Football / Disgusting...
« on: September 04, 2005, 06:48:23 AM »
I's a man back Stern throughout coz the man was getting chances to score and throwing away, which was more than the other strikers was doing (although I still want Cornell up front coz i feel the stern yorke thing cah wuk)..but when the game done, man clapping Stern, chanting he name and he cuss the crowd. I understand how the man feeling but make no mistake about it...there is no way Stern can do that to the Coventry City fans when he start back scoring for them, no efffing waaay. I know I from a third world country, but I doh hadda accept this kinda disrespect from nobody. Beckham ever cuss the english fans when they were hanging effigys in front his house after the 98 World Cup? Nooo... Ronaldo cuss the brazilians when they were calling him 'Tubby'? Nooo...so who de hell is Stern John to do that? I mighta understand if it was a local based fella but this is an experienced professional who supposed to know better than that. True, we understand how he feeling, and we know he want to tell men "haul ur mudda so and so", but that's just not done and unacceptable, 2 winning goals or not. And he will get away with it and we will all hide our heads in the sand because we soft and we's a nothing country and Stern win the game for us.

A next thing, I in the stadium and people trying to pull down men waving the flag in the crowd because it blocking them?? The players on the field seeing the flag, they cah see u sitting there in the crowd and u trying to pull that down for your own selfish reasons? if u cah see...MOVE ! Do not disrespect my national flag by trying to pull it down! I did not spend years abroad not taking shit from anybody regarding my flag and my country to come home and have to deal with locals treating my flag like shit! And the thing is, men doh care about those things in this country. The amount of flag waving u will see in a real football game, people does have to be caling each other cell phone to ask what going in the game coz they cah see nuttin...but they still there supporting! Simoes came here and say that football is not a spectacle, we not paying to coming to watch the game, we paying to be part of the game. The crowd supposed to be the 12th man. If u want to sit and watch, spend your $100 on a movie or a play. And this whole flag thing was when the team down 2-1, as soon as they manage to run the flag man, Stern score to equalize and now they want him to come back and wave. Tha's how we are...support when we winning, pull down when we losing. Is through thick and thin it supposed to be. Is not like if somebody invade the country we could sit down and say, well, i's not trini so i doh care. U trini since u born and u going and be trini til u die, whether u have dual citizienship or not. So why show it only when we on top?

The sickening and disheartening thing is, tha's just how we are and plenty people here would not understand how these things could affect me so.I eh know, my patriotism on another level: to my country, of which the football team is just a representation. I doh know how many of u had the opportunity to go to a game in the US but it is sad that even a country like theirs has more support and passion in their stadiums for the national soccer team than we do for our national football team...and then the players will turn round and cuss even the diehards.

Football / Owen or Shearer: Who'll score more for the Toon Army?
« on: September 01, 2005, 07:11:00 AM »
Now that Owen is at Newcastle, who do you think will get more goals for them? Both guarantee around 20 goals a season (Shearer usually more but he's past his prime)

Owen's case: Bellamy was outscoring Shearer before his run-ins with Souness, so with Owen's pace and pedigree he should be able to do better than Bellamy.
Plus Shearer is undoubtedly past his best years while Owen is approaching his peak years as a player...

Shearer's case:  For the first time in his life, he's not the main striker so he will have more space as a result of defenders playing closer attention to Owen.
Plus, he takes the penalties and it's still his team and he's in his last year, meaning look for Owen to unselfishly give him tap -ins so he can finish on a high

Football / Chelsea is a one man side...
« on: August 12, 2005, 07:29:09 AM »
Makelele...the most vital player in the world, just ask Real.
The french coach didn't bring him out of retirement, it was Zidane who approached him after he decided that he(Zidane) was going to play again (or the voice or whatever tell him to).
Is no coincidence that Lampard and Terry are now considered the best in their positions in England, because Makelele allows Lampard less defensive work so he can make those indefatigable runs and play hard whole game, while protecting Terry like no other defensive midfielder can. Mourinho called him his MVP when others were voting between Terry and Lampard. he recognise this weakness as he bought somebody as he 'had no cover for Makelele cause Parker couldn't adjust'. But u can't replace him, he is simply the best ever in that position because he doesn't try to take on the added attacking burden like Viera and Keane, but plays to his limitations perfectly.

