Football / QRC Faithful
« on: October 09, 2007, 07:13:15 AM »
Fellas...I know we strive to beat CIC in every way possible, but it looking like we heading to be faster at them in getting relegated. Like we say, ''they do it first, but we will show them how it is really done!""

Local based...what the ass going on with the side? They really that shitty to be below Deigo Sec and losing to Trinity at home?

All the parents and family of the First XI players on the board, please let your sons know that at QRC we have graduated the most eloquent shit talkers to ever grace the land of Trinidad and if they are part of the team that get QRC relegated for the first time in history, that is over a 100 years of alumni who going to be ponging them til they dead...and beyond that.

They never going to be able to show their face in any sphere of life cause it have QRC men all over the world, at all levels in life and they going to recognise these men and they going to get pong for the rest of their lives ! Trust me...

On their tombstone will be written...here lies so and so...a member of the worst team to ever pass thru QRC. We not going to let them live it down and we not going to have no thread posting Championship division results and celebrating and condoning mediocrity.

I guess that is why they doing so bad, cause everythign we do must be done in style, including getting relegated!

But seriously...we not condoning it. Motivate your friends and family who in and around the squad. QRC football have more history even that West Indies Cricket. They playing for more than themselves...they need to be serious and at least play their hearts out.

And if all else fails, all man jack on that sider better be prepared to win some scholarships cause that is the only reason we taking as to why somebody considered as one the best 22 footballers out of a school of 800 plus students, wherein at least 500 is sweat , and you getting embarassed so on the field.

These fellas hadda recognise how strong the QRC old boy network is. These fellas looking to get turn away from interviews if a fellow alumni recognise them as part of the team that get d college relegated.

Gimme a Q !! ...

Football / Stern sticking !!
« on: September 21, 2007, 10:03:23 AM »
Southampton now sign 33 year old, slow ass Christian Dailly on loan. What happen to Stern? He supposed to be chaining up the manager to sign Sancho all now, especially when he know the team need defensive reinforcements !

I wonder if Kenwyne have rank down there still or they hate him after the week long strike. Steups...these men doh know how to link a brethren when u on the inside. Stern have to use the line ''buying another trini will bring the best out in me''.

Football / Birchall...one year later
« on: June 11, 2007, 05:23:51 PM »
The man probly real depressed now. One year ago he was the hottest thing in Portvale after breaking through from the youth team and then from that he suddenly end up starting on a World Cup team...

Now, he lost in the reserve leagues for a team that does not seem to be progressing and he caught up in an International bachanaal that he probly never dreamed of happenign before committing himself to the team. At least us locally KNOW the kinda ass Jack is, but Birchall probly only see the nice fella wooing him to join the cause and ''making all this possible'' regarding the WCQ. This is probly a real shock to a youth like him (he is 22 or 23 now?) and he probly wonder where the ass his life went wrong after it was looking so good...

Football / Malick National Team vs ''Others'' National Team
« on: January 19, 2007, 06:26:12 AM »
i realise the amount of Malick men on the team and I start to wonder if the team could play a Malick XI vs an ''others'' XI in training...and who would win!

Malick XI (I missing 2 spots that somebody on the board could fill in, i sure)

------------------------------------ ?????-------------------------------

?????----------------------Lawrence------------Sancho---------------Rojas

Tinto--------------Theobald-----------------Hardest--------------Aurtis--------

------------------------Glasgow-----------------Scotland------------------------

 VERSUS

----------------------Stern-----------------------Kenwyne--------------------

Tiger-------------------Birchall--------------------Dwight-----------------Carlos

Avery---------------Telesford--------------------Atiba-------------------Cyd--------

If we give one team Shaka or Ince(whichever one still playing) and one team Kelvin Jack, it should be a decent game unless Carlos kill them on the wing or Cornell come off the bench.

What allyuh think?

Oh yeah...and Dwarika and Irasto Knights could a get a corbeaux for the malick team later on

Football / Stern to put the nail in Steve Bruce coffin
« on: October 19, 2006, 06:57:19 AM »
BBC Sport- Thursday's football gossip

Birmingham's results in their next three games against Derby, West Brom and Coventry will decide Bruce's future. (Star)

Stern bound to score in that game, just to show the manager who take him and (almost) ruin him by trying to make him a big, strong, immobile, traditional british centre forward... what he was missing in the Premier League if he had just let him play his game.

