Prior to the revelation of this squad, I made a list of 10 players who I viewed as indispensable to success. 7 of the 10 are in this squad. Another 6 players I expected to be selected although I don't regard them as indispensable. That's 13 players out of 26. 50% return of the included. Not exactly compelling.
Now I'm curious as to who the 7 and 3 players are

We have to stop blaming the coaches of this team and look closely at the collective lack of quality within the squad. We need better administration, infrastructure and programming to develop better quality players. We haven’t produced good players and as a result each coach we put in keeps getting blamed when the team disappoints. Stop looking at the coaches and start looking at the quality of players available.

How much more quality was required? We were the more experienced team.
I'm no TF fan, ever since he hit that youth player in his head back in the day, he lost my respect not to mention that salary he demanded for this job.
In the first 25mins of the game we should've been up 3-0. We missed some sitters. It did show we were the more experienced team and we were able to break them down. I left and came back at the 70th minute and shocked the game was still 0-0 so can't really comment there. Despite the lack of tactical adjustments, are the players not to take some blame for their performance in terms of missed chances?

we are eliminated !!!!!!!!!!
The rebuilding begins now, there needs to be change.
what reee you talking about? they need to build full stop. start by putting a solid league together and getting the ministry or some benevolent foreigner to build a few academies because heaven knows that theTTFA ain’t gonna do it.
I hear you and we do need to build but we should focus on the youths now, I think it's time to part ways with some of older players. I actually agree with you in the set-up of academies but we can take a blueprint of countries like Iceland and invest in youth coaches being certified with on-going training. Maybe have them pay and refund them after 6 months of steady coaching so we know it's going to use. I say the focus should be younger players. Time we do it the right way.

His dad lost his birth paper and doesn't seem interested in getting it, hence he cannot get a passport, Nick wants to play for us.
So can someone else help him in getting his birth paper or does it have to be his dad? I'm not sure how that works.

I just thought I'd resurrect this topic to see if anyone plays FM on the site!
I've overheard ppl speaking about football manager but I honestly have no clue what it is. Is it a video game?

Yea, you can manage a football team from a whole host of countries - all the major ones and a large number of others. You buy/sell the players, pick the tactics set the training, and manage the players. You don't play like FIFA, so it really is a managers game.

You can have the game cover what you don't want to too - they can do transfers etc. It's pretty addicting but not that easy to get into honestly
I don't play video games anymore but this sounds like something I can get into.

Champions League final today: Barcelona vs Chelsea at 3:00pm TT.

Maybe available here.

(non-UK)
According to Chelsea's coach (who I have much respect for) they lost the game before it started. The game was basically over in 20 mins, Barca game out firing and that Chelsea team is no joke. After the game they spoke about how much Barca invested into that team in terms of coaching in the last 2 years and look at the dividends this season, those ladies have been playing entertaining football.

We might need VAR.
Tough one, those guys really gave their all. I haven't been following the futsal developments but from the looks of things we just have to get use to it and find the right set of players for this style of game. Also we have to bring a certain "nasty" to our game. In both games against DR and Gua those guys grabbed, pulled, dived, scraped, took cheap shots, pretty much did anything to give them an edge. From my experience that's how most Latin teams play and we need to add that element to our game since most teams get away with it.

Link for viewing the match versus Dominican Republic. Hopefully it works. 10pm TT time.
:beermug: worked great, good quality. Unfortunately we lost 6-2. I tuned in 2nd half when we were down 3-0 and chasing the game to get some goals, in doing so it left us exposed in the back. Looks like we have something to build on with this team despite the results.

Wow RIP Clyde. I remember when we played USA in Nashville in 2009. When we went to the team hotel after the game, he came out and spoke to us in the lobby. My partner was venting to him and Clyde did his best to reassure him that the team will turn things around. Seemed like a cool fella.

The Soca Warriors were handed BOL kits before their opening Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying fixture against Guyana on 25 March and refused to wear them due to concerns about the quality. Instead, the team continued to play with Joma kit, although the TTFA’s contract with that company expired over two years ago.
The quality does look suspect, looks like merchandise for a recreational/fete match team.

No bluff!
Perez was the mouthpiece, Tampa Bay Bucs and Boston Red Sox were the main drivers.

What the NFL and MLB both have is self governance. The owners select their commish.
The NFL/MLB owners get all the money, and don't have to share anything with a UEFA or FIFA.
The Euro Super Leag, thanks to the Bucs and Red Sox would have been run the same way as
the NFL and MLB.
So, why all of a sudden did it fall apart?
Man City, mid-East owners, Chelsea, Putin patnah. Man U, Arsenal and Livpool, US owners who
have no idea how deep football runs in the veins of UK fans, NO IDEA!!! Daft as the day is long.
Spurs, they came along for the ride, and the green being talked about.

This was dead, IMHO, from the time it was announced.
UEFA and FIFA would have banned all the players from all competitions. The Spanish, Italian, and
definitely the English FA, would have put the sword to each team in the 3 leagues.

Can this happen again? 100% YES!
How do you minimize the possibility of a recurrence 5, 10 years down the road?
Not sure, but measures have to be put in place.

Is a PR talking about dropping out of the league good enough? Or should each of the Prem Leag
teams face some type of punishment?
No, it is not good enough, and yes, each one needs to be penalized, punished, fined, points deducted,
you name it, it needs to happen!

