Football / Seating Thread
« on: June 15, 2023, 09:32:15 AM »
Outside of T&T, is always a real struggle to figure out where the T&T fans (and rhythm section ;D ) going to be. I feel that is a real failure on the part of the members of this board. (I guess TTFA could also help here if they would share the sections allocated for their tickets, if any).

Anybody have any ideas on a formula, so iz trivial to figure out "where we goin an sit"? ex. we go sit somewhere in the bottom left half if it have a stadium map. (reminiscent of the most vibes in the Hasley imo).

Bear in mind the Yanks get the cheapest seats for their fan group,
section organized way in advance.

I know we could rise to the occasion and share our experiences / thoughts.

How do you choose where to sit?

Trump signs order to begin Mexico border wall in immigration crackdown

....
A provision in the executive order also removed privacy protections for non-US citizens, explicitly instructing immigration officials to “exclude persons who are not United States citizens or lawful permanent residents from the protections of the Privacy Act regarding personally identifiable information.”

The removal of privacy protections will make non-Americans transiting through Customs entry points, at airports and elsewhere, liable to be searched more intrusively, according to a former senior Homeland Security official who requested anonymity.

The change was a “very insidious” shift away from the policies of the George W Bush and Barack Obama administrations, the official said, and made it more likely for customs officials to search through non-citizens’ digital lives, including their social media accounts and personal devices.

Football / Please Lobby TTFF to vote to suspend Israel

Know that we are the ones to end Apartheid. WE have the power to shake down these walls if only we have courage. PLEASE add your ideas, links, actions that can get our representative to end it.

Recently we heard that Netanyahu cancel the plan on segregated buses back to Palestine only at the last minute. Hear about 'Settler' teams playing in the Isreali league while 'others' cannot.

Quote
The PFA also demands that five Israeli settlement teams operating in the West Bank—Hapoel Bika'at H'Yarden, Beitar Ironei Ma'ale Adumim, Beitar Giva'at Ze'iv Shvi, Alitzur Ironei Yehuda, and Beitar Ironei Ariel; which are allowed to play in the lower Israeli leagues despite residing in disputed territory—cease competitive play.

If this is not overt racism / Discrimination based on religion, then I just do not know anymore.

If in the space of a few years the perception of the world could be systematically shifted towards a reality of two men marrying...I definitely KNOW that we MUST end the perpetual imprisonment and torture of the people of Gaza.

Many on here can tell us that this is how the beginning of the end of Apartheid in South Africa was won. T&T CANNOT stand for this. Be brave Tim Kee! Be brave forumites!!!

of course we trinis hold this summit so dear to our hearts as we hosted the last one (Fifth) and smile and had a good time. Chavez shake Obama hand and give him the special book: "Open Veins of Latin America".   But as I always ask my father when I talkin to him - Trinis believe in anything? Trinis will ever really stand for anything? When it all said and done I sure trinis will be at the front talking bout how much we always supported cuba...but only when it all said and done.

Ecuador's president to skip Summit of the Americas
ReutersBy Alexandra Valencia | Reuters – Mon, Apr 2, 2012

QUITO (Reuters) - Ecuador's President Rafael Correa said on Monday he will not attend this month's Summit of the Americas in Colombia, nor any other gathering that excludes Cuba or fails to address what he calls the region's most pressing issues.

So far, Correa is South America's only left-leaning leader to confirm he will not attend the summit, which begins on April 14 in Cartagena. Leaders from 34 countries, including U.S. President Barack Obama, are expected to be there.

"After some reflection I have decided that while I am the president of Ecuador, I will not attend any Summit of the Americas until it begins to make the decisions required," Correa said in a letter to Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos.

"There has been talk of lack of consensus, but we all know that this is the veto of foreign powers, the intolerable situation in our 21st century America," said the letter, which was read aloud by a spokesman at Ecuador's presidential palace.

Santos has said the issue of Cuba's exclusion, and Cuba's position in general, will be discussed at the summit.

