Rotato,
ya right that the gang violence in Vancouver is bad, but have you not heard of the many high profile gang arrests that have taken place recently.....the last few take downs were shown on TV.......The popo are doing what needs to be done.

The only thing I dont like is they encourage Bars to refuse to serve gang members and recently a palce was shot up and the owner thinks is because he had refuesd service to gang members.....innocent people could have been killled
I was in vancouver in 95, always wanted to go to B.C. since 1990 when i went to vancouver island and fell in love with it. so i finally made up my mind tuh take the 6 hr ride again.

so i'm in vancouver and loving it, i rented a bike and i'm up and down china town, eating by shananigans, and checking out the beaches.

but just then, one night i wanted a little late entertainment so i asked around on where to go, and someone recomended the warehouse.

hear nah!! i was no disappointed that i never went back to vancouver! here i thought i was in ah nice part of the world with nice conscientious ppl, and then boom! old niggers galore.

i was later told by a native american / canadian girl that those guys moved from LA to vancouver.

they moved BC of the law that was passed in california, three strikes you're out!

boyyyy ! hear nah, i've seen my fair share of ignorant folks, in NYC, DC, TRINI, JAMIACA, DOWN SOUTH, but them ppl that night was the most ignorant folks i've ever seen or heard period!!! i left that place and lost my desire tuh party dat night , so i end up in shananigans and that was that!

no wonder the immigration gave me such greif when i got there! it's Bc the ppl that looked like me was destroying their city! boy , some black ppl does really make it hard for the rest of us who just want tuh live ah normal life oui boy.

ah hope dem boys home doh start emulating them clowns , or else our nation will lose all the little values that we have!

LOL! Just cool I agree with you man! I does get rel vex sometimes, when I see ignorant black people shaming de race man!! Damned disgusting.

These friggin basement dwellers want yuh to accept they buggery and if yuh doh accept it they want to chastize yuh . ::) ::) ::)Go away with alyuh buggery far far away.

friggin cosigh zuluwarrior!!!! It's getting friggin ridiculous, how suddenly sodomy is supposed to be accepted like if it's as natural as the heterosexuality that allows human beings to reproduce and go on! It's ridiculous and disgusting. I won't accept that nonsense. I accept that people have complex issues with their sexuality they need to resolve, namely homosexuality, along with other things, but don't try to tell me it should be accepted and acted out, and not sorted out with a psycologist.

Kudos to Miss California, you looked absolutly lovely, and gave and excellent and very true answer, but too bad so many millions in America are ignorant about the truth on this topic, are unwilling or unable to put deeper though into it, are lying to themselves, or in denial.

General Discussion / Re: Should T&T add a toll booth to the highway.

Should T&T add a toll booth to the Uriah Butler Highway, north to south and south to north ?

Would this help ease traffic. It could also help public transportaion and water taxis make more money. The money made would help maintain the roads in T&T. And also create some employment.

It don't have to be much. A simple $1 for cars and $2 for trucks over a year could add up. And if people buy an easy pass they would get a discount of 50 cents per-dollar.

Flex man, I doh even want to friiickiiinggg hear about that!!! I appreciate that you were just making a suggestion, but let me explain my anger and annoyance.(not at you, but at the subject as a whole) So many people in this country struggle just to be able to eat and get by and barely live in this backwater country, and all people could do is make suggestions that'll make life harder for them! What a way to stop traffic- make it so that only the poorest people who worked and struggled and got a car, to save themselves from the coconut-republic public transportation system in Trinidad, they will have to leave their cars at home and go add to their already very hard daily lives having to once again fight up just to reach to work. I hear some damn fricking conniving Gov officials talking about that same toll booth sh*t.

The thing is, DEVELOPED countries have toll booths, because they already have a well developed and efficient pubilc transportation system, so its not like here where people by and large have to struggle to live country, and to add to their already hard life, those who managed to escape are thrown back into Coconut-Republic transport that is PTSC and Maxi-taxis.( breadvans that travel routes at random times and at their own varying terms picking up passengers- yes, Germany can learn alot from us)

An approach that shows more concern and respect and care for the struggling citizens will be to make PTSC into respectable service and tickets available widespread, along with many other options. Only after the citizens' lives are eased up a whole lot( you can think about doing something like this, otherwise it's just like kicking a poor-man in the balls when he's already dragging on the ground.

idk why known gansta walking free anyway. put all of them on the jail island and see how peaceful the country will be like tobago.
Yuh mad sar!! that gun culture is off and running. with or without the big leaders makes no differance! the only solution is tuh regualate the port, patrol our shores rigourously, build more police stations in these gang areas,  beef up patroll on mopeds and on foot for all the nooks and crannies where a squad car can't go,

create a state police force like the FBI. also implement a new police training system/ accademy style and modle it after big  U.S. city accdemies.

revamp our judicial and educational system! them yutes need tuh start getting licks again , from kindergarten to form 3! and criminals need tuh stop getting off on technicalities, they also need an iron clad witness protection programm! to many criminals manipulating the system to aviod prosecution.

bring back the birch and the cat o nine, not just for sexual offences , but for violent crimes, and stealing!

drastic times calls for gratic measures!!

