out of their group but not past the 2nd round.. 2010 they will make some noise, when Donovan is a seasoned vet and Eddie Johnson well established after playing couple years in Europe (MLS can't hold he down)..I would be shocked if he in MLS next year..

371
Andre, England dred?!?! You is ah mad man or what!!??  yuh entitled to that opinion no doubt, but come on brethren...ENGLAND stopping the Samba next year?!!?

Argentina is Brazil's main worry...Riquelme is a flat out dan! No bad pass and he dangerous anytime he picks up the ball.. Watch for one of the African teams making a run deep in the WC..the 'sleeper' team will be out of Africa...

Mexico is better than the US (but not by much sadly)...top 3? I don't think so, but definitely top 10.

It would be nice to see Trinidad get into the top 30..real work have to be done though..once we put BEENE best XI ot there and them fellas play wit pride...why not?

Football / Re: How many Warriors could make CONCACAF Best 11?
« on: June 21, 2005, 04:15:25 PM »
Allyuh forgetting that it have players from countries that not in de hex, that would make a Concacaf XI:

GK - Keller (by far) ... Shaka or Mexico keeper (boss against Brazil de other night) off de bench
D - Rafa Marquez, Pope , Andrews , , Bocanegra .. Dog could get a cobeaux off de bench
M - Beasely , Whitmore or Whitfield (jamaican youth), Fonseca , Morales (best left foot in de region)
F - Borgetti (killer), Ruiz (G'Mala) .. Yorke, Panama forward (not Brown), Donovan off de bench

Real warriors making de 2nd team, but realistically we could only get 3 men off the bench in dis starting squad... most important ting is dat the warriors make it to Germany..all star team en mean tata..

Go Warriors!

Football / Re: So allyuh blaming de game on Jack?
« on: June 09, 2005, 10:56:49 AM »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall they stuck to the script of trying to get a point, but I have some issues that some men done touch on already..

-That should be the last time we seen Stern and Yorke up top.  Stern should come on for Dwight in de dregs is Dwight need a rest.  This chest trap and screen and draw a foul ting is REAL mess!  Yorke was really working for 2.

- Birchall and Whitley in the middle, did not work last night.  Whitley was a non factor, Birchall was a little better but they both could have been subbed at the half.  Distribution just was not there.

-Yes the game plan was to defend and get a point but we gave them WAY too much respek when we had a chance to counter attack, we just did not look interested in attacking AT ALL..

-The back 4 was absolutely solid..Avery deserves a BIG UP (esp. for the save he make with his buttocks!!)..the fellas get tired at about the 70th minute and it showed..we started to GIVE THEM the flanks to let them serve balls and run at us..

-The goals.  1st goal (yes Jack have to hold on to that ball) but if Edwards was not roast, he coulda get some kinda header (dive if you have to) on the ball that came across for de man to slap at goal..tiredness.. 2nd goal (another ball Jack coulda done better with..esp. at this level) but that is a hard luck..tiredness did us in..overall Jack was solid though.

I don't know if anybody watched the Panama / US game, but even though the US dominate, Panama made them work defensively as well, their forwards were not afraid to RUN at the US defense..granted they gave up 3 goals but they could have scored 3 as well..we never really threatened last night and it showed, the mexicans never seemed hurried at all.   I hope that in August, while we respect what the US can do, we take the game to them a bit more than we did against Mexico last night..

That was a hard game (of backs and forwards) tro watch last night, because I know we have more to offer on the offensive side of the ball, but you have to do what you have to do, so tactically beene man has to be commended.  I think he could have used the subs a bit earlier though..Tiger would have been better suited for the left side than Theo (in my OPINION), he just does not seem comfortable out there and was very predictable (never ran at the defender, always cutting back)..

We are still in the hunt but realistically we cannot afford to lose more than one more game, I think we need to go 3-1-1 in the next round, starting with a win in that game in August..

I still on the wagon..GO WARRIORS!

