What about Track & Field / World Junior Championship Predictions
« on: July 19, 2010, 05:04:46 PM »
Here are my predictions . I do not know much about the Juniors outside of the Caribbean. Fill in if you can.

200m Kirani James GRN (G), Shota Iizuka JAP (S), Odane Skeen JAM or Charles Simon USA (B)
400m Kirani James (G)
800m ?
110mh ?
400mh Jehue Gordon (G)
4x100 Trinidad or Jamaica (G), Germany or USA (B)
4x400 Trinidad (G), Jamaica (S), Germany (B)

Discuss Quincy Wilson TRI/Chad Wright JA (bronze)

Women
100m USA (G)
200m Allison Peter UVI (B)
400m?
800m
110mh?
400mh?
4x100 USA (G), Germany (S), Jamaica or UK (B)
4x400 Jamaica (G), Trinidad (S) Bahamas (B)

My predictions might seem a little "hopeful". And if it is put up your own predictions before you bash mine. But If my predictions are acurate then T&T will finish with a record 5 medals. All of these predictions are within T&Ts reach.

Let's have some more vision than that.

Jehue Gordon in 2 years plus a more mature, more seasoned Quow plus our new crop including Sorrillo can mean a finals berth in London in the 4x400 (first time since 1992) - and the 4x100, well, I wouldn't worry about arguably the world's most consistent 4x100m team since 2001, which has gotten stronger with the emergence of Bledman and Sorrillo, and of course the wild card of a healthy Brown.

Come on man.

When "Gawd on de pitch" saying..."Oh Gawd, there goes our silver"....allyuh ent realize the man talking to himself. No stress   ;)

Lol. I was not referring to myself as "Gawd or God" Conquering.

I admit that after seeing the results of MB and AA race, I thought that was it for the relay. Maybe I am comparing T&T with JA too much (something that I think Trini is notorious for). JA is performing spectacularly in all running events. And T&Ts performance this year has been below par......  with of course some exceptions.

Thanks AB for putting things into perspective for me. I will defnitely take back my last statement. But i can tell you all this, T&T track has "alot" of hard work to do for the next 2 years.

On another note, the juniors are prepared to have their best ever world junior championship. I think there are three #1 rankings for T&T (mens 400mh, 4x100 & 4x400) and two for JA (mens 100 and womens 4x400). If Michelle was healthy then we would be ensured a medal.

T&T should finish with about 3-5 medals in the wjc.

bad day for Trinbago sprinting

Overall, the season has not been the best for T&T sprinting (with the exception of KAB and KB). Based on what I have seen this year, T&T track deserves nothing more than a C. That does not include juniors.

Wow, like they stop invite Trinis for the 100m? Out of all of the events, thats the one T&T have the most depth in.

We won bronze in the 800m by Nero and in the men 4x4. This is a good meet for our athletes. Especially with the US participating. There was also 3 4th places. Good go and good luck in the future.

Overall very poor performance. Bahamas kicked our ass on the medal table.

Bun Spain! Everyone knows their fans are the most racist towards black players. Aint some of you sick of cheering for the colonizer teams? I am glad this world cup is over.

yuh record stick..nearly all "white" countries "colonize" black countries.

I know. It seems like this thing called the "world cup" makes the colonizer look like good guys. Hopefully a different story in 2014.

Richard and Kelly-Ann are both running in the 100m.

Hopefully RT gets at least 3rd or better. Not sure, but I think he hasn't beaten Powell since the Olympics.

Black people syndrome, party first and work after.

One cut ass for them and they go wake up.

They have a chance to represent Africa and they done celebrating before kicking a ball.

Nov 19th 1989 for them.

Yeah Sam,  if I seen a Carib or a bottle of rum in the video, then I would agree with yuh.

2801
Yeah he should be running sub 45 by now

He was given lane 1!!!

Has anyone ever run sub 45 in lane 1? I dont think that he has run sub 45 for this season. Hopefully this changes for him.

I saying this from now. If we don't develop a core of 3 attacking mid and 3 defensive mid(all with good skills) we ain't going nowhere.

And of course just one good keeper playing in the top flights REGULARLY, like Hislop.

hmmm 6 players in top flight leagues at the same time? lemmeh try

2003
Marvin Andrews Livingston - SPL
Russell Latapy Rangers - SPL
Brent Sancho Dundee - SPL
Collin Samuel Dundee Utd - SPL
Jason Scotland Dundee Utd - SPL

Dwight Yorke Blackburn - EPL
Stern John Birmingham - EPL

ah reach 7... continuing

Avery John Longford - LOI (ah stretching here lol) but thais 8

Ok, I dont consider SPL as top flight. SPL is on par with MLS in my books. Well let me rephrase my last post and say that 6-7 players playing on top flights teams (so in the case of SPL only Rangers and Celtic and maybe the third or fourth place team). When I said top flight, I really meant EPL, La liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and French league.

We made it in 06 with less. And trust me if we get about 6-7 players playing on the Tottenhams the Lazios, the Schalkes the Galatasaray's (as long as they not all forwards) we will make it again.

I think that we have a better chance at making it to the WC, if Concacaf gets another spot (even though i dont think this is going to happen). FIFA should be more creative and maybe issue 3 full spots and 2 half spots to Concacaf. One playoff against Europe and another against Africa or Asia.

