Taking into account we was missing Hoyte, Hyland, Molino, Joevin and Carlyle Mitchell, we eh do too bad.

Spot on!
We play good!
I agree. Everyone gave a good account of themselves on the pitch. J.M Williams..man of the match. But or gosh Steven Hart. Two subs in the 88th minute. You serious man. I was looking for Birchall since minute 65. Dam it man :frustrated:

Proud of a scare. Why are we always satisfied with such mediocrity! We could've won this game. We should have one this game. The players did well but scare my foot!!

Buzzing for tomorrow

Good luck to the staff and players... all we want to see is Effort and everyone walking off the field knowing they couldnt give anything more.... Having said that , If we collectively give everything we will walk off that field as winners and into the semi finals

I BELIEVE... but it isnt me wearing the shirt tomorrow...  Dig Deep lads

I would like to see Birchall in for Hyland...I think it is time to unleash the hungry..Boucaud is quality and with both of them being quite mobile and energetic I think we will need both to track any Mexican attacking mids who can move the ball quickly in our 3rd...

I dont think Bleeder has the legs for that job

I would bring back in Power... Abu Bakr to me is shakey and covering ground is not his strong point..

Boss, you reading my mind. You believe there are some people who think Roberts would be more effective than Edwards. Really? What dem smokin?
Why would they put edwards on the right wing when molino is out due to suspension and jovin jones needs ah speedy partner on the wing to help with the defensive duties?

why would the coach play carlos on the right wing when he used roberts in a do or die game and he performed well, why would he revert to another winger when the initial winger came through? ah guess you know more football than stephen hart, leo beenhakker and hutson charles combined?

another mad notion was that 442 formation you second!  you expect to play speedy mexico with only four midfielders??  you didn't even suggest it in case the game goes past the full 90+, but to start the game with an attacking formation is absurd! but what do i know, i'm getting high on cow shit covered ganja, remember.
Like you and Roberts went to school together or something ah what? Why does every idea with him NOT involved is ah problem? We can't sit back against Mexico and use one of our best attacking options at the back defending. We have enough defenders. Carlos should be utilized more as an attacking force. Our strength is in the air, and if he plays that right midfield role, not only will it throw the Mexicans off guard but he could provide the balls needed for Jones and Glenn. The goal is to strike fast and hard. Not put Carlos in the back and hope the defense hold up.

Racing Genk midfielder Khaleem Hyland will not be available for Saturdays match, having been recalled to his club for a Cup clash. It was part of an arrangement between the TTFA and Genk management which stemmed from a late initial request for the player’s release for the tournament. Genk subsequently turned down the request before allowing him to join the squad ahead of the first game in agreement for his return ahead of the July 21st match with Anderlecht.

This is going to hurt alot. Lord I hope Hart don't bring in Theobold as a result! I will reallll cuss in the Dome if he do that! It was refreshing seeing positive play from our midfield last night.

The team will be just fine, Boucard is very capable, Birchall probably chomping at the bit hoping for a chance and even Theobald probably smarting from that drop and will want to prove a point. Could even throw Daniel in that role. We have decent cover
I agree. Missing Hyland won't be a big deal. He's suspended anyway. He loses the ball too dam much and was also responsible for much of the bad passing in the first two games. I think the bigger blow is that Molino is also suspended. He and Boucaud played well. Fortunately we have great choices. We should keep boucaud and bring back Daniel with Birchall. Also, we could drop Roberts and put Edwards into the right midfield, playing Glenn and Jones up front. It could go a bunch of ways as long as Theobald stays on the bench.

 :shameonyou:

roberts played his best game last night...
Maybe so, but I know this....five Roberts ain't worth one Carlos Edwards. So who would be the better player to give KJ and Glenn balls from the right? Case dismissed.

There were welcome changes. Most significantly the introduction of Glenn and Boucard. I hope Mr Hart doesn't go back to that defensive 4-5-1 formation. But, I ain't celebrating. The red card laid the game on a platter. There was very poor marking and passing, especially in the final 3rd, is still a problem. The increased tempo was great but we should have more of a killer instinct especially when we have the advantage like that. And for goodness sake, shoot the ball. Glad...but still not impressed.

Feeling this :

GK
J.Jones
Mitchell
Power
Carlos
Daniel
Hyland
Boucaud
Birchall
Glenn
KJ

Birchall as an auxiliary right winger.. can tuck in and make up extra numbers in the mid and allow Carlos the channel to attack..

better cover too when Carlos gets caught out , Birch can get back and cover well

We need warriors out there today
decent lineup  :beermug:
Looks good. But Don't care what the lineup is, if they play that rubbish like they did on Friday, is still licks. Some of these players need to grow a pair and play like they are actual professional footballers. I'm talking to you Mr Hyland!

But you see that embarrassing, ridiculous, juvenile, novice looking, unprofessional, gun to the head performance I saw in that Haiti game....it better be better than that! For the love of football, can we please stop with this defensive 4-5-1 formation? We are likely the only team with this setup. At least a 4-4-2. Goals win matches and Jones need someone to play off up front.

