Azteca using that for years

EXACTLY!!  Including during the World Cup held there in 1986

Ah ha!!...I thought it sounded very familiar....they was playing the blasted thing just the other day in our WCQ game....steups...

yeah, lol, same thing i eventually noticed too, i went online and looked at some confed cup vids and thought to myself- that sounds exactly like that weird buzzing sound from our mexico match that was giving me a headache, while i was watching that match i was wondering what the hell they were blowing. I don't think they should ban it, but i think they should give guidelines that you should blow it continually, for as long as your blasted breath holds up, they could at least makes some noise with their mouths inbetween- cause that's what gives real atmosphere to games, it's comparable to our riddim section(though our guys are have ACTUAL TALENT and make noise with actual rhythm to it, chalk and cheese, but still), their noise without the crowd's verbal noise doesn't make the atmosphere in the stadiums alive, it's still dead, though they help. Besides that, the vuvuzela is a persistent humming noise, which is almost like static on your tv- it makes the experience less pleasurable for most.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo- that guy is rarely ever injured and wants to play every minute of every game, he gets knocked about from opposing players every game and he doesn't get hurt, don't mind he falls down a bit easily to say the least, but most players are like that nowadays, they got no problem with blatantly lying and behaving underhanded, a shame really.

he asked about iron "MEN"
haha...that's a new one there...., seriously, he's is still probably the fittest footballer you'll see anywhere in the world, and rarely ever injured, so don't let your bias skew and taint your judgment.

BLASTED BANDWAGONISTS, all of you. Support your players through high and low, through thick and thin, stop the bashing and kicking them when they're down, instead bandwagonists- try to only offer support and speak constructive criticism. out.

Two defeats, but spirits still high
By Alvin Corneal (T&T Guardian)

Two months of preparation could only do us good and the first move should be to invite the likes of Jamaica, Guatemala and Panama before the end of June—a tough disciplined opponent out of Europe, such as Finland or even Russia, maybe even New Zealand who is currently at the Confederations Cup. Honestly, the defensive problems of the past few months are still ever present in our play, leaving me to wonder whether or not the vulnerability is recognised. Is the problem player-oriented or is it a faulty system through a lack of understanding?

hahaha- having Russia COME HERE for a friendly. has Alvin Cornmeal been following European football for the past yr and a half or so, cause Russia(with Arshavin, Zhirkov, etc) are one of the high fliers in Europe right now under Guus Hiddink, why the ass would they want to COME HERE to play TnT, with the poor, soft and jokey way we've been playing in matches in the past 3 yrs or so, we are so delusional down here, that's also shown in the instant starboy mentality that takes over our players that get the most meagre sniff of success. That said, we played respectfully in our past 2 matches, so the players' heads should be held high.

Also, with all that said, I agree with Mr. Cornmeal sr., we should try to line up as high level international teams for friendlies as possible.

Elan,
We are not delusional. We are happy we did not get 8. That's why everybody saying our play improved. As hard as it was watching that "backs and forwards" game last night, It worse seeing TT get 8. I saw the last one when we got planassed in that same stadium and one of our guys get red carded to boot.

When you put it like that I understand.

lolol, planassed in the stadium--lmao.

Very dignified performance from our players. All heads should be held high.

Birchall is huge value add to the squad dread... Maybe not your kind of player but when he's on the field our level of energy and intensity is higher and better.  He's an unsung work horse whose efforts can easily go unnoticed...He covers a tremendous amount of ground and he's one of the few players with the grit needed in the int'l game- last night he was tireless...and made some fearless crucial recoveries at the back- (one that first comes to mind is the saving defensive lunge where he risked his body to force the attacker to head wide under pressure)....

Jagdeo has a different set of gifts perphaps, but Kendall is not better than Birchall dread..absolutely not.

Last night on at least three times Birchall cover both Yorke and Daniel. Tracking down dem man way on the other side of the midfield, tackling and winning the ball.

Am I the ONLY one who saw that it was Birchall who tackled the Mexican and toe-poke the ball for Tinto to score? You need BOTH piano MOVERs as well as Piano PLAYERS for a concert... Birchall is to T&T what Makelele was to Chelsea, the man who does the dirty work to free up the creative players to do their job... Real Madrid didn't see Maka's value either...UNTIL he left

I agree, but you can't make a straight comparison though because Birchall isn't in Makalele's class- Maka doesn't lose the ball and has impeccable passing, but yes, Birchall should play the exact same clean up defensive mid role as Makalele for TnT, that's crucial for us, but he still has alot to improve on though. I feel with the toughness Birchall in a strict defensive mid role would bring, we would be more comfortable straight replacing Yorke with Hyland- who I think SHOULD BE ON THE FIELD.