:applause:  If only it were that easy, though.  Cyah happ'm when so much corruption from top to bottom.  These people destroyin we culture.

Just cool, I agree with everything you said except for this part "them yutes need tuh start getting licks again , from kindergarten to form 3!" You are flat out completely wrong and misguided and there. Most of the criminal youths now are a product of our very abusive and dreadful education system that disgusts me.

That's part of the problem- a culture that has been passed down throughout the generations from slavery- that black must be beaten to work efficiently and learn, and to keep them in order. You can just hit a black(Indian and African) child if he gets you a little annoyed, but you wouldn't do that to a white child. Why? Thats because black people for the most part don't see each other as valuable, and subconciously see whites as more valuable than themselves, once again a problem that has come from slavery that many haven't broken or even realized as yet.

The thing is, I agree with giving children a spanking if they are they are the agressor in a school fight, and a few other other incidents, after the child's genuine wrongs are explained to him/her. The problem though is that giving teachers that authority leaves whether they physically hit a child, how hard, and for what reasons, to the discretion of the teachers, and that discretion comes from clear thinking, care and psycological stability, and therein lies the problem. In this unregulated, haphazard and backwater country, nothing is properly monitored, evaluated and kept tabs on. I'm telling you this IS a fact, that in this country there is a very high number of people who are not mentally sound, and I think it has to do with how pressurized people here are generally, and how hard it is to barely be able to live for most people, knowing their nation is an oil and gas rich one, along with many other issues. The fact is that, I'll say the majority of the teachers we have in this country, are not fit to have the authorization to be able to beat children. That was one of the best things the UNC government has done for this nation(even though they theif so much), but the problem is that opened up a vacuum, that in typical haphazard Trinidadian fashion, was not filled.

To tell you the truth, hearing you say that physically disgusted and nauseated ,because of the knowledge of the trauma and stifling of expression that children go through down here, don't you think some serious psycological turmoil had to go on in a child's life to have him so numb and full of hatred that at 16yrs old he could be a stone cold killer?  That is not exagerrating, there many many kids like that in this country. Do you think licks can beat out that emotional numbness and hatred out of him? No, in fact, its physical and psycological abuse and stifling of expression that caused it in the first place brudda.

The thing is, sexual abuse against children in this country is at epidemic proportions, and of that sexual abuse, plenty of it is of the incestuous nature. I know this because of info I got from seminars held on the subject here. Also, I've had the quite saddening experience of knowing some victims of that, including an 8yr old girl that her father and relatives were doing unthinkable things to. That is not even taking into account the severe physical abuse that is rampant here, that affects and numbs so many childrens' minds. So, after going through sexual and physical abuse home, in addition to being hungry because their parents can't afford food, they go to school, and can't focus to do their work correctly, and what does the teacher do- she beats him for it.
The same 7 yr old child stands in the assembly line, and a teacher decides to check childrens' nails to see if they're clean, and his nail along with many other childrens' nails aren't clean(prob because they have no water at their house so some mornings they can't take a bath,or he/she was molested by their parent that morning instead of being bathed- once again, I've actually directly known of a little 9yr old thereabouts girl this was happening to),so she beats them on their knuckles with a ruler.(This actually happened at my brother's school, good thing I wasn't there at the time, a big stone woulda f*cking fly) The same 7yr old is in class, and the teacher realizes that he has white socks on instead of the black, also he doesn't have a notebook for maths so the teacher beats him.(his single mother can't afford new black socks, so left out a pair of his solitary white socks before she left for work, 2hrs before he started getting ready for school)

So, after enduring terrible abuse at home, the children go to school, the place that is supposed to be an escape, and they endure even more abuse, unkindness and perceived injustice, so they become even more numb, hardened and full of hate for everyone and everything around them. That is what produces the type of youths we have in this country, who can look anyone in their eyes, and pull a trigger, or tear their body up with a knife. So full of hate for everyone and everything around them. Instead of school being a place of refuge from the world, a place of reason, it serves to further their life's death plunge and seal their fate.

There's this 6yr old living around by me, in a terribly abusive home, who is more numbed and hardened than any adult I've ever met. We've contacted the so-called Social Services in this country many times, trying to get some intervention, but to no avail, we are still trying to help them. I know if things don't make a drastic change in his life soon, God-forbid he may turn out to be one of those youths who can kill without one ounce of feeling.

Children getting beaten for getting work wrong and speaking(primary school age is the time when scientifically children are supposed to be allowed to express themselves and speak, for their proper development) turns the schools (especially primary, when children absorb things like a sponge) into fear-mongering concentration camps, which results in the vast majority of the population of this country being absolutely unable to articulate their thoughts verbally half-decently. Children do not geta genuine love for aquiring knowledge and lifelong learning, but for the majority they see it as a neccesary chore at best, and more commonly they intensely dislike it.

Treat children with love and kindness at school, and not the usual black people slavery-derived ways of insensitivity, unkindness, abuse and stifling of verbal expression, and show education and gaining knowledge for what it truly is- exciting, something you should forward to and enjoy the process of. The children should eagerly look forward to school, it should be wholly enjoyable for all, and it should be a reprieve and refuge for those children who are abused at home and those who have a very hard life, where people in authority are reasonable, kind and caring, which would give them some hope and take away some of the unfeeling, hard protective shell, and replace the gangstering numb murdered that is soon to be, with a someone who identifies learning, aquiring knowledge and schooling as nice and hopeful, and occupies their time productively with that to their enjoyment, and thereby their tragic fate could be avoided.

