Football / Re: Men's U-20 Football Team Thread.

Promise, hope. .

Question, can the current senior NT pull off a result against Suriname senior NT? Nope. Can we pull off a tie against Haitis senior team? Nope. You see where I'm going with this. Our u20 team does not look bad. There is promise and hope for this team. They play the game with less fear than the current senior team. I think they look better than our senior team. Less heart attack football. That u20 team will beat Bahamas senior team. I really feel so.

Dahis all well and good, but they will be disbanded if they can't defeat Costa Rica tomorrow. And, you'll recall that CRC happens to be the team that willingly engaged us in a pair of recent friendlies (for obvious reasons) + their observation of the match against Sporting San José. Unless the coaching staff has an epiphany in its tactical approach to matches, the result is likely to be along similar lines.

The team has talent but it is being underutilized and undercoached. Also, we would have been facing Jamaica had the coaching staff better managed the opening match.

I give Angus a passing grade, but it is marginally passing. He could do more, and should be doing more, to impose coaching on match outcomes.

Thus far, none of his post-match comments fully describe footballing reality: they describe the universe as he has imagined it or has preferred to sell it.

He needs to be more adaptable to circumstances that arise DURING the matches and to recognize moments and locations in which the opponent is vulnerable rather than to fixate exclusively on our perceived vulnerabilities. He certainly ought to reconsider his view of what is to happen in midfield in the central channels.

You're right. I like the way things are looking for this team. Costa Rica tied us and then narrowly beat us. They tied JA too. With that, I think we are not a lost cause with the next game.

Fair to say Angus is a "better" u20 coach than senior.

Yeah we playing the game hard against ourselves. We are our worst opponent.

The game that'll probably decide things is the Bahamas game. We need to beat Bahamas convincingly. At least 3. Not just a get by win. Mark my words, we beat Bahamas by 3, we will walk through Nicaragua. A get by win will put too much pressure on us. Dais wha I see

Right now I watching JA play Suriname. The level of play and intensity I seeing here, we far behind. I even watch the Grenada and El Salvador game, and Grenada play them out good. I have no doubt that Grenada could bust we ass right now. If Nicaragua beat Bahamas, then the SVG on Friday is going to be the game that determines our fate. We must win that game. A tie and Nicaragua will control our destiny.

Btw, that win against Bahamas yesterday was a loss in my books.

The bad news, we should've beaten them by at least 3. The bad news, this sets us up for another showdown in Bahamas where they can take away points from us.

The good news, this group is wide open. And it seems as if anything can happen.

I don't know what this team is missing. But it is more than one thing..

Maybe they lost one of them on that adventure of a bus ride to Nicaragua.

Might be just me, but I think this is the worst spell in ages.

Jereem ran a pb in the 400m yesterday. 44.79. That was only good enough to warrant 5th place. He did not time his race well at all. I think he's on to something big if he makes the a
necessary adjustments. Regardless good pb.

What about Track & Field / Re: Carifta Games 2022
« on: April 25, 2022, 05:26:17 PM »
None of our juniors are showing "go pro" caliber yet. 11.5 and 23.3 (dating back to 2019) so far in the year she turns 19 means she hasn't shown PRO ability yet. It might be there, but that is way overreaching.
Any high school female sprinter thinking pros has to be 11 low and 22 mid to high I'd say at least to even get looked at twice and that was before the industry changed post-covid. The last 2 female high school sprinters to go pro had PRs of 11.13/10.94/22.48/22.50 credentials

I agree. I know she ain't ready to turn pro. But it was mentioned that she might not be pursuing NCAA and will focus on getting into the "senior program"... which is .. Not sure what that really means. Because the senior program does not look promising.

@Trini she did beat the Lyston in 2019. The thing is Lyston was in the right environment where Bascombe wasn't. This reminds me of something that occurred in 2005.. AB know where I going with this one. Kelly Ann Baptiste beat Shelly Ann Fraser Price at Carifta in the 100m. Then looked what happen. Not to take anything away from KAB.

So the proof is in the pudding. The talent is there. But how the talent is groomed and developed is where the divide is.

Didn't know that. I agree if she walked away, she should be the one reaching out. Hopefully both sides see the opportunity that is available

WATCH: With her second beaver-trick of the season, Kennya Cordner has increased her goalscoring tally to 31 for the season as Fenerbahçe demolished Altay 11-0.

It's a good thing she ain't on the team. We might actually have a chance to get a spot.

AB, what you think about Bascombe? You can tell she has potential, but no one with real expertise helping her. I heard she plans on skipping college and turning pro. She might be a good one for your camp? I hope she not planning on turning pro and staying in TT..

Indeed. I thought 2012 London (most medal count) was a sign that things were improving. . My analysis- the TTNAAA thought that they were doing things right (despite not doing anything..), hence they kept everything the same thinking that they made an accomplishment. Same thing with Carifta, one good year and the administration thinks their plans are working. Rum shop mentality. .

