WarriorKing I agree with what you say....players too need to take some responsibility but if KJ as you say is overated and has no touch, then don't play KJ or anyone else who don't give full effort....because it's the coach who ends up looking bad in the end. My question to you is why did the team look organized, well prepared and gave full effort under Beenie and not Mats?
My opinion is our team need a coach who takes full charge of the team and makes is own decisions despite what anyone says media or public), one who's not afraid to call out a player for not performing but at the same time will praise players for playing with purpose, one who can prepare us to utilize our strengths while improving on our weaknesses. A no nonsense coach who will always have their players back, in the likes of Beenie, Jose Murinho or even Pat Summit (I know she's women's basketball) but that woman had her team practicing the next day after they lost in the NCAA tournament because she claimed the other team wanted it more and that's the kind of individual our team needs in charge. Again that's my perspective and if you disagree, respect still  :beermug:

I went to the game, took two days off work and drive for 10 hrs each way, so i ent go lie, I went to soak in de entire experience. Well as for the game, dat was a different story, but sticking to the matter at hand. I went to the hotel after the game and the players were depressed, is de first time I ever see Dwight so down for a man who's always smiling and showing he pearly whites. One ah we players told me "doh worry, we go qualify" (rather bold statement) and that something is going to change in the camp, he didn't want to get into too much detail bc it was it was after de players locker room talk and I could respect dat, if dey wanted to keep it in house....he too was gutted and embarassed but humble in his expressions. I thought the few fans who showed up to meet them definately lifted their spirits.
I went to the lime afterwards, like I said I drove 10 hrs each way so I was taking en everything and whey I living de place I does hear soca is in meh car. During de session 6 players came through, and from what I saw earlier they really needed to unwind. I'm sure they were highly embarassed coming in there but de promoter guranteed de players were going to be there so some came, he didn't lie :beermug:. Never the less the mingled with the fans, ppl rush tuh take pics with dem whole night (I can see that being fraustrating after a while) but they never turned anyone down, and was cool with everybodyh. I even see a man drag he gyal to wine up on Carlos, bess ting tuh boot and ah say nah dis man mad....but Carlos showed some respect and give she a "social wine" but if it was me it mighta been a different story  .
In spite ah de loss, I not really mad at dem fellas for showing up, dey still came and hung out and mingled with the fans despite the poor performance. I didn't think they had a don't care attitude about their performance and the result but to me they were trying to let off some steam after an emotionally draining day and I can understand dat. What I care about is how we show up to play as a team and the effort we put forth on de field.....Not Acceptable!!! And some thing or things have to change now for the next game. Mexico done making changes already and is dem fellas we have next....who ever making decisions fuh de team in terms of player selection, team preparation, head coach, etc. shoulda ah be inside wuking dat night because it starts at the top and they hold the ultimate responsibility for our team and the personnel they put in place.

See Jaden the funny thing about coaching is you have to find the right fit, just like ah gyal  ;D. What I'm trying to say is you may not be able to get each team you coach to respond the way you want them to, as we saw when Beenie as in charge our team rose to another level now under Mats, it's not the same, as I think we look mediocre at best. Who knows Maturana maybe able to look like a world class coach with another country where is philosophy and style works but to me I don't think he's the right fit for us at the moment. Who knows if he and Beenie switches it might be a win/win situation for both countries :)

Football / Re: I could ask alyuh something bout Keon Daniel
« on: March 30, 2009, 10:13:50 PM »
Keon is a very talented player who I think needs some grooming at the international level. As a youngster he made an impressive start for T&T but right now we need most players behind the ball in defence and ball winners in the center of the park. If we had generals in the back line with a solid defensive mid and wide players who can track back then we can put a player like Keon in the center to showcase his magic but at the moment from what I'm seeing, he's best suited for us on the left since we have to place players in positions that can help the team the most. I'm not saying he wont be a good central mid but he should embrace playing on the left and gain experience at this level because in a couple years he might be the man our offense flows through.

