"...Meantime, Barbados midfielder Edward Moss who went off injured in the second half is reported to have badly broken his leg in two places and the Wrexham youth player has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament."

That is a real hard luck ..sounds like the tackle he succombed too was out of wildness and frustration (wit TT being down 1-0)...clearly this youth was (hopefully will continue to be) a player to watch...already playing in the youth system at Wrexham...how many TT youngsters are laying that kind of foundation?

Yuh mean how many has the opportunity to lay that foundation and some year back W connection beat wrexham in a tour of the Uk

Boss, I en buying dat at all...once you could dream it, you can become it...You telling me that players cannot, without proper support (parents! coaches!), achieve the dream of playing abroad?

If you set it as a mission ... hardwork and DEDICATION make it happen!

That is part ofthe problem, we too often times ..say "nah I cyar be dis or dat, it too hard" ..... defeatist attitude...  I hope that Bajan youth makes it and inspire some of the other WI youths along the way..

Bless

Overly bashing De Freitas is really poor form. He is only 16 years old. If he had a bad game...he had a bad game. Doh start calling the youth names. Big professional players does go WC and other tourneys and play horribly...so give the youth a chance. I am always for free speech and criticism...but not that kinda name calling for a 16 year old. Dese youths must take a small peak at the site now and then and unlike our adult hard-back ballers, they may not yet have the maturity to just ignore excessive abuse. The youths need a lil more protection from that. I not saying to praise him if he didn't pay well...I just saying to be mature in your criticism. A youthman confidence much easier to dent up...shitting up a small man on this site could actually ambush the side by killing the confidence of an integral team member.

EXACTLY... Take the words out of my mouth ..nuff respect Filho

Men going over board with this criticism dred..  At the youth level a major challenge is not "playing down" to the level of a weaker opponent.. players and teams have to be able to maintain and or raise their level in those situations ..which takes ..psychological fitness.. Youth players are still developing that 'muscle'....

So people take it easy and be responsible with the critiques ...oh gawsh man!....  at 16 how many of allyuh was running out representing the red - black and white????

CIC !! ... (BRAM BRAM) ... WE WANT AH GOAL!!!!!!!!

96
Ah keep telling alyuh that this right winger and right back position have kinda been the same for years...remember Marvin Fustin anyone? Right backs do overlap at times...so if ah player like Carlos geh ah bligh at right back so wha! The game has changed relating to those positions. ;D

Exactly..the game is changing..where all positions must be mobile and able to play within the possession / attacking style of play...

Best case in point - Ashley Cole - rated as one of the best left backs in the world..you telling me that Carlos can's aspire to be that type of player?

You must be able to play multiple positions in today's game!

Football / Re: I hope that Stern John drops T&T
« on: July 26, 2006, 12:20:26 PM »
Point is Stern did what he is supposed to do ...score goals and moreso at the critical time ...most of us have watched enough football to notice is a player is not pulling his weight and is in fact pullin stones...

The goals against Guatemala are as clutch as they come..so for that we must give Stern his props.. but if he is pullin stones..he pullin stones...no big deal in saying dat... but make sure yuh praise de players when praise is due....

Hopefully we have and could find some hungry players that want to accept the responsibilty up top.... HOWEVER at this point ..our main concern should be how to develop the TEAM ..NOT to find a replacement for Stern....  Trust, we build a solid team and the goals will come ..and hopefully from multiple sources.... We have to be solid - great in EVERY position... only then will we be able to compete!

So if Stern plays on ...big up to him ...he is what he is ..T&T all time scorer ...nobody cyar take dat away from him (for the time being! ... :beermug: :beermug:)

Football / Re: Nakhid's take on things....anybody got a dictionary?
« on: July 24, 2006, 10:31:56 AM »
Whether it is Gally, Nakid or any local (like allyuh did when they played/coached), all yuh could do was mash them orp...

Allyuh call allyuhself Trinis to de bone but I see many on this board as a bunch of disloyal fakers/phu*uers.

How can you watch a man like Latapy who dedicate over 20 years to TnT be disrespected the way he was (allyuh shut up and sit down and hail massa)and say the European (after a few months) know what he was doing.

After 3 games, Bertille had 1 point....  After 3 games Beenie had three points...  Yorke then beg Latapy to return...  After 4 games with Latapy, we gained 9 points...  Yet allyuh still claiming Beenie was the savior...

But as every artist in TnT, whether musician, or athlete, yuh here today and gone tomorrow.

Beenhakker is de luckiest b!tch I ever see, de only coach to have 3.5 CONCACAF spots to work with, de only coach who Trini fraid to criticize, wuss yet de only coach to leave de World Cup whose team left as the only team to not score a goal and then be anoited a hero...

De only coach who getting paid by 2 countries and now have his assistant as head coach...

De only coach who knew up front that Latapy initially wanted to play the part of player/assistant coach and then embarrass TnT's greatest hero on de world stage and get away with it so that his assistant will be promoted to head coach...

Every other coach who grace TnT, particularly Local, all man could do is mash dem orp, now nobody could even dare question Beenie's tactics, else yuh muddah, faddah and chirren getten cuss...

Allyuh sick no arse, I never see a bunch ah arse lickers like allyuh, I am a man who respect 20 years of service and will never accept some phu*uing foreigner to disrespect our hero de way Beenie did and all ah allyuh who love to defend Beenhakker could say was dat Latas too old, Luis Figo was 37 and Latapy was 37, and the world has seen against Paraguay dat Latapy can still work magic...

Sad to say but de roots people in Trini know de truth and agree dat Beenie phu*ue up and benefit his own, is only allyuh internet-savvy-feel-allyuh-superior-cornts who love tuh kiss arse... sick phu*uers

Allyuh European Arse lickers, haul yuh muddahs cornt!

