Some nice play in spurts. Pace a little to fast for us.
Like this team really have to play teams along the likes of Guyana so we can at least gel, possess the ball, execute a game plan and hopefully score some goals before we try to take on these high calibre teams that have us chasing shadows for majority of the game. If we're rebuilding we have to progressively take on better opponents and go from strength to strength, as the saying goes, we have to creep before we walk. Overall we came away with a respectable result but we still have a long way to go.

We settled down as the game progressed, if we can connect on a few more passes in the 2nd half and open up Chile's defense, we'll give a decent showing.

I am glad that TNT is getting a game with Chile. But overall, the game comes at a invaluable time. This game would have been better for TNT if it was played as a preparation for a World cup Qualifier, instead of always playing teams like Grenada, Guyana or St Kitts. These teams might give a good game but they do not prepare TNT for big opposition. Imagine if TNT can get opposition like this regularly, sure they might lose but other teams will probably want to play.

If the b team lose badly, it will give the "serious" teams more reason not to play TNT and/or to only play them when they a whipping boy.

« on: April 22, 2010, 07:42:17 PM »
is just dem jablo fans full ah bugios supporters who doh want tuh dirty dey hands. if dat was carenarge united or st.francios nationals, dem byoi would still been up in the eric williams medical complex under IV drops.

JC,
I disagree with you here. First of all we don't know how much fans was in the stadium. Like I said if it had a thousand or 2, we could not tell. But the way PR was getting on, it appears that there was not much fans in the stadium. This game played in Arima not Aranguez where their fan base is situated. 20 yrs ago I could see Jab fans going to Arima to see their team. Not this generation. Next things, Jab. from Bourg malatrasse/San Juan area. They ain't dirt poor but they ain't bourgoise as far as can remember.

Fuh ah fella who hate violence in football, having lost a best friend to gang warfare at the end of a game. I see where where JC is coming from. I played for St. Francois Nationals from U12 all the way to the senior team and our supporters don't take shit from nobody, not even when we play Police. I've seen referees, opposing teams, opposing team supporters, etc. get into numerous altercations from our supporters in the savannah, mahica oval, PSA grounds, you name it. Is big stone, bottle, corner flag, whatever....nothing to be too proud of but if it was St. Francois playing trust me, according to JC somebody might've been under IV drops. Thanks god it wasn't my team in that fiasco.

Football / Re: Who de hell Terry Fenwick think he is?
« on: April 20, 2010, 02:43:23 PM »
After watching it again, the ref did his job in issuing the red cards but it's hard for me to tell who's at fault or why the whole brawl started after the match because it looked like both teams were exchanging words and a River Plate player attacker our keeper, then de shit get out of hand or maybe I'm really blind. I know all about standing up for your players and defending your team but when things goes to the extreme and gun shot firing by police and shit something must be done by our league administration.
Just last August in a college football game, in fact the opening game for Oregon, at the end of the game a player from the other team taunted the Oregon player during an exchange of words. That lead to the Oregon player to retaliate and punch the player, now eventhough the Oregon guy didn't start it he got banned for the entire season my his institution. However he showed remorse, appoliged by stating it wasn't called for and still showed committment by attending practice sessions and going to class. Afterwards they admitted him back on the team to play mid way through the season and he was a senior with high draft potential for the NFL. Now his lack of controlling if temper/emotions might've cost him millions since his stock might've dropped from lack of playing time who knows.
It's hard for me to sit and type about the situation when I wasn't involved in the heat of the moment and I know it is almost impossible to take a jump kick from an opposing player but things escalated to that extreme I still believe the league or Jabloteh have to make a stand and show that they do not tolerate this type of behavior from their players. If the River Plate team have any sort of expectations in regards to conduct from their players, they should do the same!

« on: April 20, 2010, 11:45:20 AM »
This reminds me of the "Malace in the Palace". This behavior is highly unacceptable!!!! By Glen, Fenwick and all other players involved. Let's see how serious our league is in putting out and maintaining a professional image and if they really want to be taken seriously by FIFA and other investors. I think Dexter Skeene or who ever is in charge needs to review the tapes and discipline all our players involved including the coach, whether it be fines, suspensions, etc. because this cannot be tolerated no matter who's right or wrong. He need to take a Roger Goodell stance and lay the hammer down because as a fellow Trinidadian, that is embarassing to watch and is a disgrace to the sport. As a professional or even as a sportsman for the matter you have to learn to keep your emotions in check (easier said than done) and let the officials to their job, if they don't file a protest to the committee but that got way out of hand IMO.

Football / Re: Dwarika at North East
« on: April 18, 2010, 01:10:21 PM »
I don't think it's a matter of Dwarika fans,it's about Football because Dwight and Latas could of play Football until they about fifty and nobody would have talk about nobody should pick them up,this is about business Jabloteh try the same thing with Whitley and it backfired.

Wheather he drinks or not at one time Dwarika carried our country's Football on his back and still at his age i don't think it have many that are better than him,his attitude has certainly let him down but don't take away his ability to play from him and that's what Sancho is all about.

I can understand these teams picking up a player or two with a little name to bolster their attendance, all those Pro league teams have a mixture of players like that, why are we so eager to condemn players,i see Romario,Ronaldo,Roberto Carlos etc still playing ball in Brazil, people still want to see these guys.

Coop's in form again.  :beermug: Wisdom for de youts to digest

« on: March 21, 2010, 10:14:59 PM »
I don't know where the poverty line lies but being a professional athelete and earning 20K per year in 2010 is :bs:
Furthermore there are players on developmental contracts making 12-13K and living in places like LA and DC, even more :bs:
Then again some people love the game and will play under those conditions but the MLS can't be paying those players that types of salaries so I support these players with the strike.
