The point guard at magic could've been either Kevin Ollie or Vernon Maxwell after Penny got injured.

I completely overlooked Ollie and Maxwell's time with the Magic... probably b/c they didn't play much.  Ah figure out who the PG was though... Scott Skiles (current Milwaukee coach).

Skiles actually have the NBA record for most assists in a single game (30). They sent him to Washington at the end of Penny's rookie season. One offseason later they signed H. Grant as a free agent and went to the final.  Then they lost to the Bulls in the playoffs in the first full season MJ was back and Shaq was off to LA.

I was also big fan of Nick Anderson. Still can't believe he miss all 4 of those free throws.

Darrell Armstrong was Penny's backup for a while and then actually became the team leader once Penny got injured and later went to Phoenix.

Stephen "lighter" Lewis who playing now could hold his own with any of the legends.

Back when NGC had the Community Basketball League in the 90s, a fella calling himself Alligator Man used to dominate the highlights. I eh know how good his all-round game was but the man coulda dunk.

Yuh doh think man like Ben Gordon and Luol Deng offers better support than what Stoudemire have in NY?

no.  and def not to the tune of 9 extra wins at this stage of the season.  At their current win percentages Chicago would win 13 games more over the course of a full season than the Knicks (56 vs 43 rounding down for the bulls and up for the knicks). That's a huge difference.

Chicago have Deng and one of their big men most games but they also have men like Keith Bogans, Kurt Thomas, Kyle Korver, and Taj Gibson getting plenty minutes.  Ben Gordon is with Detroit now.

We have Felton, Gallinari, Chandler and Fields.  And Turiaf would take all Gibson minutes if he went to the Bull.s

Plus, is only a handful of games Rose play where neither Boozer or Noah was available... most of the games he had at least one.

my point was that for most of the games he had only one of them.

I am a Knicks fan but if the criterion is the most important to your team then I have to say Derrick Rose. Considering that Noah miss 25 games and Boozer miss 18 games then I don't really think Chicago have a better supporting cast than NY. Definitely not 9 wins better at this stage in the season.

that being said it looks like the two teams heading for a 1st round meeting and I think we are a tough matchup for them. Beat them twice already this season IIRC though admittedly they wasn't at full strength in either game.

I don't know why Orlando was in such a rush to make that 2nd trade.

9 wins in a row for the Magic now.

still de way dem athletes handle de partyin and dey job does be amazing

dat lifestyle eh hard to maintain once they don't stop doing it.  Is the men who try to clean up their act temporarily who does cyar make.  If somebody like AC Green had even go so far as to give dem men a drop to the club he woulda have trouble making that shootaround.

I don't know why Orlando was in such a rush to make that 2nd trade.

After they make the finals they effectively trade Hedo for Vince.  Now they get back Hedo and a Vince-like player (Richardson) that most people would take over Vince.  If they insist on moving Rashard quickly I would have thought the emphasis would be on replacing Gortat rather than on getting yet another scorer who going to get 3 rebounds a game.

I think Orlando problem is they had their biggest success by accident (Jameer Nelson got injured, Turkoglu had more ball-handling responsibilities and they became a real bad matchup for the Cavs) and they don't know how to reproduce it.

Orlando trade Vince and get JRich and Hedo.  Lewis for Arenas supposedly close to completion.

Wasn't the Knicks up by 4 with under a minute left??? To tell you the truth I drop alseep on de couch mid-way through the 4th yes and coulda swear I saw Knicks were up by 4 with under a minute. Unless i was dreaming like mavado ;D

I don't think it was quite that late in the game. Because Celtics were also up 3 in the last minute before Gallinari 3 pt play tied it up.

edit: Ray Allen's 3 to put the Cs up by 3 was with 1:02 left.  just re-watch the highlights on nba.com.

yeah, Knicks looking good.  Admittedly, Denver was the first good we beat admittedly.  Anyhow, beating teams we supposed to beat is a step in the right direction.