The United States has said Cuba should not be invited because it is not a member of the Organization of American States, which is backing the event.

I also like this quote from another article:

so sCamps jus say how the TTFF lookin to declare bankruptcy.  I know the people with the ability to actually bring about some change musbe already thinking about this, but I want to bring it out on the forum so that we could talk about how we as fans want OUR federation to be.
Question: (1)So if the players put together a federation, and Scamps and dem declare bankruptcy and lookin to bring in a federation with a different name at the same time.  what is the fifa rules on which federation gets recognized?
(2) what if ALL the players decide to play for the players federation. they get USA, England...all who support overthrowing the tyranny of jack to waive they fees and play for the players federation to help them build (goodwill gesture) finances, and build up a following.  fifa could still mess with that?

Vatican Mideast synod ends with criticism of Israel

Credit: Reuters/Osservatore Romano

By Philip Pullella

VATICAN CITY | Sat Oct 23, 2010 9:42am EDT

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Israel cannot use the Biblical concept of a promised land or a chosen people to justify new settlements in Jerusalem or territorial claims, a Vatican synod on the Middle East said on Saturday.

In its concluding message after two weeks of meetings, the synod of bishops from the Middle East also said it hoped a two-state solution for peace between Israel and the Palestinians could be lifted from dream to reality and called for peaceful conditions that would stop a Christian exodus from the region.

"We have meditated on the situation of the holy city of Jerusalem. We are anxious about the unilateral initiatives that threaten its composition and risk to change its demographic balance," the message said.

U.S.-brokered peace talks have stalled since Israel rejected appeals to extend a temporary moratorium on settlement construction in the occupied West Bank that expired last month.

Since the freeze expired, Israel has announced plans to build another 238 homes in two East Jerusalem neighborhoods, drawing the condemnation of Palestinians and world leaders.

In a separate part of the document -- a section on cooperation with Jews -- the synod fathers also took issue with Jews who use the Bible to justify settlements in the West Bank, which Israel captured in 1967.

"Recourse to theological and biblical positions which use the Word of God to wrongly justify injustices is not acceptable," the document said.

Many Jewish settlers and right-wing Israelis claim a biblical birthright to the occupied West Bank, which they call Judea and Samaria and regard as a part of historical, ancient Israel given to the Jews by God.

"THERE IS NO LONGER A CHOSEN PEOPLE"

Asked about the passage at a news conference, Greek-Melchite Archbishop Cyrille Salim Bustros, said:

"We Christians cannot speak about the promised land for the Jewish people. There is no longer a chosen people. All men and women of all countries have become the chosen people.

"The concept of the promised land cannot be used as a base for the justification of the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of Palestinians," he added. "The justification of Israel's occupation of the land of Palestine cannot be based on sacred scriptures."

The synod's concluding message repeated a Vatican call for Jerusalem to have a special status "which respects its particular character" as a city sacred to the three great monotheistic religions -- Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Jerusalem remains a key issue of dispute. Palestinians want East Jerusalem for capital of a future state. Israel has annexed the area, a move never recognized internationally, and has declared Jerusalem to be its "united and eternal" capital.

Israel did not include East Jerusalem as part of its 10-month building freeze, though most plans there were put on hold in March, when the U.S. protested reports of a new housing project leaked during a visit by Vice President Joe Biden.

While recognizing "the suffering and insecurity in which Israelis live" and the need for Israel to enjoy peace within internationally recognized borders, the document was much more expansive and detailed on the situation of Palestinians.

It said Palestinians "are suffering the consequences of the Israeli occupation: the lack of freedom of movement, the wall of separation and the military checkpoints, the political prisoners, the demolition of homes, the disturbance of socio-economic life and the thousands of refugees."

It urged Christians in the region not to sell their homes and properties. "It is a vital aspect of the lives of those who remain there and for those who one day will return there."

It condemned terrorism "from wherever it may proceed" as well as anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and discrimination against Christians.

