Sorry to burst the bubble and I know ppl like to be eternally optimistic but like a man say in another thread " get a good trini woman to latch onto beenie" cause only that will make him stay. Look at the man track record. He have a history of leaving jobs quickly so once he accomplish what he came here to do he will be gone, unfortunately. Right now his contract is only until October and doesn't include the Mexico game, I presume it wil be extended to include the World Cup as jack guages that we won't need the Mexico game in order to know if we make it or not.

Besides, most experienced managers recogise that the best time to resign is after big tournaments...because it's a thankless job, if he stays on it's only to risk being remembered for the wrng reasons as people will tend to 4get where he found the team and where he put them. Rather they will focus on the negative results that will inevtiably come once the passion and drive that put is through to the World Cup is gone and Yorke, Marvin Andrews, Shaka and possibly other senior players retire and we are in a  rebuilding process.

I've said before on this forum, T&T laws regarding citizenship are border-line prehistoric. If it was the US or England he would have been allowed to play

damm right bredrin does trinidad have an immigrant problems like the usa england etc llook how fast they  kerron clement, freddy etc get citizenship .Minster of national security say it will send a wrong message and all that crap them fools

My friend (and Jayerson as well)...Freddy Adu's mother won the lottery and got her citizenship and kerron Clemen't's mother had american citizenship. If either was the case for Seabra, he would play. I don't understand how you can say the laws regarding citizenship are pre-historic in our country compared to others. I in the states 6 years, i not eligible to play for the US(or even work here legally) because i have no family ties. same with seabra...so how their laws more davanced than others? Besides, the States and the UK are economically more developed and able to handle the influx of immigrants...Trinidad is not. Contrary to popular belief, we are still a third world country and for all the oil money we supposed to have a recent report state that more than half the country under the poverty level. Stop thinking like a fan coz this goes beyond the boundary.

Allyuh watching this scenario from a football perspective but u missing the bigger issue here. Why must we change our constitution for a decent (not great) brazilian ? iSeabra has no claim to citizenship whereas Birchall has a  trinidadian parent. Even in Seabra's case if the laws were changed to accept grandparents it won't help him. If we allow Seabra citizenship just to play after being here 5 years, how can we then deny every grenadian, vincentian, venezuelan and guyanese who in the country already citizenship just to ply their trade on the street corner? We can't..it becomes illegal. U can't start making exceptions for no real reason because every government down the line will use Seabra as an excuse to make who they want citizens. Imagine when UNC back in power and every up and coming Bollywood star becomes citizens  because they can add to the culture? Or people who cah make India, pakistan, sri lanka or bangladesh cricket side but feel they have a chance with the windies. Qatar started that shite with handing out citizenship to brazilians in their league after a couple of seasons and Fifa stepped in. Besides, they could afford to house all those foreigners...we can't. Is not just about football and the national team, ppl...

Of course, if it was Ronaldinho it woulda be different... ;D

Football / Re: The US College system and our players
« on: June 29, 2005, 11:01:29 AM »
Although I agree that players coming out of college ball will be behind players who in the professional setting in the 4 years i think we watching it in a the wrong way. The first problem is that we keep referring to them as players. People in college are not players, they are students who play whereas in the professional setting you are a player first whether or not education is provided on the side. With that said, as a former college player and a man who know other US players the main problem of the standard not being as high is the bane of all men: rum and women.
U in college, ppl, whether u love the game or not it have real partying going on and only the real committed ppl going to sacrifice their whole college experience to live the life of a pro footballer in watching everything u eat and drink and doing extra training and so on. Most of the people who attend college hope for a contract, yeah, but really putting most of their faith in their degree. With that in mind, u hadda be real dedicated to put everything else aside to concentrate primarily on a football career, which is what somebody already in the professional setup has the luxury of doing.
And not to mention...we is trinis, we love to party. Honestly, i think that if u really dedicated to becoming a pro and maiking it after college, u could come out as good as or better than a yute who playing pro league down here during those 4 years, but u hadda be dedicated enough to focus your energies on that goal, just as in everything else in life.

Football / Re: Australia to Asia..y not Mexico to S. America?
« on: June 15, 2005, 01:38:33 PM »
I guess they wantd to go because of the higher standard of play and probably because of gate receipts as well..but all of us here play football at some point in time: you doh get frustrated when u playing against a bunch of shitehounds all the time? Tha's probably how they saw the rest of concacaf. This was before the US became a force that mexico applied to FIFA and get brace, so i guess that would be in the 80's. I think after the 86 World Cup when they make the quarters..but I not certain. But i do know that FIFA said they couldn't allow it because of the geography blah,blah....but now they saying Australia could go and they see no reason why not? I guess Blatter have a different philosophy to Havelange even though that was his mentor...

