Football / Re: Anybody know if David Austin still playing?
« on: June 07, 2005, 11:26:26 AM »
Arima Man,
I play with Saints (87-90) team (men like Moze, Cummings, Rocke, Jack) and I remember dat Arima squad dat was a big squad between 88-90, with you, Papa and Carrington, as a man from D'abadie, I used to back allyuh and Gustine in de east.  Saints gave you all a nice run in de velodrome in de big 7, but ah tink Arima be us 2-0 on some real dubious officiaiting.  Still respect due to dat squad, ah believe Mickey was in dat squad too? (RIP)..

Big up to the the saints '91 team dat win everything it had up for grabs.. Jason Rocke led the colleges league in scoring dat year..

QRC...as ah saints man..ah have to say 'haul allyuh ....' but allyuh had a big squad too wit Garcia, Ezebe (destroy real men de year allyuh  beat saints 5-0 on QRC grounds), Checkey and Alibey(?)...nice squad but en make no noise on de national scene...

Well said DCS, we too blastid quick to fight down de man,  when de word at dis point (to most of us) is just rumors...oh gawsh man..we jus win a big game ..and already is a setta tey ley ley..

Ince has 'seemed' committed to de cause to this point. He has made himself available when called, so in my OPINION he has earned to benefit of the doubt..before we trhow him down in de bamboo.. warriors fans yuh cyar be so fickle...if dis is true den we / meaning Beenie has a real void to fill.. especially if Shaka is still fixing his bizness..

Yes Boss, Thanks for de report...de next best ting to being in de stadium is getting these reports from allyuh bruddas...from who pulling stones to who getting on twisting up defenders..well done.

Now de trinis dat on de outside have a example of how we have to mash up Connecticut in August when we play de US... we have to represent up dey..ah done have mih tickets, we in section 223 (midfield upper level)...

Well done Warriors!  Stern have to cool it wit dat star boy ting! He have to realise that it en have much distance between he and some of the men on the bench as well as men dat was not in the 18 for the Panama match.. he have to know Beenie en go allow he to poison de locker room with no selfishness like dat...how he expect to throw way all dem goals and en get no kinda fight down???  Even Ronaldo does get boo.... Stern cool it.. just play ball dred! more is expected of you, as a veteran you have to provide leadership...not dissent..

Well said Cooper, anything can happen but we have to make it happen.  All of these predictions are all well and good, but what is a good reason why we can't beat any of the teams in the hex?  If the team plays with desire and true grit (REFUSE TO LOSE) why we can't beat the US???
There are no more easy games, so hopefully there are no more half hearted players on the TT squad.   Only players that understand what is at stake..

You have to respect every team you face, but to say we can't beat them, goes beyond respect.  That is a loser mentality and allows these players to accept mediocre play...they are playing to qualify for the WORLD's BIGGEST SPORTS EVENT..nuff motivation to go out there and teef points by any means necessary...

GO WARRIORS!!!!!

Football / Re: Score Predictions for Saturday and Wednesday
« on: June 01, 2005, 01:25:36 PM »
Warriors 3 Panama 2

-Stern opens the scoring.  Edwards and Yorke to follow.  Roberto Brown double for Panama.

Mexico 2 Trinidad 1

-Very tall order getting a point in Mexico (but stranger things have happened)

USA 2 Costa Rica 2
-Jus because ah doh like de US

USA 3 Panama 1
- because game recognise game...de US could play ah lil ball..

Football / Re: I like We Squad
« on: May 31, 2005, 09:32:29 AM »
Yes, this squad should be able to get the job done during the next week.  Ofcourse no one squad will satisfy every fan, we must realise a few things however:

- There is alot of footbal left to play, if you don't make this 18 who says you won't be called for the next 18 down the road.  This is not the time to over react regarding Beenie omissions, juts hope that he gets it right in terms of the starting 11 and formation.  The first 25 minutes against Panama will be critical, if our boys are able to settle down early and dictate the flow, things nice..HOWEVER if we come out flat and give up a "soft" goal and have to play from behind..could be trouble.. de riddim section on the 4th will be crucial..

- The fact that there is such a buzz over the omissions means that we are finally developing a pool of players, who if they remain COMMITTED to TnT, will represent our country well for years to come.  This is a GOOD thing people..Brazil has (at least) 3 starting 11's they could run out with and still mash people up, the US is developing their squad to that level as well.  So instead of sweating 'who en get pick', understand that it bodes well for our football, once the players are true professionals and not players with a school boy mentality, when man was playing for girls and to hear de crowd bawl after every drag and spanna...