Yeah. Boston will be the acid test

We have our best player since Patrick Ewing. The supporting cast is playing well also. Good to see some joy back in the garden after a lousy decade. A playoff appearance will be fine imh.

game just start so we go see.

Amar'e is a real unconventional player.  he's a big man who don't really like to play with his back to the basket.

There are plenty examples of PNM policing itself...you just chose not to remember or are ignorant of the facts.

As a general statement:

I voted for the PP and I have been disappointed.  That is something completely different from saying that I think I made the wrong decision.

To answer your statement:

I made a claim that the current administration has been noticeably superior to the last.  I was explicitly asked for clarification.

I used an example of a situation that I thought was egregious that I don't think has been paralleled as yet by the current administration.  If there has been a negative situation thus far in this administration that is without parallel in the previous administration then there's a flaw in my argument.

As a baseline scenario, one would expect most governments to go about most things properly.  If there's a situation in which the PNM acted responsibly you can't just conjecture a counterfactual scenario for the PP and bring it into a comparison of actual performance.  If there is something concrete where the PP have stumbled in a manner that the PNM didn't then I am in error as that puts us in the situation described in the previous paragraph.

edit: I realise that you were addressing a specific aspect of the argument that I made but, seeing that I probably won't reply in here further, I'll add this here as an attempt to give a slightly more comprehensive reply to the original request for clarification by elan.

Of the big ticket issues/items/policies/ideas of the last govt the two that I particularly liked were GATE and the rapid rail.  GATE was an enhancement of dollar for dollar which itself was a great idea in its time.  Maybe, as someone else on this forum has suggested, the rapid rail as proposed was too extravagant but I think it was a good idea.  In any case it doesn't seem like any govt is going to get it done soon.

As far as the more mundane operations of the government I can't say that I've found much to distinguish one administration from the other thus far.

105
Has he been charged with any crime as yet?

that is the problem right there.  or maybe the govt of the time wasn't irresponsible at all in not pursuing that.

check the new Ish thread and see how better they are. Ramlogan playing all kinda games. You giving props to a team who creating they faults and then cleaning it up. That's like a police committing crimes and then going out and solving it quick quick saying they doing work. SMDH

like I said: I rate that category as a tie.

it's just my opinion in any case.

"It looks more like a calculated error," the source said.

anyone with knowledge of the legalities say how this affects the probability of them being in the States by, say, next week?

Once extradition is granted arrangements are made behind the scene, marshalls are sent on board a US flight to pick up the suspects and they are transported.  Anand and dem chose to announce it via email on a Sunday afternoon knowing full well that no administrative proceedings will take place until the following day.  Of course the following day just so happened to be a US Government holiday... so they end up getting a two-day stay.  That two-day stay buys enough time for them to appeal yet again.  They cannot be extradited pending the appeal.  Hence it won't be until at least a week before they start packing dey grip.

and in this case they are appealing against the specific act of the papers being signed?

I guess what I'm asking is: is this appeal that they had been saving?  or something that only becomes available with a calculated mistake like this?

well, hopefully it won't matter by this time next week or so.

yuh putting the cart before the horse.  the objective people voted for "this bunch" because they were the better alternative.  And their performance thus far has been noticeably superior to the last bunch btw.

Care to clarify?

well that's the way I feel overall.  off the top of my head I could give my opinion on a few major developments as examples.

let's take the topic of the current thread for one example:  media vigilance leads to early detection of an act of corruption.  The Prime Minister acts promptly to reprimand the official involved and reverses the effect of the corrupt action.  Contrast that to the response of the last PM to overwhelming evidence of corruption.

another example of PP mistake: the laptops.  The laptops are a bad idea.  Bad value for money.  Terrible value for money if you will.  But you know what?  they campaigned on that and the population knew it was part of the platform.  They won the election and went ahead with it.  They said it was going to cost $83 million and it cost $83 million.  To channel Randy Moss, I could ask the question "What's $83 million to Patrick Manning?"

