Sometimes Twitter not to reliable.

2854
Perhaps, But I was not expecting this kid to make the quarter, but he did. I was not expecting him to make the semi, but he did. I was not expecting him to make the final but he did and he finished 4th. Another way to look at it, Bolt only made semi final in 2004 when he was 17. Gordon's performance at 17 exceeded Bolts. Trinidad has something special with this one.

High expectations in T&F is good for Trinidad. Just ask Jamaica!

2855
Does anyone know if Gordon can run the 400m? I beleive this youth has the potential to run a strong 400m as well as 400m hurdles.

Imagine 17 and running 48 sec in 400m hurdles. I am pretty sure he can run sub 46 or 45 right now. What Bolt is doing in 100m and 200m, Gordon will do in the 400m hurdles & possibly 400m in next 4-5 years. Maybe even earlier.

Big up Gordon!

2856
The Caribbean? Which Championships have you been watching? You mean Jamaica.

I think that Jamaica's success is due to their organization/infrastructure, youth track and field programs, PASSION/CULTURE and of course Jamaican "Pride".

No I am not a yardie, but lets give Jamaica the credit they deserve. Sure it is an accomplishment for the Caribbean but it is an accomplishment for Jamaica first. Trinis dont hate.

But if this championship is a sign of anything it is that Trinidad T&F is coming up. Trinidad is where Jamaica was in the 1990s.

Oh Sh1t Bolt jus break his 200m - 19.19

2857
Lucas. Big up! Keep running hard!

Chambers for sure! Then the Doc

2859
Call it bias or what. DB would have been in the semi.

2860
Just seen the startlists for 100m men. Will there be a Trini in the final? Hmmm. I really dont want to say.

2861
Good run Gordon!

2862
Should have gone with DB!

2863
So no DB. I wonder what it is now.

Yeah but remember there are other sprinters who run for this country who read what is posted in here and would take that to heart. One did just today.  None of us would want to discourage our men.women at this time no matter our personal picks/feelings.

Yeah. Yuh right AB.

200: Bolt, Gay, Crawford
400: Merritt, Wariner, Quow
110H: Robles, Trammell, Payne
400H: Phillips, Van Zyl, Jackson
4x100m: JAM, USA, TRI
4x400m USA, BAH, GBR

WOMEN

100: Stewart, Fraser, Jeter
200: Felix, Campbell-Brown, Ferguson
400: Richards, Williams, Krivoshapka
100H: Harper, Mc Clellan, Perry
400H: Demus, Walker, Lucas
4x100m: JAM, USA, RUS
4x400m RUS, USA, JAM

Notes:

European athletes will be almost a complete non-factor in any event with starting blocks, including Ohuruogu who, after a stellar run of being 400m Commonwealth, World and Olympic champion in the last 3 seasons, will not factor in Berlin.

I am not as convinced as I was in Beijing that Tyson Gay's leg will NOT hold up for 4(8) rounds. I think he squeaks by fitness-wise, but not enough to trouble the 'Lightning'. Gay has my eternal respect for being the only one of the established veterans this year to RESPOND to the Bolt challenge, and not run FROM it. I would like to pick him - maybe if he sat out the 100m and caught a tired Bolt at 200m which MIGHT work, but (as I never did) Gay won't sit out the 100m even though he is probably a better 200m runner, and unfortunately MAY re-injure his groin trying. I can't pick Tyson because I can't picture the point at which he pulls away (even a little) from Usain Bolt. Not happening.

This is certainly the first time in history that a man (TYSON GAY) who THIS SEASON has run 9.77 and 19.58 LEGALLY, is being picked by almost no-one to win his events - not even Track and Field News.

I picked Trinidad in the relay for 3rd last year and many scoffed at it being a 'HOMER' pick. They got 2nd in Beijing. Same pick this year, even though the parts aren't as strong. Stuff happens in a relay competition - definitely did last year (USA, UK)

Josanne Lucas, formerly of Auburn University, becomes TnT's first female medalist at WORLDS ever, in the 400m H.

The W 100m hurdles is the hardest event to pick this year, so I chose according to what history shows happens - Bobby Kersee athletes win. ('93, '95, '99, '04, '05, '07, '08 are the years a Bobby Kersee 100m hurdler was world or Olympic champion - ridiculous amounts of success!) Mc Clellan is in there because no hurdler not named Terrence Trammell starts better under pressure.

Asafa? - No. Despite my firm belief when I said it on TV on the track in the stadium in Kingston earlier this year. I would love to be wrong here, but....no. The saga continues.

M400H - Hard to call as well, everyone is all over the place beating everyone else. I smell a first-time winner. Isa has paid his dues.

Sanya, if she wins this one, as I believe she will (of course, I and everyone else thought this last year as well) will NEVER lose another championship in her prime. Take that.

200m for men will be closer than everyone thinks it will. 100m Men? - er - not so much. 100m women will be close - for 3rd.

How come no-one noticed that Melaine Walker smacked hurdle 6 and still ran a SB in Monaco? She is one of the most dangerous 2nd place picks here, but I think she will just lose to the in-form-to-leave-Berlin-as-the-400mH WR-holder Demus, who finally confirms the greatness predicted for her a decade ago.

Belgium, with the Borlees, might be a factor in the 4x400m with 3:04 already without them, but I have heard little from the twins since NCAAs, so no medal.

3 medals for Trinidad. Not bad. I think Bailey will get Antigua's first medal. Jamaica will leave with at least 7 medals. 5 golds for sure.

DB did not even leave the blocks when he was disqualified. He just twitched and probably moved his foot. Regardless it was a disqualification. However, you could see that he really wants to get his moment and the false start is partly due to his lack of participation in circuits this year. I still think that he is hungry to prove himself and his lack of racing in major circuits contrbitued to his disqualification.

Nightmare you might have took my comment out of context. I never said that disqualification is a sign of hunger. I said that the disqualification is a sign of his hunger.

I still not counting out meh boy!

Yeah, grabbing locks in a game is very very dangerous. It is similar to grabbing the helmet of a player in an American football game. Grabbing lock should be an instant red card.

We at least know where MB and RT stand in regards to Berlin. Still dont know where DB stands. Tomorrow will give us an idea of where he is.

Oh yeah, as I said if TnT runs sub 38 they will get silver. Expect some surprises though.

To get the silver TnT will have to run sub 38 for sure. The yanks can get pretty close to that.

Well. I still believe a trini will be in the semi and in the final. Call it bias or having alot of faith. Your right AB. These last couple of races is giving us an idea of who will be where.

By the way is the team named for Berlin? Jamaica is sending 30 or so athletes, Canada is sending 30, UK is sending about 60. I figure TNT is sending anywhere between 16-20. Can anyone confirm?

Very poor performance in Mens 100m for T&T. Those times would hardly make the semi much less the final in Berlin. Hate to say this but, a medal in the 4X100 is beginning to look a little distant. I hope I am proved wrong. I think that JL could pull off a medal. She is now a serious contender for a bronze or maybe even a silver. Could definitely see her in the top 4.

No Trinis in the semi? Not even one. Ok I will meet you halfway and say two in the semi. Still a toss up between the three. Also do you know who is confirmed for the 100m? I heard that iaaf was not pleased with the false start in Port of Spain.

Does anyone know which other Jamaicans will be in the 100m, other than Bolt and Powell. I figure that Blake is questionable. Also, how much competitors are allowed from one country per event? I heard it was three, but will four Jamaicans be in the 100m men because of having the olympic and world leading champion?

So is silver medal at world championships. And all time world junior champion. Not much difference between the two.