This is the biggest bluff in football.  The negative PR and the possibility of players not being allowed to play in the WC could derail this venture.  I for one don't know how FIFA could ban a player for his/her owner's actions.  Dock points, forfeit games, sure but preventing players from playing in the WC is ludicrous.  The audacity of FIFA to play the morality card is a joke and that goes for UEFA too.  My guess is that the Champions League will have a larger number of teams and more revenue will be poured into it.  That's what the leagues have been wanting anyway...a more lucrative Champions League.  I am a Man United fan and I would be very disappointed if this ESL happens and they join it.  I will still wear the colours but with a heavy heart.
Not too sure about bluff, from all accounts it seems like Joel Glazer and Fiorentina Perez and willing to push through with that despite the negative PR. UEFA made their sanctions clear now let's see what the English FA and British government does, they've expressed their disregard about the move towards the six clubs now let's see if they'll sanction them. It will be interesting to see the players response, if they'll find ways to terminate their contracts amidst UEFA's threats and play for other clubs or if they'll follow the money.
I'm against this and once again these American owners and their agenda trying to bring the American franchise model in the super league in an elitist format will take away from the "purity" of the game where the West Ham's and the Leicester's a fair chance of earning to right to participate in the league. Just like most American sports, the teams having bad seasons will tank or go through the motions as there's no consequence for a losing season.

Ah even more pissed. One of the things that irked me about this match is that we failed to test the keeper repeatedly ... I elaborated on why privately. Well, guess what! He just called quits on his playing career.

Great send off.

He retired? Don't know if it was just me but with all due respect, that keeper seemed to be a bit heavy but we had him looking like Buffon.

T&T player tested positive before Guyana showdown

Final Warm up T&T’s defender Radanfah Abu Bakr, left, warms up with the his team-mates ahead of Thursday's crucial World Cup Qualifying match against Guyana in the Dominican Republic from 7 pm tonight. It will be the opening match for both teams in Group F.

Courtesy TTFA Media

It will be a showdown in Santo Domingo on Thursday night at, 7 pm T&T's Soca Warriors will be up against Guyana at the Pan American Stadium in San Cristobal.

However, there appears to be some level of uncertainty about if the match will be played or not, after a T&T player tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) after PCR testing was done on all members of the team contingent on Wednesday.

According to the TTFA release: "The individual tested positive and was immediately isolated at the team’s hotel. All Covid-19 protocols are being followed and he is presently awaiting a re-test for confirmation purposes."

Guardian Media Sports was informed on Wednesday that the player will be re-tested on Thursday and if the test comes back positive a decision will have to be made.

The release continued: "Strict contact tracing was then performed and all primary contacts have been quarantined, they would then be tested accordingly following the player's re-test results. The player is asymptomatic at this time. The TTFA also respects the confidentiality wishes of the player."

In the meanwhile and staying match focused, T&T has now dismissed the torture of a loss of home advantage as the game was expected to be T&T's home game, and the players are now singing, in one chorus, the need to get maximum points from the contest.

Coach Terry Fenwick will not be at full-strength but will be more than 75 per cent ready, with most of his overseas-based professionals back, namely Levi Garcia (club AEK Athens), midfielder Sheldon Bateau (Mechelen), Aubrey David (Deportivo Saprissa), Khaleem Hyland (Al Batin), Daniel Phillips (Watford), Nicklas Frenderup (Stjørdals-Blink- Norway), Radanfah Abu Bakr (Churchill Brothers- India), and Ronald Primus who also plays in India.

They will all join forces with an equally determined bunch of local players that will be led by talented midfielder Duane Muckette.

on Wednesday, both Hyland and Garcia told the media that the game will be a tough one, but they believe the team will come away winners. According to Hyland: "It will be a difficult game. It;'s the first game of the World Cup qualifiers. Guyana is a tough team from the last Gold Cup game. I did not play that game but from watching from the stands, they have a lot of players in the lower teams in Europe. And they're a team that's trying to be at the level as T&T, so we know we have a tough clash."

The Guyanese held T&T to a 1-1 tie in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2019 in the United States, and have since recruited Brazilian coach Marcio Maximo for the qualifiers.

The defensive midfielder admits the challenging times being posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but said, football is now taking place with the pandemic so they have to focus on the task ahead, saying "Tomorrow is a very important game for us. We need to do our jobs and let God do the rest."

Meanwhile, Garcia who has just returned from an injury is eager to deliver. "I am really excited, it has been a while, so I really want to deliver, and most importantly, try to get as many victories as possible. We all know that there is no easy game and as a team, we're trying to gel together, deliver what the coach is trying to implement, and hopefully, we can get together tomorrow and get a victory."

Today's opening match will be followed by another three days later against Puerto Rico on March 28. T&T is playing out of Group F alongside the Puerto Ricans, the Guyanese, Bahamas and St Kitts/Nevis, with only the winning team advancing to the second round of the qualifiers.

T&TMen's Senior Team Squad

Another good listen. Enjoyed that.
Yes that was a fantastic interview. It was good to hear some his insights during his tenure as the NT coach, never heard him open up like that before. I enjoyed the part about the game in Argentina and Messi in particular, just watched him score 2 incredible goals today. I will say it again, ppl may not have liked some of our results in the Hex but under Hart was best the NT looked since Leo.