38
Football / Who Barca need more?
« on: September 29, 2006, 10:10:43 AM »
Watching Drogba excel alongside Shevchenko after 2 poor years at Chelsea, and Stern's failings as an immobile target man, it reinforces to me how hard it is to play as the lone striker, yet Eto'o has kept scoring regardless. Thus, even though people have ''reputation'' it does not mean that Barca can just put anotherstriker in there and expect their system to work the same way and the goals to keep pouring in.

With the skill of Messi there, prompting Ronaldinho himself to say after he won the European footballer of the year that ''I am not even the best player at my club!", I was wondering who on the board think is the person Barca will miss more on the field.

39
I surpised nobody pick up on this internationally yet. After all the pre-world cup hype about the rivalry between the two returning to Germany in the final, nobody mention that Italy wears Puma and France wears Addidas and they meeting in the final.

I feel I backing Puma as they are the underdog...and they have Pele advertising for them now, since they see Addidas pull out Platini and Beckenbaur in their +10 ads.
Talk about tryign to make a comeback!

I hope they persist with him...if he have a slight strain Samuel and/or Wise will ensure it become a tear when they give him horrors on the flank !
Hargreaves or Carragher in line to replace him...sounds good to me !

Football / Some questions for Beenie
« on: June 01, 2006, 06:33:17 AM »
I figure the man too high for we, yes, cause when he say he trying some things in the practice match, i give him the full benefit of the doubt but I really can't fathom what he was trying against Slovenia.

Anyways, questions:

1) Why persist with Cyd Gray in the centre?

His only asset(?) is his speed and aggression down the flanks, not the compusure we need in the middle. He has been involved in 90% of the goals we have conceded this year.

2) Why can't we try ONE game without Stern John?

It might be such a revelation to see Scotty or Kenwyne play the lone striker...their higher workrate might reveal wonders. Too late for that now cause the big players must play against the Czechs

3) What is the deal with Theobald?

His only possible spot is as a replacement for Birchall cause we have at least 3 better men on the left (counting Latas and Glen, apart from Sammy and Wise) and Aurtis is our best midfielder now cause he doing it defensively and going forward.

4) Why Yorke and Birchall playing every minute of every game?

Birchall looking off the boil for a while now, the man looking jaded..he young, evrybody know young players can't keep their consistency non-stop throughout a season. Rooney and Ronaldo had to get rested to make sure they were ready for ManU end of season run-in.

And Yorke started making some bad passes near the end of the Slovenia game...a clear indication of tiredness.

5) Why he does not use his subs?

We have about 5 subs for friendlies and he refuse to give men a run...Cornell shoulda get a 10 minutes by now, Ian Cox and Sancho should be sweating if Andrews in trouble;Lawrence not irreplaceable and those 2 have an understanding at club level, Latas deserve at least 20 minutes a game, especially when we losing, one keeper doh have to keep whole game.

6) And the eternal mystery...what is the point of Anthony Wolfe ?????

43
Football / Anthony Wolfe: The Secret Weapon?
« on: May 31, 2006, 08:52:11 AM »
I really cah figure out this one at all. Why Wolfe on the side and the man cah make the bench for the friendlies, eh play in the hex and he is backup for Yorke and Latas positiion, the attacking midfield spot...two men who irreplaceable on the side.

A brethren of mine convinced that Wolfe is the secret weapon. Beenie hididn him from the media so when he come on the rest of the teams have no idea what to expect i.e. Is he big and strong like Kenwyne, Speedy like Glen, skilful like Wise, a bulllet like Scotland, both feet, one foot? what to expect from him..??

It sounds plausible and woukd be a nice idea,..but i eh know if Beenie that crafty. But seriously...what is the man real purpose? And how could he not even get a sweat with the side in any games if he supposed to be meshing with them????

44
I just read that Sven say if Rooney doesn't make it, they could use Gerrard as a second striker, behind Owen. He also made this comment about Joe Cole sometime ago as well.

Consequently, how do you think we match up if England play a 5 man midfield?

With Gerrard moving up, it makes room for a defensive midfielder to play, like Carrick or possible Sven could move Becks inside and start with Jenas, Lennon or Downing on the wing.

I think this makes them more dangerous, against us, because the lack of a defensive midfield right now gives us a chance because it dampens Lampard's and Gerrard's offensive prowess. Right now, we are playing with a 5 man midfield, counting Yorke as an attakcing midfield behind Stern.

Have we played against another 5 man midfield yet under Beenie's reign?

If this happens, Samuel becomes very important as he needs to keep whoever's attacking on the right for england, on their defensive as in the middle we may be outmatched now. Edwards should have his way on the right, regardless of who there.

