Soccer league keeps ban on turbans
The Quebec Soccer Federation announced Sunday it has decided to keep a ban against players wearing turbans on the field. The federation began cracking down on turbans — the religious headgear worn by Sikhs — in the past few years. Referees who don’t apply the rule could face penalties of their own. In April the Canadian Soccer Association asked provincial associations to allow turbans on the field. The Quebec federation said that its decision is in line with the position of the international soccer organization FIFA, which has yet to take a clear stand on the issue. The federation said it would lift the ban immediately if FIFA does. Members of the Sikh community, however, say FIFA’s position is beside the point. Balpreet Singh, a spokesman for the World Sikh Organization of Canada, said FIFA is responsible for major international tournaments, while the Quebec Soccer Federation oversees recreational leagues.

PARENTS BRAWL AT SOCCER GAME - (Barrie is a small town 60 minutes north of Toronto).
I think we have a forumite or two living in Kitchener Ontario, 60 minutes west of Toronto
Up to 30 parents got into a fight during a youth soccer game in Barrie Saturday afternoon. Barrie Police were called to a local park when an argument escalated between parents of a Barrie soccer team and a Kitchener team. A parent from one team allegedly uttered racial slurs towards a parent on the other team. Barrie Police Sgt. rob Gravel said parents were mostly yelling at one another and that they were “visibly upset” when police arrived on scene. he said there was one allegation of a possible assault but the parent didn’t want to pursue criminal
Plan?In addition to branding the former Sports Minister said they have been in discussion to bring some top international teams such as Manchester United and Barcelona to play two matches a year, one in Trinidad and one in Tobago.
He said once they get the necessary finances this would become a reality, which will no doubt draw hundreds of thousands of people to the twin island.
Barca and Man U play 60+ competitive games a season in Europe and a half dozen friendlies each in their primary overseas fan markets. So where are these hundreds of thousands of people gonna travel from to see a fete match?
(Ignoring the fact that we have no stadium holding more than 25k)
Meanwhile, Barbados links up with Chelsea and is emblazoned all over Stamford Bridge at every home game, they even have women in carnival costumes there every now and again. Pretty sure their plan is working better than ours ever will.
As much we like to call them "1st World" its important to not that Spain has an unemployment rate of above 20 %,a contracting economy and a growing immigration problem. These kind of acts bound to occur. Thankfully they didn't hurt him.
maybe is just me, but why should we youth have to contend wid dem Guyanese youth for a spot on ah pro team, why they can't have they own trials, and if due to logistics they can't, then tough luck!!!!
UNLESS!!! they using Trinidad as a centralize location to have these trials, if so, well i'll live wid de lil egg on meh face:)
Hello. I made Trinidad and Tobago in the creation center. Heres the link: http://www.ea.com/uk/football/fifa/creation-centre?team_id=39528112 Tell me what you think and if I should change anything.
T&T put three pass St Lucia.
Inshan Mohammed.
Trinidad and Tobago’ meanwhile, have slipped a whopping 21 places in the latest official FIFA world ranking. The ‘Soca Warriors’ is now 97th in the world after being 76th during the last ranking in August.
We are competing with Faroe Islands, Iceland, India & Equitorial Guinea for being the biggest fallers in the World Fifa rankings and some folks feel we should be celebarting beating St Lucia 3-0?!
I hope Latas wake-up & smell the coffee or as Jack said "Change is coming!"
Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, centre and Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Anil Roberts give the Soca Princesses’ a pep talk in the team’s dressing room ahead of Sunday’s Group A match against defending champions, Korea DPR in the Fifa Under-17 Women’s World Cup Group at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva. Korea DPR won 1-0 to secure a quarterfinal spot.