Beenhakker get away with murder and den de jackarse gov't give him a Chaconia medal after paying hundreds of thousands of US dollars....

If dis is not a clear cut case of colonial brainwashing, I doh know what is...

Lil extreme .. but I tend to agree with the opinion that how Beene handled Latas playin time was disrespectful ....

Latas IMO ..is the greatest players to EVER wear the colors ...so for him to play 20 mins in a world cup ..is DISRESPECTFUL ....not 20 mins per game ..but 20 minutes for the TOURNAMENT?!!!! ....

If the justification is that Latas is a defensive liability ...tactically Beene could have adjusted ...play with 2 defensive midfielders .. (take yuh pick on who..Birchall/Yorke...Whitley/Yorke ...) to cover Latas ....  there is absolutely no way that Theobald should have played as much as he did....

No sense crying over spilt milk ..WC (sadly) is over .. time for the future ...

If T&T did not attack enough ..I got enough joy out of ..1) How well ALL the African Nations played (one day there will be an African champ) 2) How poorly to US showed and 3) How beloved the Warriors were all over the world!!

Latas ..is a hero and he deserved more .. that is my only critique of Leo, tactically he could have factored Latas in....

« on: June 15, 2006, 08:01:08 AM »
I am amazed at the fact that a US writer would have the humility to put the US that low.... usually they make all kinds of excuses as to why the US lost or played poorly...

I think the US will finish the Cup with 1 point... a 2-2 tie with Ghana ..Italy will beat them 2-1...

Go Warriors!

103
Nah is Joe Cole I talking about ..the fella have pace and could handle the ball ... I en know eh but England backline to me could get exposed..I think that is their weakness ..if only we could commit one or two more players to our attack ..I truly think we could create a handful of opportunities ..

Alot of times if we get the ball wide ..the wingers only have one target to cross too..  if Leo could find a way to get Latas some meaningful minutes he would really help us transition from the back - thru the midfield, so we could get some numbers forward ....

At the end of the day, we must accept though, that we will do more defending than attacking .. we just need to make the most of when we have possession ..lose the ball deep in their half ..not ours!!

104
Cole vs. Edwards?

I know this is only 2 of many (eg.  John vs. Rio) ...but from England's UNIMPRESSIVE opener ...Joe Cole and Crouch look like the 2 men that really wanted to play....

What is the most critical matchup for Thursday?

Football / Re: whitley should start
« on: June 12, 2006, 01:59:16 PM »
I agree wholeheartedly .. Whitley shoudl start..once fit!..Not sure what the extent of his injury is / was but if he is fit he is a better option than Theo..
It was Theo's bad pass on top of the box that forced Dwight to have to dive into the foul early in the first half right on the edge of the box (it could have almost been a PK) ... Whitley has more confidence than Theo and would do well pushing forward ...

If we play 4-5-1 then let Whitley play in front of Yorke and Birchall in the middle ..let him be the midfielder tucked in behind Stern / Jones or Glenn...he is good enough to beat his man and create a shot for himself...look at the goals so far in the cup...men HITTING from distance with success ..  let Birchall and Whitley leggo ... Yorke have to play in front of the defence to settle them men down in the back ...Sancho -2nd runner up for MOTM - must partner Lawrence in the back....give Dog a rest...

Do not move Edwards to right back ..he cannot play there for 90...the biggest matchups are Crouch vs. Lawrence and Edwards vs Cole... yuh heard it hear 1st..

Proud to be a Trinbagonian!!!!!!!

Boss.. :applause: I could live wit dat squad...why not have Latas and Yorke running de show in de middle for us ...make dem teams have to defend a lil bit too..these 2 men holding possession better than anybody else we have out there ....

I like that squad..

The formation that makes sense to me is a 4-5-1
...with Yorke as a withdrawn striker / midfielder (roaming)
..Stern as the target
... the other 4 in midfield
.. Edwards - Whitley - Birchall - Samuel...

talk done!

Go Warriors ..

way sah..man geting real knock for over use of the 'Quote' button now yes  :rotfl:

the article Touches find was correct but me ent know where Touches get he version of numbering from lol

as JDB say..2 & 3 is right and left back
5 & 6 is Central defence
4 is sweeper or holding midfielder
7 & 11 is wingers or wide midfielders
8 mostly plays centre midfield
10 is either attacking midfield, playmaker or forward
9 is your main striker or target man.
there is a difference between a forward and a striker btw.

I always thought #7 (Junior 82/86) was your playmaker in the midfield .. wide left #11 (O'Neil CIC 88-90) ;D ...#10 (Maradona) was just your best midfielder or forward period.. #9 (Careca) was your bong to score man (ie. Ian Rush) .. my references reflect the influence of 80's football..The other men was wearing #6 and #8 (in a 4-4-2 system) ...

I agree that the traditional system adds a class to the game ... any number above 20 is mess!

Let's put another spin on it:  In a 2-2-1 formation (2 def - 2mids - 1 forward) ...who is your top 5?

Uprising 5 (of the top):

Nesta / Ledley King
Riquelme / Gilberto
Ronaldinho

Remember people..picking a top 5 is a hard thing ..after all we are talking about "the Beautiful Game" that we all love forever..very subjective ..as it relates to "what we look for in a good player".."what entertains us" ...

In my opinion Rooney has a better overall game than Henry at this time..I just like the fact that he is fearless and has fire in him ..Henry on this "saga boy ting" .... which puts him on my top 10 ...

Also I would add Kaka to my list (in a tie with Deco)..

So (not in order) ..

Ronaldinho
Rooney
Riquelme
Eto'o
Deco / Kaka