I don't see any good reason that the AG had to wait so long to send Ish and Steve to the States but I don't see how the last administration let Calder Hart go to the States.  So that's a tie.

Management of the crime situation is also a tie thus far.

Long overdue local government election held.  I score that as a point for the PP.

Giving TTFF a blank cheque is rubbish.  I'll put that one as a win in the PNM column.

again, that's just off the top of my head and ultimately just my opinion.  since you asked.

General Discussion / Re: OCTOBER
« on: October 08, 2010, 12:46:08 PM »

An interesting fact about October 2010:

This OCT. has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays, all in 1 month. It
happens once in 823 years.  These are considered money bags months. Pass
them to 8 good people and money will appear. Based on Chinese fengshui.
Whoever stops this will experience none

823 years???
Check your 2004 calendar

yeah, it seems that it should happen on average once a year though not necessarily October.  Any month with 31 days starting on a Friday should work.

well, it is in line with the strategy they've had all along.  I think the argument is that some of the revenue made from 2006 was always supposed to be used to for future campaigns and should therefore be taken off the table before the profit is calculated.   Remember the fight is essentially over how much profit there is to split up.

I remember at least one version of the TTFF figures had monies allocated to the 2010 (and possibly also the 2014 IIRC) campaign as a cost.  This was early on in the wranglings.  I thought/think it was a ridiculous tactic, mostly because the dollar values just seemed to be made up after the fact to make the numbers work out.  But it's a consistently held position over what must be a few years now.

Regardless as to what future purpose they've earmarked the money for... this money would still be coming from the profits.  They agreed to split the profits, not what's ever left over after paying bills. So even if they say well we budgeted XYand Z for overheads, salaries and maintenance and upkeep of the physical plant, that allocation is still coming from profits made and can only be made after the debt is settled.  If the deal says you have to split the profits then whatever you have/need to do with your share is not really my concern.

I agree with everything you say here.  Just pointing out that this is in keeping with their strategy all along.
I think that even in the original offer where the claimed profit was $282,203 ( $18,255,952 in revenue and $17,973,749 in expenses) they had counted future campaigns in the expenses.

I might try to look for the threads with the breakdowns of the various numbers the TTFF has provided over time.

117
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Daryn, yuh make the TTFF sound like an organisation capable of planning be it short, medium or long term!!...good one boy.  Yuh make mih day!!....

if it wasn't for Jack we would have had Patos for Prime Minister until the day Panday dead.  So we know he have some strategery about him.

well pre-season start.

D Wade had some kinda injury in the Heat first game and the Knicks' Amar'e era got started with a game against the T-wolves in Paris.  Nothing major to report.

Last night, the Lakers lost to Barca in an exhibition.

Just for Capo we could start the thread with a picture of 5-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant.

Before reading anyone message here, my take on this.... (see below)

I don't think those number are accurate what they pay Latapy and company, they are trying to justify the money they made in the 2006 WC is going back into the team so they can win the blacklisted players court.

I guess if they can prove the money is being spent on T&T football instead of someone's pocket then they stand a better chance to pay the blacklisted players less when the court matter resumes.

This is politics at its best if you asked me. Never before have the TTFF open personal info such as this to the public.

I smell a rotten fish....  8)

Just my 2-cents.

I can't say that this isn't what they trying to do... but if that's the case then they really wasting dey time.  Spending money today doesn't erase a prior debt owed.  Dai'z like saying "I cyah pay WASA de arrears ah owe dem, because ah paying T&TEC fuh light."

So the goverment paying the TTFF bills. Who getting the profits from games?

well according to the statements they does hardly ever make profits from the games.

For example, check this old thread with the figures the for the game against Guatemala in the 2005 Hex when the stadium was full.

They did report a profit slightly less than the current coach's monthly salary for the Mexico game shortly thereafter.