Once again I repeat, the majority of the teachers are not psycologically fit, to be given the authority to beat children. The the product of that is rampant unreasonable and unjust beatings of children- the widespread slavery-derived child abuse(seeing your fellow blacks as worth little, therefore being uncaring and callous ) that goes on from kindergarten to primary school in this country(the yrs children are the most impressionable, by secondary school, most are too far gone for a school system to help), coupled with abuse at home(no place for refuge), are two of the primary factors that has produced the over abundance of youthful killers we have today. This isn't even mentioning the number of people who don't become killers, but who are uneducated, and life in shambles. They make children, and so the cycle continues.
There are many other reasonable methods to punish children if they REALLY did something really wrong, methods that won't encourage us black peoples' callousness to each other, even our children, and that won't lead down the path of child abuse.

I'm just so fed up with the shambles every system in this country is in, this country disgusts me. I might go up in the states this yr or early next yr, and my brothers up there say that when I come up, that I'll never come back to Trinidad again, but I don't think so though, I genuinely feel a drive to work to change things here, I can't see myself deserting all those in need here who keep getting crapped on, no matter how frustrated I get with this currently backwater, haphazard, coconut republic, problem-saturated, uncaring country.

Did u not read he diss we wit d coconut tree comment.

Wha de arse wrong with Wim dissing this backwater, haphazard jokey coconut tree country? We have to be honest with ourselves if we want to make progress, you have to call out the problems honestly before you can fix them. I was very happy when Wim had his outburst and stopped being patronising to the sh*t that goes on here. We need more people like him in the spotlight, to care a little more to actually call out the problems honestly. Plain talk and friggin bad manners, that is acres better than politically correct, uncaring and conniving sh*t speech.

Thank you Wim, and I wish you all the best in your life and undertakings. He'll never come back to this coconut country, just as Leo Beenhacker won't come back to this jokey haphazard place either. They're not accustomed to this sh*t like we are, it was driving them insane, I'm telling you.

We need some new leaders to rise up in this country who are polar opposite to the selfish, uncaring, haphazard, short-sighted unpatriotic, 3rd world corrupt coconut-brain leaders we have in this country right now, UNC and PNM are the damn same, and COP seems very deceitful, and like if they'll morph into the UNC once they get into power, and they're already talking crap about joining with the UNC, why? Is it because both of your parties are comprised of mostly Indians? Thats what I hate about UNC and now COP, the leaders of those parties are constantly trying to divided TnT based  on race, and stir racial disharmony. We have enough shit to fix here(read, EVERY SINGLE SYSTEM) already, we don't need them to add more problems.

Read my thread,"The solution for T&T football, and T&T as a whole!" to see a grand plan to put TnT football on par with the best, and thereby helping the country at large tremendously. Give your recommendations on plans that can change our football from the the trademarked Trinidadian haphazardness that the system has, along with every other systems here. There is hope.

Take care!

We should have an elite programme in every district where the best are selected and live together, study and eat together. Have a special curriculum for them. And they compete all year round against each other also against overseas competition. Must maintain also a certain academic average to remain. Also open to ingress other talented athletes. All the teachers and coaches should be degree trained or very highly certified in all the academic and sports concept so as to produce the best product possible. They eat sleep and drink football, and have a special curriculum to ensure they do academics. We have people trained in the country or this having been in other countries that are more successful at sport than we are. They live at the institution and go home for only some weekends in there is no competition.

UTT doing dat now strt and d vast majority of d footballers from d last under 17 eh take d offer.

ahh, thats great UTT is starting something like that, that's good they're trying, but that will not produce the quality of footballers we need. Simple as that. The reason is because people enter university, say at 18 yrs old average, and in football that is simply too old to start real development as a player, and if they possibly get top quality coaches, most youths will have to start really learning the fundamental at 18 yrs old, when youths at REAL football academies in serious contries are already solid in the fundamentals of the game at about 14 yrs old, so the years after that is just continuing development and developing consistency. That's why boys like Bojan can play in the Champions League for Barca at 17 yrs old, and Cristiano Ronaldo starting for Manchester United in the EPL at 18.

That excellent suggestion from Gazza IS what we need, but I'll refine it n add a little more- We need prob. 1 football academy built in every major district in T&T, that scouts and accepts youths from 9 yrs old upwards, who are exceptional at football, the best players in that area. The main subject will be football, and they'll be taught and developed physically, skillwise, fundamentally and mentally, by top coaches, with their UEFA pro badges, and also trainers with the necessary degrees, etc. The children are also taught the regular primary school and secondary school syllabus.

We can debate whether to have all the children boarding and taught together, like a boarding school, but with primary focus on football, though with the children understanding that they must work more focus and harder with the less time they have for schoolwork.