Football / Rahim sweating yet?
« on: April 18, 2006, 07:52:51 AM »
I forget who he came back to play with, if is Joe Public or Jabloteh..but both of them sides seem to have a midfield pack with big names already. Is Rahim sweating in the PFL? If not. is he making the bench or he just training?

I glad to see Spann coming back with W. Connection too. With Spann, Rahim, Hardest all plying their trade locally (or at least trying to) we can see how good Whitley is in comparison to them, since them is the main men he would have been competing with to be the best midfielder in the country (not counting Latas as that would be like comparing Bob Marley to the present Reggae singers).

Hopefully even Theobald could get loaned to Caledonia or somebody to get some playing time before the World Cup and we could see men going head to head. If Jemmot and Rahim get back to something like their best before their careers went downhill, we could have some high class games in the PFL this year.

West Ham will meet the winner of Charlton vs Boro, so hopefully Shaka gets a chance to appear in an FA Cup final before he retires...too bad is not at famed Wembley though

That guy is such crap, he ruin Yorke career he mash up Newcastle after all the work Bobby Robson did and he always trying to play badman against the club players, no wonder they could never perform under him. Just look at where Blackburn is now that he gone? And look at where Newcastle reach since he come ! He almost force me to change my pic at the side there, but I not no waggonist. I sticking by my side even when they playing shite and ppl jumping on the ManBoo and Chelski train cause they winning.

They shoulda fire him since last year when he sell Bellamy and Bowyer and Dyer fight with each other on the field under his regime...

Meanwhile yorkie going to the World Cup while he go and joing the unemployment line...effing wanker, hopes he never gets another job.

With 'big' players like Gerrard, Lampar and Rooney..arguably among the top 10 in the world, wearing the #8 at their clubs...I was wondering which player, in our expert opinion, was the best to wear the #8 regularly.
I know a discussion like this for #9, 10 or #7 would probably never end...but i think #8 might not be as hard. I can't even remember many great players wearing it...?!?

Football / Lincoln Phillips: D Real MVP
« on: December 02, 2005, 08:43:33 AM »
I think this is the man who played the most pivotal role in getting us to the World Cup, moreso than Jack and Beenie. If you read every single media release by this man, his intelligence and vision for Trinidad football is clear and you can see the roadmap to future glory. He was the one who borught to Jack the idea of adopting the dutch philosophy leading to beenie being appointed. He is the one who has brought a clear structure to Jack's mad spending spree..if anybody gets a national award out of this...I vote for Lincoln 'Tiger' Phillips more than the other two. Is how many years Jack trying to get us to the World Cup? You think is coincidence he only succeed now? Lincoln is the brains behind this whole operation...

Football / Who cry when we qualify? And doh lie eh !
« on: November 18, 2005, 01:11:19 PM »
I eh go lie...it take a while for it to sink in for me. It hit me about 7:30 during news...all of a sudden i really realise the magnitude there. I mean...when a team qualify, how often do they go backward? Jamaica run out of money but through the ranks they better. Japan is a respected opponent now. Saudi Arabia and Korea are regulars...only African teams not regular but tha's because they have so many teams around the same level and so much strife and corruption at the top levels.

If we have 10 men on yellow cards...we have enough of a bench if 5 of them get another one in the game Saturday(God forbid)? Or will Beenie call in other options? 22 players in the camp, minus 5 is stil 17 but that including 2 keepers...so we have 3 outfield subs?

Head-2-Head: Flashy T&T face stubborn Bahrain
FIFAworldcup.com

Saturday 12 November 2005, 23:30 (CET)
Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain (capacity 24,000)
Trinidad and Tobago v Bahrain
CONCACAF/AFC play-off, first leg – 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™

The first leg of the qualifying play-off between Trinidad and Tobago and Bahrain in Port of Spain will be the first competitive meeting between the two sides and is bound to be a clash of divergent styles. Despite the tactical organisation and defensive assurance introduced after the legendary Leo Beenhakker took over the coaching duties back in April, the Soca Warriors of T&T are still best known for their sultry individual rhythms and attacking flair.

"Their (Bahrain's) style of play makes them a very tricky opponent," Beenhakker recently remarked in  an exclusive interview with FIFAworldcup.com. "They have a ferocious defence and are not over-eager about getting forward. They will sit back and wait for the right time to hit on the counterattack. But regardless, we will play to win in both legs (and) play to our strengths."

Bahrain's patient counterattacking system has served them well so far and helped them seal the crucial fifth spot in Asian qualifying. Long considered lovable underdogs, Bahrain fired a warning to the continent in 2005 when they reached the AFC Asian Cup semi-final and their Belgian coach Luka Peruzovic is keen to keep the momentum going.