It sure seemed to work for Brasil.

Brazil didn't play 4-5-1. They played 4-3-3. Fred was a CF, Neymar and Hulk were left and right wingers respectively. The emphasis was on attack. Something T&T hasn't learned yet.

Coming to the Spanish team, Del Bosque will use his tactical master plan to suppress the Brazilian attack with his 4-3-3 formation.
Felipe Scolari will opt for a 4-3-2-1 formation against ‘The Spanish Fury’.

Unquote

This is clearly not a 4-3-3 because the last three should suggest that there are three forwards which was not the case.
So looking at de winning formula, one could clearly see that Brasil played One forward - they weren't starved for goals either; they continued to create opportunities and most importantly, they always had 7 defenders wokkin. so they played a 7-2-1. Neymar and de right flank man is de two. Everybody else ball winning to get it to Fran; who will take it to Stan!

I still backin de doubles style though- plenty pepper!
First off,7-2-1 is not even a formation. Second, no Brazil team in the history of football has ever played nor will ever play with seven defenders. Brazil played 4-3-3 or if you want to get all technical, 4-3-2-1. Alves, Luiz, Silva, Marcelo (Defenders), Paulinho, Oscar, Gustavo (Midfielders), Hulk and Neymar will play behind Fred as second strikers or off to the side as left and right wingers.

Guys! You don't play a system because other teams play that way. You play a system base on the type of players you have after the coach does his experimentation and then to create balance and to play a certain way hoping for success from the squad he selected. SH just started coaching this team he deserve all the credit thus far with only one game under his belt and still a long ways off.

Example:Roberto Carlos the former outside wing back who played for Brazil in his prime was among 4 defenders during his time but it appeared as though they played with 3 defenders at the back because he (Roberto) was a speedy left back who was always running up and down the flanks at a high rate, he was used in the attacking formation and a defensive formation as well an option that benefited the squad with tremendous success.
I agree with you, but it seems no matter who the coach was, for quite a few years now we've been stuck with this stupid 4-5-1 formation. We need no develop more attacking players so we can change this system. We have no real wingers, maybe except for Carlos Edwards who always seems to end playing right back. A couple more players like him and we'll be on our way.

This is a hit or miss team at best. Not saying they can't do well, but I hope that Mr Hart, or the players aren't judged too harshly on their performance. They, after all, have not been given a lot of time to prepare. Never the less, a step forward in my book regardless of the bad timing in the change in staff. Go warriors. ;D

When we decide to hire persons who are properly qualified for a job based on solid credentials (not who your daddy is and who you know and who know you etc etc), then we can actually expect something good to happen. Why is anyone one even wasting their virtual ink complaining about the team's performance. Do we expect a man who was is charge of the women's team for quite some time and never even qualified for a world cup (much easier than to do than the men's team), to suddenly propel the warriors to the glorious heights of competitive, international football? This is a different stratosphere, and no offense Mr Shabazz, but you don't even know you need a space suit, far more how to get there.

Trinidad and Tobago has been involved in international football for over 100 years. It that time, we have qualified for the world cup only once. It has become blatantly obvious that, despite the abundance of talented players we posses, we lack the knowledge (Maybe even the desire) and the wisdom of how to use, nurture and maintain this talent. A lot of us think we know how, most of us pretend we know how and in the end we continue to fall flat on our face without actually making the effort and acquiring the resources to make sure we actually know how. We continue to spin in circles, trying to catch our tail like a dog with no sense. Sit boo boo sit...good dog.

Not at the team, but the fact we keep planting peas and expect to get corn. Trinidad football is nowhere. At least no where good. We still hiring coaches who have no worthwhile experience, we have a Technical director who doesn't know his left foot from his right arm, a non existent or non functioning (take your pick) National football program, a non existent national football academy and new President who so far has demonstrated that he has no idea how to rebuild a completely shattered, worthless TTFF organization. DISAPPOINTED. Please. I'm shocked we can even put a team together these days.  >:(

Why....why....why do we persist in hiring persons who cannot, should not and are incapable of coaching at this level. The post of national team coach is supposed to be the holy grail of coaching. It should only be given to individuals who have demonstrated their ability to produce a WINNING TEAM, at the highest level of competition in the sport, over a relatively long period of time. Can someone tell me who Mr Shabazz and Mr Charles have coached and what have they won, or acquired that they were even considered for this position? Do we love awarding persons for mediocrity and pure failure? Mr Shabazz was incapable of doing anything significant with the women's team, so we reward his failure with another national appointment? Really? Mr Charles, to my knowledge,  has done nothing in the coaching arena but he receives an appointment as well? What is going on here? Maybe I should take a few coaching classes and sign up for the job! These appointments are unethical, highly suspect and completely ridiculous. The team is in complete disarray! I fear my friends the gold cup is a total loss.