Hyland and Tinto are 2 of top level youths, and I feel Keon Daniel would be in there with them if he was played in central midfield. Look at Iniesta's performance on the wing against Chelsea in the CL semis vs his performance in central midfield vs Man Utd in the finals- he performed respectably vs Chelsea- but against ManU he was UNPLAYABLE, and looked like a superhuman footballer. That shows how much of a player's ability can be hidden by playing them out of position. I have a good feeling Keon Daniel will be great in attacking midfield.

Another thing too- KEON DANIEL SHOULD BE THE DESIGNATED FREEKICK TAKER IF HE'S ON THE FIELD. The man has proven himself to be the best freekick taker we have, and prob among the top 3 in our history- why the hell did Carlos(who is our best player for years now still) take that freekick around the Mexican pen area in the 2nd half- he pushed Keon away from the ball after he had lined it up, and proceeded to blast the ball into the far post of the imaginary goal next to the real one. I'm sure Keon would have at least gotten that on target. That is the same shit that caused the pen miss in EL Salvador- and why we only have 2 pts instead of 4.

Also- INCE HAS BEEN BRILLIANT FOR US in the past few matches. He was the best player by far on the field in the Azteca- goal.com agrees with me too- he got a rating of 8, the highest any other player got was 6 I think(Tinto got 6, he would be rated higher if he got the ball more) Many top international nation don't even have a keeper of Ince's quality, when you look at some of the goals their keepers concede. We have some very good players to build on, and I'm sure that Latapy will maximize them and put out the best team that can win matches- based on the BIG improvement we've seen so far. I'm excited to see how the team will look in August, because he already has them playing so much better in the little time he's had all of them together.

I hope Jlloyd Samuel and Zamora are available for August- that would be great, especially Jlloyd.

                                 Ince

Carlos           Keyeno            Jlloyd               Avery

                               Birchall

Tinto              Spann        Keon Daniel    Hyland

                            Stern John

Keon Daniel is the designated taker of ALL set peices.

idk why this man on friend thing and playing Yorke 90 mins all the time.  Yorke jogging after 20 mins, not sprinting.  he burned out. Should sub yorke instead on Kenwyne last night

well baba, if dat is your logic, d whole damn team shouda get subbed becauses every body was bun and joggin after a while. an be truthful nah... yorke started to fade from about d sixtieth minute not so early as u suggesting.

IMHO, i feel latas deserve a B+. jus for bringing out a significant change in dis team that is a mixture of inexperience an old men.

so now that Ince has been selected, does this mean Phillips will be dropped?

Personally I dont see the justification behind it.

Do birds fly?
Is the Grass green?
Do fishes swim?
Is the sky blue?

Ince is de boss....who vex loss

plus he aint goh let de same type ah goal score on him twice in one game :shameonyou:

last i check, ince let a trickler from defoe pass across him, and was on de ground when bermuda was scoring.

on top of that he wasnt too wholesome for de youth men confidence..

Phillips only mistake since he in de posts is not coming to punch for USA 3rd goal.

why we must drop men on name?
Omar...be serious...Ince is simply better and more experienced...come on

Boy Small Mag.....sometimes I does really feel Omar is ah mad man wee...  He tink de yute men go be more confident with Phillips.

Omar....Ince is de safest goalie TnT ever had in ah long time.  Doh doubt dat.  Ask Lincoln Phillips and he goh tell yuh de same ting too

Ah bring back dis thread....for de bandwaggonist and dem....watch wha Kiffy was saying long time

Ahh, nice, kiffy you know what you were talking about boy, lol- Ince has been BRILLIANT for us, in Mexico is was by far the best player on the field- I really don't think even Shaka would have saved many of the things he did, absolutely brilliant keeper Ince.