James sworn in as U.S. citizen

Associated Press

ATLANTA -- Kwame James had to wait nearly 10 years to be sworn in as a U.S. citizen, a long time compared with the time he spent helping subdue would-be shoe bomber Richard Reid on a trans-Atlantic flight.

James, now 32, wore a gray pinstriped suit and blue tie at Thursday's ceremony in Atlanta, which ended years of immigration limbo that began after he helped thwart the terror attack aboard a Paris-to-Miami flight in December 2001.

Kwame James
David Dow/NBAE/Getty ImagesKwame James, shown here in 2007, is now 32, married with two children, and works in Atlanta.

The 6-foot-8 basketball player -- who had played two years in high school in the U.S. and four years at Division I Evansville -- was napping when a flight attendant roused him. Ten rows back, Reid was scuffling with passengers and the crew after he tried to ignite explosives hidden in his shoes.

James helped tie up Reid with belts and headset wires, and took turns holding Reid by his ponytail with another passenger until the plane could land in Boston.

Nearly 10 years later, James would rather talk about how happy he is to be a new citizen and his passion for music.

"I became a citizen of one of the best countries in the world and I am very happy," he said. "All the things that people come here for, that's what I'm here for, the opportunity. You can come from nothing and become something here, just through hard work."

James, who was born in Canada and raised in Trinidad, was playing professional basketball in France at the time of the incident. He had been traveling to the U.S. to meet his then-girlfriend and take her to his family's home in Trinidad for the holidays.

He returned to France after the trip but asked his basketball coach for some time off when the reality of the flight's close call set in.

"I didn't understand the magnitude of what happened at first," he said.

    “

I can't wait to vote in the next election.
    ” -- New U.S. citizen Kwame James

He entered the U.S. as a tourist but later realized he couldn't overstay his visa if he wanted to become a citizen later. He agreed to testify against Reid, but the government seemed to turn its back on him after Reid pleaded guilty before trial in October 2002, said his immigration lawyer, Michael Wildes.

Wildes was shocked that someone who had acted heroically might lose permission to stay in the U.S., and he volunteered during a nationally televised to take the case for free.

Wildes brought James' case to the attention of then-New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and Rep. Joe Crowley. He also helped James apply for a visa that allowed him to play basketball.

James ended up making the cut for the minor league Brooklyn Kings. The assistant coach and co-owner of the team, Dan Liebman, said the two "became like brothers" and even let James crash at his apartment.

"He's an incredible class act through and through," Liebman said. "People should model their children after him."

James married his girlfriend, Jill, and became a legal permanent resident. After several more years, he applied for citizenship and was finally sworn in Thursday.

After giving up basketball, James got a job as a sales representative for Pfizer but later was laid off. Having shown he could get a job on his own, James felt comfortable accepting help offered by Liebman and agreed a year ago to move to Atlanta to help expand his friend's IT staffing firm in the Southeast.

Given his love for hip-hop and urban music, James was happy to move more

Ricky Martin says he's 'a fortunate homosexual man'
By Alan Duke, CNN
March 29, 2010 5:58 p.m. EDT
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Pop singer Ricky Martin declared publicly this week what he avoided discussing for years: He is gay.

"I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man," Martin wrote on his official Web site. "I am very blessed to be who I am."

A decade ago, when ABC's Barbara Walters pressed Martin to address rumors about his sexuality, he declined to confirm or deny them. "I just don't feel like it," Martin said.

Now, Martin wrote, "these years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed."

Haiti PM ousted over soaring food prices

by Clarens Renois 39 minutes ago

PORT-AU-PRINCE (AFP) - Haiti's prime minister was ousted Saturday in a no confidence vote after more than a week of violent demonstrations over rocketing food and fuel prices.

Just as President Rene Preval unveiled a plan to cut the price of rice by 15 percent, 16 senators in the upper house of parliament voted unanimously to censure Prime Minister Jacques-Edouard Alexis over the crisis, costing him his job leading the government.

