Primus- one for the future- seriously

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I saw him play in the u20 WC, he looks  to have the potential to develop into a very good defender.

Heard someone say he never smiles and always looks sour- possibly he's trying to emulate Vidic at ManU.

Carlos and them free kicks!!!!

yeah, i find that is rel nonsense, he is a really good player, but the coach should designate the best freekick taker to take priority according to where the freekick is. Not the most authoritative man on the field taking all, no matter how lacking he is at freekicks. that is shit

Baptiste throw way 2 sitters already.  Where KJ??

If is one thing it obvious that Baptiste KNOWS where to position himself to get in a scoring position. Every game he's played he has scored (1) but more important put himself in a position to score. KJ simply don't do that. He definitely more suited to the English game. Same as Yorke was

He just unscore another...We would be up 3-nil if KJ and Zamora were starting

true trinimassive, baptiste has good positioning, but that chance just now, you just have to at least get that no target.

We should always have a creative midfielder on the field, unless we're playing some really strong team and need to play more conservatively.

What if the opposition decides to mark that "creative midfielder" out the game?  What then?

I also wonder who this "creative midfielder" would be?  Hardest?  Guerra?  Dwarika?  Daniel?  Who?

Just curious.

I saying a good while i feel Keon Daniel will be a very good creative midfielder in the center for us. Why? He can play better through balls than almost all our players and can generally pass better, and has plenty skills which allows him to create space and pass. I feel he will excell playing a role simular to Riquelme(a creative midfielder who relies on his skills to create space make up for his lack of speed), though I'm obviously not comparing their playing skills, but he's young and his game can develop if he's guided correctly.

It's also a position where he wouldn't have to run as much as when playing winger, as running is obviously not his specialty- he looks like he's running in vat of molasses. I still find he doesn't look anywhere close to optimal fitness, if  he does some proper weight training and gets fitter overall, his energy levels on the field will greatly increase.

Is it too late to include Yannick in de squad against Mexico?

Ah mean....a dynamite forward with pace & surreal finishing ability?  He bong to score against Mexico.

You joking right palos? Those attributes he has are relative to where he's playing, would he be described as such in the EPL? The difference between college football and full international football is enormous. Few are able to translate playing a good and effective under less pressure to doing so under the greatly heightened pressure of international football or even more so a bigger league like the EPL or La Liga. Only through intensely hard work and mental focus, among other factors -like being developed in an environment of high football standards, though being more mentally focus and working even harder could make up for this( but of course it's much harder and therefore rarer)-, could one achieve this.

I really wish this Yannick fella the best though and it'll be nice if he could turn out to be a good player for us.

« on: October 08, 2009, 01:37:23 AM »
Well concacaf teams don't seem to fear him. What Knewayne needs to show is aggression that is what is lacking from his game. I look at the way Drogba goes after every ball that's near him pushing and fighting his way through opposition and at least trying to get a shot off, or just taking a half chance. If Kenwayne adopts that kind of hunger then I will start making such comparisons.

Very true, aggression is distinctly and sorely lacking from his game. I think if he can add that, it will really take his game to the next level.

Also, to add to what I posted about our midfield. We have some good midfield players(if the best are chosen), who work hard and can play well, but just need to be organised better to function as more of a unit. Besides proper organisation and rooting out all the bacchanal that goes on with our football that disrupts the team, one of the easily recognizable crucial aspects that is missing in our team is a midfield playmaker(like Latapy). Most of our midfielders aren't creative type players, and mostly pass the ball sideways or long.

Even big teams struggle to create good chances sometimes if they're playing more conservatively and without a creative midfielder, so much more for us. Most times they'll rely on scoring on the counter- which requires speed/and or accurate and decisive passing from the entire team, and not boomkicking out of defense, something that's unrealistic for our team atm. (not entirely down to the players' inability, but also because of the relative disorganisation of our football hierarchy and coaching, stunts our team from developing to the point where they can play that effectively)

We should always have a creative midfielder on the field, unless we're playing some really strong team and need to play more conservatively.

All a alyuh criticising Kenwyne for not scoring for T&T is jokers- get out of your delusionary state, and stop seeking a scapegoat to deflect from confronting the hard truth of sub-par nature of our team.(if the right players are picked and organised, we have the potential to be a very effective TEAM though)

The clear and blatant problem is that t&t midfielders can barely play a decent final ball(proper pacy and accurate cross, through ball or pass to striker in opp. box). Sunderland midfielders- though not the best- can, especially the new guys this season(cattermole, cana). Of the literally one or two good final balls our team may play for a game, people expect the strikers to score every one.