45
The reason Yorke is still on the field is because we need him as a leader out there, no one else except probably Ince can take that role. Also, it's because the grassroots football in this country IS pure disorganized and jokey SHIT, you can't even call it mediocre, cause it's much lower than that, that's why Yorke and many others are still on the field.

de left side showed it ugly head again as makan hislop was clueless playing as the left back and keon daniel still refusing to play defense. tinto also left edwards gaping quite a few times as well. but hislop was the biggest lapse in our defense....imagine u playing wing back and standing around and keeping 2 players onside. then u ball watching and allow blanco to run past u to get a header at our goal. then the last 30 mins u jogging to mexican players who running at u with the ball....u roast on top of all of that! except for the nice ball daniel played into the box for Kj (im coming to him just now), daniel aint doing nothing offensively. he got a chance in the 2nd half where he dribbled the defender nicely and was on top of the 18 and looked clueless....like he was in a foreign place...instead of making an assertive move towards the goal...he eventually lost d dam ball.

Let me say this about our "big time striker" KJ! he has to be either dropped from the squad or definitely placed on d bench. he not fighting for the ball (i saw him win one ball from the mexican defenders...who by the way looked very uncomfortable when presured when ball at their feet), he walking around the field like im not moving until alyuh give me d ball on this blade of grass, he has no striker's intuition...plain and simple he is not a striker. we need to recall daryl roberts....or give someone a chance who willing to work his ass off up front...at least to provide that first line of defense.

having said all of that...i wasnt too disappointed in latas performance as coach. he rode ince tonite...that fella was d hero of d game tonite....and when he realised that mexico took their foot off the gas in the last 15 mins of the first half he switched the team from low pressure to high pressure....and it resulted in a well taken goal by hayden. i thought his subs were spot on...kj, noel and daniel. i already addressed KJ and daniel. noel had a ok game but too many times he is out of position. to the non footballer u see him running all over the field looking busy....but in reality he consistantly running cause he out of position. in fairness to him...many ah times he was covering for daniel...and he having to cover 2 spaces. i wud have liked to see colin samuel tonite...to at least run at the mexican defense. i also liked how latas didnt sit on his loins when it was 2-1 and say well let we make it respectable. he changed to a 4-4-2 and went looking for the goal...just that the players he brought didnt help his cause. abu bakr started off horribly but for a debut i thought he did pretty well...and dog finally showed his class tonite. ive said this before and i'll say it again....birchall is the heart and soul of this team...with his fight and determination. yorke needs to be taken off during the 2nd half because he is like a cone on that field for the last 30 mins of the game.

hopefully latas can find the answer before our next game cause one more loss and that's it for SA 2010! :beermug:

great post fordy. I agree with everything you said. Birchall showed why he needs to be on the team today(and i'm not one of his cheerleaders)- he helped in defense so much, he needs to be used as a defensive midfielder imho. Latas has 2 months now before the next game and great insights from 2 of the toughest games we might ever play, and he's done so much with barely any time before the Costa Rica game, I'm still positive he'll get them to play as they should and pick the very best team that can win matches, because the team already look so drastically improved from what it before since he's in charge.

Peter,
How do you know if someone else could not do it. You don't know how Jack been blacklisting people since the late 70's. when Foots and them try to introduce pro football with Pro-pioneers, he threatened the players with life-time fifa ban. he stop a game between pro-pioneers and some Haitian team at the Lever Bros ground(the one he owns now). Why111 because they were a threat to him. He was not getting piece of the action.  That is time TT was ripe for pro-ball. Fans use to come out and support. Now He build 4 big stadium, all we have now is invisible fans.
You could  love him!!!!!!

Like I said, give him flak where it's due- stuff like that is absolutely unacceptable and disgusting, though I still believe in giving him credit where it's due, I believe saying something like this would be fair- Jack does do some disgusting and very unscrupulous things, but de man does do plenty positive for our football in between. Even though hypothetically someone else in his position might have been involved in less spiteful and unscrupulous behaviour, the fact is that the man has worked hard to attain what he has and that post.

Ince was absolutely BRILLIANT! Tinto was great, showed our strikers how you finish. Once again, our heads should be held high after this loss. No way Yorke should have played 90 mins AT ALL, but he gave his all, and the team really defended with heart in sections of the match.

