Football / Re: Thread for USA vs T&T Game (31-Jan-2021)
« on: January 31, 2021, 09:10:51 PM »
When I first heard that we were going to play US in a friendly, my initial reaction was, No!!! We are far from ready to take on the US at this time. They will only ramp up the score and rub it in our noses. Reinforce the notion that they are some type of superior foot-balling nation.
But considering that we desperately needed a game from somewhere, and that it wasn’t going to be their full strength team, I conceded that we don’t have much choice.
And that’s just the problem—putting ourselves in the position where we don’t have much choice. We will not go too far as a foot-balling nation living behind the 8 ball.
Not sure how helpful this exercise turned out to be. I’ll watch from a distance

Regardless of Honk Kong, Taiwan , Panama or Timbuktu.
Are funds unaccounted for ? Are there unexplained money disbursements and unlawful splitting of contracts ? Are there unexplained payments and non-board approved decisions ? Was there improper work and unfinished projects in and around the Home of Football ? Was there no-paymet of staff Salaries and non-payments to creditors and government offices ? Was everything on the up financially and administratively ? Did the debt grow to a substantial amount ? Who was in charge ? Who made the decisions ? Who bought material in Panama ?
Maybe, one of these guys was hacking into Trinidad and conducting the robbery from afar. What a coincidence.

Ent.

By the way, did you catch his latest version of 'in the fullness of time'? Forthcoming book blah blah blah.

DJW at times casts a pathetic figure gifted with borderline buffoonery.

He appears to believe that he is his best advocate, but there are moments when one has the impression that he would be better served by a surrogate advocating on this behalf ... because he bumbles and stumbles over the massaging he's trying to deliver. He does not appreciate the credibility gap that accompanies him nor does he service the gap with any polish.

Stunning and unnecessary. And really no longer entertaining.

Yuh know this is trending now eh. Some outgoing Leader of a nation brought it back in vogue again.

There are followers aplenty . . .

There have been a couple tackles during this first half that made me grimace in concern for Molino.

Yep, especially knowing his history.

But he is a very intelligent player. . .he has learned a lot from them.

I'm wondering what is Jones' role. I mean what did the coach tell him. Where is his creativity? Several times it seemed beter to take on his man instead of forcing a pass,

Seems they were looking to generate the opportunity from outside.

Alright, Coco yuh win. I will risk back to back weeks of you dragging us into another "international incident". ;D

Although I sense that they lacked another body (hence playing out rather than in) and coordination/timing in the box, knowing his individual quality, it's always difficult when you don't see him in an expressive mode. Might have been his own leash.

Nah ah doh think we have to worry about that here. ;D

An’ yuh doh have tuh bite eh. But last night was the most fluid and energized I’ve seen JJ play in a while.

He hasn’t been the player we know he could be. That’s also what sparked the thought of the coach’s instructions. But I do see it may just as well be his own delimitations for the self-same reasons.

BTW my team lost last night. I wanted Minn to advance and Molino to put his stamp on the league.

Football / Re: Maradona Thread
« on: December 01, 2020, 01:11:19 PM »
This argument will never die. People born in the mid 50s and after, straddle both their eras. We mostly saw Pele in his prime thru newsreel and later video. We saw Maradona in his prime in real time. We saw the best of Cruyff in real time. Those who like Maradona would say he won the WC single handily, but Pele needed superstars around him. Like Argentina does produce shithongs. Really! 3 of the top 10 players ever are from Argentina. DiStefano, Maradona and Messi. just like Michael Jordan had shithongs around him when the Bulls won 6 NBA. Argentina may have just as good or better players than Brazil, but the Brazilian brought "Magic" to the game. And Pele was of that "Magic" era.

Pele was a bona fide STRIKER. Diego was a bona fide attacking MID FIELDER. Different positions. Pele would not be as an affective midfielder as Diego. And Diego could not play as a striker like Pele. As a matter of fact, Pele and Maradona combo would have been the best. Messi-CR7 combo would have been the best also.

The younger generation would say Diego, the older would say Pele. I say both, with Pele slightly ahead.

Deeks,
I really LOVE this perspective. Well said. Good balanced take.

We also tend to prefer the superstar of our era.

I’ll keep this brief.

Don’t know whether that article is in direct response to the few comments on this page. I can’t imagine that to be the case because they’re so few and no strictly discouraging remarks.