Jack - 7.5 (solid, better than I thought he would have been)
Atiba - 7.5 (solid)
Dog - 8 (solid)
Giraffe - 8 (solid)
Avery - 8.5 (MOTM...got tired and just started to pass blade!)
Birchall - 6.5 (will get better with time but stuggled for most of the game)
Whitley - 6 (non factor)
Stern - 6 (non factor)
Yorke - 8 (did what he could)
Theo - 6 (non factor)
Edwards - 7 (the only man that looked like he wanted to run at them)

Football / Birchall or Fitzpatrick?
« on: June 08, 2005, 07:47:36 AM »
Tiger or Birchall???  Two different kind of players in my opinion.  I am waiting to see Birchall live for the 1st time tonite, but it sounds like he is more suited for the middle of the park, moreso than Tiger.  Tigre in my opinion is better on the left wing, he needs to gain confidence in attacking the right mid / back off the dribble, needs to become a triple threat (tackling, passing, dribbling) ... overall though even if he is not a starter he is a man we NEED on the team, because of his attitude and love for TT football..he will continue to work hard and push the men in practice which will only make them and himself better.  He has alot of football to play still, so people instead of the fight down ting, we should be happy that we have players available, with that kind of heart... when called upon he will give his 110% (just like Birchall)...so instead of Birchall  OR Tiger?  it should be Birchall AND Tiger (make this team better)...

Bless..

Arima,
Yuh give man chills when yuh mention Wright and Mason..Killers!!  You have a real point when you say when trinis meet each other up here, is real blade passing during de game and ole talk after... Men en want dat news to reach back home bout " Boy,  dis one real mash up dat one"  you know how de ole talk does go..especially back home, trini too small.   I wouldn't lie though it was intimidating to those teams that had mostly white boys, when they see a squad of west indians run out...when they see the warm up and is a setta flick and drag and in between is dialogue in a dialect they can't pick up..  downside is with a side with 6 / 7 trinis and most of them playing in Midfield or up front..trouble..it took us a year to gel.  I remember my first training they almost send me home because it was only drag, spanna and 'cap' for everybody who pass...until Dyer put a stiff elbow in mih chess and tell mih cool it!!!!!!!!

I en get a lick of work done today..!

Arima,
I agree wit your comment on Bertille as a coach, he ran things based on intimidation for real, which works to a certain point. I was in de squad (88) that train for the U17 qualifier tourney in the caribbean dat had Nixon, Pacheco, Papa , Kevin Moze, Garcia, Carrington, Webb and some other big namses (that is the team that qualify for the U20 tournament).  As a new comer / 'small name' to the national scene it was real hard to break into that nucleus of players and Bertile had clear favorites, men get so comfortable that they did not hav to train as hard as de rest of us...that will always cause strife in a team... was one of de las men dropped from de 25 in training (they took 20 to the tounament).  That experience will always stay wit me, b/c it was the hardest I ever train, it was an exercise in 'mental toughness', yuh not only had to impress the coach but de men in de nucleus as well..

Cannot say that BSC is a bad coach though, but he could stand to give his players some of the control that he has a hunger for...

Dis board en easy at all dred, I thought I could slide when I reference D&E, but i see nothing en safe wit allyuh men...but you is mih brethren because as see we have de same taste in logo...

Yes good football in that league back in dem days, we had a gang ah trinis on we squad, bu couldn't beat wheeling and charleston (we beat dem once in my 3yrs and it was mas in Elkins!)... it was a nice squad , good mix (if Sherwood had stay, who knows) but we had Dyer/Mitchell/Jones (pres), Hilaire (Naps), Gatt / O'Neil (saints), Findlay (Fatima)... so yuh swear we woulda mash up real teams..we did alright except for those local rivalries..is dem blastid white girls in WV dred, to be honest wit yuh...man brushin before training and ting (I en calling no names, I en able wit dis board)...man late for de bus to go to match b/c he want ah las lix before we hit de road...yuh know how it go....I imagine is de same ting up in Wheeling...allyuh had a nice squad fi real...ah mus say for ah place behind God back like WV, TT was well represented in de 90's...

I went to Davis and Elkins ( and then WVU) i believe your JMU coach, Martin is ah D&E alumni?  We scrimmage allyuh either in 92 or 93? needless to say we got a nice portion... Isham was there when you were still at JMU?  Nice player, developed well (once he started to take things seriously)...he was a couple years behind me at saints..