Even the very best goalscorers won't score much on a team that can barely create ANY decent chances for them. Like another poster above said, our team is more like a collection of players wearing the same kit, they don't play together effectively. We have always had good strikers, but our midfield usually is sorely sub-par, so the defenders are left exposed and the strikers barely get any good final balls played to them. The only strikers who score for us are the type that can drop deeper and go forward and score, and not depend on the midfield.(e.g. Stern John- the guy so many ungrateful trinis deride)

A good midfield is supposed to consistently be able to create decent chances, our's anything but does that consistent. If strikers miss a chance, they're supposed to be able to pick themselves up and keep probing the opposition to get chances through to the striker, and even a half decent striker will likely eventually score a few.(And our strikers aren't just half decent, they're pretty good)
We act like our strikers are supposed to convert every of the one or two half chances our midfield could muster each match.

Even players like ronaldo and messi need a good team around them to perform effectively- just look what is going on with their national teams and wc2010 qualification.

You all need to wake up, and confront the hard truth that our team's problems go much deeper than you all want to admit. We always think our teams are better than they are and seek to blame one or two individuals for our failures-and that's a big part of our problems. We need to look at things honestly to solve our problems, and not take the easy, illogical and small-man ways out.(that won't get us anywhere of course, as evidenced our current state)

look like you fooled man cause Hennessy wasn't saving that slow thing to save he life...

Say Hennessy couldn't reach it... that is obvious, but KJ get lucky because Hennessy was flat-footed when he strike it, dai'z de only reason that thing score.  Obviously he wasn't beaten by the pace and considering that KJ didn't even look up at the goal before he struck it I doh see how anybody could argue that that wasn't luck.

I ent taking nutten from Kenwyne... sometimes it better to be lucky than good.  No harm in admitting that.

Watch all the better strikers, they don't have to look up to score no goal.  They know exactly where they are on the field and angles keepers will be at, is not just so men does become strikers. Strikers are trained to not raise their head and finish.
To say it lucky is to take everythig away from KJ, it was a good goal from a great strike. It looked exactly like he knew what he was doing.

Thank you elan, you saved me from having to write the exact same thing.  Like elan said, strikers know exactly where the post is, and if you ever played football, you'll know how much of an exact thing striking the ball is- you don't strike from that distance into the corner by luck. It was the decent amount of pace and the placement that beat the keeper, by the time he saw it coming from past his defenders late he couldn't react and move fast enough to reach it because of the precise closeness to the post Kenwyne placed it at.  When you hit a with that accuracy to the post, there's always a chance of scoring against the keeper- if you claim it was because the keeper got caught flat footed, you still can't write off the man's goal as luck- it's more him having the skill to take advantage of the keeper's slight slip up. There's no  way you call that luck, luck is a goal going in off your backside.

For numerous reasons I believe, many people on here seem to want things to go bad with Kenwyne and get a thrill out of that, wanting him to be "put in his place", and when that doesn't happen some people seem annoyed. Some reasons: him not scoring for us causes jealousy when he scores for Sunderland(a team that, though not close to the best, can actually create scoring chances for him in a match without primarily relying on lucky defensive mistakes ala T&T NT) , some people finding that he's some black boy from Trinidad who doesn't deserve all the money and recognition he's getting and wonder why he made it and not them/ some player they like/d, and grind with envy because of this.  It's not unique to here though, plenty people all over get a thrill out of habitually putting down others, guess it makes them feel bigger in a small minded small-man kind of way.

Many of you underestimate the hard work and skill that goes into anyone making it in the EPL, and the toughness and ability to perform under pressure, that Kenwyne has(and has shown) and many(prob. most) of our other players don't have, despite the many aspects of his game he has to work on and really appears to be doing because of the improvement this season.

Saw someone else say he must be reading the forums and that's why he hit that strike- he doesn't give a crap about everyone on here, and rightly so with the jealous dislike that fuels many people on here comments, rather than unbiased critiquing. There's a big difference between the two- the former breaks you down rather than helping you.

Happy to see Daryl Roberts scored. Props brudder!

If Clarence dont start the next game the coach is an imp!

Oh and De Sliva should be water boy!
Tough...not fair. He had a bad game but he's still young.  Give the man a bligh nah....jeeze.....
Tough? Sport is dog eat dog and about winning. Until we adopt that mentality we will continue to be 'plucky losers'. He go get a bligh when he put in a better performance than today. I seriously thought he did not want to get his white strip dirty.