Looking ahead to the play-offs, he told FIFAworldcup.com: "I've watched some video tapes and to be honest, they (T&T) are a good team." . "They have some highly skilful players and their European-based stars are very experienced. But I believe we have a chance as long as we play to our strengths.

Hubail back in attack
The return of Bahrain's star striker, Alaa Hubail , whom Beenhakker has flatteringly labelled "extremely dangerous", is bound to have Peruzovic smiling. In a team known for their staunch rearguard, sturdy midfield, and never-say-die attitude, the diminutive Hubail adds a much-needed spark and panache in front of goal.

Joint top scorer at last year's Asian Cup, Hubail is Bahrain's top marksman in the Germany 2006 qualifying campaign despite having missed no fewer than six matches through injury. His brief appearances in the last round against Uzbekistan were a good omen for the Gulf team and his brace for Qatari club Al Gharafa at the weekend will have all in Bahrain hoping he is truly back to his old goalscoring self.

Peruzovic also gave indication of his seriousness by leaving out Hubail's fellow striker Naser Duaij, allegedly for putting on too much weight since the play-off against Uzbekistan last month. "This is a decisive moment in the history of this nation and I have no intent of gambling," he said. "Only the players who were fully fit and ready to go were selected." Also out for Bahrain is defender Mohammed Husain, who recently picked up a muscle strain on club duty.

T&T put faith in old guard
Nearly 16 years ago to the day, at the very same Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, T&T came desperately close to reaching their first finals but missed out cruelly on Italy 1990 after a slim loss to the USA. Current squad members Dwight Yorke and Russell Latapy were both youngsters in that squad and will be desperate to avoid a similar fate this time around – their closest flirtation with qualification since 1989.

Yorke – a former European Cup winner with Manchester United who currently plays his football in Australia – is a pivotal member of the squad. And it was his fateful phone call to friend and former team-mate Latapy late in the qualifying campaign that helped turn the team's fortunes. Well into his international retirement and player-coach at Falkirk in Scotland, Latapy – one of the smoothest central midfielders ever to come out of the Caribbean – simply could not refuse. And since his return, the 37-year-old has proven the spark that was so obviously missing in the earlier matches.

With his orchestrations in midfield, Yorke and top scorer Stern John have been free to find holes and torment defences, culminating in a thrilling 2-1 come-from-behind win over Mexico in which John missed a penalty yet still scored two goals in a magnificent performance.
Read FIFAworldcup.com's exclusive interview with Stern John

The meeting in Port of Spain holds one definite worry for the hosts in that they have ten players on yellow cards, meaning another booking in the first leg will put them out of the return game in Manama. Among this number are potential match-turners Yorke and Kenwyne Jones and steely centre-back Marvin Andrews – tipped by Beenhakker to keep a cap on Hubail. Peruzovic, for his part, is worrying about the travel toll on the Bahrain players. Not accustomed to such globetrotting, his team will have to make the bruising trip twice, racking up double the air miles of their opponents.

For both countries, the prize could not be greater - the immortal glory of a debut appearance in a FIFA World Cup finals - and both teams gathered in Trinidad for a week's training camp ahead of the first leg. "We are seven days and 180 minutes away from glory," Beenhakker reminded his Soca Warriors at the first team meeting. The same too can be said for Peruzovic and his Asian hopefuls.

Football / To D Tacticians - What formation we really use in that game?
« on: September 05, 2005, 08:50:57 AM »
It looked to me like Beenie started off with a 4-3-3, a la Chelsea with Latas cutting in from the left and Carlos on the right with Stern down the middle. Yorke, Birchall and Whitley were all in the middle but none seemed to be in any one particular role as a defensive minded midfielder or offensive.
When Scotland came on, he played left, but not really midfield or wing, while Latapy drifted in more but Silvio Spann was playing an authentic right mid, having swapped with Carlos Edwards by then. But I would assume it was a 4-4-1-1 at that point with Latas, behind Stern. When Sealy came on...well by then we were hunting for a goal so we had 4 fowards on the fiield, not counting Yorke, but they all seemed to be going down the middle mostly...
Whatever, as long as it work in the end, oui !

But you think that line up at the start was effective or was it the introduction of Scotland rather than the change in tactics that resulted in a better performance and more ball possession in the second half?
And how you think Beenie will line up for the away game...4-5-1, with Yorke deeper than Latas again? or a 4-5-1 based on the 4-3-3 he used with Latas out wide?