With the 10 senators in Alexis's own party absent, the legislators reproached the prime minister for failing to respond to the needs of Haiti's 8.5 million people, 80 percent of whom live on less than two dollars a day.

The move came amid reports that UN peacekeepers fired tear gas at protesters in central Port-au-Prince and that a UN policeman dressed in civilian clothes was shot dead by unknown assailants near the capital's cathedral.

"He was a riot policeman from Nigeria," said Sophie Boutaud de la Combe, spokeswoman for the Minustah force.

Earlier Preval said that he would not block any attempt to remove Alexis. He agreed to work with senate and lower house chiefs to find a replacement.

"If parliament fires the prime minister, I will do what the constitution demands -- I will consult the two parliamentary leaders to name a new prime minister, because no party has a parliamentary majority," Preval said.

Flanked by food importers, Preval announced his plan to bring down rice prices following more than a week of protests and riots that left at least five people dead and 200 injured, according to an unofficial count.

He said the plan would cut the cost of a 50 kilogram (110 pound) bag of rice, which had doubled to 70 dollars within a week, by eight dollars (15 percent).

"It is a move the government has agreed to thanks to the three million dollars in aid provided by the international community," Preval said, adding that the government would also work to encourage more food production.

He defended Alexis as having done what he could in the face of global increases in food prices, and said it was "unfair" to place all the blame on him.

Thousands of people took to the streets around Haiti last week after the latest jump in food and fuel prices, in sometimes violent demonstrations that forced United Nations troops deployed here to intervene.

Blue-helmeted UN peacekeepers were called in to protect the presidential palace, using tear gas and firing into the air to repel demonstrators, radio reports said, while there were also reports of looting.

Preval's government was formed in 2006 after elections that followed two years of turmoil sparked by the departure of president Jean-Bertrand Aristide. Preval named Alexis as his prime minister, and Alexis won a vote of confidence in the lower house of parliament as recently as a month ago.

However, pressure had grown on the government in the current crisis.

Senator Jean Judnel, who backed Saturday's censure motion, said lawmakers would now "work with the president to chose a new prime minister."

"We will size up that prime minister to see if he can respond to the needs of the population," he told AFP.

"He must be able to listen to the cries of the people," Judnel said.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez announced that Caracas would send Haiti 364 tonnes of emergency food aid, including beef, chicken, milk, cooking oil, lentils and other foods.

Chavez, in Caracas, said the decision was aimed at helping "to ease a crisis that is enormous."

now I is a man moppin floors right now to put a lil bread on the table for my youths, but anybody who initiate something like this I go have to let the youths fast a while for me to support this.

Warrior Nation was born out of discontent with the system, especially with how FIFA and TTFF was handlin the ticket disbursement situation..so why recently it seem like all Warrior Nation statements aim is to not ruffle anybody feathers?  making statements when it doh really matter anymore.  How we going to lead like dat?

I suggest Warrior nation trinidad baranch go down to the business registration office and register a TATFF (Trinidad And Tobago Football Federation) or TATFA or even check and see if Jack and dem give up TTFA yet.

Seriously, no kicks ting at all, at all.
We know Wim going and say something about the 1st string team even though Jack done warn him dat if he do dat he fired..adn dey plan to hire Anton as Head to pacify the population...so we move 3 steps ahead and Talk to Roger Boynes and say - Boynes - this is a chance to be a HERO is T&T history.  Yuh done promise to pay for the coach, but check dis we want you to hire the coach for the TATFA.
Bam we talk to Sancho and dem and of course they well on board...we even convince dem to donate de money dey win from the case against jack to the TATFA...and even pay dey own airfare for some fund raising matches.

We swear by everything Holy that the TATFA never going to be corrupt and we encourage FPAT and everything to make sure the players always get a good deal and the Fans always get a good deal.  Honesty in Business.

