Thanks again Elan; Looks like they were robbed of a winning goal.

Anyway, now they really have to tighten up in the back and score some goals..  Enter CARLOS. . .

Heard the commentators describe Hesky as a great foil (distraction to opposing defences), so his strike partner could score the goals. They said for his size and what he does to other teams he should have scored many more goals.

Immediately I thought of our own KJ. . . and I know I'm not the only one to make the mental comparison when they said that.

What do the pundits think? ?

I hope not.

Football / Re: Redknapp: Kenwyne is the next Drogba.
« on: February 24, 2008, 01:05:34 PM »
If it was a case where Kenwyne was not putting away easy chances and shouldve realistically had 10 goals for the season, i could give some credit to a criticism about his goalscoring..

But from the games I've seen, chances have been few and far between..

Against the better teams, he's been isolated alone up front leading the line, mostly trying to head the ball onto teammates, or trying to get something from set pieces..

When he has played with another striker, i hardly ever see him being the recipient of an incisive pass or played into threatening positions. The service from the wings and the midfield is piss poor.

So Kenwyne is doing the best with what he is being given to work with. His coach is elated. Other coaches in the league have sit up and taken note of his performances..

He's being compared to drogba because of his physique, his pace and his ability to physically dominate defences like no one else in the league can besides drogba, adebayor and maybe dean ashton at his best..  I see nothing at all wrong with that.. Based on his performances, the goals should come once the service improves..

Some of allyuh really eh know how to appreciate allyuh heros nuh.. steups

The voice of reason. Eloquently stated. Balanced and fair. Insightful.

Football / Re: Patterson, Elcock waived by respective clubs.
« on: February 19, 2008, 06:08:34 PM »
There is just something about the MLS I just can't seem to like. They have a way of killing off your career. How could players like Patterson not be able to break into the first team? The likes of Cornell Glen was shuffled around to other teams. Ah know there are nuff man here will be quick to say they just eh make the grade. I beg to differ. The mentality of the MLS will make the likes of Beckham, Denilson, et al feel they eh that good. Mind you, they could thrive in La Liga and other leagues but the MLS????

There is just something about the US mentality---Superior???

Methodological evaluation and assessment are indispentional to having in place all factors for a top notch program.

According to Tim Tim, "Yuh see how we Trini's like tuh tork big."

Actually implementing it is totally another story.

Of course I am hoping and praying for the latter. :praying:

Thanks Shaun and Firebrand. Your thoughtfulness and hard work is much appreciated.

Big thank you to KJ. We are all proud of you. My observations of you include a balanced mix of confidence in your ability, humility to know you need to listen to leaders, and a sense of grounding despite the increased attention and accolades heaped upon you.  :applause:

All I could say is that its a crime to not encourage that kinda flair in yuh game. Football is the beautiful game and it is beats like those that helps make it beautiful.

Does anyone know if they ever try to put together a "Harlem globetrotters" of football? Here is a nice money making idea.

Yeah, I really think Yorke is a gift to any dressing room and football pitch. He has a genuine love forthe game and his teamates. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience. He still has a hunger for victory. Invaluable!!!!!!

Does the TTFF have a policy per se or a system they use when deciding which squad (a, b, c etc) to field? Has any noticed a discernable pattern? Just wondering

Youngsters aim to impress as T&T meet Puerto Rico
Saturday, January 26th 2008

Either Khaleem Hyland or Lester Peltier could make their international debuts for Trinidad and Tobago's national senior team in today's friendly international against Puerto Rico at the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium from 8 p.m.

The two CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh players-Hyland, an 18-year-old midfielder once linked with Scottish giants Celtic, and 19-year-old Peltier, a former national under-17 striker who went on trial with Arsenal and Portsmouth last year-proved themselves over the past three weeks to make it into Anton Corneal's squad for the Puerto Rico game.

The other newcomer, Akile Edwards, is also vying for a chance to impress newly-appointed interim head coach Francisco Maturana, who joined the T&T camp in San Juan just after midday yesterday. Maturana was at the team's final training session later in the evening.

"It's good to be here for one. I think every game is important and is part of the journey. If it's a stronger nation or one of the smaller ones, once we are putting on the national shirt and we are playing then it is going to be important for us," Maturana told Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (T&TFF) media officer Shaun Fuentes.

"I will look at the game and then we return to Trinidad to prepare for the game versus Guadeloupe, where we will have some other players join the team. I am looking forward to it."

The conditions in San Juan have been sunny but a bit chilly at night time and the Puerto Ricans are taking the encounter seriously as the chance to upset the 2006 World Cup finalists is an ambition of theirs.

The last time these two teams met, T&T completed a 5-0 win at the Marvin Lee Stadium in a Digicel Cup preliminary match in 2004. Conrad Smith, in the squad for this game, was among the scorers in 2004.

Team skipper Trent Noel is confident of a good showing and result for the "Soca Warriors".

"I think everyone is very keen to play this game because we haven't played since the one in El Salvador and it's a good chance to get ready for some of the other matches coming up. We have some younger players who want to do well and I think everyone will want to give a good performance in front of the new coach. We definitely want to go home with a convincing result from here," said Noel.

Brothers Kerry and Christian Baptiste should be starters as well, while Jabloteh's Jason Marcano will be looking to impress.

Chicago Fire defender Osei Telesford will be playing his first game since returning from injury last year and forward Anthony Wolfe is also looking for his first appearance since the 2006 World Cup campaign.

Defenders Keston Williams and Kern Cupid, who both gave solid performances in their debuts in the 0-0 draw with El Salvador, are also likely to feature in the starting XI, while W Connection goalkeeper Marvin Phillip will hold his place between the uprights.

The Puerto Ricans are on a high, coming off successive victories over Bermuda and also the Cayman Islands earlier this year. They are preparing for a first round 2010 World Cup qualifier against Dominican Republic next month.

Football / Re: Kenwyne's top says managers
« on: January 14, 2008, 06:25:31 PM »
All ah could say is WOW.

Ah remember reading somewhere that he was recommended by Yorke to replace him up front. It takes class to recognize class eh.

Could you imagine what an in-form Stern John,  Scotland, Kenwyne Jones, Cornell Glenn, supported by the likes of Jemmott, Bleeder, Carlos Edwards and Roberts could do to Concacaf defenders?
First, we have to convince Jackula that his EGO should take ah back seat to the Talent that TnT has, and to PLAY all dem fellas and treat dem like the heros that they are

Yeah boy. . .ah know!! We could only hope and pray and maybe be optimistic.