My “Nooooooooooo” has no intention to discourage. I am a big believer in affirmation and encouragement. I see Judah as a top Trinidad talent. I wish him and his family the very best. I will be cheering for him and all our other sons of the soil plying their trade on this terrestrial ball.

Thanks for the positives, Seeker.

Blessings to all
I don't think your "No" was meant to be a discourager of sorts. I posted the article as it was something by Levi. I was just curious as to why you said "No". Were you hoping for a better league or club ? Were you hoping to continue getting a glimpse of him running out for your club ? what ? You still didn't give your reasons. I'm just curious and interested in what your thoughts are ? is all. Full respect, No negativity involved.

add: as a matter of fact, I'm not sure I quite agree with Levi, I think their are a quite a few ppl who do encourage and work extremely hard for the youths, volunteers, sans remuneration. They may not be at the forefront of the bacchanal aspect of our football. They are hardly known or recognized except by the young ppl they work with, many who don't make a name in football, yet some do remember the life lessons they learn from those individuals along the way.

Yes, that is basically it. I wanted better for him being in my mind among our brightest prospects at the moment.

It is probably true that we on our sofas do not know how hard it is for our footballers to secure good contracts.

Blessings & Best wishes
Coco

Solid stuff. Good questions and recognition by Steve. Fluent, thoughtful and honest responses from Clauzel. Sound feedback from Narada. Lots of nuggets to think about. One of the best segments.

I've noticed that Narada is quality when it comes to translating what is being communicated.

That walking on the field thing before a match is golden.

:applause:

Kudos to Steve & Narada. I just love this simple idea by Steve and dem to simply provide a forum to archive some of T&T's football.

Not only Narada's Analysis, Synthesis & Thesis but the grace with which they handled Clauzel's interview held its own beauty.

Next Interview should be: Eric White, Emmerson Dubisson, and Ian Clauzel

About the walking on the field thing . . .Ato said he used to do the same thing before a race. He would picture how the whole race would unfold before he ran it

Ah reach to just shy of the 30 minute mark of the interview, but ah had to stop. The brazen and arrogant injustice that was done to Clauzel made me pause. "We" basically screwed with the man's life and possibilities and no one sufficiently challenged the injustice of his exclusion from the NT. As a general proposition, 40 years later we are not much better at harnessing our greatest resource (people, not gas) and are masters of treating talented persons and potentially infinite contributors as expendable. Shooting ourself in the foot and willing to shoot anyone else who won't participate in the atrocity. The colonial project continues without the last Governor.

Ironic that this coincides with the passing of the Diego Maradona. It hurts that we have our share of world class great potential; but have to constantly settle for admiring and praising up others.

Sometimes I sit back and I'm mesmerized at the abundance of creativity and talent T&T have as expressed so specially in our Arts. And much of it seems undervalued.

Seeker, I know you also saw what could have been done with that mind (intellect) academically as well. It was there for those with insight to identify. The potential was not only between his feet but between his ears and his spirit--humble.

All I got to say is, Be careful what you wish (fight) for you might get it!
Now we will see what it is like to fight for injustice and prefer your oppressor because hes too big & has the money.

WATCH: United TTFA talks about the court ruling against FIFA.

https://www.youtube.com/v/UTpmuFLdYiA

Couldn't be more proud of Clint Taylor, William Wallace and Keith Look-Loy.

By Fazeer's and Rowley's reasoning and that of many, Mandela was a waste of time, MLK a waste of time, Ghandi a waste of time. What they were up against was too powerful, too much money, had all the guns Bla, Bla, Bla. They should just have accepted colonialism, apartheid, and slavery.

Thank God for people like Gobin and United TTFA who, although imperfect, are willing to promote the dignity of justice.

By-the-way it's not merely principle. It's Freedom to be all that God intended for us to be. Imagine going along with another man being your master . . .waaaaay sah.

I actually like the MU players. The backroom needs a purge ;D

Couldn't have happened against a nicer guy at a worse time is what OGS must be thinking.

I agree regarding the players. On balance, given the returns and the table, plus the dynamics of this particular loss, the technical staff will be under pressure.

I wonder if Liverpool's loss will eclipse MU's in the Media and buy OGS some time?

You know what’s so hypocritical about this board...