Latapy have a full 2 months now to look at players and teach the team passing, retaining possession, off ball work- like the improvement in those aspects that we've seen in the team since his young tenure began. I look forward to the next set of qualifiers beginning in August, with OPTIMISM really. Everyone must not forget- we played prob 2 of the hardest qualification matches that we can ever play, and we played a weakened team in the Azteca, but still looked visibly better  and like if they could actually create scoring opportunities(less so in Mexico) and get results from both matches. Latapy will impart into them the skills they need, and find the best players and put forward the best team, I'm confident of that still. If he can make this big an improvement in a month(I think), it bodes very well for what he can do in 2 months with the tremendous insight these matches brought and with all the players available.

HOLD YOUR HEADS HIGH FELLAS, YOU ALL FOUGHT ADMIRABLY.

Whey, everybody like to jump on the bandwagon and gangup on people eh, that is the easiest thing to do, not to speak contrary to the crowd. People have to start thinking for their damn selves. All a allyuh ride out. I for one damn well agree with you Mackie(we crossing paths on here plenty these days, lol) I saying what Mackie saying there for a long while now. You think i care about what derisory things allyuh would have to say because I stand against the crowd and the tide of bahhing sheep on here.

You all think Beenhackker would ah have set he big toe in this country, or we would have reached the damn 06 world cup without jack? I've said many times before, no one has done as much to push our football forward and to a higher and more recognised level than jack. With all that said, the man is no friggin saint at all, when he ready he does make we take rel steps backwards too and does do rel shit, and that blacklist was disgusting and maked me intensely dislike him, but I also really dislike lack of appreciation.(yes i said it, you all are ungrateful, lol)

I believe in reprimanding and not tolerating the shit that Mr. Warner does do when he ready, but that shouldn't be an excuse for totally overlooking and dismissing the great many positive things the man has done for football in this country. As an objective person, I declare that there should be both.

I'll repost this again, in case you all didn't know- that mexican coach Aguirre decide to insult Latapy, he's not even clever with it, the idiot.

Quote

With regards to Trinidad, Aguirre is skeptical of how their opponents will play away from home especially after they appointed one of their subs, Russell Latapy, as head coach.

"They put a player form the bench to be their head coach. The suspense, and I say it openly is how they will play in our field. Will he have the guts to do what he did against Costa Rica….I think they will be more cautious here than what they were against Costa Rica. I think they will be cautious and will throw themselves back a few meters," foresaw Aguirre.

I read that too, that ignorant, arrogant disrespectful bastard Aguirre, that guy was on the bench because he's 40, and in his prime he was a better than any footballer Mexico has produced in it's history, ever, and still is a footballing genius. I hope Latapy makes you eat those words Aguirre, hope he kicks them down your throat with those magical boots of his. The idiot.

I love Latapy's cool unaffectedness. So confident and has such an excellent poker face, never flinches, having someone like that as your leader and speaking for you must be reassuring and settling, and do the opposite for the opposition, Dwight has those same traits also, but Latapy is even more cool and unaffected than him, pure legend.

Ever heard of Hugo Sanchez?

Peter you really bait Zeppo into this Latapy is the best argument.  First he try to convince we some no name player from the US better than Latas.  Now you giving him cause to carry on he campaign with a Mexican.....steups....Zeppo, for the last time Latapy is/was the hottest thing in this region.....deal with it....

lol. zeppo boy, I don't give a damn about Hugo Sanchez, Latapy was better than him too, just like brown sugar said, there's never been another player in this region with as much football genius as Latapy, because of many reasons other than his football skill, he never got to show his footballing genius on the world's biggest stages and win top class competitions like the Champions league, like Dwight did, but he could have easily been on the starting eleven for ANY team in world football in his prime, and he could have easily been rated now the world over among the likes of Ronaldo, Gascoigne, Zidane, etc, but it just never was to be.
(notice I left out Maradona and Pele, because they have soared into superhuman status for most people, so I wouldn't even bother comparing anyone to them anymore, because people act like it's blasphemy, but Latapy could have been recognised to their heights also, that's the measure of the genius the man was given)

It's not over yet though, because he has been given another shot by the almighty who handed out his talent, at showing the world over his footballing genius- this time as a manager, and I'm sure he'll take it fully by the scruff of the neck this time.

