Surinam just capped a whole lot of Dutch born players on their team.

Everybody doing it. Look at lil Monserrat and Curacao sides.

Players with island roots always hoping to play for England or Holland or wherever. If it doh happen then they go check the islands. The latest big one so is Ivan Toney from Brentford. Jamaica want him but he hoping for England.

Update for the US-based - Bundesliga moving to ESPN / ESPN+. I have it since they get the Serie A rights. Worth the $5 US a month. Watching UEFA Nations League now.

Cardiff in the news. Malky was a racist.

http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/2014/08/20/malky-mackay-and-iain-moody-investigated-by-fa-for-sexist-racist-and-homophobic-text-messages-while-at-cardiff-city/

According to the Daily Mail, Mackay and Moody were under investigation for eight controversial transfers – totaling around $75 million – made by the duo while at Cardiff in 2013. As part of that investigation, Cardiff hired Mishcon de Reya to perform an investigation into the transfers, which revealed that $4.5 million was withheld in payments due to agents.

The investigation also turned up 70,000 text messages and 100,000 emails in connection to alleged wrongdoing related to transfers. Mackay and Moody were told that Cardiff were in possession of these messages, which have since been passed along to the FA as per rules requiring clubs to report any matters that may constitute ‘aggravated misconduct’.

Below are bullet-points of the alleged remarks, which contain sexist, racist and homophobic language:

In July 2012, Cardiff signed South Korean international Kim Bo-kyung, but when Moody informed Mackay on July 12 that ‘five of the b******s including the player’ were arriving for talks, the reply from Mackay’s phone was: ‘Fkn chinkys.’ A further message says: ‘Fk it. There’s enough dogs in Cardiff for us all to go around.’

In reference to the prominent football agent, Phil Smith, a text states: ‘Go on, fat Phil. Nothing like a Jew that sees money slipping through his fingers’. The Israeli club, Maccabi Tel Aviv, are also referred to simply as ‘the Jews’.

A football official at another club is referred to as ‘a gay snake’ and ‘the homo’ and someone who is ‘not to be trusted’, while a French player is someone ‘who struck me as an independently minded young homo’.

An exchange with a young player who has a female agent makes reference to a sex act and states: ‘I hope she’s looking after your needs,’ the player is then told. ‘I bet you’d love a bounce on her falsies.’

On August 16, 2012, a list of players proposed by a French agent is forwarded, stating to Mackay that ‘he needs to rename his agency the All Blacks’. A separate text in reference to a list of French players states: ‘Not many white faces amongst that lot but worth considering.’

In a separate exchange a picture entitled ‘Black Monopoly’ is sent, with every square a ‘Go To Jail’ square. Of one African player, it is stated: ‘Doesn’t look like a good cv. And he’s Nigerian.’

"My uncle is from Trinidad, so, ever since I was 7, I grew up listening to Soca, the genre that's from there. It's my favorite sound. So, we put a band together and we would play Soca … and then I would go up and play my little pop songs (laughs). It was fun!"

http://www.idolator.com/7530699/meghan-trainor-all-about-that-bass-interview

So, I have a lot of different genres, and then my uncle is Trinidadian. He came into our family when I was seven. From seven years old, I’ve been studying soca and calypso and reggae. So with that, with the disco, with the old-school, with the pop — I think that’s what you got right now.

Goals By Caribbean's Caesar, Picault, and Laing Highlight International Performances in NASL Week 6 Action

NEW YORK (August 18, 2014) - The international stars continue to shine in the North American Soccer League (NASL) as Caribbean players Trevin Caesar (Trinidad & Tobago), Fafà Picault (Haiti), and Lance Laing (Jamaica) all scored key goals for their respective teams in Week 6 NASL Fall Season action.

Within two minutes of coming into the game as a substitute, Trinidad & Tobago international Caesar scored for the visiting San Antonio Scorpions in their 1-1 draw against Ottawa Fury FC at TD Place on Sunday. The result kept the Scorpions even on points with Minnesota United FC atop the NASL Fall Season Table, and put them just three points away from first place in the NASL Combined Table.

On Saturday, Week 6 action kicked off with Jamaican international Laing notching FC Edmonton's first tally, which sparked a 3-2 comeback victory over the Carolina RailHawks at WakeMed Soccer Park. English midfielder Ritchie Jones also scored for the Eddies, who snapped a five-game road skid with the win.

Picault, who has been called up by the Haitian National Team for a friendly next month, scored the equalizer for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in a 1-1 draw against the Atlanta Silverbacks at Lockhart Stadium. Uruguayan midfielder Martin Núñez played provider on the goal, setting up Picault in front of the net.

Rounding out the standout performances from Saturday's Week 6 encounters was Brazilian midfielder Daniel Mendes, whose goal helped extend Minnesota United FC's 10-game unbeaten streak in a 5-1 win over visiting Indy Eleven at NSC Stadium. Former Brazilian WorldCup winner Kléberson had the only tally for Indy in the loss. Meanwhile, defender Tamika Mkandawire, a native of Malawi, scored the eventual game-winner for the Tampa Bay Rowdies in their victory over the visiting New York Cosmos. Bulgarian forward Stefan Dimitrov found the net for the Cosmos in their first loss to the Rowdies since 1984.

Every week throughout the 2014 Season, the NASL puts its international stars - both coaches & players - under the 'NASL International Spotlight,' which focuses on the league's overseas connections.