So you see the man play one game and ready to banish him forever? Doh mind all the good games he had in the qualifiers and warm-up games, all the goals he scored, etc. This one game for you define him as the worst ting in a tugs

... and on the flip side we see a man play one good game and he is a better crosser than anything on our national team?  ::)

If you know about football you can look at the type of crosses Jake played- the pace on them, loop and curl behind the defense and away from the keeper- right between the two-consistently and accurately finding our players in the box- and know you could count on one hand the number of our senior players that can even deliver one of those type crosses in a match, and you can also count on one hand the number of matches you've seen any of them deliver more than one of those type of crosses. Which of our players have you seen hit consistent top quality crosses of that type throughout ANY one match?

Looking at the way you could see him calculating before he crossed, you see he has it worked out in his mind and know exactly what he's doing- and isn't hit-n-hope like most of our players, float it in when it's supposed to be hit with pace, or cross it to the keeper consistently(or more like how most of our players are trained), so even if he messes up crosses in other matches- you know he actually has the ability to hit that type of cross at least a few times single match- unlike almost all of our players.

Of course a good player is much more than having being a great crosser of the ball- just look at David Bently at tottenham, but this Jake fella showed more than that, and if he keeps on developing his game and himself physically(he looks very fit, but needs to bulk up a bit-like Theo Walcott has done, he looks a bit too small and weak for top level football- he'll prob. get pushed aside a bit too easily), I can really see him making it in England, I just really hope he overlooks the chaos that goes on in T&T football and decides to play for our senior team.

Carlos is a great player, but I maintain that the only reason I feel he didn't make it into the EPL sooner and stayed there is the lax way our players are taught to cross the ball, hit-n-hope. That's not tolerated in the top leagues- the ball being too off target must be an anomaly- cause unlike us-to them crossing isn't a 50-50 dice roll. There'll be the few players top players that are excellent at it and have consistent Beckham-like accuracy, but all players are expected to at least get the ball pretty close to or exactly on target consistently.

Also, give DeSilva a break, the guy just had a bad game, he looked nervous too, he has plenty time to step up his game, he's still young after all.
Excellent assessment...thank you :beermug: :beermug: :beermug:

thanks man :beermug :beermug:: You from arima, I from arima, goal scorer JeanLuc Rochford from Arima- big ups Arima lol:beermug:

he does do plenty shit, but he has done alot to progress our football also, so I appreciate that, but i damn vex and dislike him for things like the blacklist, etc. so give and take I think people should still show the man some appreciation. I think part of plenty of people's hate for him is partly due to jealousy- you can't jealous someone's hard work- you don't become a doctor and the vice president of Fifa by accident- and especially as a black man(particularly african) in this world you don't get anything rest on you lap and have to work even harder than white peeps, so people have to stop the jealous hate. I for one am proud of seeing a black Trinbagonian as the vice president of FIFA and respect the hard work he must have had to put in to reach where he is now.

I admit Mr Jack doesn't do much to help his case- with all the corruption allegations against him, and that disgusting black list( which gets me enraged just thinking about it), but through all the things he's done that merit dislike for him(guy aint no friggin saint at all-obviously), like I said he's still done many things for our football development that's very commendable, more than most people.(of course he's shot us in the foot a few times along the way too) He deserves appreciation and lambasting in my opinion.

only thing JT is simular to in Birchall is both a them being English, but in terms of football Jake is gonna be miles better than him, and probably is already better. That boy is crossing the ball excellently.

I hope Latas cap him as soon as possible, cause when he see the shit that does be going on in T&T football, he might decide duck out from playing for the senior side and run back to England and fight it out to play for their senior team eventually- he definitely looks like he has the talent and skill to eventually get a chance there if he keeps developing. Thing is I want really want him to play for the senior side, but I know how much stress this is gonna cause the boy in his career at the same time- I almost feel bad for wanting Latas to tie him down lol.

Don't be coming down on, deriding speaking exaggerated negatives about our OWN player like that, All a allyuh ride out. you talk rel SHIT there jai john, a good few EPL team will happily buy Kenwyne if the opportunity presented itself. Sure he has to get his head down and put in determined work to improve, but i get the feeling the main reason many of his detractors seem to almost wish bad on him and are seemingly happy at there being some negative turn of events for him clubwise is because of a kind of spitefulness at him because he doesn't score for our national team. Plenty of this animousity towards Kenwyne is kind of jealousy, that says something like, "why did HE make it in England (for numerous reasons people would think he's underserving of this and be jealous of him making it England, much more for in the EPL, and of him making all that money- you all can figure them out) " when others did not, so those people want to see him "put in his place" and dream up and long for different negative scenarios that would fullfill this desire, no matter how exaggerated- to bring them a type of malevolent and small-man fullfillment and joy

Is people like allyuh who was frickin DERIDING Stern John, only to have to eat allyuh words and longingly wish he was in the team when he was out injured and his excellent hold up play was evidently sorely lacking on the on the field. Don't be deriding our players and getting any of allyuh smallminded, vengefull(for his lack of goals for us)  and jealous fullfillment(e.g. i told you all he was shit- everyone else is seeing it now!) out of  things not going too well for them or at hurdles in their careers.