So they key to the EPL this season : if Makelele injured, Chelsea becomes much less invincible, and Peter Cech gets about 10 less clean sheets.

Every year in the EPL, there's always one team that nobody expects to really make a difference in the Champions league race who pushes hard for that last spot...who will it be this year?

Everton  - Will the Champions League distraction hinder league progress ?

Tottenham - One more year before they are ready to gain consistency  or is Davids the final cog ?

Aston Villa - Is O'Leary working his Leeds magic quietly? Especially if he manages to reunite Saviola with Angel...

Newcastle -  Souness destroying a good team or addiing winning steel to it?

Middleborough - Viduka, Hasselbank, Yakubu and they looking for a big name midfielder...are they ready for 5th now?

Bolton - Can the headmaster Borgetti steal the odd goal which will turn those draws against the big team into wins for Big Sam?

Man City - Robbie Fowler and Andy Cole...Indian Summer for 2 great guns of the past? Can wright- phillips sale be the equivalent for City what Rooney was to Everton?

The u-17 star who hot up in the world cup here along with his riding partner le Tallec. He supposedly on Liverpool books but whenever benitez talk bout his strikers he never mention him and i now see they let le tallec out on loan again...

Anybody know if they sell him or if theyjust ignoring him cause he didn't do bad last year whenever he got a chance but Benitez and his one striker policy just wouldn let the man get a run...

Football / Why Chelsea and Brazil win...

Interesting article that Beenie could possibly use...

Quote
While many believe that set-pieces are the decisive factor in a game, for Mourinho the key to winning lies in transitions - the moment when possession changes hands from one side to another.

Football / Australia to Asia..y not Mexico to S. America?
« on: June 15, 2005, 10:08:29 AM »
Fifa say that they see no problem with Australia joining the Asian federation for future qualifying since Asia and Oceania say they would welcome the move. So why Mexico get brace in the past when they try to join S. America for qualifying?

Football / Samuel and Sealy
« on: June 13, 2005, 10:28:54 AM »
Anybody knows what went on with them regarding the Gold Cup squad ? Beenhakker work with them at all or he just omit them without seeing them in training? Did scotland and samuel train with the team for the 3 days prior to the Panama game or since they weren't picked for the squad they weren't allowed to train either?

Football / Players who need to sweat in the Gold Cup
« on: June 09, 2005, 02:00:17 PM »
Andre Boucaud
Silvio Spann
Jason Scotland
Colin Samuel
Ricky Shakes
Scott Sealey
Jason Norville

All these men Beenie still eh get a real chance to work with and could make the team stronger, they could all possibly be starters... And I hope he persist with Rahim, he have the talent to be like Nahkid but he just going through a rough patch right now because he cah get swear nowhere...his confidence have to be shot to pieces. Plus, Cornell Glen eh get a good look in yet but we all know he not discarded. I would even give a call to evans Wise, maybe Beenie could find a way to get through to him and put his talent to use cause he have real skills...is just the mental abilty to use it at the right times he can't seem to grasp. And by September/October I could see some of Jabloteh youths making a breakthrough on this team..Fenwick doing a good job the way he cut Nigel Pierre and Ancil and them to make room for' new blood', same thing we will hadda do with the national team to keep them on the boil.

What about Track & Field / Brown, Burns and Steroids
« on: June 09, 2005, 10:01:18 AM »
I always remember a comment Ato made when Brown run 10.04..he say "that is good and he wish him all the best for the future but it's a big step from that to running under 10 consistently". Watching that pre-fontaine field and seeing men that Brown was beating at youth level all dipping under 10 and he eh do that yet...I convinced that 'step' is when they start to take all them drug cocktails. So doh look for Brown and Burns to start mashing up anytime soon because hopefully they not going down that road. The only fair field in a 100 was the year when Kim Collins win without going under- 10 !