« on: June 15, 2005, 10:08:29 AM »
Fifa say that they see no problem with Australia joining the Asian federation for future qualifying since Asia and Oceania say they would welcome the move. So why Mexico get brace in the past when they try to join S. America for qualifying?

and now? No comment on them? At least sealey have a chance to make the side because he will be scoring regular in the MLS.I dunno what exactly it is, i guess his positional play or something but the man seems to score without doing much on the field, like a real striker. But Colin Samuel have nowhere to be in the shop window for a new club or ti impress the coach, or to renew his work permit, poor fella. Anybody know if he still in the country or if he gone back to scotland to fight down a wuk?

Football / Re: We need Stern to step up
« on: June 14, 2005, 10:00:05 AM »
We hadda back Stern to the end.Under all the small talk and missing chances he have has 3 goals in his last 4 internationals, which is more than anybody else on thee team...not to mention he is our all time top scorer now. When Ronaldo was playing shite and not scoring(for bout 8 games), brazil stick by him despite having adriano benching and robinho in the wings. When owen was doing crap, eriikson stick with him despite defoe hotting up. Tha's what you do with your big strikers, stand by them til they out of thier slump not discard them and damage their confidence forever.

And the word for Stern is not unfit...he put on too much weight in the gym so he a step slower. Tha's what he need to work on, but i figure is them men in England try to turn him into a big target man, having him playing with his back toward goal and wanted him to put on some more muscle for dealing with them defenders..and now ruin his game as we know it. In other words, he not taking athat weight off for Trinidad if his employers paying him to follow their fitness and nutrition program

Anybody knows what went on with them regarding the Gold Cup squad ? Beenhakker work with them at all or he just omit them without seeing them in training? Did scotland and samuel train with the team for the 3 days prior to the Panama game or since they weren't picked for the squad they weren't allowed to train either?

Football / Players who need to sweat in the Gold Cup

Andre Boucaud
Silvio Spann
Jason Scotland
Colin Samuel
Ricky Shakes
Scott Sealey
Jason Norville

All these men Beenie still eh get a real chance to work with and could make the team stronger, they could all possibly be starters... And I hope he persist with Rahim, he have the talent to be like Nahkid but he just going through a rough patch right now because he cah get swear nowhere...his confidence have to be shot to pieces. Plus, Cornell Glen eh get a good look in yet but we all know he not discarded. I would even give a call to evans Wise, maybe Beenie could find a way to get through to him and put his talent to use cause he have real skills...is just the mental abilty to use it at the right times he can't seem to grasp. And by September/October I could see some of Jabloteh youths making a breakthrough on this team..Fenwick doing a good job the way he cut Nigel Pierre and Ancil and them to make room for' new blood', same thing we will hadda do with the national team to keep them on the boil.

I think Vlady in el salvador or something so...but bringing up QRC v malick make think of a man who missing in action...what going on with Irasto Knights? He was hot for a while. Cah remember if he was malick hotman before or after scotty. i know it went Dwarika,Glasgow and then them 2 before Westfield.

I would love if sam or flex or somebody could give me the stats for when Yorke and/or Stern score when together on the field...I think it's 0 b4 the Panama game. We definitely need to separate them up top. Scott Sealy, Cornell Glen, Scotland, Samuel, Hector...they all bring something different. Yorke and John is big names...

What about Track & Field / Brown, Burns and Steroids
« on: June 09, 2005, 10:01:18 AM »
I always remember a comment Ato made when Brown run 10.04..he say "that is good and he wish him all the best for the future but it's a big step from that to running under 10 consistently". Watching that pre-fontaine field and seeing men that Brown was beating at youth level all dipping under 10 and he eh do that yet...I convinced that 'step' is when they start to take all them drug cocktails. So doh look for Brown and Burns to start mashing up anytime soon because hopefully they not going down that road. The only fair field in a 100 was the year when Kim Collins win without going under- 10 !

Football / Birchall or Fitzpatrick?
« on: June 08, 2005, 06:33:59 AM »
Tiger and Rojas get subbes at half time in the warm up games, possibly because of them having games with RSL but also because they doh have the left side lock and Beenie man was stil tryng things. I saw all the warm-up games and the Panama game. Tiger is decent on the left but he can't cross and he still lacking some compusure at this level, but he works well with Rojas on the defensive end and he runs up and down the flanks doing both his defensive and attacing duties. His ideal position I believe, would be in the middle as a ball-winning midfielder only required to pass the ball 10 yards to Yorke or the creative midfilder in front of him. But...
Birchall have that lock. He plays the typical english game of hustle and energy, never say die, strong in the tackle and makes the simple pass. The basics. Plus he have a decent right foot to hit the long ball every now and then and is now our set piece taker. Eventually he will get one in the right spot for Lawrence, Andrews, Yorke or John to take advantage off. Even becks doesn't get them right most of the time.
Theobald came on for Tiger in the warm up games and surprisingly did not look out of place on the left, hence him getting the nod on saturday. His attacking form was better than Tiger and he was  keeping possession of the ball wall, whether it was hitting the man inside for the 1-2 or knocking it back, he ensured that we didn't lose the ball plus he was finding/creating space for himself. His worst game on the left was against Panama... but I would still go with Tiger there agaiinst Mexico for his defensive duties.