Or, should only those that have no other option board at the academy, and others stay at home, and they all attend public schools, but meet all meet there at around 4pm everyday to train into the night(on new well lit fields of course*grin*)

I think some of them boarding and some home(basically just bunking there) according to their circumstances, and the academy classes starting a little sooner, and them having a shortened but more intense academic schooling(which includes football tactics, theory n science behind ball movement, psychology, etc) in the morning, and starting football at like 1:00pm onwards will definitely be most effective, also having them away from that small-minded starboy footballer mentality in public schools will be greatly better for their development.

Also, they compete all year round against each other also against overseas competition. Also open to ingress other talented athletes.(from Gazza) I also wonder if they could prob compete against intercol opposition(or Pro League), now and again, not consistently though, I think this could serve as motivation for the Intercol players, and also as a way of scouting. There could be a Pro League team name The Academy, and the top players 14yrs and older from each academy around the country, can be chosen to be sent to the main academy, that trains like a top club and plays in the Pro League.

(*mouth waters at this thought* Imagine that! Our best players playing in a professional league while still being rigorously developed by the best coaches! Imagine the caliber our hugely talented players will be when they reach 19yrs old if their talent is so rigorously refined like this from very young! When you think of how a few of them have so much talent and drive that they still reach to a high level at a young age, even through this useless haphazard system! This academy system will truly vie for being among the best in the World! *dreams*)

On the topic of scouting, each academy will have a few full time time scouts assigned the respective district, and even keeping their eyes open for any exceptional talents in fellow Concacaf countries, where there isn't opportunities for the player to develop, if they're good enough at the academy trail they could be drafted in, but only the absolute best of the best(a few) from foreign nations.

The nutrition of the youths will also be paid very careful attention to, the best diet for their physical development will be developed and they'll be fed this.

Man, just thinking about this and typing it out makes me feel so excited and happy at what something like this could do(thanks for bringing this up and elaborating on it so clearly Gazza!) The number of quality players we'll get from a system like this will be amazing, based on the staggering number of talented youths we have for a country so small. This system will marry our exceptional dribbling skills with European solidity and composure, like the modern day Brazilian players.

Also, even beyond the unimaginable impact it will have on our football, and thereby on the society, as sport is proven to have a tremendous impact on people's mentalities, seeing their own succeed in sport or play to contest the best gives people amazing hope, and upliftment, 2 things that impact a people positively tremendously. Just look at the nation's unity and overall difference during the last qualifying matches of WC06 n the WC.

The youths who are football academy quality will have the option of boarding at the academy to sleep, or going home to sleep. This will afford youths in depressed communities a much better quality of life, as the living quarters will be very nice and comfortable, and all the youths for as long as they're in the academy will be served top quality nutritious food.

This will add tremendous opportunities for youths all over the country, it will bring plenty excitement and hopefulness(hope to get through in your football dreams, and to see such a genuinely caring initiative like this for the people), and naturally a bit of discipline comes with sport. It will give the youths in depressed communities a bit more hope and a very encouraging reason to spend their free time playing football, in hope of getting through to the academy, instead partaking in "gangster" idiocy and ignorance.(Also, not football, but I propose building Libraries in every major community in T&T.)

Man, this sounds sooo good, but I know it's just fantasy talk and practically an impossibility to have something like this with the present government and football authorities, and those in recent memory. The only way this can happen is through some private persons getting it done. Simple as that. I'll friggin like how this sounds!!!! I think I'll have to start this myself!! ;D

Take care of yourselves!(p.s. thanks to Gazza for many of the points, and for expressing this idea so clearly!)

I have now moved from a neutral on the Scottish league to intensely disliking it.

The nerve of that crappy Scottish league, to do that to Scotty!! Like if that crap league is some kind of extra exclusive outfit that only top World Class players like Ronaldo and Messi are allowed in, *hint for them* Shafting very good players( like Scotty) in such a terrible, heartless, unappreciating and unjust way, won't really endear your crumby league to anyone's hearts, and will serve to further carry down the already low level of football there.

When you end up in the EPL as you deserve Scotty, you'll embarrass the hell out of that crap league for ejecting a player like you, as you have already in the 2 seasons since you left! Just that it will be to another level. The Scottish league is in fact exclusive-mostly only sub-par players are allowed. You have already made them rue the day they did that to you, cause since you left you are just going on to greener and greener pastures, instead of the wilted dustbowl, in and proving yourself to be a great player. Great response man Scotty! Keep proving your doubters wrong! Your fighting spirit in the face of so much fight down is inspirational.

Television commentators, particularly those of paid channels, do their best to make the games entertaining, but often leave viewers puzzled when they praise shooters for their 'impressive power,' overlooking the fact that the ball flew five metres above the bar.

A close-range shot slammed into a goalkeeper chest is seldom called, as it should, a bestial blunder, but gets transformed into 'a prodigious save.'

In a perverse homage to triteness, each shot hitting the post is a 'palo clamoroso,' and it is always described as a case of bad luck, rather than lack of precision.

If it's true that there problems in football, facing them objectively could be a good way to start solving them.

wait til he listen to radio commentary of football with the heart attack cast we have in Trinidad.
... or when a man pull off a drag, spanner or cap another man - yuh could swear from the reaction of the crowd he score a goal, even though he get one hard bat or collect some blade from the next defender.

lol! acb man, I totally agree with you. I saying that for years- that is one of the major problems with our football and development, our standards are too low, a player would do something that's just routine in players in top leagues, and he'll sit back and admire it after he now finished hitting his umpteenth misplaced pass. Blasted standards too low, from the players and the supporters.