Go Warriors!

...personally I woulda pick Dwarika over Rahim, but we will see how tings work out..

My eleven:

                                                Ince

               Atiba                          Dog                            Avery

Edwards                   Birchall                   Theobold                Tiger
                                             Yorke
                                Stern                      Jones

Any word on where the 'section' going to be?  Is anyone coordinating a 'forum lime' before the game?  We have a squad coming from DE/NJ side, so we trying to organise game tickets and travel arrangements..

I do not think they will be selling tickets for the upper levels..could be wrong though.

Football / Re: Left footed players
« on: May 20, 2005, 12:24:37 PM »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That 3-5-2 sound like the solution.  Left back / left mid is a critical critical position as most opposing teams will be strong on that side.  Look at the 1st goal the US score in de oval...right side cross...Tiger (dais mih horse..must start)  chook ah foot (loose marking on the right back) and Rojas nowhere to be found...wide open header...Shaka no chance ..Goal!

Since Tiger and Birchall seem to have the highest workrates in the midfield, this is the best 3-5-2 to go with..

                                                         Ince

                                       Atiba           Dog          Avery

                               Edwards              Birchall               Tiger
                                               Yorke          Spann

                                                 Jones      Stern

Subs: Glen for Stern (70), Nakhid for Spann (70) and maybe Sam/Daniel for Tiger.

We will see if Birchall work rate will help hold down the middle of the field and help distribute the ball out the back.  Get Spann and Yorke moving forward attacking the defense.  Tiger work rate will not require Avery to come forward and do what he does ...Mark and Bruise!

If Stern en up to par den bring Nakhid for Stern, push Dwight up top..

All in all is good to see that we have options, we really need to start developing the younger players to U20/U23 so that we have a bigger pool of international caliber players.  I hate to say it but look at the US now to the US 15 years ago.  They picking from about 75 players, we have about 30 international caliber ballers.

With Rojas struggling do we think that Sancho can fill the void at left back?  Or even play Sancho central and push Avery out on the left?  They really need to sure up that d because alot of our goals conceded have been 'soft'.

Sounds like Yorke is playing at his best (at this point in his career, not a youth anymore). I truly hope that this and other forums helps to put people in the seats, we need to pack stadiums the way we used to and really get behind this team.  Who else is there to back?? Seriously?!  Football has to be a closer second to liming and fete in our lives/culture.  National pride and support of our teams and athletes is a sure antidote to de madness going on with the crime scene in Trini.

I have been outside for 15yrs now and everyday I studying how and when I will move back HOME, but I cyar convince my wife (american...ah know ah know) dat is a solid move when the murder rate is as it is.  Not to mention kidnapping and drugs etc etc etc... so please Lord let this team do something, to help my argument that life in TT is what it used to be..ah tired ah de cold (Bush is ah madman!!!!!)

Touches,
You mentioned the size of the Peruvians, was that an issue for our players?  Was TT up to the challenge in the air?  Reason being that we all know that the US (especially) is strong in the air, with good target players (de youth Johnson) up top.  We have to be able to play/defend against multiple styles of play (ie. long ball, knock, and a combination of the two.  One of BSC's shortcomings was his tactics and adjustments during the match.  Is it clear of the necessary adjustments are made during the match, by the players/coach?  What brand was Alianza playing?

Thanks for the match report, truly envious of you bruddas that can attend these games and see the team develop.

Bless

Ay allyuh, I playin in a lil county league up dis side wit Slates... last week de man net up 2 big big goals...so I adding Slates to the "TnT Greatest Players" list...any problem wit dat!

But on a serious note, I play for CIC back in de late 80's so I my recollection of great players include;

Nixon - gustine
Wise - st.anthonys
Sherwood - pres
Shawn Garcia - qrc
checkey - qrc
Kona -CIC
Colin Rocke - CIC
Mickey - RIP brethren!
Yellowman - San Juan
Legendre - gustine

How dem fellas rate (if at all) to dem vintage men from back in de day...now I know enough to recoginse that Trini hey days was well before my time..so allyuh take it easy when comparing..we all on de same side!

De best national team I see rep trini was when Latas and dem was under16...