Fazeer, yuh is ah asshole. I have never been so compelled to speak out against a piece of journalism. To speak about the biases that exist when you are biased yourself is mind-boggling.
If Maturana had the TNT outfit playing as they did in Tobago he would have been applauded as well. Russell remains the Magician why because with an ancient Team and a prehistoric back line we were able to give a respectable performance against the Team that is The Top Dog in The Entire Concacaf right now bar none. With Stick and Bones we went out there and though glaring mistakes on the field still left room for improvement I suspect if the score was 4-0 in favor of the Ticos that there would not be this ridiculous upheaval. The TnT back line is about 110 years old. Even in their old age their Experience shone through and they played Gladiator-like for at least 68-72 minutes. Inexperience on the part of our new and young Manager was made up for by the Heart and Soul with which the Team played which despite Beenhakker's Legacy is unmatached. Trinidad on Paper cant beat the Ticos. Its that simple MR Fazeer but it seems no one told the warriors they were the underdogs as they took the game to the Ticos and Time and Time again played football that would bring out the waggonist in anyone.
I don't agree with the part bolded...while we have never beaten Costa Rica WCQ, everytime they come here is not a sure easy win for them..Bertille drew with them in 2005..dwarika had them on edge in 2001 even tho we lose 2-0 and they score a special bullet to win in 1998 qualifying..is that kinda shit mentality you have about them being better than we is why USA and dem have we cutass reserve..

Fazeer Mohammed spoke the truth..I will take my cuss because alyuh just proving the man point..you ARE being hypocrites..

Maturana had the team look almost as if not as good against El Salvador away, Guatemala away and Guatemala at home...
in the case of El Salvador away and Guatemala at home we lost 2 points for the same reason we lost 3 points in Tobago, defensive lapses..yet Maturana is the dumbtist who shoulda never coach we..while Latas is the saviour for us playing with perceived "more intensity"

Nobody gave maturana credit for giving Hyland an extended run in the national team, but Latapy is the only coach who woulda give a youth like Tinto a run??? Da's not hypocritical?

Alyuh used to rel ben offa Mats tactics - why he take off Birchall  and bring on Glen?  why he leave Leon and Yorke on? Why he still playing akile?

Yet who criticised him vocifierously for playing Marvin Andrews? taking off the now beloved Tinto instead of the perceived ineffective Scotland? leaving on a tiring Yorke while removing Spann who had his best game in a T&T shirt while our captain fabulous faded out critically in a game yet again?

Latapy pick practically the same squad Maturana had before with the except that a couple men was suspended/injured and all of sudden latapy side make sense? REALLY? If tha's not hypocrisy what is it?

I not saying i din like what I saw in tobago, but I saw alot of things i din like get ignored by this board AND the media

I taking my cuss because the fans usually aren't objective, but the media are...

Fazeer may be a cynic, but he did not lie here...

I disagree. Latapy hit the nail on the head in a pre match interview where he said he would be focusing on getting players to run off the ball and also to chase runners when defending. I went to the game on saturday and Costa Rica's game plan was to exploit the right back who they possibly thought would have been Aklie with quick one twos , cos in the three games before Aklie ALWAYS followed the ball and had no help from Keon Daniel. There was a major improvement as Avery John showed a level head always calling for assistance AND receiving it .. Costa Rica gave up on that plan pretty quickly cos John handle them with flying colours. The other major imporvement was running off the ball when we had it , we did well in that area. I ahve been to all the local qualifying matches and watched thed rest on tv so i KNOW that there was a massive improvement in match play. I actually left oin saturday more pleased with the team performance than when we played Honduras.

I totally agree with you there Mackie. Even though we scored 2 goals against El Salvador- we played very disorganized and soft still, it was more down to El Salvador having a poor start than us excelling and deservedly leading. The only match i can remember us playing solid and good in under Maturana was against Guatemala- but they weren't high quality opposition, quality opposition decimated and embarassed us every time we met.

The thing is, this performance wasn't due to Costa Rica playing soft- it was down to us DOMINATING THEM(at the start, until we let off), which is something I can't remember seeing TnT do to top quality opposion in recent memory, not even the World Cup team came close to creating so many chances. That's why people are optimistic. Pressure does buss pipe- like we always see as other teams demonstrate on us repeatedly, this time we actually did it to them, except that we succumbed to the pressure also ourselves, that game could have easily been a 4-3 win for TnT. Our attack is creating chances and running off the ball like I can't remember us ever doing in recent history- and that's how you win football matches, you have to create scoring chances. We just have to do some serious work on our defense so we don't concede such soft goals. You see, unlike under Maturana(with all due respect to him), we can actually build plays, and we look as though we can win football matches without depending on a lucky break from a boomkick.