I like this article though, its really refreshing to hear such honest and thought out criticism coming from someone so affiliated with the target, always nice to hear, first step to solving a problem is admitting it, so thats good from Italy so far, I'm proud of them*awww*. We have plenty blasted admitting to do here in TnT.

Football / Re: T&T U-17 sent packing.
« on: April 24, 2009, 10:32:47 PM »
Palos ah watching yuh kinda slight now.

Yeah we were doing pretty well until the 1st goal. We were taking the game to them, but in doing so we neglected the midfield, which from what I saw we really did not try to address. Everything was hit long. Also, in taking the game to them the defense was not connected to the midfield. The defense sat off from the midfield some what giving too much room to the Costa Rican as shown by the first goal. When the defense is that disconnected from the rest of the team you invite shots like the first goal, which even if the goal did not score would have had us in a bind.

Yeah I agree with you, too much nervous inaccurate long balls, also long balls were constantly being played not into areas with space, but areas with plenty opposing players, so together with them being inaccurate, lacking consistent first touch from players, and space being occupied by Costa Ricans where the balls were played, they all came together for the opposition to get back the ball easily. Typical Trindad- we were nervous to play the ball from defense to attack, through midfield, because our players are not assured in their ability to pass accurately, to interchange the ball from defense to attack without losing it, so we take the easiest option- hopeful( more like hopeless) long balls. Its the lack of proper training in the fundamentals that consistently kills us. Even big blasted hard back men on the National Senior Team can't string a few passes together.

Our trademarked-Trinidadian haphazard system(so for everything here) has failed to properly prepare and develop the tremendous number of talented players we've had through the years. Turning out players solid on the fundamentals shouldn't be the exception, it should be the norm. The exception should be turning out players with Latapy like flair, and given the exceptional talents most of our players have for dribbling, we would actually turn out much more of those exceptional players than most other much bigger countries, with a football development system that goes against the haphazard norm of every system in this country.

I believe we can do it though, I have hope, but it will take tremendous work and new leaders to rise up. I'm a realist and an optimist.

Once again, the individual dribbling skills of our players' were exceptional, but its the rest of football that makes up 80% of the game, that we don't put focus on, that let us down.

2 things that stood out the most was that that boys were letting the ball bounce in front of the very frequently, you never do that, but we do that all the time, when I go by the field to play I see fellas who pass through so many coaches, but still constantly let the ball bounce infront of them. The reason for the is the 2nd thing that stood out- ball control.

They let the ball bounce infront of them because they don't have full confidence in their ability to kill the ball with one touch, and not divert it to the opposition, almost afraid of trapping a fast or awkward ball. I only watched the 2nd half, but many promising plays were killed by giving the ball away through lack of ball control. Sometimes they trapped the ball good, but again, football is consistency. Also passing and crossing accuracy and consistency wasn't what it should be, it was in real contrast to the Costa Ricans.

Don't think I'm being overly critical, just that I'm a perfectionist(has its downsides) & I can't help but point out the things that need major improving. I see plenty potential in those youths, really, I can really see them learning those things with some good coaching, but that's the problem there, will they get the coaching they need to lift the fundamental aspects of their game? Overall, the team played decently enough, but even if you can dribble like Messi it means nothing if you never have to ball to dribble with, because the players are lacking in the fundamentals that result in team ball possession.  One nice positive though was that I saw less boom-kick defense than I see in the senior team.

We had plenty chances on goal, which was a result of our players' excellent dribbling ability, but players were too hesitant to shoot when space opened up, players were also taking too many touches and passes in the box(even Arsenal pay for this, and their players are incomparably better than our players based on our hugely sub-par development systems) , when there was chances for shots, and so many chances dried up like that.

Overall, congrats to the boys, you all played with heart, you all should be proud of the work put in, though know that if you really want to make it as a footballer, and break the trend in this country of talent never being fully fulfilled, if you're not satisfied with at best playing in the TT Pro League your whole life(though huge props to this league for service to our football), know that you have to train tirelessly and unrelentingly on the fundamentals of the game- one touch killing of the ball control, accurate & consistent passing and crossing and heading, running off ball into passing lanes, otherwise you will never make it in a top league in Europe realistically, no matter how well you can dribble- they WILL NOT CARE, know that. You see it all the time in the top leagues in Europe- players just fantastic at dribbling but are constantly left on the bench- because they aren't as solid in the fundamentals of the game as other players, and most of the are still much better at the fundamentals than most of our players. I say all this out of genuine love and the desire to see the a stop to the vast majority of our over-abundance of talented players just never really achieving in their careers, and seeing dreams being smashed.

Once again, dribbling skills mean next to nothing to football and European clubs specifically, unless you are exceptional or very solid at the fundamentals of football (prob more than 80% of the game). Even if you happen to get through to a decent club without this, you'll burn a hole through the bench from warming it, and you'll soon be let so and spiral down the leagues to lower and lower clubs, you see it all the time.

Take care everyone.