You have men on here preaching about Malcolm X, MLK Jr., Padmore, CLR James, Dr. Williams, Bob Marley, Marcus Garvey etc etc

But when our local fed stands up against neo colonialism and institutional racism and sell outs locally, the majority come running to denounce, criticize and undermine the actions of the few who are not only innocent but have decided, “Enough”.

Fanon’s analysis on inferiority is at play here. The precedent being set here is historic, it also opens up fifa to uncharted territory. Meaning, others will follow, and could lead to some waking up finally that an alternative is needed.

Caribbean and African football is not progressing under fifa. Nor will it reach to the level of dominance it should be at.

So you can continue to beg for your master to take us back, but that is the product of a brainwashed and enslaved mentality that doesn’t know any better.

Some people have just become comfortable with slavery.
The wouldn't know what to do with freedom.
Hand-outs. getting yuh meals on time, well dais more than enough to secure loyalty to de oppressor
The strange thing is often people are enslaved because their oppressor is afraid of them. But they themselves don't even know their own worth.

Good team, glad for de youth, woulda like to see him in de EPL though.

De man already play for 8 clubs and he only 22, like he is another John Bostock.

It only takes one really good season with this new club.

And it looks to me like he has what it takes to produce the consistency.

Either way real happy for him and by extension team T&T.

Canadians premier league fan here.

Garcia has been the best striker during this tournament.

The timing of his runs has been excellent, along with his pace and finishing.

I think he has shown he should get a chance at a higher level. He's been outstanding.

That's why we call him FROGGY in Trinidad.

Stephen Hart does also bring out de best in players, he had Kenwyne playing de best football of he career when he was T&T coach.

Interesting observation Sam. Hmmm! He certainly played some sweet ball under Hart. Remember that chest-down for Cummings to blast past the Mexican goalie.

87
Slapped back by Justice Gobin, FIFA's tactic is now fearmongering. Where are the people and their Nelson Mandela backbone?

All this pressure on Wallace but not a sound during the reign of King David?

Steups.

Do you know another group of people in the world who are so quick to accept this kinda thing from anyone else?
FIFA don't even have to try too hard. Let their own people condemn their own right to govern their affairs.
Shameful is too weak a concept to describe our people's attitude towards this unjust takeover. "Self-hate! Lack of belief in one's self while believing in others!" The abuser never just "shakes out of it" later and changes his ways, yuh know! This will continue in perpetuity. And they are empowered by the chorus of voices agreeing with their corrupt ways.

88
Just as I have been saying all along

Fifa is saying, if we can’t buy you and control you and you don’t sell out, you don’t play

That’s enslavement and corruption at the highest level

We will remove an elected team that aren’t sell outs and we can’t control, they need sell outs bc TT is a threat and always has been..

People speak about institutional racism, which brother Carmichael coined but do they understand it while it’s happening right in front of them

Cosign Bredda. Loud and clear. :salute:

Football / Re: The football sell outs have revealed themselves in TT
« on: August 27, 2020, 12:44:35 PM »
We now know who they are

They have come forward in numbers to support fifa.

So I hope people pay attention and also don’t talk rubbish afterwards

It’s clear as day who is really against TT rising as a footballing power in the region

Furthermore, it also shows how brainwashed the majority of our people are, you see it in the elections and you see it now...

Dependency instead of selfish sufficiency

Watch the bunch of "Follow Fashions" now that some NBA teams took a stand against playing basketball as they realize that there are bigger issues than basketball threatening their dignity and very existence.
Maybe now (because we can't think for ourselves) we might see some of these change their tune.
So what if we get banned. Football is not worth selling your life out for. If we're going to do anything (such as be part of world football) then do it right. What in the world are we teaching our young?

90
The most disheartening thing in all this saga is the multitude of TrinBagonians willing to let FIFA walk into their house at anytime and do whatever they want. Some people's lives are sooooooooo cheap that they are forever willing to be bought. Big man yuh know! I am disgusted.
When will we ever realize we don't need FIFA or anyone outside of ourselves to be a great footballing nation (or great at anything). Where are all our great men and women who instill self-worth into our descendants?

We have to first identify what is of greater value in our lives; always with our hands out, or standing firmly on our own two feet as endowed by our Creator?. Like kids, we are still looking for the adult to give us permission, to affirm us. Who died and made them the grantors of shalom.
Colonialism has done such a thorough job on the minds of some that they really believe that there is no life without Massa.