I for one support you Kenwyne, and I can see by looking at the improvement in your first touch this season I can see you're trying to put in work to improve, I still believe you have to push yourself even harder and through doing that you will fullfill your big potential.

In the end I believe things will go well for Kenwyne in his club career. Having  THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SUPPORTING YOU instead Deriding you and getting fullfillment and joy in your misfortune, is one of the worst things for any player, and the majority of the times DOES NOT help the player, as confidence and being mentally settled is ESSENTIAL for a player to perform at his highest possible level, and these things dent and chip away at this-so instead of supporters strenghtening these crucial attributes in their players, they do the opposite and chip away at them. There's a big difference between this and critiquing the player.

now he have more time to bull some more white gyuls.  Ferguson and Keane can go hull dey arse!

Friggin LMAO!!

true.

Dwight Yorke's amazing career and accomplishments as a player with Man Utd has laid down a clear beacon for us to follow in TnT and the Caribbean at large- a beacon that shows that just because you're from a small country, it doesn't mean you have to settle for mediocrity- we must all strive to be Excellent and be the best(worldwide!) in whatever we do, and compare ourselves to the best. Dwight did this and he passed with flying colours. Can you imagine a guy from T&T was the damn TOP SCORER in the Champions League AND the EPL!!, and was the leading player in pushing(with his goals- goals win matches...and he was among the top with in assists too!!) his club to a treble of trophies in a single season- a feat that is among one of the greatest and most prestigious accomplishments in the history of the game.

One word for Dwight Yorke - LEGEND!

A living example of no matter where you come from, how humble your beginnings and how high the odds stacked against you for a plethora of reasons, and no matter your environment, it's up to you what you make of your life(of course it's tremendously harder for some than for others)- anyone and everyone can strive and push for Excellence(putting in hard, diligent, unrelenting and consistent work) and become the among the Best in the World, and that and Dwight is proof of this.

Of course alent is a good part of it, but I believe talent is something like 20% Inspiration and 80% Perspiration. So many people have a heap of so-called talent and don't reach very far in life and in their purpose/career.

In this respect, even besides his awesome football achievements for club and milestones for country , Dwight has left a potent example for everyone in Trinidad, the Caribbean and around the world look at and follow.

Thank you sir...

Why Spann don't let he football do the talking? For a man who played in a World Cup he should be playing for a better club at a higher level.

How come there has not been any news of interest from other clubs? Maybe he has been talking more than earning his living?

As a fan of his father, I hope he makes a move soon because that club is good for a start but not for a career.

Good luck Silvio, but as Trucco said in the Good, the Bad and the Ugly..."Shoot first talk later"

Spann didn't play in the World Cup- remember, he was injured in the months after we qualified... which was perhaps part of the reason he never got the shine or opportunities he deserved.

He still has two legs and good health, he can shine now, but that's up to him and whether he wants to put in hard, unrelenting and consistant work to improve- he definitely has the talent, but not much time left. The ball is in his court.

This is kix...lol. See what Carlos missing out on by being on the bench? Cause locally the girls rank him higher than Kenwyne.

in Trinidad de red man is King...

in England they like de special dark

in Trinidad de red man is King because we still have many aspects of mental slavery to conquer, i.e. the closer to to european you look=the better looking you are. I see many light skin peeps(male and female) who aren't even really good looking, and people fall all over them, but we all know if they were dark skinned with their same features, people wouldn't be on them- so basically lighter skin makes up for lacking looks, gives you a healthy percentage increase on the looks scale.

Other parts of the world like England(though those bitches started slavery in the first place and thus all these problems ), are much more progressed than TnT in recovery from mental slavery, so good features, build, etc. = being good looking, and having lighter skin doesn't amplify those in everyone's eyes. Of course many people still have a preference for people in their race(not talking bout racism here), but that's a whole other story n i don't see any prob with that. Also,I'm what we call a 'redman' btw.

I find the extent to which skin complexion is equated with looks in TnT is shit, and some damn deeprooted mental slavery.(and present in most cultures, from indians, africans, asians, etc, and is mainly stems from the europeans' murderous colonisation of the world, and asserting themselves as the aurthority for so long as we all know, it's up to us to reject and fix the mental falloff of this).........Rant over.
