Jan Williams....not fit...too fat. The #15 is not up the level.. #10 playing too deep in the midfield..unless he really playing#8....if that is the case there is no playmaker..The forwards could be dangerous only if they could get one ball going forward.

Overall improvement ..but can't string two passes together and their touch like brick.

Final score...2-0 Guatemala.

I really don't know why John Williams put all his faith in Charles ...if I were John Williams I would have brought in a Coach with international experience ..one would a solid track record ..  one who understands youth development.

The way how they operate obviously makes them happy...use a bunch of players as supporting cast for few prospects  ..I don't think it's fair to the players.

The way the players have to play football is so controlled..they play as though they are in a straight jacket..

the coach doesn't allow creativity in the football..the way they have to move the ball is so robotic and when they have to play without the ball ...that's a true reflection of the coach's depth of knowledge or lack thereof ...players do exactly what the coaches ask of them  after all they don't know anything else.

These Trini teams and local coaches to include Frverier don't know who to possess ball, neither play without possession..

These Costa Ricans can score seven...no problem

Whenever yuh talk to Steve David, Archibald, Jan, De leon , these guys would tell yuh ..was Dom Basil Matthews....who was responsible for makin dem...

Nine Benedict's men on the National team..

Five  Trinidad players got drafted into the new NASL in 1968...three from Benedict's  ......Lincoln Phillips and Gally Cummings from the North

The  Benedict's trio... Warren Archibald and Jan Steadman to New York ...Leroy Deleon to the west coast..Dom Basil say they couldn't  break up the trio...they go together on the same team or not at all..that's why three Benedict's players went to the New York Generals....Gally went to Atlanta.

What Hart needs to do is share his philosophy with the youth Coaches so that he could get the type of players he desires in the future.

By only dealing with them when they come to him as seniors would always be challenging.

Hart is the best man for the job at this point in time.

The local coaches should get close to him and pick his brain.

Football Supporter I apologize for being so cruel in my criticism of the team...it was a spirited performance by the players.

I was overly harsh on the #8 because I thought he was a foreign player and based on that belief I held him at a higher standard. Now... I applaud his efforts.

The loss of seven starting players would be a hard blow to the team.

I however had difficulty in trying to figure out the objectives of the Coach on the day...maybe things would be better next game

Banter I don't live in Trinidad so I am not responsible for messing up de youths like yuh say..I am glad that you agree with me that some local coaches are doing that..

I know for a fact that Ross Russel will not win the Pro League this year...and if he continues to coach in this Champions league, he will not win a single game and will lose every match by multiple goals..

It doesn't matter how long he's in charge..he was handed the reigns of the Caribbean Champions ..they looked worse than a fete match side.

The Connection kids would have done much better.

De Coachman is clue-less...the #8 is ineffective with the ball and worthless without it...there is no defensive midfield ...no sweeper..and the wing-backs are invisible...

The keeper...not fit!

Well ..the Mexicans realized how easy it is ..because every situation is a 1v1, no pressing at all and the man markers can be moved out of vital space while a free second attacker could become a first at any given moment..goals like rain...

It is not possible to put pressure on the ball and man mark simultaneously.

I feel that Stuart Charles is a very good coach I am impressed with what I am seeing thus far but there is a fundamental flaw in the tactical philosophy relative to playing without the ball.

He deploys the first defender to pressure the ball while the second and third defender man mark...that's ok.

The problems begin when the first attacker passes the ball...the moment the ball moves, a second defender leaves his man to become the first defender.. in doing so the ball moves to his man who instantly becomes the first attacker...at this moment there is no first defender...he is left in no man's land while all other defenders are man marking.

Besides this crucial tactical flaw..I am impressed with the ball movement, the technique, tracking, speed of play for a Trinidad team...not bad.

I am a strong critic of Trinidad coaches and Trinidad football, however I have been silent on Stephen Hart.

After careful deliberation and assessment of his output thus far, I can say without doubt that he can take us to WC in Russia.

I sincerely feel that we can qualify quite easily under his leadership once the logistical requirements are met.

What he has produced on the field of play so far is phenominal.

I think that he needs some help though.

He needs help in getting the players  to move the ball faster, to utilize combinations better, and develop the play from the back thru the midfield with better efficiency.

Some people on this site are critical of Abu Bakr but he is a very good passer, and a pretty decent ball winner.

The two Jones's are top class and the rest of the team are okay.

Some of you are calling for foreign players...how much of a difference they could make would be dependent on quality and role. The team needs top class defensive midfield and maybe a #10....other than that we can get there without foreign players.

Jan Michael Williams is not fit!

Not a bad Gold Cup but don't expect anything different in the qualifiers without radical change to the status quo.

171
In this game we went three goals up because we pressed up top won the ball in that place and finished . The set play was well orchestrated; and the penetration from the flanks was deep. We must be mindful that a lot of work goes into attacking football. To protect a lead in the second half requires the work of hard pressing and ball winning in the midfield. The one defender Mr Bakr is physically not able to play his normal role and should be left out for now.
More communication by the goal keeper is needed.

I would have pulled David back in Defence , removed Bakr and brought in Plaza.

I would like to congratulate my SocaWarriors on a magnificent performance in the opener. I am happy and proud. I am glad to see SPEED being used as a weapon. I saw attacking football. There was pressure on top; compactness and a funtional second defender.

Speed on the outside left ..phenominal..speed within the team excellent, composure.... fabulous...quality second to none.. The one player who looked out of sorts was Abu..because the man is fasting..I think the man is a liability at this moment in time.

The keeper is not fit..I don't like any player ..especially the keeper..not to be in top form .

All in all excellent performance ..fantastic result.

Go Warriors!