The TTFF need to implement a solid progressive structure for youth football. Depending on clubs or schools only will get us no where fast. Have paid coaches on staff who scout the country (elementary school, high school, clubs, sweat in village savanahs, ect) for potential players and then hold district training and tryouts. Maybe they could collaborate with the Ministry of youth affairs or something. After selecting better players in the district, each district play each other and then form all star teams and play again. During these events the National staf is invited to have a look and maybe conduct a session ofr two with the players.
This will give the youths something to look forward to and work harder at their game. If we are serious about football serious investment of time and money will have to take place. We can't just dismiss every idea as it will not work. It is difficult but it could be done.

man elan, I totally agree with you, great suggestions man! I really think having an organised structure like that will really make youths work harder at their game.

Alyuh doh want to say it any time trinbago stop voting kneegar ,koolie things might change but ah doh think that could ever happen it to beneficial to some people .
Breds , i not in the indian african stand off ! for me it kinda stupid!

but when panday came to power, he stirred up a lot of bad feelings amounst the masses with his pro indian views, and it showed in the way  he went about things.

the man only big up his constsituence and neglect the rest of the country.

this pro indian behavior don't belong in politics, he shoulda stayed a union man and left politics to the ppl who love the country. not a race monger like himself.

when panday was in power, is only indians who was enjoying success in T&T, the african and mixed population was ignored!

@ least manning does ignore the east POS and invirons, but does bigg up the rest ah the country, and that's a lot more than you could say for panday. that fella really inhibit race relations in T&T.

dread is people like you who have Trini in di state it is  . Panday is a c**t but not a bigger c**t than Manning. mi nuh rate none a dem but when UNC was in charge not only indian was reeping sucess di whole country was. You are the problem with Trinidad by saying only indian was reeping sucess .   TNT was a place anyone was safe to visit and money running , money gotten stolen , and all kind a things going on. Stadium building, airport building. The ppl of trini still benefitted from UNC . wey de ppl of TNT benefitting now. PNM and Panday needs to be removed from politic so Trinidad can be  nice again.
I guh bring up somehting and leave yu to think bout it . You say Indians only was reeping sucess from UNC Government , Manning closed down Caroni, (nuff Indian working there) and left URP open(where members from The same crew that over throw our government controlls ) . How many URP formean have been gun down  since Yu fadda Manning tek over? Dread I does come here and talk mi football but when I see People praising a f**kin shit hound it does tell me what type of person you are.. I guh still hail when I see yu cya MI love mi people!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trini's need to stop crying and tek wood is dem  who vote manning not me
war..

Breds , me and you never had nutten , so do go on like i does oppose yuh and dis is yuh opportunity tuh get even.

like i said tuh zulu, i not in the indian african mele! is 20 odd yrs now i in foreign, and i will never leave here tuh live in trini ever again....... that is................ if trini continue to be a banana republic!!

when i was livin in T&T i real suffer tuh get steady employment and higher education, so i ride out and never look back, and for that i'm extremely proud of meh self! why?? BC i woulda never get an education in life if i stayed on ah backward underprivileged 100 by 50 rock!!!!!!!!!

don't gey me wrong! i don't hate my country , but i saw what backward politicians can do to a naive ppl!! take forinstance the youths in the ghetto, them yutes is the victims of poverty, but the ppl with money only exploiting their weakness and puttin them out on the front line tuh do their dirty work, thus taking all the blame for the decadence in the society!

breds! as for manning and panday, i not in the local politics, and if i was i would be an NJAC supporter 1000%!

panday IME is a forkin racist bastard, and that's not due to speculation! it's what i know BC my pops was a union man who had dealings wid panday before you born!

as for manning! he's another politician like panday who using poor black ppl for political gain!! but while yuh on panday and manning , what did panday do for black ppl when he was in power, and yeh, manning close down caroni LTD BC it was a liability!

just like BEEWEE, it was costing the government too much money tuh maintain ! it was far more economically feasible to import sugar rather than produce it , plus the sugar workers got a great severance package, and while we on the subject, a lot of ppl does feel that is was only indians who was working the sugar industry, well FYI it had a lot of african and spanish who was employed by caroni LTD.

i not in no coolie naygar argument boss , but rural indians too forkin klanish and love the racist nonsense, as for town Africans, they need tuh come too the 21st century and stop making excuses for the lack of effort! and start taking responsibility for their actions.

like i said , i not in no african-indian argument, and i hate politics, but if i had tuh chose between panday and manning i choosing manning BC that fella does pass POS east straight and don't even stop tuh peek out he widow , and that's his strongest PNM hold!

panday on the other hand , every thing is for his constituency! so it's fair to say @ least every body does get ah shake form manning shak shak, but as for panday shak shak, is only rural indians does get tuh shake that! and if yuh don't believe meh then ask maharaj!

just cool, i totally agree with you man, Panday constantly encourages and pushes racial division and racial disharmony in this country, that is a blasted fact. Everything you said I agree with everything you said man, big ups!