Yeah, his scoring record was not good at all. But he never played  bad. He was at Wigan to score goals but never really did. If he gets another crack at the Premiership, we will see an improvement in goal scoring. It looks as if he wont be in the premiership when August comes around.

Question:

Can Uruguay match T&T's history of accomplishments in Track and field?

Definitely not!

Each nation has a fortay or two. T&T have about three (Football, Track and Cricket). Half of the population supports all three (football, track and cricket) while the other half supports mainly cricket.

I will tell you something though, Track and Field is on the rise in T&T. I think we will see much more accomplishments in T&T Track and Field before we see a major accomplishment in T&T football.

Realistically, all we need is about six or seven players playing in a top flight league (and i dont mean MLS) and we will make it to the world cup again.

Yeah RT have to get stronger. For the first 50 he did not look bad, but he started fading away as the race progressed. Based on his performances this year I would rank RT about 6 or 7 in the world. Behind Dix and maybe even behind Yohan Blake.

Based on what I have heard, it sounds as if this was a good performance by T&T athletes. Anyone know the medal standings and points?

Looks like JA dominated again but T&T and BAH are catching up.

Yes Ghana! represent we in the Caribbean!

SAF, VCB, SS, Carrie Russell, Kerron S, Samantha H, Simone Facey, Brooks, Aleen B.

All these Jakan ladies have run 11.1xs or faster.

That is exactly my point T&T need at least 5 running 11.1s to be a medal contender.

Whats up with the IAAF ? They seem to pay little attention to T&T track and field. The stats for T&T athletes are usually missing or are never up to date. Maybe its me, but i have always noticed this discreprency with them.

KABs 10.98 is of course the story of the championships. That 10.98 erased all speculation surrounding her 10.84 performance in Clement.

I must say i see lots of potential for Marcus Duncan. I expect this guy to be the next one to move up the ranks.

But Michelle lee is improving well.

ques,,,,,,,,,,,,being tht michelle ran a faster time than 3rd and 4th place in the women 100m..........could they use her as a relay leg on the national women 4x100??

That would be the right move. 11.32 is a good time for an 18 year old. I think she will go faster by the end of the year. By next year she should be in the 11.2s. It will be perfect timing considering that next year is world champs. Womens 4x100 need two more 11.1s to be a medal contender. JA have about 5 women that can run 11.1s and under. Right now T&t women 4x100 will probably come 5th or 6th, which is a great improvement.

hahahahahahahahaha

what animosity toward brown?  Like yuh is ah facking dunce?  your profession as what?  ah orderly in a hospital?  steups haul yuh dunce ass nah....please.

Refer brown for some help he needs it to get his mind right, den and only den will be be back running without so many injuries.

Mayb he will learn to take advice from those who know better than him and who have accomplished MUCH more than he in track.

thanks, but is now I know why chirren in Trinidad getting on so badly, people like you in charge ah dey mental health care...hahahahahahahahaha  joke ah de facking year for me

I am far from an orderly in a hospital.... I have to offer help when I witness a person in need. Sorry if I offended you. But using this post as therapy or an opportunity to air out all whats in you is ok but you should speak to someone in person Trinity, because if you went back and read your posts, you will see what your saying is uncalled for.

I agree Jusbless, when it reaches the stage of mother jokes, it is clear that he has run out for things to say. Mother jokes...so highschool.

I really do not want to say this because Trinity might actually need some help. But lets try ignoring him for now. I mean dont respond to anything he says. He will keep quiet.... trust me.

2817
I am starting to get a little concerned about Trinity. That animosity towards DB could eventually lead towards anger and God forbid that he takes it further and innocent people get hurt. Maybe we could refer him to a not for profit agency or a community health center so he can get some help. In my profession I actually have a duty to help people like Trinity before its too late. In fact, I could get disciplined if I ignore the signs and do not offer the opportunity for counselling.

Trinity. Is everything ok. If you need to someone to chat to I am here for you brother.

2818
Well said STMB. We all hope the best for him. At 25/26 he does have a steep hill to climb. But what is remarkable about him is that he always rebounds and runs decent times. For that reason, I am not ruling him out.

I am pretty sure if he gets a season or two without injury he will be able to improve on his pb.

2819
Doh confuse it. My affiliation is with Richard Thompson. Wayne Lewis is the coach of Renny Quow and past coach of many of TNTs best including Ian Morris.

Cool. Let we see wah he could do wit Peterbuilt.....

put him to use handing out water to the real athletes....he is a has been

:shameonyou: :shameonyou: :shameonyou:  show some respect please !!!

Trinity you need to cool yourself. This is not a place for insults. Come on

2820
Steups, Brown come like man using donkey cart to sell he coconuts when he have a truck he could use....steups.

brown cyar beat he way out a wet paper back....stop bigging up a man who is done!

I support the man when he was fit and healthy, he is not...ALLYHU COME LIKE DE ANTS AND DE RUBBER TREE..ALLYUH HAVE HIGH HOPES!

Trinity, it is obvious that you have something personal against DB. Like wha he pick up your woman or something? If you are going to throw cheap insults maybe you should do it somewhere else. This post is not to put our athletes down. This post is called "athletes to watch" not "athletes to knock".