Concacaf WCQ women

Group A : USA, Mexico, Jamaica,  Haiti (Group of death)

Group B :Canada, Costa Rica, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago

The most favored and preferred grouping. Let's see if we conspire to screw it up.

Anyone see a squad list? The other nations have released their squads. By now CONCACAF would have had the rosters. Why is it a treasure hunt to locate T&T's representatives?

Good point. Also where is the scouting report from Canada and England. We are the only team out of Jamaica and Guyana who hasn't tapped into the Canadian and English pool. Trust meh on this one. Them girls in Canada and England are receiving a blind eye. Purposely being avoided.

Rank   Nation   Gold   Silver   Bronze   Total
1    Jamaica[a][c]   36   22   14   72
2    Trinidad and Tobago   12   16   12   40
3    Bahamas   6   10   13   29
4    Barbados   3   7   8   18
5    Grenada   2   0   2   4
6    Martinique[a]   1   4   1   6
7    Saint Kitts and Nevis   1   1   0   2
 U.S. Virgin Islands   1   1   0   2

It was actually 12 Gold in 2010. Compared to 2. To be fair to the athletes, they gave it their all.

The 6"11 High jumper has a promising future in athletics or basketball. His athletism for that height has scouts watching him. It's a pity he got injured as he would have gotten another gold for rhe long jump.

Also the 1500m u17 boys champion, was quite impressive. He missed out on the 800m gold by the Jamaican ot course.

Bascombe has the potential to be a real threat. You can tell she is talented but her execution of the race is nowhere near the 2 Jamaican twins. You can see that it's the TRAINING that is making Jamaica dominate. If Bascombe executed at least half of her race she would have challenged for a gold. She is big, her turnover will give her an advantage over the smaller girls. She is the future of TT women's sprinting.

Finally we got a good contender in the girls 400mh. The Jamaican girls that beat her won the event in Champs. Fox goes to school in Jamaica. She came 3rd in Champs.

There were about 4 or 5 chances we missed out on Gold. Let's see what happens next year.

That mountain is climbable. The 3rd place team in both groups will advance to a playoff.

Have we looked at the Canadian pool ? I don't see any Canadian girls in the team. Also I haven't seen any from England.. Scouting ?

As for the other group, Haiti has gotten way better recently. And Jamaica is always finding English girls so they will be ready for Haiti.

In 2010 TT won 40 medals at Carifta. 10 Gold. Ever since then the medal tally has decreased.. while the medal tally for the other nations have increased.

Jamaica continues to get stronger and stronger. .

We just missed a bunch of opportunities. We are going to pay for not bringing in a veteran like Yaya.

TT 0 - 1 Guy

Yep

Allyuh really think that the 13 we put pass TCS was a sign we okay. Man, this women team playing real bad. This is become a repeat of the men's campaign.

according to the stats we have no shots on target
Can Jones bring someone who has refused to join the team. Come on Man!

You sure is that? I not doubting you.. But I find it hard to believe that she will say no to her last opportunity, considering her age..

See why I doh feel good when ah team doh challenge we........levels doh get tested and we doh know where is apparently we eh really get anywhere, jus up d tempo lil bit and  :'( :'( :banginghead:

Basic stuff breds.. Clear the ball.. don't let the last player dribble the ball. Too many times they trying to dig themselves out of the back by dribbling the ball. For this game, they got to clear the ball.

Tactics off by KJ. Need a new goalkeeper. A solid centerback and a solid general in the middle. Bring back Yaya. Also I don't really see the leader of the squad.. That means we need one.

Bring back Maylee.   :) That midfield situation was woeful.

Hope lessons were learned tonight.

Heart attack..

2-2 last minute goal by Hutchinson. We get away. Bring back Yaya

Both ah allyuh should know better… things don’t work so or makes a difference like that.. allyuh experienced man !

Well things need to change. I would have brought in Yaya, especially for this game. She never played a game in front of her home crowd. I don't think she would have struggled here. Plus she only handing out goals to them keepers in Turkey. Even the worst coach wouldn't overlook this opportunity.

There's a few Canadian girls that are being overlooked. Ask why we don't have any from CAN.. Guyana and Jamaica tapped into their Canadians. We have not.

We had 2. Both right in front of the goal. Just a tap in.

Bad call by Jones. For a game like this, BRING IN YUH VETERAN. Yaya would have been playing in front of she home crowd in Bacolet. Yuh dunno she would of light up the goal..

Haha. Yuh already know. This team did not convince me. I knew the 2 -0 score against Dominica was a sign we in trouble.

I've been watching the game from the first 10mins. And I watch how Guyana grown into the game. Since their goal, their confidence has increased two-fold.

Guyana 0 - 0 Nicaragua

Guyana coming with an all out attack on Tuesday. Mr Jones, don't mess this one up. We have faith in you.