Trinidad football is a victim of the quality of the overseas leagues and the ready viewing avaliability of these leages. In short no one want to come out to see football that they percieve to be inferior to what they see on television. (Notice I said percieve). This means small gates receipts and even less resources available to upgrade the standard of football.
The Pro League I beleive is marketed improperly. There is a tenuous link between the clubs and their communities. I beleive these links should made stronger..Visit schools in their area, go on walk abouts , have a car wash , do something to raise the profile of the clubs affiliation with San Juan , Marabella , Tobago to name a few.
Everybody like to bash Jack  but everytime the man withdraws his support it leaves a vaccum that no other stakeholder , be it government , private institutions wants to fill . And make no mistake , He who pays the piper will ALWAYS call the tune.

Mackie man, I totally agree with you, you know how long I saying one of the main thing thats tremendously hampering the pro league right now is next to NO marketing. Its ridiculous, I mean, unless I absolutely go searching for it, there just absolutely NO chance I would know when and where matches are going on, to attend, that together with everything else you said. I'm too busy now to respond to all the comments made by everyone, but so far I think I more or less agree with every comment made. Thanks everyone.

Take care.

Football / The solution for T&T football, and T&T as a whole!
« on: April 23, 2009, 05:11:43 PM »
I started this as a post, but it got so long I decided to make a thread with it.

Just blasted disgusting the incompetence of our Football setup ,and absolutely shocking is the incompetence of some(prob most) of our local coaches, that is ruining most of our young players with international-class talent by teaching them rubbish, they don't learn the essentials of the game(dribbling means nothing if you can't get a pass or cross off properly after)

The best investment the government can make in local football(which IS the biggest sport in T&T, and therefore can make a big positive impact on this nation), is to get our local coaches official training- they could probably sponsor the best local coaches in getting their official uefa licenses, and also take some of our tax dollars to hire a few top quality youth coaches from europe or a top club in south america, to coach every level of our youth teams. Also, they should get those same coaches to set up some local exam that coaches of ALL intercol teams would have to have passed. The local clubs need to also set up REAL acadamy systems, of course with good coaches with proper  training.

Dribbling is at most 20% of the game, but we spend 80% of the time learning that, and 20% of the time learning everything else that accounts for 80% of the game. Doesn't something look a little wrong there?

edit: BTW that 80% part of the game is:
. passing(passing accurately intelligently, and being able to TRULY use our natural dribbling skills to create space and get off a good pass)

. Doing things quickly- that doesn't mean running fast, its deciding the best thing to do with the ball and pulling it off instantly, without having to charge up to do it, be it a pass, a flick or a cross, as soon as you get the ball. All top players have this, and most players in top leagues are at least ok at it. A good example of one of the best at this is Paul Scholes. Watch his game, as soon as a lane to pass or cross opens, the ball is already on its way.(and accurately too)

. Ball control over the entire body, being able to bring down a rocket cross exactly where you want it.( not all will be able to do this, but with proper practice, everyone will be able to bring it down at least close to where they want it, as you see in all top leagues)

.Off the ball movement and constant positioning and create chances(absolutely critical for a team to play solidly(to not look like conceding any goals in a match, and most times not conceding any or only a few. basically, you will NEVER EVER get beaten 7-0 if you do this properly, together with everything else I mentioned) Watch Manchester United and Barca play for off the ball movement. EVERYTIME a player has the ball, other must run and make clear passing lanes for him, there must always be at least 2 options, ALWAYS. I like ManU's off the ball movement in midfield, and Barca's own around the box. Of course positioning is one of the top attributes of a good defender.

. Crossing: Basically, being able to hit the ball in the air and have it land exactly where you want accurately. Of course also includes being able to impart good backspin when you want, to hit the type of crosses that land delicately, not just smashing your foot into the ball in the approximate place you want it to go and hope it comes off. Again, only a select few players will master it to the point of crosshair like accuracy, but as in real professional European club academies, all the players will have a good competency of it and be comfortable when they have to do a basic cross, so when their cross goes way off its the norm and not a lucky anomaly worthy to sit back and be admired.

. Heading the ball accurately.(one place where our players seem to be getting good training with)

. Defending as a team, everytime an opponent has the ball there must be pressure on him from a player, whilst the team still keeps it's proper defensive shape.

. Notice I didn't say ball possession, because that will come naturally when all these parts are added up. They eqaul ball possession, a solid team thats hard to break down and score on, and a team that will create chances. I know I prob missed out a few points, but I don't have any more time. Of course I left out dribbling, cause we are already good at that and spend too much time on that! I remember Bourbon made a post describing how our incompetent game and players(despite the obvious talent) is a result of how what most of our mostly learn the game from- undisciplined small-goal. Almost everything I mentioned above isn't required in small goal. If you can dribble you're labeled a star and your head gets swollen.(further hampering your development) In Brazil they play small goal, but the best players, that we see as stars in Europe, attend local club academies that can be compared to the best in Europe.

Of course the team manager and match tactics are of tremendous importance, but even with lesser managers with questionable tactics, teams with solid, well rounded and  developed players will not consistently perform weakly against top opponents, as so many times with different youth levels and senior level teams of T&T when we come up against so-called "top opponents".

A good manager can aide in hiding the faults of individual players by strenuous drilling of the team unit, but there will still be many times when those fundamental flaws in players get exposed, so a good few times play reasonably solidly, but occasionally be swept away, and almost never win against top opposition- even with the best manager. What we truly need are both, players developed from young to be solid, well rounded and  developed players,(the way to do this I described above), top managers, and coaches who are properly trained (preferably with badges) and tactically sound. Of course the latter is tremendously required for the former.