Boom, we talk to Federations and tell dem the scenario, we tryin to get rid of Jack and Scamps by makin dem obsolete, so come down T&T for soem friendlies, for free so we could raise some funds...of Course Scotland go be in dat Scotland vs T&T we could full up de stadium wit dat.  WE even talk to USA and Mexico, cuz dem could make jack out if he try to strong dem.  I sure if have real federations out dey who toes jack step on.

Boom we turn on the local players and say allyuh hatta make yuh choice now...a few internationls and Tings runnin nice we tell FIFA we are the popular federation and we in business.

anybody could tink of what I missin?

Joe Public test new ground

Ian Prescott iprescott@trinidadexpress.com

Tuesday, May 1st 2007

GREAT SAVE: Andrew Durant, the Tobago United goalkeeper, makes a brilliant diving save to keep out the Defence Force in a T&T Pro League match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium last Tuesday. The game ended in a 0-0 draw.

Seeing how the ball rolls on b-mobile Joe Public's spanking-new $8 million all-purpose pitch might be just as much a  public draw as this afternoon's juicy T&T Pro League clash between the Eastern Lions and Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA, the team who regularly beat them.

Today's meeting at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, may well draw the first full house of the season to see the current top two  teams in the Pro League face off.

Unbeaten Joe Public, defending Pro League champions, are three points ahead of AIA, who showed good early form before unexpectedly losing 2-0 to United Petrotrin last week.

However, AIA always seem to raise their game for meetings with the wealthy Joe Public who over the years have been able to buy the best players in the country, including a few from Caledonia's Morvant base.

This year, Caledonia AIA have a lot more quality in their line-up having imported the likes of outstanding Guyanese left winger Nigel Codrington and Charles Pollard, with T&T captain Densil Theobald still holding the midfield together.

Joe Public have also boosted their squad, though, by signing San Juan Jabloteh duo Kerry Baptiste and stopper Keyeno Thomas.

Joe Public once gave AIA a "home" venue on this same ground, in the days when conditions rapidly changed from the "Dust Bowl" during the dry season to the "Mud Bowl" late in the year when rains fell regularly.

Not any more, boasted Joe Public owner Jack Warner at the launching of the new artificial turf surface which has made the Marvin Lee Stadium a truly fitting tribute to the memory of national under-20 captain Marvin Lee, who died a few years ago as a result of complications arising from a neck injury sustained at the same ground.

Joe Public play their first game on the new surface today and the clash also represents the first T&T Pro League match to be played on artificial turf.

At the Hasely Crawford Stadium, where a double-header is being staged, there is an interesting clash between Superstar Rangers, who have already proved they will be a handful for any team in the league, and Caribbean Club Champions Vibe CT 105 W Connection, who lost out on the league last season to Joe Public by the narrowest of margins, a single goal. Both teams ended the season tied on 65 points.

In the second match in Port of Spain, CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh look for their third straight win against a Defence Force team who have occasionally shown signs of life this season.

Team manager names 'bung' agent
Luton Town manager Mike Newell
Mike Newell says he turned down the offer of a bung
A football manager has publicly named an agent who he says attempted to bribe him.

Luton Town's Mike Newell says football agent Charles Collymore offered him a cut of a player's fee that he tried to negotiate.

Mr Newell says he rejected the offer and reported the agent to the Football Association.

Mr Collymore, who works as a freelance agent, denies offering or accepting any bungs.

Bungs are defined as illegal payments made to managers during transfer dealings.

Mr Collymore, in undercover BBC filming, said he knew eight Premiership managers who would accept bungs.

He made the allegation to a Uefa-licensed coach Knut Auf dem Berge who worked undercover for the BBC's Panorama programme for nine months on an investigation into corruption in football.

Mr Collymore says he gave Knut Auf dem Berge false information because he was suspicious of his agenda.

Mr Newell met the Football Association in January to discuss his allegations that transfer bungs are rife in football.

Lord Stevens, the former Metropolitan Police Commissioner, has been appointed as head of a probe into alleged transfer bungs in the Premier League.

He is looking at irregular payments in transfer deals made since 1 January 2004. He is expected to publish his findings imminently.