Babbaboy I agree with you on the fact that it is evident that our team is not playing to our potential as we did in WC'06 and unfortunately the coach is the one who has the ultimate responsibility of ensuring our players are prepared and perform well. As Palos said these coaches need to be someone who can handle ego's and can earn our players full respect, I'm not saying Maturana is sh#* ??? but he's not getting us to perform as we should. I do not have the answer of who should coach us but we should've been sitting on top of the table with 6 points. And I cannot understnd why Daryl Roberts and Julius James is not on our squad, is it because of selection politics? These fellas well disciplined and talented and are playing at a higher level than most of our current players.

ahm..is coach Leo still coachin Poland, he might come available soon, specially afetr they lorse to N.Irl today...not sure T&T would benefit from his expertise dis time around doh..buh we like to pelt money at ppl, so wha I know

I don't mean it have to be Leo but someone of his calibre who can instill some organization, disipline and a sense of purpose in our team. I don't know who at this point but quite frankly we should've been on top of the group with 6 points. We need a coach who can bring some structre in our pattern of play, then our creativity can flow once we're organized. Since the last world cup it's like we took 2 steps forward and like 10 backward, nothing against Mats but I don't think he's suited for T&T.....we need someone who demands performance and one who can instill it in our players, maybe Bill Parcels should come coach us through the advice of Latapy. Forgive meh again, ah still vex! It must be because ah watch Portugal vs Sweden and then watch T&T vs Honuras :-\

Too many unforced errors and unnessesary blunders by our team. I don't think I even saw us put together 5 consecutive passes, maybe once and at this level we can't cut it like that or else we're not going anywhere. Our defence was shakey, Honduras attacking players were getting around and behind us too easy and at time it seems like we would panic and voom kick the ball up the field hoping it goes to one of our players when we do win it. At the start of the second half one of the Hondurans missed a golden opportunity from a cross ball and headed it wide due to our bad marking and I noticed 3 players pointing and blaming each other....no accountability and lack of responsibility and that I think is a serious problem and a sign of indiscipline.
I really think we need a coach like Leo to organize this team again and prepare this team for our future matches, one who will ensure that our guys do what is required, like defend our goal with heart and play with some pride! I know our players are capable of playing much better than how we've been....too many poor decisions and bad passing, it's hurtful to watch at times and sad thing is these guys all play professionally  :-\
Thank God Honduras did not play their best tonite as well, else we would have been coming away with zero points.......I'm a die hard fan, through thick and thin but it's time for us to be held accountable and turn things around! We were damn lucky to come away with a draw but then again 1+1 is not always 2.
Don't mean to sound too critical but ah venting cuz ah still vex...forgive meh

In college we had a red shirt called the "wanker shirt" and everyday in practice someone had to wear for either playing a pile, missing goals, taking beat, doing sh#*, etc. and it was up to captains, coaches and seniors discretion, so everyone in practice uniforms and one man standing out in a red wanker shirt (over his practice gear of course). To make things worse it only gets at the end of the season and maybe once half way through the season, so dat does be stink after a few weeks. It was a motivator as everyone used to compete at a high level not to wear that, esp when the season come close to an end and it smelling rancid. From what I was told, it was a tradition started by the English players back in the early ninties and still going strong, same shirt to boot. But the nightie ting is ah different story but I understand the coach's philosophy behind it.

I really can't say that it was Stern's fault we lost but I do know from experience, when you're 3 goals down in a game, it's a daunting task to get back into the game, especially if you concede the 3rd one within the first 5 mins of the 2nd half. Could they have come back? Who knows but the crowd would've been out of it , the coached might have pulled his top players out to save them from cards so they're available for the next game, ES players might have given up, and the list goes on and on.
But the main thing I'm hurt about is why de hell Stern balsted that ball over the bar from a penalty! I mean put the ball on target and at least make the keeper save, had it rebounded it's all for Jesus and we might have still have a chance to score. I mean we saw Baggio and many other top players try to go for upper corner and end result, over bar most times....why do we always try to look pretty and aim for the V's or jep nest? This is a WC qualifier, play it safe like Dwight did and you have a better chance of scoring. I've seen men collect bottle in fete match for trying to look pretty kicking pk's and missing...and my point is these players know better!!!
If Maturana told Dwight he is the one responsible for all penalties and Stern still ask him to kick, shows indiscipline on the team and no respect for the coaches orders. I'm sure if Leo told Dwight the same, no player, Carlos, KJ, Stern or even Birchall would have gone to Dwight and asked. However several other factors led to us losing as well and I'm still heart broken....I won't lie, I love the warriors but they always put me through pain and grief. Guess that's part of the passion for the game I guess...it might help me in building character. Anyways on to fight Honduras, de journey now start!!!