Under the present trademark haphazard T&T way things are done, anyone that comes out a good player(i.e. who's good and solid at the 80% part of the game that's not dribbling) has done so against all the odds. Don't think I'm bashing our players and being unappreciative about our coaches, but out of the certainly hundreds of very talented youngsters over the years, how many have really made it and held down a place in top leagues in Europe? I can probably count that on one hand. Is that because there's a conspiracy against Trinidad and constantly Trinidadian Ronaldo's are ignored? Is it because our players simply cannot develop into complete players? No it isn't. Most of our players are experts at the 20%-dribbling, but when they go to trails at top clubs, they don't get though, because they flunk at the 80% that I described before. Of course in every slapdash system there'll be pockets of excellence- i.e. players that are exceptional, and coaches that are very good and do great and very admirable work with the youths, but they are few and far between, and for anyone who has a spirit of excellence that is miles away from enough.

Look up haphazard in the dictionary, and you'll see Trinidad(btw, I'm calling Oxford now to report them of the error in theirs). I've come to realize that's the exact word that can be used to described almost every system in this country, and the football authority and youth development isn't any different. Things aren't done in a thorough, complete and all encompassing, well planed way with foresight and excellence. The few things that are done that way are the exceptions. In some of the more developed nations, that is the culture. That's why the US could have their football authority operating so efficiently, even though football(soccer) isn't at all the main sport there, because that is their culture. Trinidad has a culture of haphazard that we have to break, I am seeing some progress recently, but not anywhere close to enough.

What's your say on this, do you agree, or disagree with some of this or all? Btw I can't believe I wrote all that.

I didn't get chance to re-read this, so sorry in advance for and grammatical errors, typos, etc.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has dismissed recent speculation linking several players with a move away from South Wales. Both Newcastle and Middlesbrough have watched recent Swansea games, with Jordi Gomez and Jason Scotland touted as the targets for the North East duo.

I find it hard to believe that Newcastle will take away the job from Alan Shearer and give it to Jordi Gomez. Gomez might do well in the EPL, but not at Newcastle with all that drama going on. If he replace Shearer and that side doh buy into his philosophy right away, then is serious tears.

I cynical bout de timing...but....it is one country...it will add some novelty to the event. Eliminates the slim hope i had of doing all i have to do on that day and making that game doh.

NOT!! the time to add novelty now, its the time to play it as safe and solid as possible- against a very strong team, to try and get 3 points, or game over.

Its not the time for novelty now, we couldn't work out we novelty before the WCQ started, but who am I kidding, proper planning, foresight and lack of haphazardness is an impossibility for our leaders in Trinidad,in fact it's going against their genetic makeup. Can't expect that from them, that's just cruelty towards them,we gotta stop being so unreasonable people!

it was harry that had KJ at Spothampton   right ??

Which may be why he's after him so.  He must know a thing or two about how to get more out of KJ.  Or better yet improve him as a player while making his team better.  KJ must have left quite an impression because if nothing else HR is bery persistent in his desire to bring on KJ.  Similarly I guess to how hard he seemed to try while at Pompey to get Hyland there.

Arry is a friend of T&T.

Hmm....by far our biggest must-win match of the round and we're not playing in our natl stadium, but instead experimenting??!!

What kind a f**king pappy show sh*t is this!!! EXACTLY supporter!! At least somebody thinking sensibly! I agree Tobago is part of Trinidad, but a CRUCIAL World CUP QUALIFYING match IS NOT supposed to be a tool to make some people feel more integrated and sooth some peoples' egos!- is because of that SAME SH*T that Stern John take that penalty over Dwight in El Salvador. You don't just catch a vaps and decide to uproot the team from their familiar home venue, into a venue previously untested..- AND for a MUST WIN WORLD CUP QUALIFIER, and the masses cheer it-... W-T-F.!?!!?!!

At least have a friendly match there first to test team's feel for the venue and the support. 15000 less supporters! Support-the 12th man, is so many times the factor that spurs a team over the edge to victory in a crucial game, so take away potentially 15000 supporters to endear yourself to the people of Tobago and Orville London(who I don't give a fack about), no probs, its Trinidad, nothing new- as HAPHAZARD in doing things as usual.

If they played a friendly there and the crowd support was better(and not like funeral attendees in the HCS), and the team said they felt more comfortable in the venue than HCS, then fine, but YOU DO NOT UPROOT THE TEAM for a game like that to fix some people's self made separation complex. I agree Tobago is part of Trinidad, but Trinidad has the CAPITAL CITY, with the NATIONAL STADIUM(its identified as that for a reason), so get your F**king ass on a plane and come to the National Stadium of TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO(not the national stadium of Trinidad) if you want to see the game. Don't be facking  with all this trademarked Trinbagonian Haphazard way of doing everything. Jack yuh really outdo yuhself this time, after Beenhacker's work, it isn't the case of 5steps forwards and 10 steps back,no-no-we rolling in reverse! In fact we cruising, is a joyride.

As I said, at least start this with a match where not as much is at stake, don't introduce more unknown variables into our already complicated situation. I damn fed up of how slapdash things are done in this country.
